We started out trying to find the random house in East San Jose that sells churros from their garage, but they were closed. Then we unsuccessfully tried to find parking in Vietnam Town. After 2 failed attempts, we were just driving around trying to find somewhere to eat and ended up at The Table in Willow Glen. We didn't have a reservation but we're seatted right away regardless. Our server was so nice. She low-key reminded me of a preschool teacher. Very expressive and super positive. We started with the duck pate. It was good but the bread to pate ratio was way off. They definitely need to double the bread serving. I got the squid fusilli pasta and my husband got the Manhattan steak. The cook on both was perfection. The squid was tender not chewy and the fusilli was al dente. The Manhattan Steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and they even had raw horseradish! They unfortunately did not have anything diary free on their dessert menu so we passed on that but dinner was superb. What a great find! read more

The table is a great spot for breakfast and I was so excited to try their dinner! However, as someone who is a celiac, I was very disappointed in the limited options that there were for someone who has a gluten allergy. The only item I could order was the salad, and it was fine. However, I did not find the charred greens with a pomegranate dressing to work very well. I think their menu is seasonal, so hopefully their spring menu will have some yummy entrees. In the meantime, if you are looking for a brunch spot, definitely go here! read more

The wife had wanted to try this restaurant for a while and we happened to be in WG for a wine walk a few weeks ago. So after the event we stopped by to see if we could get a table. They were pretty booked as it was a Saturday evening and there were no available seats at the bar. We put in our name and waited about 20 minutes to get seated. We were taken to the patio area and seated at a table that was around a fire pit. It seemed like kind of a weird spot so I asked if there was anywhere else we could sit and the hostess said they had a couch and pointed in the direction of a booth that was in the bar. I thought this was what she meant and said, "Great, we'll take that one." Turns out she meant this weird metal car seat looking, swing kind of thing. We would have been better off at the original table. But we made do. Our server was friendly and the food was good. I got a chicken dish. The portion was kind of small but the flavor was amazing, very good sauce on the chicken. Eating on the weird bench seat was a bit of a chore because the table in front of it is very low. So you end up either having each bite travel a long way from the plate to your mouth and risk spilling on yourself or hunch down over the table. Not very conducive to eating. When my girlfriend and I went here, it was so incredibly underwhelming. The hostess was near terrible. She did not seem all that inviting and just rushed us to our table. Once she placed down the menus at our table, she walked away without looking at us. She didn't say "here's your table" or "hope you enjoy" or anything at all. There wasn't anyone behind us at all either! The place wasn't busy at all. A good amount of empty tables around. The place is so crowded. All the tables are so close to each other that you could hear everyone's conversations. The food was pretty forgettable. The chicken fried steak was really dry and the gravy on top hardly saved it. Flavor wise it was okay. The hashbrowns looked soggy and was okay tasting. The Mary's roasted chicken was the worst one. Really under flavored and not a good choice at all. It is bland and only so little portions. I would say the saving grace would be our incredible server (I'm so sorry I forgot his name but I think he had a beard and maybe Latino) . He was very nice and helped the best he could. The sardine toast was also very good. It had a good balance of sweet and savory. It was not fishy tasting at all. The pancake was really good too. The service here is actually really good. They keep an eye on everyone and make sure to refill water and just staying on top of checking in with everyone. Now for the bad... I came here for dinner last night with my friends, and I was really excited to have dinner here, because the reviews on Yelp are like freaking amazing. I trust Yelp to guide me to new places. We came in around eight-ish and we waited a little over 35 minutes for our food to come out. I guess if you really want to have a long and deep conversation while waiting for your food this place would be pretty good - but if you are hangry I probably would skip. I ordered the lemon pasta with vegetables and chicken, one of my friends, ordered a burger, and the other two ended up ordering the duck. You'll probably need to duck your eyes when you look at the picture that I posted of the duck. It literally looks like they plucked a duck from upon close by and served it raw. That's fowl - pun is intended. My friend did end up talking