Great place! Went to two popular places and both had 30 and 45 minutes wait. Was headed to Shari's and stumbled on this place. I walked in and was surprised when I was seated right away. It's been renovated from the other place and added some class. Had the classic Benedict and it was great was told that was that was the most popular item today. TLDR; very friendly staff, food exceeds expectations, its clean but dated in appearance, a solid breakfast option. Support locally owned small businesses. Second visit since the new ownership of this location took over. I enjoyed the first visit enough to return. I'll go into some detail if you made it past the TLDR... First off its a restaurant so lets start with the food... I had a smoked brisket omelet (a special item not on the menu). The other visit I had homemade biscuits and gravy, and had a chance to taste my wife's Irish benedict (corned beef and eggs with hollandaise). All were very very good. Highlights include a perfectly turned omelet, clearly fresh made biscuits and a sausage gravy that didn't come from a freezer bag. The menu is fairly simple, breakfast and lunch items are pretty standard cafe type foods but with a few unique touches that tell you they are really thinking about the food and having fun with it. Pricing seems to fit with the content and of course my brisket omelet cost more than the eggs and bacon, but it was fair for what I got. Both trips for myself and one other came out under 35$ with coffee and tips. Atmosphere: in a word... disjointed. There's some classic 50s decor and some local memorabilia, but its clear that they are just getting started with what the previous owner left behind. The place was clean, but dated. I suspect this will improve with time, but right now its not doing much for them. The wait staff is very friendly and personable, there's no TVs (yay!! pet peeve) and the music is quiet and unobtrusive. Lighting is bright enough with tons of natural sunlight. Seating is a mix of booths and tables with some separation with 3 distinct seating areas that seems to help keep noise down even when they are full. Staff: Very friendly people. I met the new owners an energetic young couple with pretty impressive restaurant credentials despite their age. The waitstaff are the friendly type that are willing to take the time to chat and connect which is becoming a bit hard to find these days. I had a full coffee cup until i asked them to stop refilling, and they were attentive with water refills as well. As someone who worked in food service in the past I like to be pretty critical of waitstaff but these folks just got the job done with a smile and pleasant conversation while keeping all the details organized. As an Idahoan I feel strongly about family values and hard work, it warms my heart to see a young couple working hard in a small family owned restaurant and I will be back again to support this kind of locally owned business. read more

It's obvious they all have a great chemistry working with one another...makes for a very nice atmosphere! We were a party of 6 so we were able to sample several items...well done! When we first came in the server was super sweet and nice. After we got our drinks the tea was very acidic and tased peachy. We ordered our food soon after and waited about 40 minutes till it was served to us. She then brought out two wrong orders and took them back, also ordered a salad but received fries instead. I also only had one slice of bacon on each of my half's on my sandwiches. Food wasn't the best for having to wait over 40 minutes. Overall I won't be returning. read more

I hate giving bad reviews, I used to love the 50's Cafe. They had the best Biscuits & Gravy, hadn't been for a while. Saw the name change thought I'd give it a try, Ordered my B.G. Wow! Sorry to say it was the worst I'd ever had. There saying the Chef was trained in France, if so they skipped that class. Maybe other meals are going to be ok. We tried dinner here, which they're now doing on Fridays and Saturdays. The food was amazing and the staff was friendly as well as great at taking care of tables. They offered tapas to share, or full dinner entrees if you wanted your own plates. We ordered their charcuterie board that was a very generous offering of 3 different cheeses, a couple of cured meats, some amazing tangerine olives, and homemade jam. It seems the offerings change occasionally. We also ordered the calamari which was so fresh and perfectly fried. It was light, warm, and tender. They also offered street tacos that were flavorful and juicy. For dessert, we tried the lemon tart, which was more like a cheesecake than what I expected. Overall, it was a wonderful meal. You can tell the cook is a foodie and great at what she does. I can't wait to come back and try breakfast! We'll definitely be here again. read more

I am not in the habit of just giving 5 stars to everything, in fact this is the first review I have taken the time to write out. My wife and I happened upon this nice little restaurant, when our usual breakfast place had a computer crash Saturday night, and we wanted breakfast. We are early risers and they open at 6am.....unheard of, I know. We walked in around 7am, "Liars club" was in full session; several older "fishermen" sharing stories of the one that got away. Travis [hope I got this right] greeted us, and brought hot, good coffee to the table. After a few minutes of drooling over the menu, we made our choices. My wife's usual eggs, breakfast meat, with pancakes; and I always try that stick to your ribs , biscuits and gravy. MMMMMM on both plates. Hot and delicious. I saw a sign about joining them for dinner on Friday and Saturday night, so I asked Travis about that. He brought over the menu, and we discussed the restaurant. They took over a 50's style diner, hence red sparkly booth seats. It is clean and in great shape. The dinner menu was small, but sounded wonderful. I'll start by saying this is my first review ever. I think the Tipsy Chef must have been to hungover to cook when we tried this place. We wanted to try something new so we stopped by for lunch on a Sunday. We were extremely disappointed in the quality of ingredients in the food. I ordered a simple Cheeseburger and it was a obviously pre-processed frozen patty that was undercooked and had a gamey taste with a slice of square cheese product on top. I even had my teenage try it and he spit it out immediately! He will literally eat anything so I know something was wrong. He didn't even finish his breakfast burrito because he said if it was the only thing left in fridge then he would consider eating it. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich and salad that was a greasy frozen chicken breast and bowl of browning lettuce with one tomato. This is obviously a Mom and Pop type restaurant and I hate giving bad news to good people. But after waiting over 30 minutes to get our food we waited another 15 minutes hoping someone would check on us, I had to approach the checkout to let them know about the food issues and that we would like a check so we could leave. I am not happy about spending 40 bucks for a Chicken sandwich, breakfast burrito and a Manmosa because they only offered to take the hamburger off the check. I have never had a meal in France but if this is how they cook I don't care to ever try it. read more

We stopped in for lunch and were so impressed. Their bowls are largest I've ever seen. Homemade Tomato soup was thick and absolutely delicious! Hamburger had the best bun not your run of the mill.
