Baked Lobster Roll + Shrimp Lover + Crunch Dragon. This was THEE BEST crunch my mouth has ever tasted!
    Jocelyn J.

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. I have been a repeated customer since my last review. I was craving Tori Tori sushi today and when i walked in , it just looked ...weird. I couldn't order my food to-go, i had to use door dash or Uber Eats only . Huh?! Then the prices. I almost passed out. What used to be $8 for my favorite roll has now doubled . This BOGO deal is $40. I hate the door dash menu . I can't believe you guys changed! WHY!! i just turned around and left. I'm so upset! What a waste of time, cravings and gas!! Good luck with these prices.

Anytime we stay near Disney, I always try to go outside of the resort areas to eat. Found this small place and was pleasantly surprised. It's not very far from Disney, but far enough from the crowds. First, the service was great. They were very nice and attentive. It was pretty slow, but it was Sunday on a holiday weekend. We ordered several sushi rolls and a pork katsu. The flavors were all delicious. The spicy scallops hand roll was great and they didn't hide it under krab or any other fillers. It was a little spicier than I expected and it was delicious. What I most appreciated was I was able to order more rolls for variety because an order was 4 pieces. The price reflected the amount and so you really could try different rolls and not pay $15-20 for each. The restaurant was cozy and tastefully decorated. They still have a sushi bar, which I always love as an option. We will definitely keep this place on the list when we are in the area.

I'm so glad I found this place!! I'm usually a creature of habit... so I don't usually venture out from the normal spots unless I find a place worth trying. I've seen this place many times, but always passed it by as I know my spots that I enjoy in this price range. However, I decided to finally give this place a try and I'm so glad I did! I got the Tori Special (which, for some odd reason can't be ordered online) but I called to place the order. I got the salmon train for my four piece roll when I brought it home and took my first bite, it wasn't an amazing experience. The fish was nice and tender with great flavors and the rice was seasoned perfectly. Everything tasted amazing and I felt full, but not stuffed. Don't forget to sign up online to get points for your orders. I'm sure I'll be back soon!

    Sushi rolls were meh

The service here was good...the servers were friendly and attentive. However, unfortunately the sushi itself was pretty meh. I came on a weekday evening with some friends, and we all felt the same way. We ordered and shared several different 4-piece rolls, and for the price ($8-9 per half roll, which comes out to about $16-18 per full roll), the quality just wasn't there. The rolls tasted similar to what you'd get at a mediocre AYCE sushi spot: basic fillings, basic sauces, and fish that was just okay. Nothing tasted particularly fresh or distinctive, and most of the rolls ended up tasting the same. The sauces and overall flavor were pretty bland, so nothing really stood out. For the price point, we were expecting more than average in terms of flavor or quality, but it didn't deliver. Although I appreciate the good service, the food just didn't feel worth it. Overall, I wouldn't go back.

I was pretty excited when I saw how affordable their rolls were - most of them are under $10, which is almost unheard of these days. But I quickly realized why: each order comes with just 4 pieces. Still, the rolls themselves were solid. My favorite was the Tori Chips. The house-made chips paired with sashimi ceviche (including my favorite, salmon) and little bits of mango made for a fun and tasty bite. I did not like the Spicy Crispy Rice Salmon. The rice wasn't crispy. The toppings were good but I think there was just too much sauce making the whole thing soft. The restaurant is small and cozy, and the service was friendly. Plenty of parking in the area too, which is always a plus. Overall, a nice little spot to grab some sushi without breaking the bank. Perfect for a quick lunch eat without overstuffing yourself.

Sushi quality was fresh and tasty. Beautifully decorated store with limited seating. The service was slow but we were told there would be extra wait time for the salmon kama. A bit on the pricey side but worth it for a quick treat-yourself lunch!

The customer service is fast yet very professional. It's very clean inside. They have TV's and were playing the NFL game! The sushi rolls were absolutely delicious and very affordable. I fell in love with the salmon and mango roll, the salmon delight. It was so fresh and sweet. I will definitely be back!

Came here the other night with my sister and i was super excited to try it because i have always seen it and it always seems to be so busy!! I enjoyed the edamame and the Gyozas... the ramen itself was very odd tasting, just not spicy and overall a weird taste, it almost tasted very starchy? idk very strange, just not a fan. The service was nice and it wasn't too busy.

