I've only had the Chicago style pizza and it is top notch! Every bit as good as what I had at the famed Pizzeria Due in downtown Chicago. You might think it's slightly pricey for the size... until you feel how HEAVY the box is and realize you won't be able to finish a second slice. I ordered the City in a Garden and Windy City pizzas--one vegetarian, the other meat-heavy. Both were fantastic. I noticed when ordering that I could order a pizza with the same ingredients as the Windy City and it would actually be about 60 cents cheaper. But I spent the extra pennies and asked when I got there what the difference was. I was told that for the Windy City they'll put on about 1/4 again as much of the ingredients as if I'd ordered those toppings separately. So it was definitely a good deal. Pro-tip: If you're ordering pizza to go, pick it up yourself and transport it home carefully. Put it on the FLOOR of your vehicle so it will stay as level as possible. Ease into your stops and take your turns slowly. There is a LOT of thick sauce and cheese and toppings that can move around. I put mine in the passenger seat which has just enough of an incline that a lot of sauce and topping drifted toward the lower end. It was a bit messy to redistribute, but still delicious! I don't even want to think what it would have looked like if the typical Door Dasher had tossed the pizzas in the back seat of his jalopy and burned rubber to my place. Here's a tip on re-heating if you have leftovers. First heat your slice(s) up in the microwave until the top is warm. This takes a surprisingly long time--two minutes in our microwave but yours may be more powerful. THEN put it in a frying pan on medium heat for 13 minutes. This will crisp up the bottom nicely and make sure the heat goes all the way through. If you do this it'll be almost as good as fresh. One note to the people at Third Coast: consider putting waxed paper or a corrugated waxed lining along the bottom of the box. Our boxes got pretty soggy and I was worried the pizza might tear through the bottom. To be fair, it never did, so maybe I'm worrying over nothing. read more

They know sauce, and sauce is key. This establishment has the pizza you've been craving. The pizza that entices you the whole drive home with the box in the passenger seat. A strong, flakey pie crust that envelopes a swimming pool of cheese, marinara, and any topping you desire. What seems to be a relatively simple recipe is made phenomenal by their wood-burning oven and truly magical pizza sauce. Couldn't recommend enough! read more

Alright, I went 3 times last week to try everything. Thats how excited I was to have a chicago pizza and beef place in town. First the Italian beef sandwich and fries. The meat was great, the gravy good. The giardiniera mediocre, the bread bad. The giardiniera comes on the sandwich, so make sure you specify if you don't want it. It was a bit too olivey and not enough heat for my taste. Plus, it should only come on it if ordered. I'll order without if I go again. Hopefully they figure out the bread, because it was not good. Too much of it, and too dry. Another down side to this was that it was $13 and some change for the sandwich and fries and no drink. That alone will probably steer me away unless they get some lunch specials or a lunch menu. It was definitely not worth that as it is now. Next trip I had the chicago dog(sorry no pics). It was.....ok. All of the toppings were great. I didn't care for the bun again, it was just way too big. And the hot dog itself tasted like it had been in a tub of hot water for way too long. I know thats they way they are normally done, but if you aren't busy enough to go through them faster then you probably need to cook them as they are ordered. 3rd trip I got the pizza. The crust was awesome. Other than that, it was pretty plain which seems strange because we ordered the one that has scimecas meatballs and sausage. Any spice or flavor of that was just drowned out by too much sauce and it was very bland, almost like no oregano or italian seasoning was in it at all. You can see in the picture that it just looks like(and tasted like) tomato sauce. This was a good deal though at around $15 and easily fed 2 big guys with a couple pieces left over. I wanted to love this place because I love all the food they serve but am pretty luke warm so far. Like the guy above me said, its a 2.5 star rounded up to 3 for me. It's close though, I feel like they can work out a couple small things and it will be much better. I'll give it a while before trying again. read more

This was my first time trying a deep dish pizza and I was not disappointed! I got the second city and city in a garden deep dish pizzas and they were much better than I could have expected. First impressions of the pizza itself is a bit iffy as all you can see is the sauce but once you bite into it, all the doubts go away. If left there and knew the location but couldn't find it, went across the street and drove pass the location and it was right there, on the corner, it's small place, I went in and had the Detroit dog it had toppings overflowing and buck more side salad with Italian dressing homemade, it was filling too, small business pop runs it mom comes in and works a day, family comes in when they have to, it got busy when I was there, talk to a couple who found this place during Labor Day weekend and they came back, does that tell you something about this place, been in business for while now, the pasta was good , u get points each time u spend money, your second time u get free fries, mon Thur Friday they have a lunch special just like other places, comic on the wall for display, plenty of parking, no beer or internet but that's a must try read more

If you love Chicago-style pizza, this place is the one to go to. They do have a limited choice of toppings for it, and it is an up charge, but I felt it was worth it. There is plenty on the smallest that it will feed 2 people. There was only one person working behind the counter when we arrived, so service wasn't the best, but we had gone in the middle of a Sunday afternoon just when it started getting busier. Expect to wait another 30 minutes for Chicago style, but again, it's worth the wait, and we could watch preseason football on the big screens. read more

