Complimentary Dessert - Wonderfully Rich !

My husband and I decided to spend date night at The Rex this evening, first and foremost our server Julio was the KINDEST, most amazing and attentive server we have ever had. He was warm and welcoming and I knew as soon as he greeted us our experience would be nothing short of amazing. I have never felt more welcome at an establishment of this caliper. Julio thank you for your kindness and attentiveness, I recommended anyone thinking of trying this place to ask to sit in his section! The food was spectacular-each dish we tried and we tried A LOT had its own special touch, the steak was cooked perfectly, each side dish was plated and served beautifully, the shrimp appetizer was outstanding! We will surely be celebrating more special events at The Rex and will be asking specifically for Julio. Thank you for making our evening so memorable.

Says they're open for lunch. 12:30p on a Thursday and no one's here. Waited 10 min. How is their lunch offering going to be successful if they're never here?

Ambiance is nice. The steaks are gas!!! Def coming back whenever I'm in the area. And they have my drink carrajio with tequila literally crack on the rocks no pun intended

Phenomenal lunch at The Rex today! We ordered a dill romaine salad, steak frites and their fried chicken with some bread. Everything we ate was outstanding and service was great. It was our first time here and I will be back to try their dinner menu.

P.S refer to pictures My family and I went to Rex for dinner. Some of the dishes are good, some little bit too flavorful with the salt where I had to scrape some off. I personally like their Tartae appetizer and recommend it. The ambiance was classy, the server was splendid in accommodating me and my family. Overall we had a nice time.

My husband and I came here to celebrate his birthday and our love anniversary, and it was the perfect choice! We chose this place since one of clients recommended it. The steak was absolutely delicious--truly top-notch--and the sides were just as amazing. We were greeted with complimentary champagne upon arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch, and before leaving we were surprised with sweet rum shots that were so yummy. For dessert, we had 3 different kinds but the butter cake?! OMG! Lol as someone who is very particular about butter cake (it's one of my favorites), I can say this one was outstanding and definitely satisfied me. Our server, Francisco, was wonderful--attentive, kind, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the night. If I could make one small suggestion, it would be to add an additional server after 6 PM since it does get quite busy. One thing that really impressed me was the menu--it actually lights up when you open it! Such a unique and clever touch that made the dining experience feel even more special. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we will definitely be coming back here to celebrate another special occasion!

Prime rib and martini nights only on Sunday and Monday nights
    Ty D.

A dear friend of mine brought me to Rex for my birthday dinner. On Sunday nights they have Prime Rib and martini night. She knows how much I love a great martini and prime rib! A nice Birthday card signed by all the Rex workers was at our table when we were seated. It's nice to have a high end steakhouse in Redondo Beach, although there's been a number of them in the LA area including the South Bay. We both ordered the Queen cut prime rib, with creamed spinach, Yorkshire pudding and loaded baked potato, along with garlic bread. We both started off with martinis...one vodka, slightly dirty, dry for me, and my friend had a gin martini. It's nice that the martini is served with a full glass, and also a jigger over a bowl of ice. The garlic bread was perfectly grilled. The sides are definitely meant to be shared by two people. The baked potato was loaded with bacon, green onion, sour cream and butter. It was huge. The Yorkshire pudding was okay, Lawry's makes the best. The creamed spinach was better. My prime rib had a huge piece of fat on the side. Definitely smaller than the Lawry cut prime rib. I was presented with a birthday dessert which was ricotta with assorted berries. Nice touch. Our server was friendly and attentive. Sorry I forgot his name. Rex is a nice upscale restaurant for a nice date night or celebration.

