Food- started with pork dumplings, a very well known dish at this place, and popular for a reason. Great flavor, just enough kick of heat, crunchy shell, soft pork middle. Would come again just for this. Then had the Cubano sandwich. It's very large, could have split this dish with someone its alot of meat, so heavy dish. I also had some of the broccoli dish, that was tasty too, I liked it, great amount of sweet tang with the crunch of the broccoli. Will have to come back and try more dishes read more

We sat under the giant tiki roofed patio and enjoyed the rain storm. We got the famous pork dumplings, cheeseburger, and noodles w shrimp. Everything was a kind of reaction. The outdoor patio (particularly the area with kings chairs and sand) transports you beyond the southern Houston landscape and into a tropical world where it's perhaps not so humid (and y'all know how I love experience eating). After all of that here's what we ate/drank: *Captains grog- it was fine. *Sweet and sour cauliflower- crispy, well seasoned, fantastic. *Lamb flatbread- the spice might get ya, but delicious. The yogurt sauce is certainly an added bonus. *Chocolate chocolate pie- don't call it Nobies (but it sure tastes the same :)) Do it. It'll be your best decision all week. *Tres Leches- meh I'll pass on their non traditional remix, there's something unsavory about the texture of the topping imo. This place is located walking distance from where I live and it always intrigued me because of the grass hut eating area and the crowds it attracts. I went there early Sunday evening and was greeted by a friendly hostess. We sat in hut because I brought my dog and it was a beautiful evening. The waiter was great and very chill . Someone brought the dog water without even asking,, Excellent ! We tried 2 things the lamb flatbread and and a spicy noodle dish. Th bread was vas crispy with a lot of flavor, but very little meat. The noodle were seasoned nicely , but were just spaghetti noodles tasted like the just came out of box .The prices were reasonable. I did not have the cocktails but I believe that is their specialty. I travel for work to Houston a few times a year and a friend recommended the Toasted Coconut on my last trip. I was feeling beachy so a Tiki bar had all the right vibes and I am SO GLAD I gave it a shot. First off, they have great outdoor space and the inside is spacious. They were already pretty packed but the host was super accommodating and found us some seats at the bar. I am a sucker for Gin so I ordered the Rings of Saturn which is gin, cachaca, mango, with a chili salt rim. It was fruity, tropical, and a bit tart - I loved it. Plus all the drinks come with some whimsical garnishes. This drink was way too easy to sip on, so it left me in need of food. :) We ordered the Pork Dumplings and Crispy Brussel Sprouts. Both of which were VERY tasty. The Dumplings had a good amount of heat to them as well. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, service was great, drinks and food were both incredible and I plan to return on my next trip to Houston! read more

What we ordered- - Lamb Flat Bread- 10/10. This was absolutely amazing. So flavorful and delicious - Spiced Fries 10/10 can't go wrong with fries especially ones with spicy seasoning. This was good and the dipping sauce it came with was great - OG Fried Chicken- 8/10 these were small pieces of fried chicken. The outside coating was crunchy and good but the inside was a tad bit dry. Parking here is kind of hectic. It's a small lot so if you come on a busy night like we did parking was stressful. Lovely, super low key bar. Enjoyed this place for its speciality cocktails and lite bites. The first 2 drinks we got were delicious - tropic like it's hot and vamos a la playa. Not super sweet, the tropics drink had a perfect hit of spice. We did go downhill from these gem drinks; the ring of Saturn was frozen and a bit too sweet and the blood & sandals was far sweeter than expected. The food was tasty too - pork dumplings, lamb flat bread and brussels sprouts. The sauce on the pork dumplings were amazing - think they fried shallots or garlic and had it in a spicy sauce (so good!). The lamb flatbread is deep fried and infused with all the lamb flavor - sounds weird, but a pretty unique and special dish. I would be fine skipping the sprouts - not great. read more