Amazing pizza! Went with my boys and hubby. We had a half cheese, half pepperoni thin crust. Came out pipping hot and full of flavor!! The hubby said that even the cheese has flavor! We went to Third Coast Pizza tonight. I haven't been to Chicago in a long time, so I haven't had traditional deep dish pizza for years. But this pizza tastes just like I remember it!! It. Was. FABULOUS! And, I love the fact that they use local ingredients. The owner was the nicest man. Comfortable dining room...nothing fancy...just casual and enjoyable! We will definitely be back. We love coming here! We usually get a deep dish once a month give or take, because it lasts the two of us a week! This time we tried something different. I got a Chicago Dog, which I haven't had since I lived in Chicago a few years ago. This one was just as good as "back home." The fries were also superb. I got them as an afterthought, honestly, but I liked them even more than the hot dog! We've ordered from here twice this week now and it has been EXCELLENT both times. The staff was incredibly friendly both times- bonus points for their kindness to my wild toddler running all over the place when we got our carry out order- and the food... so delicious. We ordered the regular crust the first time (with beef, onions, and green pepper)- it's a cracker crust, but thick enough to hold all the ingredients without getting soggy or falling apart. The veggies are SO fresh. Tonight we got another regular crust, but also a deep dish (pepperoni, mushroom, green pepper). The sauce is so good! Just the right amount of sweetness. The crust was the perfect mix of doughy, buttery, and crispy. Can't recommend Third Coast enough. I don't write many reviews but felt like I had to do whatever I could to get the word out for my own selfish reasons- I want this place to be around a LONG time! read more

It's the best deep dish pizza in the KC area, and one of my top 3 pizzas in KC. The large will feed a crowd of 4-6 and the small will feed 2-3. My husband and I always get the small and despite his above average appetite, we have leftovers. So I really, really , really wanted to love this place. After having authentic Chicago deep dish pizza with my chicago native wife on vacation, I've always wanted to find something at least really similar at home, when I lived in Atlanta, I finally found a place called "Nancy's" (check it out if ever in that area) , but since moving to Kansas city its really only been "Rosati's" that's been somewhat close to what I remember, So you can imagine my delight when I found out about Third Coast, homemade Giardiniera is really on point, my wife's Italian beef was great! She loved it..(which is saying something) but man this pizza crust is all wrong!!! it's got no taste to it at all, its too flakey and doesn't have the almost biscuit/cornmill like taste that i had in so many places in Chicago, also the sauce doesn't really have much flavor.. it fell really flat on my tongue.. like tomato paste. So I'll continue to search for a great chicago pizza outside of chicago. Thanks for the otherwise great good, I would definitely recommend this place for their beef and other foods, but I can't recommend their deep dish pie read more

Absolutely disappointing Did a takeout order a few days back. Ordered a large Chicago deep dish lite sauce and extra cheese, order of wings, side salad and extra ranch and blue cheese. I pick up the order and on my way home the sauce from the pizza is completely dripping all over my vehicle. Lite sauce??? More like extra sauce. As I get it home and open the box sauce is everywhere and the pizza dough specifically the crust is not even cooked. I open the wings and those are undercooked a well. Now to top it all off, I pick up the bag that has the dressings to put in my fridge and the bag breaks and now I have a dressing all over my floors. Why not buy higher quality bags or double bag it? After running some errands tonight, we decided to stop and eat. All our "usuals" were busier than we wanted to deal with so we kept driving. We'd both seen this place, not living very away at all, and decided that it would perfect. There were a few tables with people (around 7:30 on a Thursday night) so it wasn't crowded at all. This was a pizza place before but I don't remember it having as much room. Anyway, on to the food. The specialty pizzas are not the run of the mill choices. They had a lot of good ones. We decided on the "church lady" with fresh mozzarella, pepperoni and giardiniera. Oh yeah, and crushed garlic. Yummy. We got the regular crust but they offer deep dish too. Saw a couple of those go past our table. Those looked really good. Oh well, next time. And yes, there will be a next time. We brought home basically a small pizza. I was looking for a good Italian Beef Sandwich and this place was recommended. Although it was a bit out of my way, I am glad I made the effort. The Italian Beef Sandwich was exceptional and full of flavor. The bun was perfect for dipping as well. To round out the meal I ordered fries (which I typically do not do) and I am glad I did. The fries were perfectly, lightly browned, crispy on the outside and soft inside. This was quality food at a good price. An overall good value. I will go out of my way again soon. read more

We had the Second City, deep dish style tonight. The pizza was very good and loved the crust and red sauce. Our taste buds had us begging for a second slice, but we were both stuffed after one slice. We also had Caesar salads and the dressing was very good. Third Coast will probably become our new go to pizza spot. The crust was cracker style but fortunately not as thin as another local spot.
