Ok so the Idea here is to be honest. I have wanted to try this place for some time now. There meatball sandwich (sub) seemed like it might be delicious Since the price of it is off the charts, I thought, hmmm I must try it. Well I did try it and I now need to honestly say it was totally not worth the trip nor the price. Why you ask? First it was a 7 inch white sub roll. Second it had like 4 small meatballs, hardly and sauce and it totally lacked any taste. $9.95 and chips and a small coffee for a total $ 15.99. Really that is so outrageous. If the sandwich was over the top delicious and had flavor as well as actual meatballs and sauce, that might work. So you want a real Huge meatball sub with Flavor and at a cost that blows this away? Gandolpho's New York Deli on Stuart Street right near Walmart. This place has a meatball sub with Huge homemade meatballs, cheese, tomatoes and on a homemade bun. Did I mention HUGE meatballs and its delicious for........... Get ready $7.99!!!!!!! Gauranteed to satisfy too. I live in TN and come to Bellingham a few times a year. Every time, the S.O. is a must-stop. Usually I order the tuna, but this time ordered the Italian. Fresh bread, delicious ingredients, just the right amount of everything. I've never had a sandwich I didn't like from here. I appreciate the fact that it has been woman-owned since it's origin over a quarter century ago and evolves to meet the needs of it's patrons. All of the employees were very friendly in an honest way. Although it was my first time here, all of the other patrons seemed to be regulars. I ordered the full sized TBA or the Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich to share with one other person! This was the best sandwich I have ever had. The ingredients were very fresh. Best Sandwiches in Whatcom County. Am there every Friday getting sandwiches for work and never unhappy. Usually get the Chicken stack with extra mayo, no peppers. Customer service is very good and they are fast with the orders. Always have specials of the day that are worth trying something new even though i am happy with my usual. Not too happy. Had a pulled pork sandwich whose fill was about 3/4 coleslaw. Now, admittedly, the pork itself was pretty good: juicy, flavorful, good texture. Unfortunately, there was only a narrow band of it pushed all the way to the back. Also, the juices mixed with the wetness of the coleslaw and produced an orange-purple slick which enveloped the entire sandwich making it rather soggy and slippery. I went to this place for lunch and at 11:30AM parking was already starting to become difficult. Oddly enough, there were ample seating both inside and out (I guess half of the people were ordering take-out). I ordered a Philly Steak sandwich "for here" and it came out 10 minutes later. Everyone there were very friendly and the food was not bad. If I could choose scores on 0.5 step sizes, I would actually give this place 3.5. The meat and the flavor were above average, but not other-worldly. The portion size was just a tad too small for me. It is one of those sizes that if you were to eat slowly and give your brain time to realize you have eaten, then you will be full. If you were eating fast, then by the time you finish, you would definitely wish there were two more bites around. The bread used was not my cup of tea. My girlfriend and I stopped with her dad here because he wanted a BLT and It was the first suggested sandwich shop in Bellingham. I decided to get the French dip, he got the BLT, and she got a Philly cheesesteak. The place in a bit out of the common downtown area but it is definitely a gem that everyone should check out. Erica made the best soup I have ever had in my whole life if I was to move away I would be sad at the chance of not being able to have her Whiskey Crab Soup again. This is our favorite lunch place lately. It has big portions and the food comes out fairly quickly compared to other sandwich spots nearby. It usually comes out to a little over $20 for two sandwiches. They have a nice cold vegetarian sandwich with always decent avocado and sprout and they have two different grilled eggplant sandwich options.
