You cannot go wrong with their new york strip served with asparagus and lyonnaise potatoes. I would never order a new york strip at a steakhouse (I prefer rib eye) however, I was enticed because of the asparagus and lyonnaise potatoes that came with the ny strip as sides as well as the $22 price. Let me just say that I was shocked by how juicy and tender the new york strip is and how it is always cooked to perfection. In addition, the sides accompany the steak PERFECTLY. I also love the chicken club sandwich, which the chicken breast is a bit small but always moist and juicy. You cannot go wrong with the mac n cheese which uses cavatappi pasta. Add bacon and truffle oil for a devine dish. This is definitely NOT your average or typical neighborhood bar. It is much much better than that. Great drinks, great food, friendly and competent staff, nice ambiance and lots of televisions to watch your favorite sport...Reservoir is THE place to eat, drink, catch a game and/or socialize. I'm giving Reservoir 4 stars because I think it's really good for the neighborhood. Uptown needs somewhere with a solid beer list and good food options. Foodwise, it was a solid 3. I enjoyed my Au Poivre sandwich, however serving it in slices instead of as a whole steak makes it very difficult to eat. Pieces of beef kept falling out the end of the sandwich. Eventually I just gave up on the bun and ate the meat with a fork and knife. They could also benefit from a meat thermometer, I had requested medium and it arrived almost well done. Our server had no problem serving the truffle fries as my side (despite it being a higher price on the menu) and they were fantastic. My vegetarian friend ordered the tilapia and it was alright. Tasted like a big fishstick, but in a good way. They could use some more veggie friendly options. Drinkwise, I loved it. The beer list is great but I opted to try cocktails. The Pisco Sour was not the best I've had, but it hit the spit. The Blood Orange Sidecar, however, rocked my world. I'm not typically a brown liquor fan, but this was sweet enough to cut the edge of the cognac. Service was very friendly and the space is really cozy. I'm a fan and will return. The presentation is it comes with an apple mustard, salad with a decadent balsamic dressing.. it's good. 2) Calamari - this was.... not as great as i thought it'd be. Wow. This place was brilliant. We came to the beautiful city of Chicago 25 guys deep and this was the only place that would take us. We're good people too, so they made a great choice in having us. Anyway, we walked in and the owner greeted us with a big smile. That really set the tone. 17$ bottomless mimosas - huge play. Great server but that's about it. My experience went down hill once I ate a chunk of chorizo which makes me very nauseous very fast. I wasn't able to make it to the bathroom and vomited. I was extremely embarrassed and upset. The manager or owner came up to me and I apologized immediately. He got in my face and got very aggressive. I apologized profusely and was even more embarrassed about it. He came to my table and got even more aggressive with me. At this point I just wanted to sink into the floor with embarrassment. He went on a tirade about how I ruined his customers experience (I guess I'm not a customer) and how he has to clean up my mess. I've never had an experience so bad in a restaurant until this awful human being came up to me. He got in my face as if he wanted to attack me. Good beer selection. During brunch they have a separate menu and the sandwich section from the main menu, which includes burgers. Had the Monte Cristo sandwich which is ham in a pastry crust with raspberry sauce and a Irish coffee (it was a little cold out and others in the party had some first) which they give a shot a whiskey and Irish Creme on the side to add as you wish. It was a good combo. Others in the party enjoyed their food, including the pancakes, the grilled chicken sandwich and an eggs Benedict plate. We have returned and are happy its improved since opening. Our first experience the waitress offered to have the cook pry open mussels that didn't open. YUCK!! This time our waitress was SUPER attentive. We did the all you can eat mac and cheese, which is a fun idea but so filling you hardly can eat more than the standard order for the same price. The spinach, goat cheese salad was ok but the dressing was a bit heavily dressed w/ an overly mayonnaisey flavor. Really good beer prices. Not a major selection but covers the bases. This is my local hangout for food, drinks, dates, and sports entertainment. When I moved to Buena Park last summer I was bummed to lose my old hangout in Lakeview, but The Res won me over pretty quickly. They have Daisy Cutter on tap which is a must for any bar that wants to keep me as a regular. The bartenders are great. Led by Nick, they are always a fun crew. The whole staff provides great friendly service. The food is also top notch. The menu is limited but everything on it is amazing and it's broad enough with choices to make anyone happy. The burgers are probably the best kept secret in the city, and they are only $5 on Thursdays. The menu also changes from time to time which is a nice. I hope they bring the Chinese spare ribs back this winter! read more

Went for brunch today (on crutches) and the service was great. It's best to get there when they open if you can because it get's busy EARLY. Nadia was our server; very friendly, professional, knowledgeable about the menu and specials during the week as well. I definitely plan on returning for dinner during the week. We had the build your own omlett with ham bacon and sausage, and the Blue Plate with ham (I MEAN REAL HAM- LIKE OFF THE BONE SMOKED-DELICIOUS) and dour dough toast. I love this place! As a vegetarian, anywhere with a heathy and filling veggie burger I usually approve of, but this place goes beyond. Their veggie burger is amazing, and their salads are delicious. I made my first trip here this weekend and I have to say I am a fan. I have been looking forward to a little variety in the neighborhood besides Michael's, BoB and the Spot. It looks like Reservoir could be just the ticket. Reservoir is dimmly lit, clean and sleek. The menu was small, upscale but reasonably priced with most items falling in the $9-10 range. I had the Lamb Burger and it was very good. My friends had the Au Poivre (Pepper steak sandwich) and the burger. The people I was with said the pepper steak was fantastic. To round out the experience, I discovered that the drinks here were very well priced. We were all drinking mixed drinks and the Captains were $4 and the Stoli's were $5. All too often bars are charging 6+ for these same drinks. I look forward to coming back here and I am glad for this addition to the neighborhood. read more

