Bad service jewelry department. They are able to charge for some stuffs and others not. Is Christmas Eve. They should not be different between client. I could not pay for some stuffs. Went to this TJ Maxx on a Friday night after work. It was crowded and the store itself doesn't have a lot of space to move around. I do agree that the home section and the dress section (or rack!) is pretty small. However, ended up buying a Valentino jacket for $250, a yoga mat for $10, cool Betsey Johnson sunglasses for $12 and a baking pan for $12. Not to mention the amazing Ralph Lauren sweaters and Steve Madden shoes I left behind because I spent all my grocery money on the jacket. The employees are very helpful and friendly and was surprised that there was no line in the fitting rooms and the line at the register was super quick! I will come back for this location once my wallet recovers. If you're looking for home stuff, look elsewhere. read more

Very narrow aisles and cramped. If someone has a cart in the aisle, good luck trying to get around them. I visited this store Memorial Day weekend, right when the weather was changing from warm to hot. I went there specifically looking for some jeans. Unfortunately, they did not have a a ladies jeans section. I was very surprised. I asked a sales clerk where it was just in case I overlooked it, but he couldn't find it either. He went and asked a co-worker where we could find ladies jeans and he returned saying they only had ladies capris. I did count about 4 or 5 pair of jeans, but they were on clearance and they looked like it, too. I'm confused about the whole "fashionista/Maxxinista" concept because there were so many cheaply made, poor quality clothes on the racks. Nice purse selection. Cute ladies shoes, except NO seats to sit down and try them on. What's the point? Made me not want to bother trying to stand up and try on the shoes, especially with already tired feet. The bathroom is unisex, filthy, and with trash overflowing. Hope you don't have to go. Even worse, hope you don't have to bring your child, elderly, or disabled relative in there. Zipper on new pair of shorts broke after two wearings, one washing. They were only $13 so I didn't keep the receipt. But I did bring the American Express Statement with me when I tried to return/exchange. The cashier and "management" person were rude and dismissive. "You wore it, we can't take that back." Not even "I'm sorry" just a wave of the hand at me and a big head shake. At least have some courtesy let alone most stores would let a customer exchange the item since it had a defective zipper. For the most part TJ maxx is pretty helpful but lately everytime I go they never have what I need. They have plenty of low cost, coats, shoes etc so they are always good for saving money but all in all I'll probably stop wasting my time looking for anything else here. For some reason stores that have great deals also have poor service, not sure if the low prices command low levels of customer service but hey you cant win every battle. The store is usually crowded and things can be a bit out of order but you'll surely find what your looking for with a little due dillegence. Am I the only one who loves to go out during a blizzard? The city was especially pretty on Thursday night as the snow fell relentlessly and after work, I wanted to browse in places that would still be open. TJ Maxx was close by, and always good for browsing through the cookware section and the athletic clothes section. This is a smaller store than the 6th Avenue one, with a good selection of active wear, but a smaller selection of cookware. Still, it never seems to me to get too crowded, is always fun check in and this store doesn't seem to get as messy and unorganized as the other locations. The check out lines here seem to move slightly more quickly also. Service here is hit and miss though on a Thursday blizzard night, I couldn't blame the employees for being disgruntled and wanting just to go home. read more

One of the worst TJ Maxx's I've seen in the city. Even the one down in the middle of Wall Street was better, for Pete's sake! The top floor is all purses, and it's insanely tight. The second floor has everything else, and it's slightly bigger, but still just as disorganized and just as tight. I walked in, did a circle around the place, and walked out. My luggage broke and I was in desperate need to purchase a new one before checking out of my hotel. I asked the bellhop at the hotel where I was staying and he recommend TJ Maxx. As I was walking towards the store I thought to myself "i am going to pay a lot for suitcase given the location or the retail store. Boy was I wrong. Not only did they have over 100 different styles and sizes available. It was all very affordable. This is a two storied store. The check out line on the top floor can be very crowded so I recommend going to the ground floor. It was a very pleasant experience! read more

