Super fast service! You get alot of meat and food for the price. There's not any smoke coming out of the grill either so you don't leave smelling like meat. The only downside is that if you go on the weekends the parking is BADDD. We looped around for 15+ minutes and there was no parking we took a risk and just parked in a "tow" zone lol. From the moment we sat down, the staff rushed us and basically forced us into the 4-person dining set, even though we clearly said we wanted to order à la carte. They wouldn't even let us do the 3-person dinner plus a few dishes because one person in our group doesn't even eat much meat. What kind of restaurant refuses to let customers order what they want? The food itself was just as bad as the service. Some of the meat couldn't even be cooked on the grill at the table--it had to be taken back to the kitchen--and when the BBQ beef bulgogi finally came out, it was bone-dry and completely overcooked. The service was beyond rude. They asked if we wanted a refill on side dishes, and when we said yes, the server told us to "finish what we had first." There was barely a bite left! Why even bother offering a refill if you're going to scold customers for accepting it? Before we were even halfway through our meal, they slammed the bill on our table. Then the biggest insult: they forced an 18% tip even though there was no mention of this anywhere on the menu. We had decided on 15% (which was generous considering how awful everything was), but instead we were strong-armed into paying more for service that was pushy, dismissive, and flat-out terrible. This place is all about rushing people in and out, upselling, and squeezing extra money out of customers, not about food or hospitality. Absolute waste of time and money. Never again. read more

WOW WOW WOW, SO YUMMY AND AMAZING! I can't believe I missed this gem for so long. I have heard about ToBang for years and have been to that plaza multiple times but never got to try it until recently and boy was it delicious and dare I say, maybe my favorite K-bbq spot in the Bay Area. My partner and I came here on a Friday night around 8:00 P.M. and it was packed! We didn't know what to expect, I typically go through Yelp to check on the menu and look through photos (since I am one of those people who eats with their eyes first), but we decided to just go in with no expectations. When we got in we were greeted by the staff at least 2 minutes in and the waitress was so friendly and broke the set menus down for us. For 2 people, she recommended either set A or B and we opted for B (three meats) because we were super hungry. We choose the Kalbi, pork belly, and brisket with an add-on of bean soup. She let us know it was a great choice and those were the most popular. She then took our order before seating us and let us know it would take around 10 minutes for our table to be ready. When those ten minutes were up I didn't know that our table would be ready READY. We walked up to an already-made table with all of our meats, side dishes, soups, and kimchi fried rice. I was mindblown at the service!!! Throughout the whole time, the service here was spectacular! They noticed our kimchi fried rice wasn't as sizzling hot before we did and offered to reheat it in the back so we could have a better experience with it. It was so kind! Not only this, but the food here was sooooo good, especially the kalbi. They were some big deliciously cut pieces of umami and I definitely will come back here just for the kalbi itself. But as I said, everything went beyond my expectations, the banchan was amazing (those potatoes are chef's kiss), the seafood pancake, the meats, the sauces, everything! In total for 2 people, we paid around $110 for set B. To caution you, there was so much food, you will not leave hungry. After we paid, our waitress chased us down to give us some free Yakult for a little k-bbq aftercare. We love a restaurant that cares about gut health. Great place for K-BBQ with friends & family. Make a reservation online and check out the wall with menu meal selections or the paper menu because you have to order your meal before you get seated so that the staff can start food prepping for you. The staff can tell you the right amount of food for each meal set. We chose two sets of meals for the 7 of us in our group which was lots of food. Some of the meats such as the kalbi (beef short ribs) are prepared and cooked by the kitchen while other meats are served raw for grilling at your table (the bulgogi, beef belly, etc. ) Lots of side dishes that are unlimited. Staff comes around with refills on any of the side dishes (kimchee, veggies, water, etc. ) They are so nice here and gave us some additional freebie side dishes and a soda and a juice. Very noisy and busy place and very reasonable prices. Friendly service. Be prepared to talk louder to hear each other talk. I've been here three times and had no problems with the food on each occasion. This review is for the service and unprofessionalism amongst the servers. First time coming, my sister was forced by the staff to tip. Instead of MY SISTER pressing which tip option to choose from, the FRONT DESK PERSON chose for her without any permission. My sister has aphasia and is unable to express her needs and they took advantage of that. Second time coming, the staff pressured us to buy more food than what was needed without giving a proper explanation as to why. The server, Tini, was very demanding and insisted we buy two C packages for a group of 6 people. We wanted two B packages and explained to her that we weren't going to eat a lot. They disregarded what we wanted and ordered two C packages. Last time around today, our server came up to me after paying telling me it is required to at least pay 10% tip. Mind you, i had already paid tip, she wanted MORE. I told her to show me where it says that is a requirement on the menu. She walked away and didn't come back to me. As I was finally leaving with my family, the lady at the front desk asked me to give a cash tip. I walked away because of the audacity to ask for more. Side note: On the bottom of their menu, it states "PARTY OF FIVE OR MORE, RECOMMENDED 18% TIP". No where does it say that 10% minimum is required. I have very mixed feelings about my experience here. I really wanted to like it BUT