This place is soo sweet and they do half portion rolls but rather big pieces. I definitely recommend coming here if you want nigiri ** its not all you can eat. But the thickness of the fish cuts was PRESENT and tasted relatively fresh. My rolls were good and none of them tasted too heavy or oily or broke apart. The appetizers are simple but not super high quality. The service was excellent, but i guess because the plaza is relatively small and empty ( enough parking). It appears really close to choc hospital and is mainly korean ran. Anyways our server was super considerate- stepped in to clear plates when our order was ready and asked thoughtful questions such as if we were sharing rolls or where to place the menu we desired when our table was full. She even got us more ginger. I got the monster and winter which was enough to feel full, but the nigiri is saw my friends eat was thickk and they especially enjoyed the pepper salmon. Affordable casual place, kind of hidden across apartment complexes. Recommend to try this place out if you're in the area!

Family favorite! They have huge selection of rolls. And best of all, you can order " half" rolls, so that you can try out more varieties.

I can understand how business owners, managers, servers, and customers are all caught within the vicious fluctuations of markets and so on. However, what I was recently served at Kaizen Shabu last week was, to my mind, an egregious example of a restaurant offering well below the bare minimum of what should be expected for the prices listed (and my photos will show this, I believe). At the outset, I want to say I have no grievances with the servers. Our server was kind, attentive, and was elegantly multitasking. Bravo. Now, the food: we ordered the salmon "sashimi" plate, and what we were handed was a platter of the thinnest, grainiest, obviously-thawed and poorly sliced salmon I've ever eaten in my life. I was a bit shocked. At Cal Shabu Shabu (and other shabu places I tend to frequent more often), sashimi is... sashimi. It *looks* like sashimi because it IS sashimi: a piece of salmon purchased by the restaurant and knife-cut into appropriate portions depending on what portion size the customer has ordered. It is sashimi that gleans in the light, where the striations of fat and tissue are visible to the naked eye on the fish itself. As you can see from my photos, we were served paper-thin salmon that I could barely peel off of the plate with my chopsticks without ripping the fish into smaller, grainier pieces. It was all but inedible, in my opinion. This is not sashimi, and to serve such a thing for the price listed is beyond atrocious: it is an outright deception. Now, onto the side of veggies and noodles that come with every order of meat or fish. Perhaps the cooks could not be bothered, but what I received was broken tendrils of 2-inch udon haphazardly thrown into a bowl. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the chefs, with a dwindling supply of food nearer the end of the night, or if this restaurant truly does not care about the quality of what they are serving customers. Again, I think my pictures speak for themselves. I used to love coming here as the atmosphere was chic, and the servers are so kind. After my last dining experience, however, I cannot justify the price of my bill in the face of the quality of the food I am being served. I won't be returning, sadly. I hope the manager has an opportunity to look at these photos and perhaps reassess what can be done to improve what they are serving their customers.

I ordered the Inaka soba, which was very savory and flavorful. The bowl included tororo, mushrooms, bonito flakes, shredded nori, green onions, and an egg. I enjoyed the nutty buckwheat flavor from the soba noodles and the clean taste from the light dashi broth. My husband had the curry udon with beef. The curry was aromatic and came as a silky, soup-like consistency that coated each udon noodle nicely. It had a deep umami flavor. The udon was the ideal texture - thick and chewy. As for the beef, it was very tender. We shared a crunchy roll on the side. It was cut into 8 pieces. Every piece was super crispy and delicious. The main flavor came from the eel sauce, so it tasted very sweet and savory.

It wasn't fully packed by the time we sat down. While he was busy chatting with another table, we were waiting for 15 minutes before the guy who seated us came to take our order. We ordered and noticed people who were seated much later than us got their food already. Another server who brought food to the table next to us noticed us and asked if we got our food yet. He double checked for us and main server hadn't sent our order to the kitchen. We had already waited 25 minutes in addition after placing our order. Our order came out very quickly after the realization. Unfortunately the lemon salmon sushi roll that came out seemed incredibly rushed. The roll wasn't tucked in so each piece we grabbed broke apart. The fried squid legs were good. The udon texture was good, but by the time our food came out, we weren't in the best mood. All the waiting and lack of service ruined our appetite. The 2nd server gave us a bag of salted noodle toppings to-go as a solace for the bad service? Though this location is bigger than the original, I'll be going to the Costa Mesa restaurant for better service.
