I order from Tijuana very often and never have an issue with their food. This time around was a whole different story. I ordered blackened chicken tacos and I received black bean tacos. Both orders of cookie dough flautas were under cooked and the chicken flautas were supposed to be blackened but they tasted bland. I'll be back most likely tomorrow but just thought they should be made aware of the issue. read more

Tijuana Flats Tyrone St Pete is well worth the drive. Making them a regular more than 3 times a week is a must. From the moment you start to walk in a team member is there to meet and greet you. They will ask you if it's your 1st time in and then they will explain the menus and help you to make the best choice. Everything is cooked fresh., no microwaves or frozen foods here. Once you place your order they will bring it to your table and read back everything you ordered just to make sure your meal is just what you ordered. They will stop by your table a few times asking if everything taste right and offer to refill your drinks. Not really sure what's the point of double checking my order if by the time I get it it's all wrong anyways. Everything that I asked for it to not have it did, and everything that was suppose to substituted it didn't come with. As a person who tracks their food and has allergies to specific ingredients that's pretty unacceptable to me. Especially when it's so slow to complete the order on top of everything else. Was at the TF location in Pinellas Park over the weekend and I just felt the need to put a review out there about an employee, Crystal, who took our order. She was unprofessional and quite rude. Never looked up from the register as she took our order and was curt with her responses. I have never had this kind of service here as we come in to eat at least 3-4 times a month. I think it was the manager that was there as well but I didn't feel comfortable telling her how Crystal treated us. They both seemed preoccupied like we were bothering them especially Crystal. Get staff in there that wants to engage with the customers not make them feel like we are a bother. read more

Its back in black! I love this chain, and this location. In SOuth Tampa, this location was owned by a franchisee, who bolted opened another place, and the location was reacquired by Flats, who runs it as a company store. What I like about the twist they have on texmex is that most everything is made the day you eat it. It doesn't sit and wait. Vegetables are crisp, tortillas are fresh, and the salsa is made there. It shows with the fresh flavor. My drink rarely runs out, and if I want more salsa or fresh japs, they are dished out liberally. Mexican-mexican food is nothing like american mexican food. In the US we are all about taking a food from someplace else and making it our own. I like having a variety of hot sauces, filling choices, and preparation styles in the mexican style. Flats takes over the mantle back from when they started with UCF grads in Orlando. I like to rate a place on its own terms, the food is fresh and well prepared, and if I don't like it, the company policy is to make it right. Too many places want to debate my tastes, and tell me what I want. It is a semi-automatic place, and the servers don't let me wait for a refill. The crazy party house decor and laid back attitude makes this a great choice for lunch or a two cerveza dinner! read more

Taco Tuesdays. Enough said. Just down the street from my office, Tijuana Flats is the popular Taco Tuesday spot. Not my favorite because parking is challenging at lunch because of nearby construction and during the summer the restaurant is very warm. Besides that, the food is good. I enjoy both the beef tacos and chimichunga. The tacos are a good size so I'm pretty content with just one. Because of the large portions, a coworker and I have actually opted to share a Taco Tuesday special, assuming the portions would be enough although we actually received a handful of chips. No exaggeration, we probably received less than 10 chips. Now I've been there before and ordered the special and received a bag full of chips so unfortunately consistency is not always the case. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but we paid a premium for the side of chips, not 10, and for a-ok food. Their saving grace is definitely the hot sauce bar though. A variety to choose from and a clever "smiley" face system to help you gauge your level of hotness. Ok, maybe it's the people too because the staff is friendly and comes around to fill up your drinks when needed....oh and let's not forget the very best thing about Tijuana Flats. Their crushed ice. TL;DR just go! Food: Holy crap. I'm writing this from the restaurant, it's so good. I'm in town for business and was craving some bomb Mexican food. After browsing Yelp for almost an hour, I settled on this place because of the vegetarian options. I took the first bite and literally thought, "holy sh*t," it was so good. I expected good, but this is AMAZING. Service: Ordering was super fast, and all of the employees were really helpful. Food brought right to me after just a couple minutes, and I was checked on twice while eating. Value: Fantastic. Atmosphere: Cool atmosphere, fun music, cool artwork on the walls. Since Yelp has become so critical, I really just want to begin my review by saying the efficiency and service here is not the problem. The employees that work here as for as I know are more then fine, however it's the quality and bizarre atmosphere at Tijuana Flats that has me absolutely puzzled this place is a four star "Tex Mex" place. No way over my dead body. I have been here three times. All three times I had an awkward experience. I rarely even use that word socially, but beginning with the menu- There isn't one item that sticks out as a seller. Since it's a fast casual category, I of course didn't know what to get each time. The quesadilla = probably the worst I ever had. Those are my favorites, Qudoba Mexican grill's is literally 10x better. Awful taste in my mouth from it. Tacos . Just ah: whatever. The hot sauce bar. Might be the strangest thing I have ever seen in a Mexican restaurant. The tastes? All the same. Too many spices that aren't even authentic (vinegar for example) that just turns me off. Taste was way off. Too many options? Yeah. This is just the icing on the cake. I love hot sauce but literally what? Okay, so I am not Mr. Politically correct, but the names of the sauces have cuss words on the labels. My colleagues and I were short on time and decided to try this place for lunch. We arrived a little bit before noon, which was good because the wait was not bad. The young lady taking our order at the counter was pleasant and competent. Once our orders were in, we took a seat and waited for the food to be delivered to our table. It took painfully long for our food to arrive. Waiting normally isn't a big deal, because half of eating out is enjoying conversation, but we were in a rush, so we really noticed how long it took. The food finally arrived, it was fresh and very good. I really enjoy the sauce bar, and tried several different sauces with my nachos. All in all this is a decent place for lunch. I was given a dirty Styrofoam cup that also was torn across the top. Then I found 2 hairs in my food. Eww. My refried bean flautas had a wierd texture. It felt like I was chewing on beef fat. On top of that, there was way too much cheese. Don't get me wrong, I am a cheese fanatic, but I could barely find my refried beans. The only positive was that the employees constantly asked "How is everything?" which means that they were able to readily correct any mistakes. I used to love Tijuana Flats having grown up in Orlando. Unfortunately the taco choice in this area are way better. Just went recently and I was just sort of disappointed with the flavor. The hot sauces have alway been good. This location though is still lackluster. The staff is awesome. In fact, they are over the top nice. The minute you walk in they want to help you. They offer you a drink before you're even close to ordering and water if you don't want a drink. Who ever their manager is has imparted some serious service skills. So I don't want my review to be about that, which is why it is 3 stars. I just don't think the food really lives up to what I want it to be. read more

