A very cute diner in Oildale. Our waitress was so sweet and informative. I told her it was our first time and she told us she'd hope we would return and become regulars. Her endearing hospitality won me over. As for the food, whoa, baby! The portions are very generous. I had leftovers. The quality of food was superb. Everything was well-seasoned. The prices were very reasonable. We are looking forward to returning soon.

This place was ok in my book and it's too bad because I've heard really good things about it. My fried steak tasted a little toooo greasy. I couldn't get past that taste. The potatoes were absolutely delicious. The pancakes were amazing too. Our waitress was a hoot. Funny and super friendly. My coffee was always full and they check on you often. Overall good visit. I'll comeback to try something else next time

The Sugar Mill is kern county staple it's been around for years and I finally got myself to break away from my usual go to breakfast spots and try some place different. I have to say it was okay not great I was kinda disappointed that the Gravy wasn't homemade it was a typical food service bag gravy although the biscuits seemed to be made in house the gravy was the bummer. The pancakes were pretty good and my wife's Chicken fried steak was pan fried but seemed to be lacking a bit of seasoning. The country potatoes were pretty delicious. In my honest opinion I'd give the food a 3.5 I decided to give it 4 stars on Yelp because the service was great the staff was friendly and attentive. Maybe on the next go around I'll try something different on the menu and update my review.

This is one of our favorites to visit!!! This maybe be our regular spot on Wednesday's since they have my favorite, Navy Bean Soup. It is loaded with chunks of ham and car and celery and of course Navy Beans!!! It has the right consistency and fill with awesome flavors!!!! The service is always some of the best in Bakersfield. It's nice to walk in a see some familiar faces and listen to the servers greeting them will you have your usual!!!!

The Sugar Mill has a lot of regulars. We came by one weekday morning, and the place was hopping with business. The staff seemed to know most of the folks by name. Good old diner style feel! Wifey and I shared two entrees. The Grilled Pork Chop entree and the Chile Verde Skillet. The pork chop tasted too dry. Would try the breaded pork chop next time. The Chile Verde was a nicer option in my opinion. Tasted pretty darn good, and the portion size was generous. The Sugar Mill has plenty of other items to try on their menu. Look forward to dining more here in the future. Friendly customer service goes a long way.

Me and my daughter ordered the pancake breakfast. She requested the blueberry and I got regular. Pancakes are a solid 9/10. Daughters are 8/10. They are Fluffy Buttery Moist Yummy Is the plate aesthetically pleasing? No. That's why they get 4 out of 5. The eggs and sausage taste decent. Staff is friendly. Clean environment. Definitely recommend their pancake breakfast! I have also have their CFS and it the the best out of all the others I have tried so far in Bakersfield.

Once again I went to the Sugar Mill. Once again I was not disappointed. Excellent food. Ate the fish again so no new pictures, but still perfection.

If you love breakfast foods, you definitely can't go wrong by going here. I always struggle with what to choose because everything is so good! If you have a sweet tooth, the B-N-W waffle which has banana, Nutella, and walnuts for the toppings would be a great choice. The chilaquiles with any choice of meat is incredibly flavorful and one of my favorites on the menu. I also appreciate their extensive drinks menu as you can choose anything from a michelada to a latte. At this specific downtown location, the service is always great. The servers are friendly, attentive, and always make sure you're satisfied with your food/drinks.

We finally decided to try Huevo House, and with a name like that I was expecting both cuisines, but I wasn't expecting the Mexican flavors to be this good! The menu was a decent size--one side for breakfast and the back for lunch. I didn't look at the lunch side, but the breakfast options were great: plenty to choose from without feeling overwhelming. They serve pozole on Fridays and Saturdays and menudo on Sundays. The pozole was full of flavor and honestly one of the highlights of our visit. Thank goodness we finally found a place that satisfies us both! I ordered the Country Benedict and he ordered the Brunchiladas--both dishes were delicious and came in generous portions. We also tried the Abuelita Latte and the Mazapán Latte. Both were very good, just on the sweeter side, so if you're not into sweet coffee definitely ask for half sweet. Our server was attentive and informative. She took great care of us and even made conversation, which added to the overall experience. Overall, such a good visit. We'll definitely be back!

The vibes in the new space are absolutely immaculate. There is so much more energy here, and the decorations are incredibly cute. It's the perfect backdrop for a killer meal. The Main Event: This time around, I went with the En Fuego Burger. This beast is loaded with a chile-spiced beef patty, pepperjack, sharp cheddar, thick-cut bacon, chipotle mayo, pepper relish, pickled jalapeños, and a mountain of fried jalapeños + onion strings. The Flavor Profile: This burger delivers on every level, but those fried onion strings were to die for. For the side, I got the sweet potato fries, which are served as big, thick-cut wedges. They come paired with a duo of spicy ketchup and a marshmallow dipping sauce. Switching between the two was amazing, the marshmallow sauce actually makes the fries feel like a dessert. The Drink: To wash it all down, I ordered the basil lemonade, and omg, I need to figure out how to recreate this at home. It's exactly what it sounds like, crisp, refreshing lemonade with a perfect herbal basil finish. The Verdict: If you loved their old spot, the new location takes everything to the next level. Between the upgraded atmosphere, the dessert-like fries, and that refreshing lemonade, I will absolutely be coming back here again and again.

I immediately noticed that my favorite dish, the shakshuka eggs, was no longer on the menu. Thinking it might just be a seasonal change, I decided to try something different. I ordered the carrot ginger soup, beet and goat cheese salad, and my usual favorite cocktail, the Pear Necessities. The cocktail was the first disappointment. It tasted completely different from what I've come to enjoy, none of the smoky mezcal flavor and none of the sweetness from the pear liquor that made it a favorite. I figured it might just be a new bartender and tried to brush it off. The carrot ginger soup was just okay. I found myself searching for both the carrot and ginger flavors, neither of which really stood out. The beet and goat cheese salad was fine, but it's hard to get too excited about a salad. Overall, the food felt subpar compared to what I've come to expect from Moo Creamery. The restaurant itself was also surprisingly loud, making conversation difficult and adding to the overall frustration. It was hard to get our waitress's attention throughout the meal, and service felt disjointed. The most disappointing moment came when we noticed my son's chicken strips and fries sitting on the counter for 13 minutes before they were finally brought to our table. By then, it was difficult not to question whether the food was still as fresh and hot as it should have been. We came in excited to experience the new location, but between the noisy atmosphere, inattentive service, and food that didn't live up to Moo Creamery's usual standards, we left feeling disappointed. Sadly, I probably won't be returning. It's hard to justify giving it another try when there are so many other restaurants in town that consistently deliver quality food, service, and a better overall dining experience.

SMITTENS STAPLE IS THEIR ABILITY TO MISS THE FLAVOR IN EVER SINGLE DISH…read more Update: coming back after some palate development... smitten is one of the most tasteless restaurants in town. Their hype was definitely due to the 'aesthetic'. Nothing is really outstanding to me. The drinks are such a let down, the coffee is borderline yuck.. do not recommend. Everything is quite unmemorable. Service is whatever, sometimes mid, sometimes bad. Nothing outstanding. Ambiance.... well... this one has been replicated one too many times. The food is heavily missing flavor, the hummus is disgusting. I can't believe they call that thing hummus, it's an insult to actual dish.. it's almost like it was trying to imitate the real dish, but failed terribly in even attempting to. Their pizza tasted like play-doh and looked very pale. Smitten is at least consistent with one thing, which is their staple: no flavor. One of the breaking points for me was being served food that had someone's HAIR. The restaurant is very expensive for the poor experience they have to offer. I stopped recommending them a long time ago.
