We thought it was a bit too loud inside so we sat on the patio. We were also able to keep our toddler in her stroller that way (they have high chairs as well). They seemed pretty kid-friendly and had paper/crayons to offer. 2. We tried a few dishes from the menu and nothing really left a lasting impression. The OG Fried Chicken was crispy but dry on the inside. The Pork Dumplings were flavorful but looked a little pink on the inside so they freaked me out. The Unsolicited Noodz and the Toco Fried Rice with Shrimp didn't stand out in any way. The Crispy Eggplant was probably my favorite dish of the day although I don't think I'd order it again. 3. I found our waitress very disappointing. She began the experience with an inappropriate joke and then disappeared for so long that we had to flag down another employee to put in our order. Shout out to Peter for taking the time to patiently take our order, make enthusiastic recommendations, and just make us feel welcome and taken care of overall (especially when it wasn't even his table). My final complaint may be petty to some but not to me. Our waters stopped getting refilled and remained empty for a long while. I'm pregnant and it was a hot day -- I was really thirsty. Following up on my original review. I've been here quite a bit since that review as it's a fave with some friends. First, I'd consider this more of a tiki bar first and a restaurant second, but they deliver on both! Factors to consider: The parking situation is very hit and miss. There is not much to be had and units usually quite full, but there is some street parking around the area if you look and are willing to walk a bit. If you're nearby, a shared ride service is probably easier. It's very tiki bar themed and delivers on that front if you're going for that experience. The cocktails are beyond ordinary tiki though! Food & Drink - 5* I'd recommend just about any cocktail here. They have ones that pack a punch (Zombie) while others that are more sweet and less boozy (traditions Singapore sling). I personally love the Rocket to the Moon or the Harvest Moon, but there are plenty of greats: Tropic Like It's Hot, Miss Cleo's Revenge, Jungle Bird. I can't say we ever come here solely for the food, but don't take that the wrong way. It's delicious. Shareable bites is the way to go if you're in a group. They have something for everyone! Cost & Service - 4.5* The food and drinks are competitively priced and deliver every time. The service has never disappointed. They frequently stop in to see if you want to put more food or drinks in. Overall They deliver consistently. There have been plenty of tiki style bars come and go in this town, but this place is a cut above in all aspects. I have driven past this place 1000 times and never knew it was a restaurant. I literally thought it was a club..lol I heard about the tequila speakeasy and was very interested to go. I really recommend the Cheeseburger and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The cheeseburger is a smashed burger style, which I absolutely love. An absolute sleeper on the menu is the sweet-and-sour cauliflower. The breading and crunch on that, you almost forget that you're eating cauliflower and not chicken. Me and my friends tried the Toasted Coconut out in celebration of a birthdayyyy! They have happy hour from 4-6 pm and it's the cutest little lowkey spot. Outside they have a tiki hut you can fit under and another area with sand and shaded seats. Super cute! They also have a fountain outdoors and lots of foliage. Inside is pretty cute too! They have foliage and super cute lighting on the ceiling. So either place you dine could be picture worthy haha. We opted to sit outside. Service was great! Our server Austin was super helpful, suggestive, and attentive. Even the staff responsible for serving food and water were on it! I'm talking about our water cups were never empty haha. And the food came out super quick! The food was great! If you're contemplating on an appetizer I recommend the lamb flatbread it's bomb! A little bit of a spicy kick but the tzatziki sauce kind of cools it down. The brussel sprouts I had from there were great too. The portion sizes are pretty nice. I enjoyed my experience at The Toasted Coconut. Came here on a Friday night to celebrate my 27th birthday. The vibe is tropical but chill. We started with the lamb flatbread which was so tasty and would definitely recommend. I had the honey chicken biscuit and the flavors contrasted perfectly for me, the slice of cheese added the necessary flavor to offset the sweet and fried flavors (yum!) the brussel sprouts did not disappoint either and definitely would recommend as a starter. This place was such a great find! . I went on Saturday around 10 and it was not that full, it was nice to have a sit down food option opened late. We sad outside and they had space heaters to keep us warm. The staff was so nice and made sure to be really careful around someone with a severe shellfish allergy. The food was amazing! This review is for event hosting in their private room. We met with our book club, and having never heard of this place I was intrigued! The menu looks so good, and so many veggie options, and even mocktails! The private room has ample seating, and although it feels intimate, as a curtain divider is used to separate from the main eating space, we were promptly served and are needs were seen to every step along the way. They also do the European thing where they bring the card swiper machine to you, instead of walking away with the bill, and it makes for splitting the bill with a large group, super easy. While this review is for the toasted coconut, it's actually for Quiote inside. The entrance is so cute! They take you in through a private room and then open up this super heavy door laden with layers of floral arrangement. The set up of the bar is like your standard bar (think Omakase bar set up). Once seated we ordered. We started the night with the Ahuvo and la Companita. The egg white in ahuvo was reminiscent of a white russian while the roasted bell pepper flavor in la companita really made for an interesting aftertaste. From comida we got the king crab tamale a la frank, steak tartare, and the scallop crudo. First food that came out was the scallop crudo and it was so neatly organized. While the presentation was outstanding, I did find the food to be on the saltier side. Next, came the tartare which was perfect! The nuts on top were such a wonderful garnish accompanied by the tiny piped out guac. I seriously could go back just for one more of those. Finally came out the tamale. While the tamale was absolutely delicious, the portion was tinier than the rest of the dishes. I was pleasantly surprised that I wanted to order a regular marg after such an amazing meal. I believe it may have been because there were no desserts on the menu. Thankfully that was the perfect nightcap to end the night. The sweet and sour cauliflower was delicious, the jalapeño poppers on the other hand- not so yummy. The dipping sauce was okay though. If I remember correctly the poppers are not on the menu. The food is fusion, and honestly just OK. I think the positives of this establishment is the atmosphere of enjoying an evening drink with friends. That being said, for being known for drinks, they didn't live quite up to the hype. Be sure to ask the server for off the menu items - they can make drinks such as "the Hurricane" posted by past Yelpers if they have all the ingredients, even if not on the menu. The "coquito" I tried, a supposed "seasonal favorite" was not palatable for me, and only one out of our party of seven thought it was good. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong items, but I wasn't particularly impressed by the food selection, especially at their price point. The fried chicken, sauce, and fries were great. That I would recommend. Other items, such as the highly recommended pork dumplings, were way too salty. The papaya salad was pretty mediocre, and not well seasoned.
