Our kids were sleeping so we ordered take-out, but it was less than stellar. Based on other reviews the restaurant experience must be great. For 2 crab cakes, one dinner salad, the quinoa kale salad and seafood broil it was $65. They forgot to give my husband his potato and veg, which was annoying. However, they did give us warm bread with our order, which was unexpected. The crab cakes were bland and mushy, and the quinoa salad should be called kale salad because it is 95% kale, 1% quinoa and 4% other toppings. It was ok, but it got difficult to keep eating it about halfway through. The seafood was good, especially the scallops, but overall we felt disappointed with our order. read more

Went for anniversary dinner, didn't expect such a nice restaurant with the name "roadhouse" cafe. Great for just casual dress or even a little classier. The codfish chowder was to die for (award winning BTW). I had the seafood bake (Large Shrimp, Cod, and Large scallops) all to die for, I don't normally like scallops but there were so good, the best I have ever had. Wife had the Lobster (stuffed with scallops) also wonderful, best lobster I have had. The even gave us a salted chocolate caramel cheese cake on the house for our anniversary. (The cheese cake was a little to salty but it was free). A great experience, our wait staff was wonderful and made us feel great. read more

Perhaps one of the greatest culinary experiences of my life. The service was great (the host was a little fussy) but the wait staff went above and beyond! I had the salmon on a plank and it was incredibly well prepared. The oysters were unbelievable. I'm really disappointed with the quality of food. It has really gone down hill. I had the surf and turf. Filet was cold, lobster was chewy, asparagus was cold and potatoes were boring. Total ripoff. Made reservation specifically to hear music and were told upon arrival that there was a $25 minimum per person to sit near the music. Hostess and manager were completely unhelpful and refused to remedy the situation. Walked out and went down the street do give our business to someone else. read more

My wife and I came to Hyannis for the weekend and read great things about Roadhouse Cafe. We got reservations for Friday night with no issues, arrived and were seated promptly. Wait staff was friendly and courteous, and the ambience was classic New England. Had a very warm, busy feel to the place. I tried a cup of their award winning clam chowder and it was bar-none some of the best I've had in years. We ordered swordfish, salmon and key lime pie, all of which were excellent with large portions. It's a little bit pricey, but well worth the money and I would definitely go back and recommend it to friends. read more

The food is very good. My family members ordered the ribs, seafood casserole and chicken Parmesan and all was good and we all left with leftovers! We were placed in a corner both in the bar area which was cramped. Had a little trouble getting to the ladies restroom as it is also in a corner behind large group tables. That was a trick getting through all those people. The men's restroom of course was conveniently placed. The place is kind of classy which we did not know as we just walked in. Definitely would have fit in better if I had been wearing my polo shirt, khakis and boat shoes. Overall this place was good. read more

I have to agree with some others on this restaurant, it was average at best. Not worth the money. I went becasue Cape Cod Magazine rated it Top 41 on the Cape - why, I have no idea. The beet salad, in addition to the heirloom tomato salad special were the best part of the meal. My wife and I had the yellowfin tuna and my sister-inlaw had the the day boat cod. Again, average at best and defintely not worth the $24+ per plate we paid. The rice on the cod plate looked like it been sitting around since 1pm, very dry and not appealing. The wasabi crusted yellowfin just lacked flavor, seemed very plain and no taste. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. There are others in Hyannis and the surrounding towns where you'll get a better tasting meal for a lot less money. read more

Some of our food was spectacular (clam chowder, shortrib ragout), some good (spinach salad), and some just okay (scallops with risotto). The service was very friendly. The prices are somewhat high, but you can tell that from looking at the menu, so at least it's not a surprise, and somehow we came out with a cheaper bill than we expected. But the real reason we came there was -- they have an electric vehicle charging station in their parking lot! It's the farthest out one on the Cape. So the extra we spent on dinner was made up in saved gas. The clam chowder isn't "thin", it's merely not gluey and super thick like cafeteria gravy. The liquid portion is about the thickness of a tomato soup, and there were lots and lots of bits of yummy things in it. The shortrib ragout with spinach, wanuts, and blue cheese was wonderful, and we spent the meal fighting over the plate. Next time we'd order two, except that it's so rich tasting we'd probably burst, so it'll have to be one order again. read more

