I came back because everyone was telling me about the Dutch Baby pancake and that I had to have it. When I met up with my cousin for lunch, we were told they were sold out, and that we need to come early. So we met up for breakfast at 6:30. We were one of two tables that early. The Dutch Baby takes 20 minutes, so order breakfast and by the time you're halfway done, the Baby will arrive. It's almost like a cake but with the texture of a crepe. It was very good! I didn't understand what to do when it arrived, but our server said to put butter on it first, squeeze the lemon all over it, and sprinkle the powdered sugar. This was really good! I mean, the flavors all worked well. It was worth the wait. But seriously, go early and get it. You won't be able to after 12 noon! I really love coming here! Took a few days to see what I was going to write. My wife and I stopped in the other day to grab some breakfast and right off the bat after signing in the lady at the register didn't even attempt to acknowledge us! So there we sat....and sat.... and sat, why is no one's guess as there were at least a dozen empty tables. Finally after being seated I ordered a coffee and my wife got a diet coke..... and that's the last thing we got. We had placed an order that never came...? Who knows what happened there and we continued to watch a totally disorganized staff running around, but not really doing anything. Our waitress seemed to refuse to make eye contact with us and getting a refill on the coffee was an absolute no go! I think the last straw was when our waitress carrying four glasses of water got distracted by another table and just plopped all four glasses of water in the middle of our table like we weren't even there and walked away! At that point I looked at my wife and told her we're leaving. I don't know what happened to this place as it used to be very good, now it's expensive and to say the service "sucked" would actually be a compliment. I really doubt this place will be in business much longer, I know we'll never return again! read more

Come early if you don't like waiting in line. They are busy during peak breakfast hours. Not sure how long we waited but it didn't seem like a very long wait time. They were pleasant and courteous service. The atmosphere was comfortable and I was wearing a jeans jacket. We ordered the Dutch Baby as soon as we sat down since it takes quite a while to make. I ordered bacon and eggs and my husband ordered corned beef and eggs. I ordered extra crispy bacon and soft scrambled eggs. The eggs came out soft scrambled not scrambled. The bacon came crispy with some parts on the soft side but I like my bacon crispy all over. The hash brown was frozen patties. The Dutch Baby was soft in the middle and crispy on the outside edges. Get there early before the rush! Everyone in there is nice and attentive. They refilled our coffee often and made a fresh pot while we were there. Classic breakfast restaurant decor with wood tables, chairs, and paneling. We ordered a Loco Moco, Potato Omelette, and a Dutch Baby. Loco Moco came with a homemade patty, but the gravy tasted simple (like instant kind). Potato omelette has hash browns in it (I was hoping for diced potatoes, but still good). And came with this sour cream sauce, it really tasted like a white gravy - super good! Never had a Dutch Baby before, they tell you that they take 30 minutes to cook. Weekday Holiday Wait is Long as expected, be sure to put your name down and hang around the front door to hear your party' name called. We got a great parking spot right outside the door se we could sit in the car with windows down and hear the names being called. Our host sat us down but our waiter was very Overwhelmed. Took 15min for our waiter to bring waters and coffee, 15min more to order, and 30min Moore to get food. Kitchen was very backed up, we could tell by all the other tables waiting on their food so we were (kind of) understanding- it just sucked. Coffee/water Refills were few and we had to flag someone down each time. It could help if the host would stagger on sitting tables to help with timing for waiters/kitchen. Came here on a Thursday morning and it was quite busy! This place is casual and has some history. All the staff were friendly. It gives out the family business linda vibe. It's a pancake house so how can I not try the pancakes?! I got the broccoli cheese omelette and it comes with 3 pieces of pancakes. The pancakes were so soft and tasted great with butter and syrup. The omelette was not bad as well. And they were so generous with the portion! I was only able to finish half of it and had to take the rest home. I ordered coffee and they do free refills. Love it! Amazing customer service from the moment we stepped in, these ladies treat every customer like a regular. The decor is very old-timey, dark and cozy, reminiscent of old European restaurants of the past. We ordered a loco moco and a Dutch baby pancake. The loco moco was perfectly seasoned, not too salty like most places. It was our first time trying a Dutch baby, it was perfectly crispy around the edges and the texture of the inside reminded us of butter mochi. 2 breakfast entrees came out to under $40 which is pretty reasonable in this crazy economy. Food is still delicious, but it took really long to arrive at the table. There were only a few other diners in the restaurant at 745am. Service was also behind, however, friendly. We waited quite a while to get take out boxes once we were finished with our meal - that of which we needed to flag someone down for since our server never came back for over 20-30 mins. Sort of bummed out because usually it's not that delayed. Ambiance is old school and nostalgic. The restrooms tho -- gross. After years of not eating here, the bathroom is still extremely off putting and smells like sewage. Pretty disgusting if you stop in before your meal. My Fiance and recently went to check out the original pancake house and I was left with some mix feelings. The staff were very friendly, the food was okay but took a while to come out, and the restaurant was very clean. Starting off with the food, I ordered the special of the day which was luncheon meat with eggs and rice and my fiance got the Portuguese rice and eggs, and we both shared the coconut pancakes. The luncheon meat was two slices that were very thinly cut, to the point where you could hardly get any flavor from them, I was definitely thinking I should have just ordered the spam and eggs instead. My fiance said she enjoyed her Portuguese sausage and eggs though. The coconut pancakes were very good and the haupia icing was the best! I definitely want to try the other pancakes they have there too. The staff were very nice and you could tell they kept the restaurant very clean, we didn't wait long to be seated either. We ordered pretty quickly but our food took a little over 30 minutes to come out, we looked around and noticed that other people who had gotten there before us were still waiting too. We also barely saw our server the entire time and had to ask other staff for help when we needed something. Over all I don't think the Original Pancake house is a bad place, I really wanna come back and try the other dishes. Hopefully the wait times aren't too bad though when we come back. This has become my go to place for whenever I'm craving pancakes and am too lazy to make them at home. We come here at least once a year (thank you wifey for the father's day breakfasts, lol). Parking isn't really much of an issue as the parking lot they share is pretty accommodating. However, because of all the construction on Dillingham it can take a little longer to get here. Also, expect a wait. Everytime we've gone its been at least a 10-15 minute wait. Which says quite a bit about the restaurant already if there's always a line. Interior is pretty dimly lit, but cozy. Staff is super friendly and helpful. And the tables (at least in my experience) never have that sticky-old-syrup feel to them. They're actually wiped down properly. Food is delicious and no matter what I end up getting I'm always satisfied. Unfortunately you can't upgrade the kids meals to include fancier pancakes, but the waitresses are always ready to help find a workaround to accommodate which is always super helpful with 2 little kids who like to whine and complain, haha. The ONLY thing I will say negatively about this place is that the bathrooms, while relatively clean looking, have always smelled absolutely foul. It's very casual, older style vibe, but that is its charm. They have a wider selection of pancakes (Dutch pancakes, 49er flapjacks, French pancakes) you typically won't find at other breakfast places. We haven't been there for a while and decided to go because it was a week day and the weekends are normally very busy with lines waiting to get a table. This time we walked right in and were seated, it was pretty empty with only a few tables being occupied. I ordered the Canadian bacon with scrambled eggs and pancakes it seem that the pancakes were not as fluffy as before it was thin and watch out for the maple syrup it is not thick if pours out like water, they must be using an imitation maple syrup. I've never been to this restaurant and I believe this location is the last one in Hawaii or at least on Oahu so I had to come for breakfast. First of all, the Denver omelette I ordered was huge. Filled with ham, onions, and bell peppers, I added cheddar cheese for a small additional charge. It also came with hash browns, toast, or Buttermilk pancakes. I had to get the pancakes. Sorry, I was so excited when my food arrived that I forgot to take a picture. There were 3 pancakes that arrived hot and fluffy with a huge amount of melting butter on it. Light and fluffy, I ate about a quarter of the serving and got full so after trying a few bites of my omelette and finding it delicious, I boxed it up and took it home to enjoy later. The place is dimly lit with dark wood paneling, and it was packed when we got there around 10am. Families with young children and seniors were enjoying their meals as well. Plenty of parking (it is located in the same complex as McDonald's on Dillingham Blvd. (Tip: We took King St and turned on Waiakamilo to avoid most of the traffic and construction on Dillingham.) Reasonably priced for the amount of food, remember to bring cash if you don't want to pay the credit card fee. read more

