My friends each got their choices of three rolls and they were completely happy with that. I had a craving for tempura so i decided to give this place a shot. Went for lunch (the place is empty which should've been my first sign). The menu was colorful & hopeful that this would be authentic Japanese food. The options for a tempura bento were chicken or shrimp. So I asked the waitress if they had All vegetable (I'm allergic to shrimp & I've never heard of chicken tempura). They obliged. The daily special changes so ask what's in it first because as you can see my bento came with shrimp. The waitress was coy in her answer when I asked about the shrimp on my plate. She said "that's why it's called a daily special." Ok fine, I ate the vegetables & packed up my leftovers for a friend. I also ordered gyoza pan fried. Well that came out steamed & rolled in oil. The good parts of my lunch-- my soda drink was xl. Miso soup was 2/4, I didn't think it was hot enough. With that said, I should've gone to the sushi place on the other side of the highway. I note this in the event you're seeking a pleasant environment. As far as I'm concerned, it's a decent place to eat - average good. The food here was good, nothing bad regarding that - they pass the test. The Hibachi Chef - ok. The customer service was very pleasant, with only one concern. Which, makes the totality of the experience "average and needs improvement." We had ordered an item, but it wasn't provided during the meal. So, we made due with the other items. We didn't pay for error, but the manner with which this was handled could've been a little more sharp. As for the aesthetics of the interior, it could use some cleaning up, stowing of supplies, etc. I wasn't certain what vibe they were going for here - casual, family, dinner date, romantic spot, fun. I like to browse around on Yelp for new locations close to work and church for big groups to be able to go to for lunch, and Tokyo Harbor popped up a couple weeks ago in the "Hot and New Businesses" section. I'm always looking for new Japanese and hibachi options, so a friend of mine and I came first for lunch on a weekday. I was blown away by the service, the amount of variety on the menu, the portion sizes even at lunch prices. I've already been twice (the second time on the weekend for lunch with a larger group of twenty or so, at my recommendation) and would absolutely go again in the future. The first lunch, my friend and I ordered the lunch filet mignon hibachi and the lunch salmon hibachi, and we also got a butterfly kiss roll because we weren't sure if just the lunch hibachi would be enough food. Boy were we wrong! The lunch filet mignon ended up being so much that I packed half of the veggies and fried rice to go so I could eat it for lunch the next day. The filet mignon itself was tender and juicy, cooked medium rare, and I also really enjoyed how moist and flaky the salmon I tried was. The butterfly kiss was also delicious! The side salad for the hibachi is pretty standard but I was super impressed by the soup; it isn't your typical miso soup, but is rather a fried onion soup that is both light and extremely flavorful. I loved it a lot! They don't offer the lunch portions on the weekend, so the second time we came for hibachi we all sat around the hibachi table and ordered dinner portions. Those ended up being about twice the amount of the lunch portions, which were already huge. This makes sense because the price point for the dinner portion is about twice as much, so be prepared to have leftovers! I tried the filet mignon and lobster combo and loved it. The hibachi chefs were also awesome and great conversationalists; there were a lot of interactive moments, especially with fire, which really entertained the kids in our party. I found this place on Yelp and it had good review, so I decided to try tonight with my husband. It's located at old Baker Brothers(sandwich shop)used to be. They have the Hibachi(Teppanyaki)section and Sushi section and I was jonesing for Teppanyaki for some reason. I ordered Shrimp & Scallop combo Hibachi dinner which come with onion soup(delicious, I liked it), salad(iceberg lettuce with Japanese ginger dressing, good). You have a choice of steam rice or fried rice(extra, but really good! I highly recommend it! The food portion was very generous. The chef will cook it in front of you!), and vegetables(so delicious!!). The chef was very friendly, personable, talkative and fun! I'm so glad I came here. The only thing was that we ordered Volcano and Rainbow rolls, but they forgot to make them, but it all worked out, because it was a lot of food(I will post pictures)and we had no room in our stomach for the sushi rolls anyway! overall I really like this place. my one complaint is if you're going for hibachi they want you to have a reservation. we