A little disappointing... here's everything you need to know. Parking. Street parking (4 hour meters) is limited. No valet. There is a private subterranean lot with a few parking spaces. Ambiance. Very nice. We chose to eat upstairs where there is a really nice balcony with a nice view of Rolling Hills, however it was cold so we preferred to eat inside. Unfortunately, toward the end of our meal, they sat a party of 12 which was really loud. The other two-top seated next to us (the rest of the tables has been pushed together for the party) opted to move due to the noise. Probably should have just reserved the entire room for the party instead of seating us and another couple there. Menu. Disappointing. I was looking forward to having something besides steak but every single dish (besides the vegetarian pesto pasta that has no protein and the salmon) was made with heavy cream (which I cannot have). I asked if they could make the branzino with a different sauce or make the Risotto without the cream (traditionally, it's made with stock, butter and parmesan anyway) and the server told me all the sauces are premade and they can't alter them. For $300 per couple, I was surprised to hear that there is no chef making the food, just cooks who assemble premade items. I personally feel it's uninspired and a little lazy to just pump all your dishes full of cream. Yes, cream tastes good so the dishes taste good. But anyone can do that-- it's not inventive. I had the wedge salad and my husband had the casear. He said the casear was fine, but nothing special. My wedge was mediocre at best. Now mind you, if a wedge salad is on the menu I order it no matter where we are. This one was just kind of weird. The 'scallion ranch' dressing tasted like it's just sour cream mixed with lemon juice and some chives sprinkled on top. It's thick like sour cream because it pretty much just is... sour cream. I'm glad I ordered it on the side. The blue cheese and bacon (pork belly) was good on it though-- good quality. They drizzled red wine vinegar over the lettuce though which was not good. It just felt like they were trying too hard to put their own stamp on what is traditionally a fantastic salad and the experiment failed. We both ordered the filet mignon, a side of potatoes (which were served with that 'scallion ranch' aka sour cream and were delicious), and brocollini which was just average. The steaks were excellent though-- perfect temperature, great cuts of meat. My only complaint is that it was oversalted so I had to cut the crust off because all I could taste was salt. A lot of people wouldn't mind this, but when I'm eating a really good steak, I like to taste the actual meat. Wine list. Great wine list. The individual glass pours are small though-- they are pouring five glasses to a bottle instead of four. Service. Okay. When I asked if particular dishes had cream, he kept having to go back to the kitchen and ask. I was surprised that a restaurant of this caliber isn't training the staff to know what allergens are in the (limited) menu. Prices. Overpriced for what you get. The price of the steaks were on par with other restaurants of this caliber, but everything else seemed overpriced. Granted, we'd just eaten at Spago the week before and for about the same price got better, more inspired food. Bottom line, if you just want a great steak and good wine, this place is a good choice. I'd suggest asking for light salt though as it was pretty heavy-handed. If you have allergies or are under the impression you can alter the dishes to remove something you don't like, don't come here. If you're looking for a diverse, varied menu, don't come here.

The Rex Seaside Steakhouse is an anchor in Redondo Beach--a true example of what fine dining should be. Every detail reflects meticulous craftsmanship, from the thoughtfully prepared cuisine to the grace, class, and genuine gratitude shown in the service, all within a beautifully designed setting. My fiancée and I first visited shortly after they opened, and we were immediately impressed--not just by the food, but by the exceptional level of care. Since then, we've become regulars. For me, attentiveness and attitude can make or break a dining experience, and the team at The Rex consistently delivers world-class hospitality. The staff go out of their way to anticipate your needs and make every visit feel special. Some of my go-to dishes include the Captain's Shrimp and Wedge Salad, the Tagliatelle (I highly recommend adding extra kale), and the Short Rib, which is outstanding. All of the steaks are excellent, with the Filet being a personal favorite. The sides are thoughtfully executed, and we almost always finish with the Butter Cake, which is the perfect ending. The Prime Rib, available Sundays and Mondays, is also something special and absolutely worth experiencing. The Rex continues to set the standard for fine dining in the South Bay, and it remains one of our favorite places for a consistently exceptional evening.

We ate here some time back. I was alerted to finish your review, which kept popping up on Yelp. My friend and I came here a few months ago. Street parking only, and inside and outside seating. We did not have reservations, the available seating was at the small counter bar in the back overlooking a liquor wall. The decor was typical of other restaurants and simple, nothing stood out. Though it did not appear to be busy, service was slow. I overheard the bartender speak about how the upstairs was keeping him busy. This explains how we were sitting in front of him and the service was slow. We ordered drinks and the Octopus for a starter. The octopus was served on the cold side, not appealing. The drinks were weak, not sure if the alcohol serving was miscalculated but weak. I should have paid closer attention. We ordered a steak for our main dish and the Branzino. The steak was overcooked, and the Branzino was cooked differently than I had before. Ask questions before ordering it. If the waitress even knows how it's cooked. Overall Rex's Seaside fell short on food quality and service. Sadly to say, we will not be back.

The food was incredible, South Bay has no shortage of great steakhouses, so we went in with high expectations, and this place absolutely delivered. We ordered the bread (must have, no question), bluefin tuna, tagliatelle, wedge salad, ribeye, mashed potatoes, and butter cake - every single dish hit. Upstairs on the 2nd was the move. You get a great view, but the vibe is way more relaxed. They had March Madness on the TVs, which made it feel fun and easygoing without sacrificing the quality of the experience. The first floor leans more classic steakhouse, but upstairs strikes that perfect balance between elevated and casual. Service was also dialed in, they reset our table between courses, which is a small touch but makes a big difference. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to. Thank you!