I was very excited when Reservior opened a block away from my house but it's so good my bank account may be regretting it later. I've been in twice and the staff is GREAT and very knowledgeable. The bartender even remembered me several weeks after my first visit (which may not be the BEST thing considering how tipsy I got the first time around). The food is wonderful as well. I recommend everything but my favorites so far are the Flatbread with the Asparagus and Mushrooms and Mac and Cheese with Truffle Oil. My only wish is more food specials as the menu is pretty limited. This place has been pretty busy on the week day nights I've been there so I'm hoping it sticks around for a long time! read more

Mac and cheese. MAC AND CHEESE. I know it's been overdone, but this place does it soooo well. Add the bacon, you will not regret it. My husband and I have been here twice now. Once last fall when I was very very pregnant and hauling around my almost two-year-old, and just last week when we had both kids with us. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating both times. We do go early in the evening, so that might make a difference. Anyway, the atmosphere is great, the food is impeccable, and the beer list is fabulous. As an extra bonus, it is within walking distance to our home. After The Spot closed, I was extremely sad. I know a lot of you complain about The Spot, but the owner is a good friend and that bar was a family to me. SO SHUT IT. The Reservoir will never take The Spot's place in my heart but I am blown away by the atmosphere, food and service. I love the feel of the place. It is gorgeous. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. The manager came by to chat, recommend dishes and even gave me a beer sample. I am so glad we took his suggestions of ordering the Mac and Cheese. We added truffle oil and bacon and SWEET FANCY MOSES, it was amazing. It was in my dream last night. It haunts me. Thankfully, I only have to walk half a block to get it anytime I want (well at least when they are open.) We also tried the pumpkin Manhattan, and it was delicious. Smooth, slight pumpkin taste and the perfect fall drink. I am excited to check out the extended menu and to take people here. This will be especially great hangout in the winter. I only leave positive yelp reviews. And as much as I hate wasting my time on this, I just won't let go. Few weeks ago I decided to join my friends for brunch. I never had a bad experience at Reservoir. New management done a great job picking employees. Very friendly and attentive. Not this time. As soon as I sat down I was asked about my background by a new bartender girl with an Eastern European accent. Exited, (since we share one) I told her I was russian. To which she said she Hates Russians, etc. I was definitely aware of the conflict going on between 2 countries, but considering the fact been living here over 12 years, I assumed, the girl might have attempted a sarcastic joke. So I retaliated, hoping she won't be making my drink then, to which she said I had No Choice. At that point, all jokes were aside. I politely asked her not to bring up any politics or religion while on duty. She proceeded with closing out tab out and proclaiming the freedom of Ukraine. Everyone around me just laughed it off and let it go. Saying the girl is just "a bit sassy". Well I work in the industry as well, and definitely can take a joke, but I won't tolerate being disrespected and talked down to. This is completely unprofessional, and a bit racist. My girlfriend and I just moved into the area and wanted to check out some of the local scene. The Reservoir is within walking distance and has received many great reviews on yelp. They couldn't be more accurate. The bar is very inviting and comfortable. The staff was wonderful and atmosphere on a Tuesday night at 8 pm was great. Our bartender was especially friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great first experience. The food was also wonderful. We had the Chicken club and the Reservoir burger with the dipping sauce and the reservoir fries. (truffle oil and tossed in parmesan). Both the chicken and the burger were cooked perfectly and the sauces for the fries were very good! This restaurant would have definitely received 5 stars but the fries were not on par with the rest of the food. Just the run of the mill out of a freezer French fries. Great atmosphere. Comfortable and casual, but classy. You wouldn't feel out of place in a suit, or in flip flops. Also, sitting at the bar, I found the rare mix of a bar that was very much a regular's bar, but still made new customers feel welcome. The bartender seemed to know everyone other than me at the bar by name, and was engaged in conversation with them, but was still friendly and attentive to me, a first time visitor. The beer list was pretty good. Not huge, but a lot of selections from different styles. Menu all looked pretty good. The food was well conceived, and cooked very well, but the seasoning was a bit off. This would probably be a 5 star review if whoever was cooking my burger had put half of the salt from the fries on the burger instead. It was very odd, since usually cooks have a tendency to over or under season. My fries were so salty they were almost inedible, and the burger patty was bland. The toppings on the Uptown Burger, though, made it a good burger anyway. With a bit of salt and pepper it probably would have been amazing. Will definitely be back, as my only gripe with the place is something which varies from cook to cook, and maybe I just came at the wrong time. read more

Great burger!! Had an awesome grill flavor. Fries are shoestring but cooked very well. The ambiance was perfect for what I like. Not too loud but lively. Low light. Low key decorations. Very clean bathrooms. Only negative was the waitress. It seems like everyone was doing her work for her. She was standing around a lot and my Coke went unfilled for way too long.