PLEASE TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONING ITS BEEN OUT FOR OVER ONE MONTH PLUS This location by far is the WORST in customer service, professionalism and efficiency not to mention the walking disaster areas of the store shelves and floors where most of the merchandise is left on the ground or elsewhere. The staff is so rude, abusive and hostile towards customers, there is not one ounce of professional skill set in anything they do, The Manager's name Andre according to the non-stop PA system announcements calling out his name every 5 minutes because the staff cannot make a decision without him . He allows the employees to chat non stop out LOUD in personal convoluted discussions on the sales floor and at the cash registers, when the long endless lines of customers wait over 25 minutes for a cashier. Don't you dare ask the endless roaming staff to help you find something on the sales floor because when you do they will bite your head off as you are interrupting their mindless petty flow and their endless personal conversations The staff and cashiers can be heard bad mouthing customers behind their backs, talking out loud about their non-existent personal lives and how much they HATE their jobs as opposed to focusing on the sales transaction to avoid overcharges on customers receipts because they are always so distracted talking non stop about nonsense to each other and DELIBERATELY not paying attention to the customer nor the transaction. None of the staff here gets along with each other, observing petty fights in the way they treat each other which is so disgusting to see in a retail business setting. My husband recently noticed the staff as well as the Manager berating out LOUD for all to hear the fact that they had to clean up vomit on the sales floor as a young child was sick, instead of showing compassion, concern and care for the sick child they all took turns talking non-stop out LOUD for all to hear speaking against the sick child for having to clean up the young child's vomit. Shocking and Abusive! None of these TJ MAXX staffers and cashiers would even last a week in another company's retail location but because the managers and supervisors permit this type of unruly and negative behavior towards customers especially against the poor tourists who are treated even worse as they continue their disdain and abuse against any customer, as if they are at home in they're living rooms or still in high school as the floor downstairs is no better the cashiers are rude and non stop talkative out LOUD. Oh and please lets not forget the miserable staff in the changing rooms they are disgruntled employees who HATE customers and hate their jobs, they actually comment out loud behind the customers BACKS as the customers are seen walking away having to listen to their abusive comments Question beckons WHERE IN GOD'S GOOD EARTH DO THEY FIND THESE TYPES OF EMPLOYEES??? surely with soo many New Yorker's who are desperate for jobs WHY would they permit and allow this type of behavior against customers, who honestly are the ones that actually pay these employees salaries! Also at another visit they began berating customers over the PA system out LOUD to STOP shopping the store is CLOSED -and they then repeated "STOP shopping the store is closed", and then they SHUT the lights to prevent the remaining customers from shopping, its crazy and always out of control, so extremely unprofessional as the tourists became afraid that the lights were turned off! Their is one person however that we have noticed over time that consistently works quietly, diligently and professionally, this woman we don't know her name we think she maybe Russian or of Eastern European she has a lovely accent, we always noticed how professional and helpful she is and always efficiently multitasking she sticks out like a sore thumb because she is the ONLY ONE actually working in the store consistently and who is incredibly helpful, so we at least found ONE good thing to say as whoever she is, she should be promoted and commended for the pride she takes in her job and the respect and professionalism she consistently shows to customers including to me and my husband. My husband says she works behind the register towards the elevator but he can't remember her name. The rest of these staffers, cashiers, managers, supervisors etc honestly should NOT be in retail . Oh my goodness! Things are TIGHT up in here. Too much stuff, too much people, ugh. I wouldn't do it again especially because I know what these stores are like in the suburban strip malls where there is no complaints of the escalator that doesn't work or the elevator that is too slow because those do not exist. I really wanted to make the purchase that I did otherwise I would have left. Just as a helpful tidbit for this store: you don't need an employee at the head of the line keeping shoppers company and directing them to the open cashier. Every time I come here I leave pissed off. The store is small, crowded, and badly laid out. Employees are rude to the point where I don't even know how it's allowed. They clearly have never had any sort of customer service or interpersonal training. There's usually only about 4 cashiers open while the rest of the employees amble around talking. Put aside at least a half hour to complete your purchase. This TJ Maxx location is so rough. They should really trim down the beauty section and spread everything else out. It's not a Sephora, and it takes up more space than the housewares. The staff could learn to say excuse me because they will walk up right behind you and shove their way past to hang up something or put back shoes. When they aren't running you over, they are just standing and taking up space. For example, the teenage girl employee who was admiring herself and putting on lipstick in one of the mirrors on the sales floor. WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS STORE? This is my second review of this store and there has been virtually no improvement to this store since my first review. In fact, it's gotten worse. I used to shop here all the time- and I mean on a weekly basis. I can't do that anymore. They keep "redesigning" it. Now when you get off the escalator, you're greeted by a large jewelry counter that takes up much of the store real estate. There are some women's clothes to the right of that- a limited selection. You need to walk all the way to the other side of the store for the rest of the women's clothing. The selection is limited and what's there is very "meh". There was one sweater I was going to try on that I found on a rack- When I found it in another color, I was going to try them both on, but it was hanging on a wall completely out of reach- Try as I might, I couldn't get it down and of course, there was no employee in sight who could help me (they would have had to qualify for the NBA anyway...) In frustration (AGAIN), I left the store without trying anything on and without buying anything. Hey TJ MAXX... GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER! Stop trying to "improve" things and go back to the way it was years ago when it felt like a lucrative treasure hunt and the way that things were displayed made sense (like ALL the ladies clothing in one area... it ain't brain surgery!). I have no reason to ever go into this store again. Who needs the frustration? One good thing I can say is that they're helping me to stay on budget by NOT buying anything. ;-) read more