We have always come to The Original Pancake House Dillingham location over the years for their breakfast offerings. Egg dishes, pancake selections.m, there's something for everyone. Eggs with homemade corned beef patty are a favorite, as is the dutch baby and also the apple pancake which both require more time to make. They got through the pandemic and are a nice meal relief in the crazy Dillingham construction area. More breakfast than not, worth the hassle to get there. Corned beef has patty is hime made, not supermarket canned kine. Nice ratio of corned beef to mashed potatoes to diced potatoes. Not just potatoes. Portuguese sausage is sliced nicely. Not skinny, leather like slices like their neighbor has. I can eat this one and it has really good flavor, like it should. Dining room is empty at 0600 hrs, so it's a nice place to meet up w co-workers for a breakfast meeting before work. I'm so happy this location didn't close after the pandemic, even though they were struggling to find workers. As long as I still work in the area, I will continue to get my flapjack food here. I've been going to the Original Pancake House for all of my life! It's a favorite of ours. We love the staff and the food, especially the Dutch Baby. The ONLY reason I gave four stars is because of the bathroom. There is an awful sewer stench and the toilet and floor are dirty. I don't like going to the bathroom there because it makes me lose my appetite. Please please please renovate your bathrooms and keep it clean. We had family from out-of-town and we brought them there because we love it there, but they were turned off by the bathrooms. . Still love you though, always will read more

The original pancake house in Kalihi has been around for decades. The aunties are quick and the service is excellent. As soon as we put in our order, coffee was served. We got our food shortly after. I love my omelettes here and stick to the spinach or mushroom omelettes. The pancakes come in a short and tall stack. If you like your pancakes thin get the dollar pancakes. I absolutely LOVE this place! There is a large selection of brunch items. My favorite is always the 49er pancakes which are very thin chewy pancakes. The staff are friendly and there is ample parking. Their servings are generous and it's best to bring your appetite! So many selections for sweet and savory, even for pickier people, you are sure to find something here you would like. I also recommend the Apple Pancakes if you don't mind waiting an extra 30-40 minutes. They bake freshly sliced apples and bake them into the pancakes. It's almost like eating an apple pie. So worth the wait and excellent for sharing.