to the server and they tried to offer her another meal option - but she was actually turned off from eating some of it. The restaurant did end up, providing a free entrée for next time and not add her duck to the bill (another pun that is not so intended). The pasta I ate was honestly a solid five out of 10. The corned beef hash is *chefs kiss*, very tasty, and I was surprised it was so good. My friend opted for a benedict dish that looked pretty average, but she seemed to enjoy it. I also got a michelada which was pretty underwhelming and quite watery. I watched the bartender fill the glass with 95% beer and 5% of tomato juice, not sure if this is how it's normally made. My friend got the espresso martini and it was good, but had a bit too much foam for my taste. We came on a busy Sunday morning but were able to get seated immediately at the bar. My family and I have been coming here for years. I love their brunch because of their food quality and coffee, so much better than the place across the street from them. I'd rather pay more for food quality than large quantity of mediocre food. Their servers have always been very friendly and really good at remembering our requests or filling our waters and coffee without asking. A previous reviewer was mistaken about their egg Benedict so I had to let you know that the sous vide egg is inside the hole of a slice of Acme Onion Bread! And then you have that round slice of bread on the side! The salmon and season veggies benedicts are our favorites. So yummy! read more

The Table is a American brunch spot with some really creative dishes. My friends and I opted for the traditional breakfast, soft shell crab benedict, corn & squash ravioli, and the chicken fried pork steak. The traditional breakfast was decent and pretty much just what you expected. The bread was on the harder side compared to what I've had at other places, though. The Corn & Squash Ravioli was a nice surprise. It's a unique dish and tasted great. I would say the portion was a little small, though. However, the portion was chicken fried pork steak was huge. The steak was nicely fried and cripsy outside, and soft & tender inside. The hash browns were also super crispy and nicely seasoned. For the soft shell crab benedict, they actually forgot my soft shell crab at first, but they served it on the side for me after I pointed it out. The crab was definitely my favorite part of the dish. Unfortunately, I found the egg to runny, and that there was too little bread. This spot was busy. We came around 12:30pm on a Sunday and waited an hour to get a table. Yummm. A delicious brunch spot! There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, but I do recommend getting reservations because The Table can get busy! Parking is limited in the small lot next to the restaurant but if you continue driving on Willow St a little past the small lot, you can turn left into a much bigger lot! It is the shared parking lot with Aqui and BevMo. At The Table, I love the tartines. They are small but flavorful - limited to one order! I chose the sardine one and it was so flavorful. I also ordered the Smoked Salmon & Potato Rosti, which was really just a fancy hash brown. I loved the cook on the poached eggs and the crisp on the potatoes. The salmon was fresh and delicious with the creme fraiche. However, the dish was too heavy for me (my plate had a small pool of oil from the potatoes). TLDR: Really tasty food, dirty bathrooms. Got the braised duck and ricotta/Parmesan gnocchi. Duck was really tasty and flavorful and saucy. Hints of all the same spices you would find in mulled wine. Gnocchi themselves were good too. Super pillowy, flavor was a bit too delicate and sweet for me, gnocchi was a bit oversized (but I prefer smaller chewier/doughy gnocchi). Partner got the chicken (they were all out of steak). The chicken was some of the best damn chicken I've ever tried. Quarter piece with thigh and white meat. White meat was hella juicy and the skin had the most perfectly crisp bite. The accoutrements on the plate like the chickpeas and the sauce and lil bits with the chicken were perfect, a true side was not needed at all for the Stella stand-alone chicken. We were there at 7:15-7:30 on like a Wednesday and they were all out of bread which was wild. Got some cocktails, they were tasty, but not memorable. Cant recall the flavor profile or names. Dessert was disappointing, got the tiramisu. If you've had good tiramisu you'll be disappointed, but if you've only had tiramisu made with a cake sponge instead of lady fingers, you'll enjoy it. I've been dying to try this place out for a while, so we finally decided to stop by! Positives: 1.) We were seated right away. 2.) The staff were all nice and polite. 3.) The water they gave us was WARM. It was not cold, refreshing, nor did it have ice in it. (Which would've helped on the super hot day! lol.) 3.) They didn't leave a water pitcher on the table either, so we had to rely on whenever someone passed by to give us a refill. 