My father (in his 70s) has been in twice in recent weeks (most recently two nights ago), and he has been treated so professionally by the staff at Town Fair Tire's Vernon location. They have provided great workmanship and service, and the staff have been extremely friendly and respectful of his time and needs. I cannot recommend this location enough! We were told it was "corrosion." They said it was not drivable and would need a tow and agreed to pay for half since it happened on their time. I demanded a full price pay since we drove the truck in with no signs of brake problems no grinding squeaking or leaking. They refused to acknowledge this was their fault. I took a look at the RUBBER brake line over left front tire where brake fluid was leaking and saw a RIP. Not corrosion. Towed it to monroe as it was now undrivable. The mechanic there took one look and said town fair tire ripped it by jamming the wheel on and tearing it. Called customer service and Rich from east haven was very nice and helpful and reimbursed the cost of the tow and repair. It is the staff at town fair tire in vernon who were condescending and rude and refused to acknowledge that they caused this that will keep me from ever returning to any town fair tire again. My front left tire had been losing air for a few month. I would add air and away I'd go for a time. Until it would happen again. I finally got around to calling for a new tire. The staff were courteous and very helpful. They gave me a quote and emailed it to me as well. I made an appointment to replace the tire for the following day. When I arrived, Chris greeted me and I explained what was going on. I then asked about perhaps seeing if the tire could be fixed. He took a look at the tire, and told me that they would check that before putting the new tire on. I took a stroll over to KMart as they worked on the tire. I received 2 texts, one telling me they were working on the car and one telling me they had finished. When I walked in, Chris told me that the technician was able to fix the tire!!! Researched several places online for snow tires and found these guys were willing to price match to any competitor. After entering the competitor information, I received no phone call or email as promised. Thinking I may have entered the information incorrectly a few days later I tried the online price matching tool again and still received no phone call confirming whether or not they would honor their price match guarantee. Went ahead and purchased tires from an online competitor who was offering free shipping and mail in rebate with purchase (which by the way Town Fair includes shipping charges in their price match so it would have been more expensive to purchase through them even with the "price match"). Called up Town Fair this morning to see when I could bring my new tires in for simple mount/balance. Explained how I purchased them brand new online. They told me to come in right away and they could fit me in. After driving all the way there, they refuse to mount BRAND NEW tires because they will only mount tires purchased at Town Fair. Their price match policy is a joke and is only a scheme to get you in the door. Their tires are overpriced. Bringing the tires to be mounted/balanced somewhere else. One star for wasting my time. read more

I have been a very satisfied customer of Town Fair tire Vernon for many years and through at least four vehicles. I tend to do a lot of dirt and back road driving so have needed service more than the normal twice yearly seasonal tire changeovers and frequent alignments. Chris Solomon in particular has been extremely helpful during all of my "foreign items stuck in tire" instances over the last several years. I feel secure knowing that if a tire goes flat or if my tire pressure light goes on I can go there and have whatever is needed taken care of as soon as humanly possible. The guaranteed lowest price match nationwide warranty was NOT matched after the sale even though they state that clearly on the sale invoice. The continental tires I bought for my car were approx $20 higher(each tire) than the online competitor Tirebuyer.com and tirerack.com. The salesman outright refused to match the price and thats clearly not honoring the AFTER SALE price match. I am very much dissappointed with the tire purchase at Town fair tire Vernon. Please use some other tire retailer OR purchase online and get that installed by their own installers. read more

