So I am in the minority here...I found the service "so so" at best and the food "ok". I walked in and no one greeted me. After a couple of minutes a waitress walked up and said, just sit any where. The tables either needed to be cleared or were occupied so I popped upstairs where the same situation awaited me. I saw a table being cleared downstairs so I made the journey to that one. I passed a couple of waitress on my way down the steps and the salads they were taking up looked fantastic. I was looking forward to a healthy, tasty salad for lunch. My client and I sat about 15 minutes until our a waitress came by to take our drink order. My client got an ice tea I tried the pineapple lemonade. The tea got a thumbs up, the lemonade was pretty, multi colored and ok in flavor but so much pineapple was getting sucked up in the straw it was difficult to drink an the more I drank it the less I liked it. The waitress took our order (we both ordered the shrimp salad with chili Thai dressing) and I told her we'd need silverware since none was set on our table. The food took a long, long, long time to come. When it did come she brought one set of silverware and and extra fork. Since the salad greens were large & the shrimp had their tails on I asked for an extra knife...another wait and I never got the glass of water I requested, twice. On to the food review. When our salads arrived mine was about a third smaller than my client's, but we both had the same amount of shrimp. The greens contained a lot of endive and kale, and other tough greens- not too tender or inviting, but defiantly "good for you" The dressing and seasoning on the shrimp was seasoned well but they were a bit over cooked. Neither my friend or I finished our salads...her comment was "There is not enough dressing and it's good, but it tastes too healthy." I have to say I felt the same way. A little romaine, iceberg, butter lettuce or baby spinach in the mix would have given me that tender summer salad I love. I never saw the waitress to get our check, so we finally went to the register and told them what we ordered, the waitress then came over to confirm it. The check out process was not speedy either. What I didn't like 1.The place is just OK if not low budget on decor. Such a cute space and so under utilized. 2. The copy paper menu was recycled too many times 3. The photo menu that was in poor condition 4. The slow service & no one came back to check on us 5. Slow check out because the waitress had to confirm our order and also I was here on a business lunch I needed a receipt. I had to type in my email to get one because they don't give out receipts...from a business perspective this is annoying. 6. Parking lot was small and parking is limited. 7. No one to greet you or lack of a sign that says seat yourself. 8. Lemonade is served in plastic take out cups, while other drinks are served in glassware. What I liked 1. Location 2. The idea of a healthy for you dining option 3. The way the lemonade looked- very pretty- wish It tasted as good as it looked. 4. The seasoning on the shrimp was nice...not great but nice. Let me start off by saying, My boyfriend and I LOVE Upper Room...but yesterdays meal was not very enjoyable. I ordered steak with hoisin sauce, mac and cheese, and mash potatoes. I was surprised when my steak came with barbecue sauce...not that big of a deal. I decided to eat it anyways. My problem was that my steak was pretty burnt. I don't mind a little char but it was burnt to where the taste even overpowered the barbecue sauce. My boyfriend's chicken was also too burnt for his liking. The other issue was the mash potatoes--I wished it had more richness and flavor to it. The mac and cheese was pretty good, definitely satisfied my craving. I'm definitely not giving up on Upper Room because I've had really good meals at this place prior to our recent visit. Possibly an off day? read more

Went for lunch today and really enjoyed it. The venue used to be old and dark, but they really took the place and updated it to feel fresh and quaint. The menu is pretty simple, one side is for cold salads, the other a hot plate. I chose the hot plate, actually for the meat I chose seared ahi. It was excellent. You then choose a brown rice, quinoa, glass noodles or a couple other choices, then finish it with a vegetable. I chose quinoa and brussel sprouts. It was lovely, fresh, and the perfect size. I also chose the chimichuri sauce, then also asked for a side of sweet chili sauce. Everything was great, we felt the service was a bit slow and had to ask for something a couple of times as we were waiting. I tend to look at the bathroom as a major indication off the overall cleanliness of the restaurant, and I'm happy to say that this one was clean and decorated cute. We will be back to try the other items on the menu for sure! They do have specials to check out too. Just an update, there is a brand new owner as of May 27, 2018. Great guy, go see Brad. I've always been a fan of the food here, but had stopped going as often due to the lousy service. Well, I decided to stop in today since I heard ownership had recently changed. I ordered my fave salmon salad to-go and was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted quickly and was offered ice water while I waited. The waitress checked on me a couple times to update me on my order, which was nice! I watched as other customers came in and out...it was clear that the service has definitely improved! Went for the 1st time a few weeks ago. I ordered chicken with hoisen sauce with broccoli. t was very good. My friend ordered brussel sprouts which I