4.) The umbrella above us was supposed to protect us from the sunlight, but as the sun shifted in the day, I was fully exposed to HOT hot burning sunlight and 3/4 staff passed by without offering help. It was when my bf got up to move the umbrella that we finally got help, thank you to our server. (Wish it could've been fixed before I felt sunlight turn to burning sunlight tho..! lol.) 5.) ******MOST IMPORTANT ****** The reason why we will NOT be returning. Our food took quite a long time to finally come and sadly both dishes were undercooked. How could it take so long and still not be cooked fully? This was disappointing. Sadly we couldn't tell they were undercooked until we began eating, otherwise we would've asked them to fix it and cook it more prior. 6.) Very small complaint but valid.. We were seated in a small corner next to a man with a dog (btw we do love dogs!) BUT it would've been nice to be asked if this seat was okay. We would've preferred to be inside, in air conditioning(!), and not next to a man with an overheated medium dog inches away from us. Which also added another element of being uncomfortable.. I genuinely wanted to like this restaurant but.. This would be my third time retuning. I didn't have a good first experience or second. I live near the area and my family or friend would want to try. I do warn them but the experience speaks for itself. Always new servers who look like they are inexperienced & young (makes me think they aren't trying to pay them well). The food is again...good. Most important to note is the service. It was superior. Our server was Erica and she is genuine and competent. Another big plus are the cocktails as you can see in the photo. The top drawback can be solved with a simple fix. Put some rubber stoppers on the bottom of the chairs on the patio. People who are unaware just slide the chairs across with a nails on the chalkboard sound over and over. It is annoying and easy to fix. The setting on the patio is really loud due to traffic and people being loud (that is a good thing) but don't plan to hear much if you come with a larger group. Food - the main driver to the three star review. Nothing was bad but not a lot really stood out. Great experience having a brunch date at the Table. The patio area was super cute and didn't feel squishy around other customers. The portions are filling but not overwhelming. If you're a coffee fan, start with the "verve & cream" cold brew- it was the perfect treat with freshly made whip. We shared the ricotta and fruit crostini had such a complex and delicious flavor I highly recommend! For main plates, my boyfriend ate his entire chicken fried steak and loved the gravy. I have been here before and have always had my expectations met by this establishment, and this occasion was no different. We went in for a bite to eat and happened to catch them at their happy hour. I was a little concerned because we hadn't really dressed for going out that night but the vibe was pretty casual, may have been because of how late it was but either way the atmosphere was sophisticated but comfortable. Drinks were well made as I had the Lawyers, Guns, and Money, was very well balanced and a good way to end my night. We each had a burger and split a side of potato wedges which came out piping hot and served with a dip which I believe consisted of sour cream and chives. It made it seem like I was biting into a baked potato each time so that was a neat concept. Service was prompt and kind, our waters were always full and he was very attentive. Overall why this isn't a 5 star review is mostly because of pricing for what you get, everything is good and what you expect from a restaurant such as this, but I'm never quite blown away. The Table is a mainstay of Willow Glen with its bougie brunch menu, impeccable vibes, and extensive seating options. I remember this place being all the rage when it first opened (it was truly the first of its kind in this neighborhood), and happy to report that it still is after all these years. My friend and I ordered the crab benedict, sugar-dusted ricotta beignets, and corned beef hash. This place is known for offering "63 degree eggs," in which the egg yolks and whites are both runny. Not for me, but worth trying if you're curious. SMOKED SALMON BENEDICT (4/5): Very rich and savory; a solid eggs benedict SUGAR-DUSTED RICOTTA BEIGNETS (2/5): The lemon curd is delicious, but you're really not missing out on the beignets. These are basically donuts trying to pass off as beignets; do not be fooled lol. CORNED BEEF HASH (4/5): Great for meat lovers; super hearty but wish the potatoes were crispier :( There are 3 separate seating areas -- the main dining room; bar area, and outdoor deck (which comes with heat lamps). Service was a bit slow during my visit, but the servers were quite friendly and personable. I've actually only been here for brunch, but the dinner menu also looks delightful. There's only one word for the ambience, the hospitality and the food - Phenomenal! Service is top notch which is why I love