My table went family-style and everyone got their own entree, and we shared sweet & sour cauliflower and spiced fries. Three of us got the dumplings and another friend got the hummus. Overall a good place to visit if you're planning on meeting a friend for drinks. It's a beautiful tiki restaurant inside. I got a cheeseburger and while I'm a big fan of smashed burgers, my biggest complaint about was that it tasted a little too sweet for my liking. I am not a big fan of my dinner/main meal reminding me of dessert and I wish the patty itself had more seasoning such as salt. The fries were good but also a little too sweet for my liking, I am not sure what seasoning was used. Their friend chicken was AMAZING. The perfect spice kick and extremely crunchy. The service was good and everyone was friendly. We did have to wait quite a bit for our checks once we finished eating, but that's not the end of the world for me. read more

Are you a resort lover? Need a vacation, but the way your checking and savings account is set up... I love feeling like I get to temporarily transport myself to a luxury resort once I step inside this restaurant. I can almost feel the ocean breeze as I sip on my tropical cocktail. I don't even drink rum, but I do today. Lol It's easy for me to spend a few hours here without realizing it. The atmosphere is relaxing and the service is attentive but not disruptive. The food is delicious and not too heavy. I recommend the OG chicken, sweet & sour cauliflower, and ANY of the featured drinks. I also recommend sitting indoors, so you can truly "transport on a budget", otherwise the reality of being in humid Houston will slap you in the face on the patio... This is a great spot to get your tiki fix! In the shared parking lot with Revelry (you can park anywhere in that lot), The Toasted Coconut is a hidden oasis in the city. We didn't have a reservation since we were just coming in for an after work happy hour so we sat in their sandbox patio. With the nice weather the paved patio was full from reservations, so consider making one of you have a group. As for the drinks, I had to get the namesake Toasted Coconut, a frozen coconut and rum concoction as well as the Blue Hawaiian. Both drinks were excellent and had great presentation (hello, Instagram!). Service was attentive, fast, and friendly. Give this spot a try next time you are looking for an escape from the typical bustling city spots. read more

The staff was super kind to walk us through the menu. Super friendly too! The drink itself was so prettily decorated, strong content and so good! Really hit that spot. Went on a Tuesday with a group of 5 on a friend's recommendation. Couldn't get a reservation so we took a chance and did a walk in. We ended up getting the lounge area, as it was either sitting outside on the patio or inside the lounge area. That's the way to go! You get your own private section to relax and chill. The area had 2 tables that we pushed together since we ordered so many things. Now onto the food: I am not one for szechuan spices because if it's not done right, it can numb you up and ruin the meal. But they do it sooo good here. I kept going back to the food. Their burgers, fries and Brussels sprouts are to die for. The burger and fries were so good, we ended up ordering a second round. My boyfriend isn't typically a fan of seafood, but he devoured the Baja mussels. I liked that it came with some bread to dip into the sauce. I think the only thing I wouldn't order again are the dumplings. They were good, but not anything special to order again. Great service, great vibes, and great drinks! I came here with a small group of friends on a Saturday night, and this is such a great place to catch up with friends. We came at around 9:30pm and were all able to find parking in the lot. They also offer really good food too. My boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich, and I got the burger. They were both great and filling. The drinks here are really good and also strong. I got "the toasted coconut" drink, which was really good! Our server was very friendly, and gave great recommendations. The vibes here were just great, and I would definitely come back. read more

You can't miss them from the street from the bright pink neon lights located on the outside of the building .We had somewhat of a time parking which was a little frustrating. We ended up driving further down from the establishment and parking on the side of the street . When we walked up their was a guy sitting out front that said he worked at the bar and directed us in from the side of the building . We knew instantly we wanted to sit outside . I had this on my list of places to go for over a year. I finally went and will sadly never be returning. Service: 7/10 only because at one point our server totally disappeared to talk with some female guests and left us awkwardly waiting and trying g to get the attentions of other servers for like 15 minutes.
