Tried this given the location and it was just extremely meh, like the reviews indicate. Dough is thick, slice was just lukewarm and cheese consistency made it seem like it had been there awhile. I would have probably given two but they were fairly nice and the price isn't bad for SF read more

Came here for a few slices while hanging in The City with my son. You get a nice-sized slice for four to five bucks and change, served promptly and hot. Good selection; more limited for slice only than for whole pies but more than adequate. The toppings were plentiful and the crust was AMAZING! Very close to Church Street MUNI station. Really? Only 2.5 stars overall? I don't get it. It's a little hole-in-the-wall pizza joint that's open fairly late. I was heading to the MUNI and needed to grab a bite before hopping on the J-line, popped in and grabbed a slice of Hawaiian. It was big and tasty and off I went for under four bucks. I tried the delivery here a while back. The pizza arrived reasonably quickly, and tasted pretty good. The only complaint is that they did a weird thing where they cut all the bell peppers and onions into tiny bits, which kind of killed the texture and made the experience somewhat disappointing. Reminded of elevated Dominoes but not In a bad way. Just a place that delivers quick, the pizza is thicker than a NY style slice, a bit doughier of a crust that you get with a Dominoes pizza. Its like that meal you ate last night, put in your fridge, and aren't terribly excited to eat it again the next day....but you do because its there, and because its cheap. Cybelles isn't the best pizza...but its across the street from Amber, and down the street from Lucky 13, and it makes a great coat to your stomach to prevent sickness before and after the booze. I agree that there's no such thing as bad pizza. However, there is such a thing as mediocre pizza. And Cybelle's Pizza falls into that category. Don't get me wrong - this is not horrible pizza. At the end of the day, it's still melted cheese/goodness on baked dough. What's not to like? But the pre-made/re-heated quality of the pizza reminds me of the food you get at Sbarro's, those cheesy (yes, pun-intended) pizza parlor you find at shopping mall food courts. The slices are generous for the price, but there's just no love in these pies. The dough is bit thicker and doughier than I prefer. And if you don't eat the pizza right away, the cheese/toppings and sauce become luke-warm, congealed, and flavorless. It has become ritual amongst my crew to start browsing Yelp Deals or Groupon for pizza deals after a long day of football and alcohol. Maybe that's the case for everyone, I don't know, I can only speak for myself. Cybelle's didn't have a deal, but they were closeby and my friend said they were good. So we went with half Hawaiian, half Pepperoni with Jalepenos ($17.50 for a small!!), an order of Garlic Bread ($4.49), and an order of Jalepeno Poppers ($3.99 for 5 pieces), they are filled with cream cheese, just fyi, I prefer Cheddar cheese, because Chedda is Betta. The appetizers are super cheap, which is nice because then you don't have to rely on pizza to be your one and only. I actually didn't realize that I ordered a small pizza until it arrived, which was a let down, but also a lesson in double checking, am I right? Pizza was good, I mostly ate the Pepperoni half since I don't like Hawaiian, but the rest of my party was happy with it. We all got pretty full from the appetizers, but I would definitely order a salad next time; we were all carb'd out after we finished. Since when is it acceptable to take 1 hour and 15 minutes to slop a pizza together, nuke some pre-made wings and drive it two blocks? Apparently, that's the way that Cybelle's does pizza. When you are stone cold sober in the middle of the afternoon during a PMS fit that can only be relieved by comfort food ... Cybelle's is a let down. The crust is way too dry and thick around the edges, but the bottom part is so thin that the cheese grease soaks through to the pizza box and makes a mess. Too much cheese weight on a flimsy crust makes this pizza (what should be the most convenient food to eat) a huge sloppy mess on your plate, your clothes, your counter and your floor. The chicken wings were bloated and soggy bits of disappointment clinging loosely to tiny brittle bones. I imagine that these were just thawed from a Costco bag and nuked in the microwave because there was not one crispy bit of skin in the entire container. Crap. Years ago, CyBelle's was regular parlour style pizza, now it's crap. Every Friday my son and I have "pizza video game night" and we have made the rounds of delivery. We know pizza like Hunter S. Thompson knew drugs. Seriously. This stuff is crap.