this place. We tried the following : Blue Crab avocado toast - Loved it minus the Arugula. Ricotta Beignets with lemon curd - Dusted with sugar and pair well with the lemon curd. Can be classified as a dessert honestly. Tartines with strawberries, ricotta cheese and mint leaves - Spectacular. that combination of ricotta cheese and strawberries is amazing. Must try. Chicken sandwich with wedges - Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Exactly how a sandwich should be. Plus the spicy aioli did wonders to the flavor. For drinks we tried the Hot Chocolate and Third Shift. Both drinks were damn good. Please do reserve a spot beforehand as it can get quite busy, even on weekdays. First let me start by saying that Erica, our server, was fabulous! next, my issues with this place and some good too. First of all, the food was not on point. We had the chicken sandwich which we found not only to be bland but also to have some sort of weird cut of chicken that had weird tube things in it and tons of grossle. IWe did not even eat half of it. That is a big no if we ever went back. Next, the Hamachi Crudo, not good. Wrong type of sauce that wnd too many dark areas, big turn off. We spend a lot of time in hawaii so that was not even 25% as good as what we get there and honestly, there is no reason for this. The sauce needs to be balanced and the tuna MUST be clean cuts, no brown. I ate about half of that. Next, the Bone Marrow. My partner was not a fan but AI suspect she just didn't care for the fat rendering that occur when you bake the marrow. Maybe not their fault, but she ate less than half of it. See a pattern here yet?! The beignets were not beignets, they were sugar donuts! The lemon curd was horrible too. True Beignets have a power sugar coating and on the side cream if anything. We ordered salted Carmel gelato to go with them and it was awesome, so awesome that we stopped even trying to eat the beignets and just ate the gelato...once again, leaving over half the order to go to waste. The wedges and dip had no flavor...didn't finish those either. The beet tartine was so-so, wouldn't order it again either if I ever went back (which I highly doubt I ever will) The Burrata Tartine and the kale salad were very good. The croutons on the salad feel very short though, they seemed like boxed croutons. Their complimentary bread was great as was the butter. They charged us a 5% credit card fee for using our credit card which is ridiculous and ethical! This is aprt of doing business and honestly I am sick and tired of fees like this along with fees that support their staff. I used to wait tables in my early years and servers know what they sign up for as far as hourly rates and tips and great restaurants cover the expenses these fees say they are meant to cover as part of running a business. This is not our responsibility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I disapprove of these fees so much that I typically won't go back to a place that charges them...sick of it! And we drop good money when we go out. This little visit where we only ate less than half the food cost us around $225. Not a good use of our time, money or calories. We won't be back and if I had to pinpoint the top reason, it would be the credit card fees as otherwise we may have given them another chance. FOOD: the food here is definitely good. My work came here for nurses week lunch on a Friday. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. I had the pan roasted salmon. Salmon wasn't fishy meaning they prepared it well. The couscous was cooked just right. Arugula on top was fresh. They let you know what entrees or ingredients they've run out of before you order. Definitely get the housemate horchata if you are a fan of horchata. SERVICE: the server was fine but the food took a while and came out at different times so the people who got their food first were trying to wait for everyone else and it was a long at. But to make up for it they gave us a free order of beignets that were yummy too. VENUE is in Willow Glen on the corner across from Bill's. Parking can be hard either street parking in the residential or Main Street or in a garage or behind the businesses in the back. They have seating indoors and outdoors. Is the Table still keeping up with their standards? I went to the Table for a business meeting on Friday. Server was nice, took our orders. My group ordered 2 salmon salads, reuben, and fish burger. Everything seemed fine and looked like they ran our orders quickly since my 2 other colleagues got their reuben and fish burger after 15mins. They were waiting for my food and other girl's to come out at the same time so we can start together but ... 30 mins later, still no salmon salad. Server didn't even swing by to give us update so we had to call a different server nearby. 5 minutes later, out plate came out and the picture below is what i have. The piece of salmon was not cut properly but looked like it was hand torn. The salmon was over sprinkled with salt that i had to scrape it off.
