I will always and forever recommend this amazing place of authentic Mexico city food, the tortas are HUGE, and you can add all the ingredients you would like on them, my personal favorite is Milanesa with Quesillo and Pineapple (MUST TRY). We have had two cashiers when we go here both are very nice persons who are very attentive, the ambiance is mostly quiet but then again we go here for almost exclusively breakfast , parking on the street may be challenging so keep that in mind. My only suggestion and please do this soon is let customers tip on card, almost no one carries cash this days and this workers deserve it! Boy oh boy was this meal heavy! I ordered the Cubana and my friend ordered the huevos torta! His was around $9.75? And mine was $13.75 + the medium horchata I ordered which was $2.50. So my total came out to be ~$18. I thought my Cubana was pretty tasty and extremely filling!! I was sooo full after eating half of it because it is packed with so much meat. I kind of wish they had a side of salad or some lettuce to help balance out the meal. If you are a meat lover though, this sandwich is for you.. there were at least 3-4 types of different meats in there -- hot dog like sausage, beef?, and pulled pork. They also had some jalepenos and egg in the torta! I liked my sandwich a lot and I think if I were in the neighborhood, I'd give this place another go/try something else on the menu. Each torta also comes with two sauces the red and the green sauce which is Chile verde and the red Chile sauce. The horchata was okay... it wasn't really what I'm used to (back in LA), I think it's kind of creamier than I expected? Either way, I'd definitely try another type of torta but probably pass on a drink here. Parking wasn't too difficult for us to find since there's quite a lot of meter parking but it also looks like there is a loading zone right in front of the restaurant as well. We waited around 5-8 mins for our tortas so if you don't want to wait, I'd order ahead of time. The tortas are delicious ! Size is huge 2-3 people could eat from just one. My favorite was the carne asada one , the mixture of flavors was great. the bread was toasted to perfection. The Tortas were extremely filling and huge in size. I got a Cubana with 6 different meats. Couldn't even finish the whole thing. So many different flavors crammed into one torta. Only one half cut of hotdog and barely saw any ham inside but it did have the steak and chicken in abundance inside. Couldn't finish it anyways so no big deal. I've ordered Tortas for the last 20 years from Tortas Boos Voni and have seen the change in ownership and quality of food. The food was insanely delicious and at an affordable price. Fast forward to now, the quality of the tortas has dropped significantly. I don't know if the recipes were changed, but the tortas do not taste the same and lack flavor. The cubana torta and milanesa de pollo were my favorite and filled with SO much flavor. We arrived Saturday around 2 pm and the restaurant was half empty. We saw a lot of people come pick up orders, so it seems like takeout is popular here. My friend ordered one of their vegetarian tortas, while I went with #7 ham omelette with beans and potatoes ($9.75). It took a while for our food to be ready, probably because of all the takeout orders. After waiting for close to 30 minutes, our food finally came out. I didn't realize the breakfast plates would come with tortillas, but I rolled with it and made breakfast tacos with omelette pieces topped with beans and potatoes. Yum! Unfortunately there was a lot of bell peppers added to the omelette which I ended up picking out, but I'm used to that as a pretty picky eater. My least favorite part of the platter was the potatoes, which were extremely bland. My friend really enjoys potatoes, and even he agreed these weren't good. Disappointing since they looked quite spiced up and yummy. My friend absolutely loved his torta and even said it's the best he's ever had, so I would definitely recommend getting that here. As much as I love burritos, tacos and hearty carne asada plates, I will always remember delicious tortas for being my gateway into Mexican food when I was a teenager. It may seem confusing at first, but the gist of it is that you order at the Clover register in the middle of the eatery and they bring your food out to you. Don't expect them to adjust the spice to your preference; you'll just have to roll with it. My boyfriend ordered the milanesa y quesillo, or a breaded steak and cheese. For just $1.25 more, though, you could go with the spirit of local recommendations. I decided on the Cubana, which includes 6 types of meat, such as ham, milanesa, chorizo, hot dog, pork loin and what I want to say was turkey. Every sandwich is an explosion of color, punctuated by dollops of admittedly spicy salsa served separately. Please douse your sandwiches in as much of the cold salsa as possible, because it brings out the best qualities of the salty meats and cheese. I preferred that heat over the flavor from the briny jalapeños. I wish I had ordered an agua fresca or horchata while I was there, but I was committed to not drinking my calories that day. The torta was the best salve for a body confused by Daylight Savings Time switches. I can only imagine how good it must be to people stumbling in for a greasy hangover cure. It's a small, hole in the wall kind of place, but the menu has a lot of selections. I sat at the counter. I was craving some Pazole. I ordered the red Pazole with pork and It did not disappoint. It came with a side bowl of onions, lettuce, and a couple of limes. Very Satisfying. The person behind the cash register was busy but also friendly. So the excelsior district got some pleasantly filling eats, this spot is definite must come back to try everything else they serve on there menu, primarily sandwiches it looks like is offered but they do offer rice plates, tacos, and some other dishes, all looked really good I was able to sample #21 the cuban sandwich, 5 meats, diced avocados, jalapenos, eggs, lets just say it was a big sandwich, the bread was light, not dense, buttered, the meats from what I can taste were slice of ham, hotdogs, chorizo with egg, thin slice of bistek, I believe the last meat is pork sauteed in a red sauce. Meshed together you may not think it works but when it is piping hot and in your face, it is worth every bite, salty meshed with semi hard avocados, then the odd taste of sliced hotdogs with egg & chorizo mesh, followed by the jalapeno kicker with the white meat sauteed with that red sauce, oh man definitely not for the faint of heart. A must try in m books, I will be back for other dishes they offer, the sopes look good, the durango plate looks good, everything looked good. I also sampled a sliver of the hawaiian sandwich, which was meat and pineapples with the same roll of bread, allot lighter then the cubano sandwich, I would sample it again if I am less hungry. Quite an extensive list of tortas to choose from, about 30 tortas total. Along with a few breakfast items and other options but it's obvious this is a torta spot. Many people rave about Torta Cubanas because of its sheer size and combination of ingredients. Too me the many flavors get lost in the mix and leave me feeling full, guilty, sleepy, and farting mess. Much better to me are the simple tortas like Milanesa de Pollo. So that's what I ordered: Milanesa de Pollo: it's breaded and fried chicken breast. Along with everything which includes lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, queso fresco, and jalapeños. Not to be overlooked is the fresh salsa verde they serve at Boos Voni, it's delicious. These torta sandwiches sell from $6.50 to $9.00 depending on which one ordered. I have a big appetite and even I would have preferred to share my torta.