Cute little spot in the South Bay Area. I thought this restaurant would have the Mastro vibes but completely different, you can dine in with shorts, hats, white t-shirt, and sandals. The decor was cute and almost on point. Service: it was okay, our waiter was not that attentive as I would expect since they are wearing suits. He was nice and friendly. Food: everything was delicious other than the dessert. If you like steak I would recommend the ribeye and for seafood a branzino. The butter cake was overcooked and they added so much caramel on it, so not get the panna cotta was very cottage cheese, meaning the texture and the taste was even bitter. I like the free birthday dessert they gave compared to what's on the menu.

The ambiance is top notch and the service is above and beyond! The food is prepared with attention to detail and you can taste the effort. The staff is very friendly and professional. Still a really fun time !! If you look into the history behind the name of The REX, it an interesting story of Redondo beach of the past.

It was a nice presentation and full experience. We enjoyed the cotton candy wagyu, prior to having our tasty ribeye with the truffle potatoes. Ending dinner with crème brûlée cheesecake, matcha parfait and some vanilla ice cream. I'd definitely recommend everyone to try the cotton candy wagyu, it was a fun, tasty bite. The ribeye was amazing, flavorful and just the right size. The truffle potatoes were shared, which means it was a generous portion. I could have eaten it all by myself of how tasty they were-lol. The service was great, from host to servers. Very friendly and polite. Plenty of parking is available considering it's in a small shopping center. I'm not much of an alcohol drinker, however notice they had a nice bar, with hooks for the ladies to store their purse while there. Overall, a nice place to enjoy a tasty meal!

The Food Library was an interesting experience, and one that left me a bit conflicted…read more The service was excellent from start to finish. The dining room is relatively small, with roughly 10 to 15 tables, and the two employees working the floor were hustling all evening and did a genuinely nice job taking care of everyone. The food itself was solid. The standout dish of the night was actually the grilled asparagus, which came with a soy-based preparation that was absolutely outstanding, perfectly tender and cooked just right. The wedge salad was also very good, and both the 16oz ribeye@$86, and the 8oz filet mignon @$76 were well prepared and enjoyable. Where things became more complicated for me was the overall value proposition. The prices are undeniably steep, especially for Lomita. Whenever I dine somewhere upscale, I inevitably ask myself whether, for the same money, I would have rather gone somewhere else. In this case, the answer was yes. I was also a bit disappointed to discover that there is no full bar. The restaurant seems to steer guests toward wine and sake, with only a handful of beer options available. Unfortunately, the first two beers I ordered, an IPA and then a Modelo, both on the menu, both out of stock, which certainly didn't help my overall impression. The dining room itself felt somewhat drab, all black walls, and lacked the refinement that I would expect at this price point. Dark walls and a crystal chandelier create an interesting contrast, but small details stood out for the wrong reasons. For example, I noticed exposed holes in the bar where a purse hook or latch had apparently been relocated. It may seem minor, but details like that matter when you're charging premium prices. At the end of the night, my wife and I walked out more than $300 lighter. While the food was undeniably good and the service was attentive, the experience simply didn't feel like a $300 evening to us. Overall, The Food Library delivers quality food and hardworking service, but for the price, I left wishing the atmosphere and overall experience matched the bill a bit more closely.

Would I say they have the best prime rib around? No. But it is pretty damn satisfying. When here, I always order the Franciscan cut Prime Rib cooked to medium (it's 3/4 pounds), house salad with ranch dressing, and steak fries. They throw in a loaf of sourdough bread with whipped butter. The prime rib is very tender and has plenty of fat. We all know fat equals flavor. The only thing I would change about it, and I keep forgetting to ask the server each time I'm here, is to have it served without the au jus already in the plate. Don't get me wrong. The au jus is fantastic, but when the prime rib is served in a pool of it, the meat becomes soggy. Served separately, I think the prime rib would be even better. In addition to the prime rib, the salad and steak fries are incredibly delicious. The salad is nothing fancy, but very tasty due to the ranch dressing it comes with. Wish I knew the recipe of the dressing. The steak fries pair perfectly with the prime rib. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only thing I would say is pretty average is the sourdough bread. Although it comes out warm, I don't get the sense that they're freshly baked. The service here is phenomenal. The servers are attentive, polite, and efficient. Can't ask for anything more from them. If you're looking for a trendy spot with contemporary decor and pretentious vibes, this place is not for you. This is an old school steakhouse with red upholstered booths and soft music playing in the background. If you live in the South Bay, and you're looking for a classic prime rib experience, this is a place you should check out.

Steak curry & rice was really good. It tasted like the curry I had in Japan and was the best Japanese curry I've had recently. They recommended ordering the steak well done, and l went with that. The sauce portion was generous so there was plenty to go with the rice. There are no extra toppings just rice, curry, and steak but I would come back to have it again.