had never tasted before. They were awesome!!!! I also ordered a berry drink that was delicious and thick. The only thing I have to mention is that they need more serving staff. At least 2 more for lunch and dinner service. So my son was in charge of ordering food for us tonight and he choose Upper Room. He put down sweet potatoes for me instead of sweet potato fries so I called the restaurant just to ask for a side. The owner was a bit puzzled why I would order just sweet potato fries. So I had to throw my son under the bus and say he screwed up my order. Long story short, the owner said no worry, he's got me..... and delivered them. To my house. No charge. The salmon was delicious as always and I got my sweet potato fry fix. I tried The Upper Room for the first time this week and I can't wait to go back. I must say this is one of my new favorite spots in Tracy. Everything about The Upper Room is great! The atmosphere is perfect, very spacious and it's decorated so nicely. There was an area upstairs with a tv where the kids were hanging out which is great so you can bring the whole family. The owners were awesome, they were welcoming,explained the menu to us and continued to make sure we were satisfied with everything. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! We tried the build your own plate, one with salmon the other with the ahi tuna... both were sooooo good, it's impossible to say which I liked more. Also the drinks (we tried the pearly gates and caliberry) were tasty and refreshing especially in this hot weather. Overall a great experience and I can't wait to try everything on the menu. But what got to us was the terrible service we received from the waitress Emily. The other waitress there was polite but Emily had an attitude. I think this place is a great place to eat at and I have eaten here for over a year. I would like to see this place continue to be successful but I believe it is really important to have a consistent recipe/cook. I asked them why does the food always taste different. They said it depends on the cook. Every time I go I never know what version of brocolli (soft, crunchy), salmon (tender or well cooked) or macaroni and cheese (3 different versions: runny, just right or so much cheese I had to find the noodles), I am going to get. The decor is two story loft. The bar is complete as is the beer list. Wine is not their strong suit. If you are feeble skip the upstairs. Can get a little noisy up there during sports anyway. First time here thought I'd give it a shot the reviews look great along with the pictures. Not what I experienced food was below average same with the drinks. I order the shrimp with mashed potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts. The shrimp was OK but I could cook better at home. The mashed potatoes were great I really enjoyed them. The crispy brussels sprouts were average I've had better. My drink was Moscow Mule comparing it to other Moscow mules around Tracy it was below average. My wife ordered the chicken and garlic and butter potato fries and crispy brussels sprouts. The chicken looked grilled but was plain and dry almost like a shredded chicken it reminded me of the frozen chickens from Costco. Total cost $70-$80. The waitress was nicethe location was unique I really like the outside seating. Probably won't return don't feel like I got the value of quality for the price paid him I would recommend getting better food on the menu. I am not a big lemonade fan but their flavors are so fun and not too sweet. My only complaint is sometimes they take a while with to-go orders even when they don't seem super busy. I have visited this place a few times. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. I give it three stars because the three times my fiancé and I have eaten here the meat is always over done and very chewy. I like the concept of the menu to pick a protein, carb and vegetable. We have thought to give them another chance, but the over cooked protein (meat, fish, shrimp) keeps us from coming back. I did mention to the waitstaff about the food being overcooked and they mentioned they had a new cook. Hopefully the over cooked protein gets fixed. read more

I really love this trendy new restaurant. The menu is cool in how you can pick one protein, one starch, and one vegetable. You can mix and match any combination and add different sauces to your dish. The food isn't heavy or overbearing. I felt like I was eating clean and wasn't overstuffed but definitely satisfied. The drinks are very tasty and interesting looking too. They look very tropical with their fruit flavors and colors that give an ombre effect when poured. I enjoyed sitting on the second level by the window and watching the cars drive by. It brought back memories of my childhood. The only part that I didn't care for was having to pay the bill downstairs at the register which is in a tiny corner of the bar. It felt too tight. Ill just get right to it... I was underwhelmed with the set up of the Bloody Mary bar, the mix was not that great no celery, no serving utensils, and not the best products or presentation. I was hoping for better options since I had to make the Bloody Mary myself. With that said, the food was pretty darn good, I got the chorizo eggs Benedict, and everything was cooked perfectly. I wish the portion was a little bigger or that they possible offered toast or pancakes along side with you bennies and potatoes... I still went down to the bistro after and had French toast and one of their bloody Mary's. Overall though I was happy with the food and the service was pretty decent. read more