Last night our company had our Holiday party at the Roadhouse Cafe and the service was great and the food was delicious! We had the back Bistro room all to ourselves which was beautifully decorated for the season. The ambiance was so inviting and comforting and everyone was commenting on how wonderful everything was. Maureen and Bob were taking care of us and they were amazing! They were able to accommodate last minute requests with such a positive attitude which truly made a difference! Even the support staff were all very friendly! The whole planning process was a breeze with Erica's help too, she was available anytime to go over details for our event and so nice to work with. A little disappointed...was seated in the Piano room with a party group that was very loud , so loud in fact it was difficult to hear the piano, when there were plenty of empty tables in the front of the restaurant. My Seafood Casserole was good, but a very small portion. The mashed potatoes had literally no taste at all. Seafood Stuffed mushroom appetizer was very good. The wait staff was very attentive. Very elegant and beautiful restaurant . Live jazz band on Monday's so that's a very nice bonus. We had the Mediterranean pizza which was really good. Our first time dining at the Roadhouse was a complete failure. We were greeted by a hostess who began by looking at her watch as we came in around 8:30 pm on a Saturday night in October, (We googles the hours which said serving until 10 pm) she was visibly annoyed and said she would have to check with the kitchen to see if it was too late and proceeded to sit us in the bar area.(she never asked the kitchen, she wanted it known that we were there late) We literally squeezed into the booth so small that my 10 year old grand daughter would fit in comfortably and within 2 minutes our waitress arrived asking what we wanted to eat. No mention of a cocktail, no mention of the specials. not even hello...literally said "What can I get you to eat?" we ordered a drink and before the drinks were brought she returned and asked us if we would like to order...again, no specials..I looked around the restaurant .and it was about 1/2 full. There were still people eating and many people around the piano so it was not like we were alone in the restaurant. We ordered our food and it came to our table in 5 minutes. I ordered the saltimbocca and the cheese was not at all melted on top and the demi-glaze was watery with no time to thicken..It was evident that the kitchen rushed the food. Our whole dining experience began at 8:30 pm when we arrived and we were finished and back in our car at 9:05 pm !! It was a total of 35 minutes to drink, order., eat and pay the check...I have been to a fast food place that took longer than that!! !! We were so rushed when there was no reason for it. We left and there were still many people finishing up.. I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years...I have never seen such lack of professionalism from the hostess to the waitress to the chef....... Needless to say we will never return!!! read more

Started with the crabcakes appetizer which were delicious. Someone had lobster bisque which was good but was not hot. All the meals we had were very good. Someone at our table had baked stuffed lobster which was too bready but the lobster meat was very good. Overall an excellent meal. Biggest gripe was it was way too dark. Could barely read the menu. We were given this recommendation by the front desk staff at the Cape Codder as a restaurant that could accommodate a gluten-free diner. Wow. Not only was the menu clearly labeled with the gluten free choices (and there were many options) the server was extremely knowledgeable on the preparation of these items and even suggested some ways that other items could be prepared as gluten free. Angela, the server was extremely helpful, very friendly and provided excellent service. Oh and the food... yes that was amazing as well. It was fresh, hot, perfectly seasoned and a huge portion. Would absolutely go there again and will pass on the recommendation to anyone traveling to this area. read more

Last week, on vacation down the Cape, I had my best meal at this restaurant. The food, atmosphere and waitstaff were all fabulous. we had an appetiser that was a special. It was mushroom ravioli. It was out of this world. I had the beef tips and my husband had the baby back ribs. Both were great and had delicious sides, such as garlic mash potatoes and asparagus. Out waitress was fantastic and personable. great night all around. Would definaly make it a priority to go back the next time we are in town. read more

Service for 5 took almost 90 minutes. The food was good but nothing amazing. Although the hostess told me over the phone when I made a reservation that it was very kid friendly, there is no kid that does well when they have to wait and hour and a half for a cheese pizza to come out. read more

Have been going to the Roadhouse for over 5 years. Just had dinner that was so tasteless and boring we have decided not to return again. I ordered the the cod which came with crushed up potato chips on top ( no seasoning whatsoever), bland steamed asparagus (no seasoning)and a baked potato that had little pieces of aluminum foil In it from where they cut the potato open. And all this for $22.95. So disappointing! Would not recommend! We are done! read more