were able to be sat but had to wait 30 minutes. the hibachi was delicious and I was surprised when they gave me hibachi noodles, never had that before and IT WAS AWESOME!!! if you're just going for sushi or some other meal just go to the dining room and enjoy. Hubby's ramen was terrible with hot dogs and instant ramen noodles. Hot tea, which is lukewarm, was given on cup at a time, as opposed to a pot. The server had no clue about the menu, as she had to walk away from our table to find answers to our questions. The server never returned to check on us after bringing our meals. So I love this place, the food is great and the people are great, what's not so great is recently they started shrinking their positions on the hibachi side. The chicken and steak portions are tiny and they added more pasta. Please don't do this! Either raise the price a $1-2 on the combo or something else. The fact that this was done without the option to get a standard steak or piece of chicken is pretty lame. Yes we can tell the chicken portion is smaller, yes we can tell the steak has been sliced thinner. Please bring back the old portion size on the main entree. And cutting the meat right away before it cooks and shrinks is not right. Be honest with your patrons. Otherwise I might have to start looking elsewhere too. I'll give it one more try. read more

Craving sushi at 3pm so wanted some place close to home and open. So Royal Harbor it was we sat on sushi side and tried a few appetizers and a tuna tower. I was pleasantly surprised by the avocado salad it was like a Japanese guacamole- smashed avocado, crabmeat, water chestnuts and pineapple. I know who would have thought but it was delicious. We wanted it severed with some type a chip but I guess eat with chopsticks we did use the ends of our wontons to scoop up the creamy delicious green salad. Crab Rangoon had too much chip not enough creamy middle but we did put the chips to good use. Crispy pepper squid was lightly battered and covered in black pepper this was delicious and all of these appetizers were under $8.00 a bargain when eating out today. The hibachi dinner was the best I've had! The chef did a fantastic job cooking the meat, vegetables, rice, and noodles. The spicy sauce he offers after plating each layer of food has the perfect kick. They also have halal options for chicken and filet mignon, and sanitize the table in front of you. It's $2 extra for the halal option but totally worth it. My group also had the shrimp, lobster, sea bass, and salmon, which were all scrumptious, as well. The cleanliness of this restaurant leaves something to be desired, and it is extremely loud. I believe they are going for this atmosphere, so they nailed it I guess. However, there were egg shells in the fried rice, the sushi had a distinct chlorine taste, and noticing how filthy everything was, we will not be back. My hubby and I ate in the ala carte section for a quiet Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We got the salmon teriyaki and Rock shrimp bento box with fried rice and it was really delicious. It was a nice touch how the salmon was on a small bed of broccoli, mushroom and onions. When I said the steak was over cooked and fatty and tough he said 'I just want to make sure you like it.' Over and over. No children were at our table but we got the formula train show.... No stars. Noticed Tokyo Harbor leaving the gym. Was starving after workout so me and my husband popped in to try it out. My husband took me to the door so I could be seated. I have severe dry eye and have difficulty seeing. The hostess wouldn't seat me because my husband was getting my purse. He returned and we waited 20 minutes and was never seated. The hostess never came back. We left and went to tried and true SEYAKA off Coit. Toby cooks the best steak and shrimp. BEST HYBACHI IN PLANO PERIOD!The hostesses here are the best. This is our first time to Tokyo Harbor. We definitely will be back! We had a party of 9. Tokyo has been around for about 1 1/2 years but was hidden behind the construction along there. Here is the breakdown of our experience: Food Filet Mignon-soft, tender and delicious. Salmon-crispy on the outside and soft and tender in the inside. Shrimp-has a creamy side to it that I have never tasted, and was sooo good! Calamari-crispy flaky delicious with just enough batter. Fried Rice-the best tasting fried rice I have ever tasted at a Hibachi Grill! Just perfect tasting, not salty like some other places. Lobster-perfectly cooked and flavored! Service Chef Ken was great. Great attitude and made it fun for the kids. Oh, and he can cook!! Waitress-Cici was accommodating. She was new and did a great job keeping our drinks filled and answering any questions. She was also great with the kids. We definitely would vote Tokyo Harbor over the other local grills.
