They do not have food ready in time that is specified and then when I got home FINALLY with my food after waiting 30 minutes over the time they said, there was a piece of plastic in it. I threw out my roll entirely. The hostess treated me like I was crazy for asking when my food would be ready since it was 30 min OVER the time they told me and I didn't even eat it! Avoid at all costs. There are plenty other hibachi and sushi places in BR. Go to one of those. read more

Delicious and always consistent. I get a couple of regular rolls (tuna and avocado) and the crazy dog roll. They are amazing. I also love the chicken katsu (meal for 2, basically) and the gyoza. The Hibachi chef - Yum-Yum (no BS) - was awesome and kept us thoroughly entertained. This guy is an absolute magician. The hibachi steak was great and my ol' lady enjoyed her skrimp. The waiter - Daniel-son - made sure this old man felt special on his b-day while keeping us entertained and properly lubricated (I'm a sucker for hot sake). Holy. Sushi. The rolls are HUGE and packed with flavor! We love trying new kinds of sushi, so we branched out for every roll today and each one was spectacular! Our waitress was phenomenal as well. Our table was never cluttered, she refilled our drinks before we needed to ask, and she was so genuinely nice that it made for a wonderful experience. I was really craving some Tonkatsu but was a little bummed to only see Chicken Katsu on the menu. It arrived in large chunks (no knife to cut into further pieces), the breading was falling off and the cutlet was much thicker than I am used to. The sauce was great though. I was a bit apprehensive about eating at this place looking at it from the outside but when I went in, I was pleasantly surprised! It's much nicer on the inside, the staff were very friendly and the food was awesome. You definitely need to be hungry when you visit because you will have tons of food to eat if you order hibachi. My favorite Japanese place in Baton Rouge! I always beg my family to take me here for my birthday because their hibachi dinner is the best! You can get filet mignon, which is melt in your mouth delicious, and you get to smell it as it's cooking right in front of you! The hibachi chefs are always super entertaining, even though I see them every year and know their routine backwards and forwards! The game they play with shrimp or bits of rice is always a lot of fun, even if you can't catch it! I'm not a sushi eater, nor is any of my family, but I've always heard good things about the sushi from my friends, so give it a shot if you're a sushi lover! read more

The sushi was great! The chicken was great! The service was great! I've worked in food service so I am very picky about my restaurants. When we walked in it looked really busy but we were seated quickly despite that. It didn't take long for someone to greet us and take our drink order. We got our food pretty quickly and we really enjoyed it. Their California rolls were awesome. The server I had was extremely friendly and talkative she made me feel comfortable. This is probably my 3rd or 4th time coming here now and the only problem I have is that their plates and utensils are dirty...I've been noticing it the 2nd time I came but maybe they mistakenly left the plates like that (it would be a grain of rice or two or some sticky water mark stains). I'd simple ask for a new plate/utensil and the waiter/waitress is nice enough to retrieve one for me. But once I gave them another shot, I still noticed the dirty plates and I'd swap out the plate with the one besides me, but its even dirtier! & these plates were already placed on the hibachi bar and ready to serve on, but it was too gross! I asked for another plate, but for now own I don't think I'll be dining in, I'll be ok with take out. read more

Visiting a friend in Baton Rouge and man, do I wish I could bring this place back to Charlotte with me. We didn't sit down for hibachi -- both of us were hungry and not really in for the show part of the meal. We started with shumai and I ordered two sushi rolls (Baton Rouge and Philadelphia), and it was awesome. Philly's my go-to in general (so long as it's avacado, not cucumber), and I'd be willing to add the BR to my usual order if I thought I could get it. ;) Our waiter was super attentive, and the food was perfect. She got the soba, and said she really enjoyed it. And everything started off with a bowl of miso -- yum. Definitely a five star restaurant! We order a orange roll it appearance was very delightful, and it taste fresh and tasty. We also had the hibachi grill it was great. Food that comes with a show, my family and I were laughing throughout the whole meal definitely have the fried rice with the hibachi it so delicious. Our chef was very entertaining. This place was close to my house but I have never been before. I stopped by with a friend on Sunday night because it was one of the only places open in the area and I was pleasantly surprised. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside and has standard seating, the sushi bar, as well as hibachi. We ordered an appetizer which was a beef dish that I can't pronounce but was delicious. We also got two specialty rolls: rose roll and Baton Rouge roll. The rolls were bigger than average and very filling. The rose roll had fish wrapped around the seaweed which I haven't seen before and was a nice touch. I thought the quality of the fish was better than average. Prices were average with the specialty rolls in the $10 to $15 range. Service was very good. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

New to the area, decided to try this place based on reviews and the location. Very friendly staff, they greet you when you walk in and seat/serve you immediately. I sat at a table instead of the hibachi table. I kept my order simple since I was kinda hungry: shrimp teriyaki and a tuna roll. I initially asked for shrimp hibachi but was told you can't order a hibachi plate at a regular table. First time I'd heard of that, but ok. The fried rice was just regular long grain rice, not the "sticky" Japanese style rice. The shrimp teriyaki wasn't bad, but was very skimp on veggies. The place was clean and the waitress was friendly. She brought a warm cloth before I ate for wiping my hands before eating, which was very thoughtful. The food was just alright, but I'd come back again and explore the sushi menu more. They had a pretty good sushi variety on the menu, I was just a little too hungry to be daring. read more

I met my mom for lunch at Tokyo Café. It's a casual dining restaurant in a strip mall. We were limited on time so we didn't get to relax as long as we normally would. To their credit the service was quick. We ordered salmon sashimi, rainbow roll and miso soup. The sashimi was good and reasonably priced (compared what I pay for good quality fish in Dallas). The rainbow roll was standard and the freshness of the fish was okay. The miso soup was good. Overall the experience was better than I expected it to be and worth a visit. read more

We sent them back and they came back with bits of pieces on BOTH straws. Our food was cooked and the cook forgot my sons steak so everyone had their meal but him. Service: AWESOME Sushi: AMAZING. (We got the Rock and Roll) Hibachi guy: funny and entertaining! Tips from the hibachi grill: we got the scallops and they were cooked just right. Needed more flavor compared to all of the other meats we had. If you get the scallops, I would ask him to add some spice(if you can handle spicy). Shrimp: cooked a little well done but the flavor was FANTASTIC. Chicken was very nicely prepared! Get the fried rice! It's yummy! Noodles had a great flavor as well! The salad was great but ask for the dressing on the side if you prefer to monitor- they're very generous with dressing. The soup was better than I've had bc they put fried onion and noodles in their miso. It's a nice personal touch. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the seafood, all-in-all, was slightly over cooked. (Better OVER cooked than UNDER, though!) I don't live in Baton Rouge but I'll probably be back for my next hibachi craving. read more
