We have been to this restaurant twice now and the food and service were awesome! Right amount of heat (we do 4*) and wonderful spices in every dish we have tried. Our waitress today was Julie and she was not only very attentive but had a wonderful, sweet and perky attitude. She knows the menu backwards and forwards and knows every beer they offer by memory. We were quite impressed. We had the Samosa's (2 orders with the Raita sauce added), the Chili Lamb Curry and the Jalfrezi Chicken. OMG was it ever good. The curries each come with basmati rice and 4 pieces of the naan of choice. It's going to run you about $25 a person if you order apps, beer, and a curry entree but worth every penny. We brought home enough for two more lunches. That's 4 meals total for about $50 plus tip. Not too shabby. Check this place out you won't regret it. read more

Stunning and Surprising! An Indian restaurant in North Idaho is something I could not have imagined twenty years ago, but this gem serves up fine, flavorful, and spicy Indian cuisine. The curries are very good, delivered with requested degrees of heat, but be sure NOT TO MISS the appetizers, which are zesty and creative. The aloo Tikka is a surprise, but the really creative, perhaps not authentic, appetizer stunner is the NAANCHOS, a nacho-like presentation of naan, two cheeses, chick peas, spices, tomatoes, onions, and olives. It can be a meal in itself. The restaurant is a few miles north of the town's central area, so tourists may easily miss it. It is worth the extra travel time to visit! read more

This place is a feast of the senses. We have been here twice in five days and can't seem to get enough. From the samosas to the tiki masala to the mango chicken curry to the chicken biryani to the paneer its a veritable feast for your senses. I have always enjoyed the food at mango Tree, however most likely will not return as they appear to care little about follow-up. Last month I had a business lunch with a client and the Waitress kept telling me how much experience she had. I would have preferred if she had listened to my to -go order. Not only was the order incorrect I was over charged around 25-30 dollars in my opinion. I sent a message on the company web-site sharing my concerns, and never received a reply. not a place I want to do business with as there so many other responsive business that deserve my money more than Mango Tree, a bit of advise ,Remember to follow-up with your customers or it could cost you!!! read more

Tucked away behind the car wash this gem has a great variety for vegetarians. We had the Palak Aloo ( potato chickpea fritters) and they were drizzled with 3 complementary sauces. Naan was hot even when Take-out but somewhat bland for the garlic ( no salt?). Also had mango rice and their Veggie Kofta which was the best I have had in quite a long while. Great food. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala wife ordered Chicken Malai. My Masala had great flavor. I ordered a spice level of 5, which would translate to a 3 in a metropolitan area, which was about right. Wife's chicken was a little salty for her taste, but still ate most of it. Naan bread was good. Ordered a single Mango Lassi to split, so our thoughtful server split the Lassi for us and brought out two "half" Mango Lassis. Server, Jesse, was great. We went here on Saturday and the service was terrible. Our waitress was sooo rude, I couldn't even believe some of the things that were coming out of her mouth. We had a table of 10 and had made reservations, so they knew we were coming. Half of us got our dinner, while the other half sat and watched us eat. Then the waitress came by the table and said the cook didn't have the rest of our order so she took the order again. Forty five minutes later the other half of our table finally got their food. I asked our waitress for a drink menu, and she throws down a piece of paper that she had written drinks on, like her cheat sheet for drinks. I finally asked for a manager and the girl I spoke to was very nice and she took the meals off our ticket that came late which we were happy with. But honestly I will never go there again. read more

We were pleasantly surprised with how good this place was! They had a good variety of vegan options. The daal Turk was especially flavorful! Make sure to get the roti too- sometimes it can be a sad substitute for naan, but it was very well done here! Dog friendly patio is a plus too. read more

We usually like to do the lunch special- such a good deal to try multiple curries, salad, and naan bread. Some friends suggested Mango Tree so we met up for drinks and dinner. I ordered sangria at the bar; it wasn't red wine based but was delicious! It was based in white wine and grapefruit beer - try it! Maria and Jaimee provided wonderful service - thanks! We had four different entrees which all got gobbled up. My korma with lamb was perfect. Food was excellent, as usual. Unfortunately, the service was awful. One waitress was on it - hustled to tables, greeted people, and checked in frequently. Our server - not so much. She pretty much ignored us and we had to track her down multiple times. I appreciate the difficult work servers do and have never left a 15% tip. Normally 20% is where I start. She got 15%. I love Indian food and this did not disappoint. I have eaten at several Indian restaurants in major cities, and you will not be disappointed with the classics. We ordered fish tiki masala, butter chicken, palak paneer with garlic naan bread and basmati rice. My youngest also ordered cheese flatbread, which was great for a kid option. So pleased to have this new eatery in CDA. We each ordered a different curry bowl and shared tastes. You can adjust the heat on each bowl. We tried all of them from a 1 to 5 on spicy scale. I lived in South Africa for two years amongst the Indians in and around Durban (Chatsworth). I ate in their homes and went to their festivals. My friends there were primarily Tamil (South India) and I will always remember the food, their generosity and their friendship. I have also spent some time in South Goa. Over the intervening years I have had a difficult time finding the "right" Indian flavor that wove itself into my genes. Last night, however my family ordered from The Mango Tree and I experienced the most perfect Chicken Biryani that I have eaten since leaving the country. In a nostalgic indulgence I ate with my hand and reminisced with my family about my experiences. Unlike some Mexican heat that is all flash upfront and lingers on lips and tongue, Indian heat is driven by deep complex flavors that settles within the nose and mouth and radiates from the stomach like a warm embrace. I cannot fully express how satisfying this meal was. With my Biryani I also ordered two samosas. Samosas are like chocolate chip cookies in The U.S. they are all basically the same, but can vary wildly in shape and texture within family recipes. I am used to a smaller more flat, "cafe" samosas that you can get from street corners or food trolley. The samosas from the Mango tree are much thicker and the filling was also slightly different, however, they also were a treat that I will be ordering again soon. I really had high hopes for this place as I love Indian food, and Coeur d'Alene could use a little more variety. First and foremost, the food was actually pretty decent. We ordered actual Indian dishes, not some of the Americanized options. Unfortunately, the portions were a little small and the wait was pretty long. When the food did come, they had forgotten an item, so more waiting. The waitress also did not keep our drinks filled, which was also problematic with the extended wait time. All this and I would have probably given 3 stars, but the trendy drinks menu did not have prices, and I like to know what I'm paying to make a good decision. Docked a star as I'd rather have helpful over trendy... I know they're new, so I'm willing to give them another try and hopefully improve my rating! read more