Town Fair Tire Vernon is a great experience. I went in and priced the new original tires on my Subaru at 1800 dollars. Too expensive so they offered some alternative cheaper tires at 900 dollars. I choose the Summitomo for my Legacy and they are good tires, not as great as original but still good for price. The store smells very strongly of rubber so I went next door to Kmart to kill 2 hours wait time and did some shopping. Busy store but excellent experience for me. They even found a small problem with my wheel but I decided not to get it repaired as it was minor. Great bunch of guys. I would go back to Town Fair Tire anytime. Bottom line: Stay AWAY from these guys. After several years of dealing with them they seem to be a lousy outfit. Took several years for me to reach this conclusion, but here's the story. When I needed tires a few years ago a good friend, long-time in the area, recommended Town Fair Tire in Vernon (ct). They are quite local/convenient, gave me quick and good service, except they didn't have the tire in stock they first recommended and put me into a slightly cheaper set. No big deal, but you'd think they guy would know his inventory. I sent my wife there a year later for tires and they did the exact same thing to her (switched her into a different tire after recommending another). Again no big deal, but twice making the same mistake. Hmmm, got my attention a bit, but filed it away. Scroll forward two years and my wife (a retired 30-year school teacher) says she's having terrible problems in the snow (no snowfall to speak of that first winter). A few weeks ago, I took her car out in six inches of fresh snow and had the absolute worst driving experience of my life. On her previous tires, when she first got the car (front wheel drive Honda), I took it out to test in snow in an empty parking lot and could not even spin the thing out; damn excellent handling in the snow. Now on these tires, being in the snow was a disaster, slipping and slidiing with the worst traction experience I ever had in my life (30+ years winter driving in the northeast). She took the tires to another shop and their instant response was the tires had no business being on her car at all, let alone in the snow. For the heck of it, I took her car back to Town Fair to see what they would say, and low and behold, all I got was stonewalled dead silence when they found out they had provided the tires. And no, I wasn't about to do any further business with them, so, I just walked away. Say what you will, but my take was that the several employees we dealt with knew exactly what they were doing in each case (switching us out of the first selected tires, presumably for something they'd make more money on), and then putting bum tires on her car any way. They relied on our ignorance and worse, violated our trust in their supposed expertise. I'll allow I had no complaints with service, but if you do go there, certainly you should not rely on their expertise. Do your homework off the internet and tell THEM which model tire you want. My experience with Town Fair Tire was expensive and painful. I arrived at around 11:30 one morning needing tires for my truck. The tires they had to offer me were very expensive but I had waited too long to get tires I didn't have much choice. We wrote them up I paid for them I mentioned a shaking in the front and my tire pressure light was on if they could fix it or let me know what was wrong I would appreciate it. I had a friend meet me there and took me home. I never received notification when the job was completed so I called and went down around 1:30. When I walked in there were 4 men leaning on the counter with a balance sheet in their hands and my keys. They handed them to me and told me where to get my truck. When I first pulled out I realized the truck still vibrates and my steering wheel is not straight it was turned to the left. On my way home I was very upset. I had just spent $900 to fix problems with the truck and it still was wrong. When I arrived home I called the number on the invoice to complain. The number was to a call center. It took me a half hour to get the store number and talk to someone at the store I had just left. When I did reach someone they told me I was right something was wrong and I needed to go back. My friend and I jumped in the truck and headed back. When I got there we had to go over everything one more time. They told me they would realign the truck and scan the tire pressure valves, something they were already supposed to have done, and let me know what is going on. We left and returned after 40 minutes. The vehicle would not be ready for another hour to an hour and a half. At this time 3:30 I felt I had wasted my day at Town Fair Tire. I had to call my 78 year old mother in South Windsor to come and pick us up. Again I received no notification when the truck was completed. I called around 4:45 to check on it and found it was ready. This time they talked to me about the problems. My front wheel was bent therefor it was/is the problem with the truck shaking when you start off. To help they moved the tire to the back and realigned the truck. The valve stem sensor that is causing the trouble was in the spare under the truck and would cost about $59 more to fix. So basically I was there all day for overpriced tires and an unaligned truck. Why couldn't they see the bent wheel the first time? Why couldn't they use the spare tire wheel? Why didn't they tell me about the valve stem when they fixed my flat 2 months earlier? I called the store to voice my disappointment with this store. They wanted me to come back. My steering wheel was still not straight and if you let go of the wheel the truck veers to the right. They wanted me to go back! Are they crazy? Unless they came to pick up the truck and take it to be repaired at no extra cost this was not happening. I will never recommend or go to another Town Fair Tire again. The regional manager was the last one to call me he left a message that they wanted to make this right if I could call and give him a number where he could reach me. Didn't he just call it and left the message?! Never heard from them again they must not care too much. Now I have to take the truck somewhere else and pay more money to fix what I already paid dearly for. read more

I WOULD NEVER COME HERE AGAIN OR RECOMEND TO ANYONE. STAY AWAY This place is absolutely awfull. I am sitting here right now. I have been waiting for an hour and a half, I just saw them pull my car in now when I had an appointment for an hour and a half ago. I am here for a second set of wheels because after buying a set of winter tires and brand new black wheels which I told them I did not want hubcaps put on they put the hubcaps on, scratching the wheels. Obviously I demanded new wheels, I did not just spend $600 for brand new wheels for them to scratch. So I shouldn't be here at all today and here I am an hour and a half after my appointment and they just pulled my car in. Don't bring your car here ever. I wouldn't come back here if they offered me a free set of tires. I am a motorcycle technician by the way so I know what is involved with changing tires and wheels and running a shop.