I was a bit off put, especially toward the end. Let's start off with the positives: - lots of Banchan! Kimchi & japchae were great! - pretty good quantity of food Now let's get into the nitty gritty stuff. I wasn't a fan of the overall service. The servers were nice enough but they were basically rushing us the entire time. Before we were even done, they were already bringing us to-go boxes. Our meat was cooked so quickly, I don't even remember everything we ordered lol! And then at the end, the servers were constantly walking back and forth near our table to take a peek to see if we would be wrapping up soon. Someone, I'm assuming the manager, ended up approaching our table and told us that we had to leave because we only had an hour limit to eat.... I feel like this place is a 3.5... I have very mixed feelings about this place since the food came out fast and everything was very efficient but ultimately rated this as a 3 since I could not justify a 4. While there, the hostress immediately told to order up front and even told us what to order. We felt rushed even though there was no one behind us. There are specials but they basically tell you what to order based on the number of people in your party and they tell you how much to tip if you have a group of 5 or more. It was not someplace where we felt like we have agency to choose what to eat. The good: Once seated, banchan is all set. Everything comes out immediately. The server comes out with the food and cuts the meat for us. That part is fantastic. They would refill the banchan. They will constantly walk over to check in on us and even put food onto our plate. The food was tasty and I do love their seafood pancake. The Bad: We have food that is still cooking and food that had yet to arrive. Then they came over to deliver our check and bring out the probiotic drinks... Another server saw this and stopped her from giving us our check but it was definitely a faux pas in my mind. Looking back- itwas a bit funny to us how fast we were trying to eat... We couldn't really enjoy eating and holding any sort of meaningful conversations. Over the years, the service at this restaurant has become noticeably questionable. I honestly hesitated to write this review, but maybe it'll be helpful to others. Our family of eight has dined here frequently in the past, usually ordering four to five portions of meat. On this visit, however, the hostess insisted we order two specific combos, which totaled six portions of meat. After a prolonged exchange, the owner explained that they require larger parties to order a minimum amount of food, as they "lose money". This was news to me but apparently they've had this rule since the pandemic but I guess they ever enforced it. Regardless they aren't an all-you-can-eat establishment and if the concern is related to covering costs due to low foot traffic or staffing, it seems unfair to shift that responsibility onto customers who are simply trying to enjoy their meal within their own consumption limits. That already soured our experience and then our server kept squeezing between us to cook the meat, despite us telling her we could cook it ourselves and the obviously limited space she was trying to occupy. At one point, she even remarked that we should have ordered less raw meat because it was taking too long to cook ... she was otherwise kind and attentive, checking on us frequently and proactively replenishing our side dishes. On a positive note, they didn't rush us this time as the restaurant wasn't busy. ToBang is always consistent. We used to come often whenever in the area, but it's been awhile post-pandemic. I didn't think this place was as busy as it used to be because I was able to make and change a last-minute reservation on Yelp with no issues. Upon arrival for our 8 p.m. ressie, I saw that ToBang is still as popular as before. There were several parties waiting to be seated. We checked in and ordered (at ToBang, you order before getting seated). The meat and banchan are set-up and ready to go at your table when you're seated. We waited about five minutes and got seated. Service was quick and attentive. Our water jugs and banchan were refilled without us having to ask even though the restaurant was really packed. Five of us opted for the special C combo which includes your choice of four meats (extra $8 if selecting marinated kalbi), four rice, lettuce, rice paper, banchan, radish wrap and a seafood pancake. You may also add a tofu soup for $8. The marinated meats are cooked in the kitchen and brought out to you. The uncooked meats are cooked at the table. Even though we're supposed to cook the meats ourselves, the servers helped us flip the meat a few times. We ended up ordering two additional meats and were so full after. The brisket, pork belly, beef belly and kalbi are all excellent! ToBang is an awesome place for dinner but not so much for a date night as it is loud and bustling so makes it difficult to hold a regular conversation. From the start, we were asked to pick the combo meals based on total number of the party at the entrance, it took some negotiations to finally settle on a four and a two person combos plus a couple orders of seafood tofu soups. They were pushing for the larger combos. Our table was ready with the banchan and bottles of water before we were seated, waitresses were running around bringing the cooked meats, cooking in batches on the grill the big pile of sliced of raw beef, later the seafood pancakes, tofu soups and etc. The banchans were good with many varieties (8+) , the Galbi and seafood pancakes were smaller in portion but OK since we had multiple orders; the tofu soup was flavorful from the mussels but no egg which was a little disappointing for me. We all ate a lot and still took home a good amount of leftovers. Kids liked the yogurt drinks at the end. Overall it's reasonably priced for the amount of food received although quality of the food was just OK. The dining experience is a bit too hectic / rushed than I would liked. My family and I went to ToBang for a late Father's Day meal, and we were extremely disappointed in how we were treated. We had a reservation for eight people, but only 7 showed up including a toddler). When we arrived and asked about our reservation, the staff sharply told us to wait without any acknowledgment or courtesy. It set the tone for what would be an underwhelming experience. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. There were plenty of open tables, which was surprising since this place used to have lines out the door. Even so, the staff seemed rushed and inattentive. We asked for Set C but were told it was only for four people. They insisted we combine Set A and C or A and B. It felt unnecessarily rigid, but we went along with it. When our meat was grilling and started to overcook, I politely asked for an extra plate to move it off the grill. They told us to use the same greasy plate that had our seafood pancake on it. Really? You can't spare a clean plate? No one offered to refill our banchan, of course. And at the end of the meal, instead of preparing the kimchi fried rice tableside with the leftover meat like they used to, they just brought out a small premade plate. When I went to pay, the cashier asked what tip I wanted to leave. 16 or 18 percent. I said I wanted to do a custom tip, and they reminded me that the minimum was 16 or 18 percent, which created an uncomfortable situation for no reason. My group had fully intended to tip over 18 percent, but we just wanted to enter a flat number so it'd be easier to split among ourselves. That interaction honestly made me not want to tip at all. As for the food, it's just okay. Nothing to write home about. With all the Korean barbecue options out there, there's really no reason to choose this one in particular. Very mid. We really loved the quality of meat and variety of side dishes, sauces, and banchan, and the seafood pancake was delicious. Came here for a late lunch/early dinner on Saturday. It was quite empty with only a few patrons. The restaurant is located in a plaza next to 7eleven. There is parking in the plaza. There is a good amount of tables inside and it was not too loud like other Kbbq places. The service was great! The staff were very attentive and made sure we got everything. It was my first time here at ToBang and it did not disappoint. It's not a fancy Korean barbecue like the new one nowadays with LED lights, robots moving everywhere, loud music, etc. you can expect a standard traditional kbbq that has an almost homelike feel. The staff here is very friendly and attentive As for the food, we ordered Section B, which comes with 3 meats, and it's more than enough for 3 people. For our meats, we did pork belly, brisket and galbi (+$8). The galbi was so flavorful, I think it's worth the extra charge. Pork belly comes thinly sliced which I don't mind. I think where this place really shines is the banchan. The pickled radish is top tier, it taste home pickled, and one of the best I've had. Add it to any of the meats wrapped in a rice paper and it's the perfect bite. The kimchi tasted fresh, which I didn't mind. for some reason, it didn't taste extremely fermented. I actually enjoyed the kimchi because the flavor didn't overwhelm the sauces and other additional sides that you can add on. Eomuk (fish cake side dish) is always one of my faves. Japchae is also included in the side dishes. The seafood pancake and corn cheese was a nice add on too. Overall, I definitely think you are getting your moneys worth eating here. It isn't ACYE, but I believe they've done right by their menu and you can still definitely get a full meal from the sections. Tobang is NOT all-you-can-eat and it's done through ordering different level of protein sets A,B, C and D. I will say this place is packed and very rushed. When we were told we could be seated we were told to pick our food before even seated. We were recommended Special C since we had four people. We ordered brisket, pork belly, bulgogi, and kalbi. You get a seafood pancake with your meal and it's supposed to be 6-7 pieces. It was literally four pieces and it was a bit sad when it came to the taste and texture. They give you corn cheese and it's like a little scoop of it. When we got to the table it was already set up with the bonchon and the meats came out very shortly. It was a surprise that the bulgogi and kalbi came already cooked for us. We were starving so we dug right in. To our surprise, this is not an AYCE. We didn't know this and when we were done with our meats we tried to order our next round and told the harsh truth. Overall, the food was good! I however didn't like feeling like we weee being rushed. The waitress even came up at one point and aggressively cooked our meat by moving it all together when we placed it all out separately. Also, the waitress accidentally placed the bill on my hand and didn't say a word. Tbh, I think the Special C is more suited for two people. Four meats one around is definitely not enough for four people, especially if the group is hungry. This place used to be such a draw, packed waiting area, people enjoying themselves at a rock solid KBBQ joint. But, the owners (maybe new ownership?) decided to sell out and try to rush everyone through their meals. First off, they force you to place your order at the front before you even get to sit down, and when you ask them if you can add on later, they say it will be marked up over 100% if you order later. Then, after only sitting and eating for about 30 minutes, they put to-go containers and the check on your table. I see other reviews raving about how ordering ahead helps to streamline the process, but make no mistake about it - it is all intended to rush you out so they can rotate more guests quickly. Think about the last time you were rushed to eat - did you enjoy your meal? The problem is there are so many KBBQ places in the area now. Reviewing after my second visit- both have been on weekends. The place always has people there, and I appreciate how attentive the staff are! As far as ambiance goes, it feels very much like a busy family gem restaurant. The place doesn't look as "all the thrills", but it makes up for that in the portions of meats that you do get and all the great banchan you get! I never leave hungry and the owner, Kim, is absolutely lovely and very friendly. Could not recommend enough to the folks that just want a chill, Korean BBQ experience! The yakult at the end of the meal is also a great additional customer service touch. (It also helps that you can leave with some of your leftovers, that's quite the bonus!!)
