There was a time where sandwiches and I were not speaking. We hated each other with a passion. Then I went to Sandwich Odyssey. This place made me believe in the sandwich again. They made my idea of sandwiches being very boring to excited to take another bite but sad, knowing I'm one bite closer to being done. Unlike Odysseus' quest to get back home in the Odyssey, I've felt at home. This restaurant is very homey, very cozy with its comfortable seating. Take note to anything of the Specials of the day. If it grabs your attention, get it! The Pastrami Cubano sandwich was delicious. If nothing vibes with you, go with their huge selection on their menu. None of them will disappoint. Hot Pastrami is my usual but I got my eye on the meatloaf sandwich. As you can tell, I love my sandwiches warm. I definitely will be back, for the Sirens at Sandwich Odyssey calls to me. read more

The rumors are true.....this place is pretty awesome! Long are the days of going to just any sandwich shop. The Sandwich Odyssey is fresh, delicious, grommet sandwiches, with a hearty amount of meats, fresh veggies and dressings. I tried the Grilled Chicken Stack; the bread is so soft and fresh, yummy peppers and onions and chicken and was so good! The place doesn't look like much and is one of those hidden gems that is a must try with awesome food! It's a small, super casual, nothing fancy place with food to conquer your craving and will have you coming back. You'll see this place on the outside and think, this place blends into the area. The inside has had a makeover in Spring of 2017. It has a more college/hip, kind of joint feeling to it. They have a pretty extensive menu as you will notice also. All the top items you'd like to try. The item that stood out, and is the PhillyStack. Since it is one of their signature sandwiches had to see what it was all about. They do pack it pretty well with they Hogie style meat and veggies you would expect from a back east place. The bread is really light/crispy and spongy the way you would want a sub sandwich to stay together. It will not flake apart in your hand. That is such a rare thing in these parts. This sandwich has great base ingredients in it to start, so it turns out really well. The owner is really nice and very interested in how your meal and experience was. This is one of the better places in Bellingham for a great sandwich. The price is really reasonable for the area also. They hit all the high marks across the board, and I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu in the future. They do it right the first time! read more

Picked up some sandwiches last week for the workers at the job site. The Italian sub, and also the turkey bacon avocado. The bread is a crusty roll but soft inside. Kinda like a French bahn mi roll. So it's crusty but doesn't break your teeth. The guys loved the subs. All the regular Italian meats etc. The TBA was full of turkey and freshly cooked bacon, nice amount of mayo and lots of avocado. Lettuce and tomato. The place was packed out in there. Prob doesn't hurt being across from a school! This was our first visit but won't be the last. Ok, wow. When I read all the reviews I thought they were all written by the owner. Can't all be so good. First time in Bellingham and looked up places to have lunch. This place sounded good, almost too good. Well it is pretty darn good so I'm glad I listened. Had the half sandwich and soup and it was more than enough to satisfy. All the meat, lettuce , and bread was fresh and delicious. The soup was no canned chicken noodle blah, I was looking for grandma in the back kitchen. All in all a great lunch for a decent price. When my husband and I bit into our slice of the special of the day... a Cuban-like sandwich, we looked at each other wide eyed and had no words. You aren't just a number when you go to this place and you won't be eating just any sandwich,.. the bread is fresh and the toppings converge where "gourmet" meets "old diner,.. in the good way. We had the Chicken Stack which is kind of a philly cheesteak style (but way better because I don't much like those). Huge pieces of chicken breast and tons of flavour. What I liked even more was the Albacore tuna grilled sandwich, man it was good! The space is what I really am a sucker for because I live where these kind of stand alone eating places have been wiped from the face of the earth. On a unique corner geographically, a lone old building stands currently without a sign (someone needs to fix that!), and inside is nothing to behold,.. but it still has a diner style. I do think a bit of fixing up maybe slightly towards the old diner style could make this place even better,.. but they don't need to do that to get me to come back. read more

We came across this place by accident after we were walking back to our car from the St. Patrick's Day parade downtown and I'm so glad we did. They had a special for a Reuben w/ potato salad (item not normally on their menu but ) and the sandwich specialist behind the counter sold me on it with a simple "there is only enough for ONE more"! Totes forgot my lunch yesterday and thought I'd walk the three blocks from my work to The Sandwich Odyssey! Good decision, me. I called in my order before I left and it was ready for me when I got there! I chose the Italian Deluxe: Italian dressing, mortadella, salami, prosciutto, and provolone. They had me at prosciutto. It was delicious! The bread was a bit too crispy on the outside for me, but it was super fresh. I just prefer my sandwich bread to be a little softer; it's easier to bite without all of the ingredients being squished out the sides. It had the perfect amount of dressing and mayo; not too soggy, not too dry. It was $8.95, which came to about $11.00 with tip. A little pricey, but the portion was big! I cannot wait to go back and try some of the hot sandwiches. And now that I know it's basically a 5 minute walk from my desk, I will definitely be making a return trip! read more