This place is fantastic. My wife and I were in Florida last week visiting her grandma and going to the beach. And we decided to have a little bit of Mexican foods or we all went to Tijuana Flats. It is like a fast food establishment almost because you go through have a drive-thru and you can go up to the counter and order but they bring it to you certain not really a waiter or waitress but I do bring you your food and they will occasionally fill up your drinks if they see it but a lot of the times you walk up to the cash register and ask them for another refill which can get a little annoying but that's okay. Because the food absolutely makes up for it. I got a giant burrito and it had rice and beans and cheese and sour cream and all that good fattening stuff in it. It comes with a little thing of chips on the side scoop up the stuff that falls out which is a plus. My daughter got two tacos she ate one took one home I ate it later that night and my wife got these little fried chimichanga things which were fantastic as well I think overall for the four of us to eat and drinks it was around $32 which is not that bad really at all. I wish we had one in Louisville because I would love to go to it. I would highly recommend and we will be back the next time we are in Florida. read more

Love love love this place. It happens to be one of my favorites. I am so glad that they opened this in South Tampa. I'm a big fan of the chicken tacos in either soft or hard shell. I love the option of low fat cheese and sour cream (power lite). I also love adding beans and rice or salsa as well. They also have daily specials. The service is always great and my food comes out quickly. The parking can be tricky but after the businesses close you can use another lot. There is a nice patio to sit on as well and enjoy your meal. I will continue to visit this place and I need to venture out and try other menu items. read more

By far the best Tijuana Flats ive ever been too. This coming from a frequent Flats custy from orlando and been to atleast 10 different locations. I brought my girl here to try it out as she had never been. She ordered the wrong thing on accident and when asked if there was any way to fix it Jase fixed it no questions asked. He went above and beyond to make her experience delightful and for this we will now be customers for life. Customer service and food is 115% here and its so appreciated. I stopped in and placed an order to go. It was not busy, no line and maybe 6 people in the whole place eating. I waited for for at least 15 min for my food. When I got home and opened my bag I found the grossest quesadilla I've ever had. And the chips were soooo salty (and I like salt! But these chips were bad). This Tijuana Flats literally ripped me off!!!! We ordered through their website a double stack, trio, steak bowl, and churros. The steak bowl did not arrive - I called and the guy who answered asked if it was the steak bowl....Right there he already knew my order did not arrive complete and didn't call me to tell me. Then proceeds to tell me that he can't give me a refund because they go through ubereats (even though that's not the platform I used) and they can't send the food because he has no drivers. So, I am not getting my money back and I'm not getting the food. He did say he would take my name and I could go down there and get the steak bowl. I said I couldn't and I was surprised he couldn't refund me the money his reply "I don't control uber ma'am" no but you can control your crew and make sure that an order is correct before it leaves the store ---- I never ate at Tijuana Flats and I'm travelling, I don't live in town so getting this comped does nothing for me, I did this out of convenience. Their staff's attitude did nothing for me or the situation. The only reason I ordered from this place is because Green Lemon doesn't deliver - I learned my lesson. If I could give a place 500 stars, Tijuana Flats would be it. While I do enjoy dining at any of their locations, I just wanted to point out that the service and people at the Platt location are super friendly, timely, and just out right awesome. I have never had poor service, never a messed up plate. I would recommend Tijuana Flats to every single person I know. I eat here at least once a week, and recently found out that with my new diet I am starting, they offer low fat sour cream and cheese. AWESOME. Bottom line, one of the best places to eat in the Tampa Bay area, hands down. read more