The lamb picanha, chicken, and pork were all perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. One of our favorite bites was the grilled cheese with honey,it was the perfect combination of sweet and savory and definitely a must-try. The service made our visit even better. Manager Oscar was incredibly polite, friendly, attentive, and professional. He checked on us throughout our meal, made sure everything was perfect, and genuinely cared that we had a great dining experience. His hospitality truly stood out and made us feel so welcome. Great food, outstanding service, and a wonderful atmosphere. We'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend Fogo de Chão to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience!

Only 3 downsides the drinks were pretty weak and pricey, and I wasn't offered any form of water besides the $9 blue bottle of water in which I paid and was good however I should've been offered a glass of free ice water for the price you pay to dine here. 3rd downside is parking there is none so valet is the only option available. Other than that great location, great service and I'll be back with my fiancée again for sure!

I was pleasantly surprised to see they got an extension to stay till July 11, This place has been a staple of the South Bay for over 50 years and I literally grew up just down the street from here. I remember wondering as child how it was to dine here but it wasn't until I was in college a few years back that I finally got to try this spot out. It's been a go to spot ever since. I've been here with family and friends for various celebrations, occasions and even dineLA (see previous review). I will miss their dine LA specials, Prime Rib Wednesdays, Black Angus Wagon Wheel samplers and Campfeast Dinner for 2. It was always a treat to have their Sky High Mud Pie and their Chocolate Chip Cowboy Cookie for my birthday. I do hope the Torrance location finds another spot. They have been such a big part of the South Bay story and it would be wonderful if they can continue to be part of the Torrance.

I'll jump to the end real quick because this is important .... no fault of the restaurant but in the parking area (I parked far enough so that my car wouldn't be hit by anyone) and some bozo still managed to swipe my entire side front end of my new car. Jerrrrrkoff move of the driver but I guarantee you that karrrrma is going to come back ten-fold to you. What comes around, goes around so I'm not worried about a fish being served cold to you, soon. Ample parking; however not great drivers. Everyone had 7pm reservations and the establishment did great in getting everyone to be seated in an orderly fashion. The staff was welcoming. One patron decided to be the a h o l e of the night and cut everyone in line as she believed she was entitled. Many people were upset with this. Totally understandable. The lady ended up going to the bar with her husband and friend. She is an embarrassment. Again, no fault of the restaurant. We had a great team who worked beyond hard and provided great service. Leo, Candy and Savannah were the main host and cocktail artists. Our server was Thomas. I believe we were so lucky to have him. He provided the utmost exceptional service. I'm all about great customer service and he was excellent. He definitely made our night. My sister and mom had made reservations and my husband and I had another reservation. We were able to sit together. Our daughter came but did not order since she was Keto and did not want to break her ketosis. Kudos to the chef! Everything was savory, heavenly and exquisite. The experience came with; 1st course: Deviled eggs, smoked paprika, crispy bacon, crispy potato chip 2nd course: shrimp cocktail, house cocktail sauce, basil aioli Paired with a limoncello martini featuring Grey Goose Vodka ENTRÉE: Top Sirloin au poivre, mashed Potatoes, grilled asparagus, brandy cream sauce Paired with a cucumber martini featuring Grey Goose Vodka DESSERT: Berry crème brûlée Paired with Key Lime Pie Martini featuring Grey Goose Vodka The price was very reasonable. I loved the limoncello martini and cucumber martini. Grey Goose is my favorite along with crème brûlée so I knew this night would be a good one. Thomas, is such a delight. We hope to see him again. We are astonished by his great service. His attention to detail all the time while providing excellent service with a smile. He was so friendly and made sure we and others were taken care of. This Torrance location has been one that we have come to since I was a little girl. It's really sad to see them closing but I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing all of these lovely workers at the new place. The restaurant has an old school western style and feel.

Classy, sexy and elegance with great tasting food and great vibes and drinks. We love this place. Lots of great memories. Chef Daniel Godinez is amazing. The food is sooooooooo yummy. The Martinez is a delicious vodka drink. And I love my vodka. Their filet Mignon and prime rib are to die for. The sauces that they add to any plate satisfy your palate. Their shrimp appetizer and guacamole is CHEFS KISS. oh let me not forget their tomatillo salsa ... omgggggaaaaahhh!!! Mouth watering. Place is a hidden gem. Should be a lot more packed. Their steak and lobster is prefect. This is fine dinning so it is pricey, but it is all worth it. They have a full bar and a nice wine list. They have anything you might want for dinner. Their tacos, beef or fish are amazing and we love their salads. Our favorite are their steaks. Cooked exactly as ordered and some of the sides are great. Any steak is great and as a group we had tried them all. Their filet is my favorite. You will love this place.