Came to this location Saturday august 18 at about 7:00pm and the elevator wasn't working so I had to get on the freight elevator with my baby. They took us to the wrong floor which didn't have baby clothes or toys which is what I wanted so I decided to leave the store because it was uncomfortable for me to go to the back and get on the freight elevator with my baby each time I wanted to change floors. While I was waiting for the elevator security decided to massage and touch my 2 year old daughters foot without my consent, my daughter was clearly scared and uncomfortable and I pulled back the stroller so he won't touch her anymore. I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life and no mother should have to experience this. As a grown older men you should NEVER TOUCH LITTLE GIRLS in any type of way without a mothers consent and this is something that should be taught at trainings. As we were leaving he stared at us the whole way in a weird uncomfortable way and even the elevator guy asked him if he was okay and asked me if I was okay. I then went to the front of the store on the street level and asked for a manager because I wanted to tell the manager what I had just experienced but was told the manager was on another floor. I didn't want to wait because I felt ashamed and disgusted and decided to write this review in hope someone will see it and train the staff members so that customers won't have to experience uncomfortable situations like this especially when im talking about my 2 year old daughter. read more

For cheap people who don't want cheap clothes! TJ Maxx falls into the same category of discounter clothing stores that Filene's Basement and Marshalls, occupy- they receive left-over clothes (when manufacturers overproduce or stores overbuy) from more expensive department stores like Bloomingdale's and Macy's, passing the savings on to you (about 60% discounted). All of the clothes are name-brand or designer, so for a low price, you're getting expensive clothes. That matters, because, unlike many clothes made at those cheapo stores, the fabric is higher quality, and is less likely to fade and pill, and wind up being "wear once and throw away" fashion. They have a huge selection of trendy, high-quality leather purses and shoes, and great home accents, such as aromatic and artisan candles and pillows as well. They have a large lingerie section, and also tend to carry a lot of Spanx-like body-shapers, and under-garments. Clothes tend to be organized by color, which is helpful. TJ Maxx has thousands of new items delivered every week (department stores tend to only buy seasonally), so you never know what you're going to find when you go there. Had to stop in this morning to buy a dress shirt. The one I was wearing had some unseen stains on it that I missed this morning when getting dressed. Got a great Geoffrey Beane shirt for under $20. Great value, nice shirt. Had to go into the dressing room and wear it out of the store, and everything was clean and all the employees were very helpful. Meh - this TJ Maxx isn't the best due to its relatively small size and the fact that it's in a highly touristy area. Since it's around the corner from my office, I tend to stop here on my lunch breaks to browse. It's spread across one and a half floors, with the bottom floor completely dedicated to handbags. The upstairs has a decent assortment of women's apparel, but doesn't have a terrific for a selection of homegoods and accessories. Though you can find some decent things, I would highly recommend making the trip over to the TJ Maxx in Chelsea - they have WAY more products. read more

I Can't believe I am giving the TJ maxx a 1 star. TJ Maxx on line shopping has been an awful experience. I placed two separate orders the first order had 3 dresses the order total was 99.00. The second order the was also a dress $ 149.00. I received the two boxes however the the first box was missing a dress $ 39.99. Service dep. said we need to credit your account. for dress. then recharge you.... fine. NEVER RECEIVED CREDIT!!!! Called 4 times. Now an investigation has to be done before I can receive credit. In the mean time I went to TJMaxx store before any of this happen to return the other dresses.( one was damaged$149.00) Tjmaxx informs me that since I paid with PAYPAL i can only receive a store credit. I told them I paid with cash using my debit card....Sorry store policy. I called TJmaxx customer service 3 times waited days for an answer... no one would call me back. Unfortunately ordered the $ 149.00 dress a 2nd time and the missing dress( THAT I DID NOT GET CREDIT FOR) and I PAID FOR again!!!.. did not work out. Now all this money taken out of my account! Now Today MY ACCOUNT WAS CHARGED AGAIN!!! for the $149.00 dress. TJ maxx is not available on Saturday. My bank account is short so much money right now. It is all due to the fault of this company! I feel with any discount store, including this one, it is very hit or miss. Do not go in here if you expect to grab something quick and fast. If you have the patience to sort through piles of crap, you can definitely find your gem. I think their housewares section is fabulous and I even scored big on a $150 nice raincoat for $30! I went here on a Friday around 11am. It was such a great escape from the other stores in the city that were crowded. I love TJ Maxx. This one definitely didn't disappoint. They have a great handbag and shoe selection. If your going for bath and bedding stuff, I would go somewhere else. There really wasn't much at all. This is a decent store, I usually stop by after work to see what's new and buy random things. Many times, the store is often unorganized and the lines are long BUT you never know what you'll find in here, so it's worth it sometimes. There are a lot of designer/high end brands sold here. There's also a ton of beauty and skin care products at really affordable prices. You may also find gourmet snacks too! I like the one in Rego Park better, but this one is close to my job. I also noticed that they tend to have more higher end items, in comparison to other TJ Maxx stores. If you're in the area, you should stop by. read more
