I notice there aren't any recent posts for this business which is a little strange, but it's probably time for one. I love to support local family owned businesses here in Las Vegas. I came to Thomas about 10 years ago and had a great experience and was very satisfied with the work. I've read previous reviews and understand Walter unfortunately passed away some time ago and with him, a wealth of automotive knowledge and experience. I am a capable mechanic myself and usually do my own repairs but sometimes I just don't have the time and need a shop. My most recent visit was regarding my 4x4 not switching into 4wd low. I had already replaced a component so was familiar with the condition of other components such as the wiring harness for the encoder motor. My vehicle would go into and out of four high without problems, just not four low. No codes were thrown, no messages on my dash. I suspected the transfer case was the issue but wanted a professional opinion. I went to Thomas to have the issue diagnosed and was informed all clues were pointing to the speed sensors. I approved the work. These parts can be found for $30 each online and take about 25 minutes to replace. They charged me over $400 and the problem wasn't resolved. I didn't complain but felt it was an exorbitant amount for this job. Preston(?) told me it was probably the transfer case. I had to leave town for a couple weeks so just decided to order the part and do it myself when I got back. When I prepared to start I noticed the Check 4WD warning was on. Then I tried to shift into 4WD high and it wouldn't shift. These were not issues I had prior to their work. Then I went to start disconnecting the electrical from the transfer case and noticed one of the harness plugs was ruined. Broken wires and it wasn't attached to the mount on top of the unit where it should've been. From what I could gather, the wire harness was left hanging and got beat up by the drive shaft, causing me a nice new problem. I took my vehicle back and explained what I had found and what I suspected happened. I also pointed out that I had worked on this prior to them and that there was nothing wrong with the harness when I brought it to their shop, there were no issues with shifting into 4WD high, and no codes or warnings. He said he would talk to the mechanic who worked on it and get back to me. He called to tell me that the mechanic said everything was working as it was when dropped off. I argued it was not and in short, am now on the hook for repairing the damage they caused. It would have been nice if they had recognized the likelihood that this was due to their error in not reattaching the harness properly instead of just dismissing the obvious probability. Having personally worked on the vehicle and knowing full well the harness was in its proper place and un-damaged when it was dropped off leaves me frustrated to say the least. Due to their refusal to acknowledge their culpability I cannot recommend their services to anyone and highly recommend seeking other shops for your needs. By the way, they could've offered to fix the issue and split the cost with me but apparently that little bit of courtesy never crossed their minds. Not sure I would have taken them up on that offer but it would have been the better option rather than denying any fault. Save your money, save the stress, and save your vehicle from additional problems by going somewhere else. They're not what they used to be. read more

We'll see if this review doesn't get deleted... $166 for a synthetic oil change on a 3 series bmw? I doubt the dealership would charge me that much. Charging customers $11 per quart? Anyone can get it retail for $6! And they most likely get it by the barrel! I went in for some electric warning lights that come on since changing the battery. Computer reset? On the phone they said "no problem, we can do that" so I added in the earlier-than-needed oil change since I'd be there anyways and this place is supposed to be good so I gave them a little more work. Picked up the car... $166 oil change and "we couldn't reset the computer... We need more time if u want to leave the car" Went in with high hopes... They were dashed. Sad read more

I have been putting this review off for some time but it needs to be done before my next visit. I was having a hard time getting another shop to diagnose my emissions problems (loose fuel cap, and evap system) but I managed to get the car smoged; $1500 dollars later and the symptoms showed up again shortly after. I wanted to go to another shop but which one? $1500 is not chump change for a smog especially when the check engine light lights up shortly after you get the car smoged. I found Thomas Automotive and had them "smoke test" my evap system and they found a leaking canister valve (that was replaced by the previous shop). I got that fixed by Thomas Automotive and went back to the other shop to raise cane: but they were bought out my Mineki. I got the car smoged at Thomas but the check light came on shortly after. Walter at Thomas Automotive seems like a nice guy and I believe he gave me his best, good faith effort and service which is why I am going back to his shop with this emission issue for my smog. I did some research and found what I believe is the issue: I will have to see if Walter is able to diagnose this issue and fix it permanently. Because this issue was not resolved Thomas Automotive gets a 4 star rating till we fix it for good. Why would I give a shop 4 stars when they did not fix the issue? BECAUSE I feel Walter is acting in good faith and is trying to save me money. Stay tuned for a follow up: things can go up or down a star. I began having intermittent starting issues with my old car and ended up being stranded requiring a tow to a shop. I went straight to Yelp to find a good shop nearby and found Thomas Automotive. I called ahead and was given a warm welcome to bring the car there. Within just a few short hours on the same day, they had called me to tell me the car was ready. Much to my surprise! The only bummer is that an ill-fitting simple fuse ended up costing me a tow and just under a hundred dollars in labor. But they found the solution to the problem, tested the rest of the starting system and were honest with me. Plus they have a super cute Rottie​ as their shop mascot. Therefore, I give 5 stars.
