After dining many times at their Woburn location I was excited to hear they opened up a north end location. I ate their tonight with a group of friends and it did not disappoint. Service was great, prices were reasonable for the neighborhood and food was stellar. We started off with the melanzana, shrimp grand marnier, and arancinis, all were amazing!!! We went here on a whim for our last night in Boston. The restaurant had great reviews on here. So glad we went! Food was incredible. We really loved this place! Just came in for an app and glass of wine. Stayed for two of each and were thrilled! Had their eggplant appetizer with cheese and pesto and also the clams in red sauce. I don't do spicy so hubby asked how spicy they were. Nicole had the kitchen do a mild version and it rocked!!! Can't believe they just opened. My boyfriend and I just decided to drop over this place for a quick pasta because penne pink looked amazing in the pictures. We went almost at their closing time but they happily took us in. Our waiter left a lot to be desired. The food was good, but he told the table that gratuity was not already included and it was. Either he didn't understand the math or he lied to us to receive double the tip. He gave pushback about splitting up order before he had even rang in the entrees and guilted us into splitting one check eight ways so he didn't have to do the work himself. At the end he made several comments about making sure we give his pens back because one customer lied to him about stealing one. Our group still tipped him well, but this is absolutely unacceptable. read more

A delicious, intimate experience in Italian dining. Pork Rosemarino paired with a delicious Chianti and mashed potatoes was terrific. Table got various pasta dishes, all very impressive and all satisfying. Bread was over-done, but did not stop us from partaking. We ate here two weekends ago at the start of a 17 day tour of New England, and, boy it was Delicious! We walked in on a Saturday night after reading reviews on yelp and being unable to get into Carmelina's a block over. We were seated immediately at the only remaining open table. The food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful. Our family of four fought over the shared meatball appetizer - try it, you won't be disappointed! I had the carbonara pasta - rich, flavorful, al dente - and my husband had the chicken parmesan (huge portion, perfectly sauce, seasoned and cooked). Our kids (17 & 11) oggled over the shrimp pasta a lady at the table next to us was eating, and turns out it was a special request. The kitchen offered to make two more. Both kids loved it and we appreciated the personal touch. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. Skip Carmelina's and the head to this rustic gem instead! read more

We walked in on a beautiful evening. The front windows/doors sliders were fully extended to bring the outside into the restaurant. It had a good vibe. We had never been there but we had reservation. We were brought downstairs next to a large private party. Totally a different vibe, movies playing the Bronx tale and the goodfellas. Not so good while u are eating. We were there Saturday night October 20th they were understaffed (no shows)with only two waiters and they were really working hard(running)they did a very good job. We had a very tasty dinner, good bread beforehand, a nice dipping sauce not on a plate but in a cute bowl. We had a chicken dish and a pasta dish and they're both very good. Stopped by because my sister said it was good. Living in the North End I don't make a habit of going to Italian restaurants. I prefer a Steakhouse. That being said, the place was excellent. I had a Cesar salad that was outstanding. I sat at the bar so I wasn't looking for a lot of food. The bartender suggested the eggplant appetizer. Omg is was delicious, never had eggplant like that before. Covered in pesto sauce it was so good when she first put it down I said I'll take some home. Needless to say I ate the whole thing. checked out the rating before going to Boston. we arrived on time were seated quickly. we ordered 1 appetizer, then dinner, 2 had a veal dish, 1 had the pork chop, 1 had a rigatoni, and 1 had the lobster ravioli. all dinners were excellent. however 1 small issue, I was looking forward to a martini, however they only have a cordial license, so we had to order wine, which was fine and priced decently. Went here for Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. I know Valentine's Day is a tough night, but from the beginning it was a bad experience. Had an 8:30 pm reservation... Waited about 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us waiting at host stand while only 3 servers were running around like crazy. Finally, when we sat (there was about 4 empty tables downstairs), took 10 mins for cold bread. When waiter came over for order, he made us order drinks, apps, and entrees all at once. I was like ok fine, assuming they would space it out and were busy so didn't think it would be a big deal. But then apps came out shortly after. Still waiting on drinks. Then had to ask again for our drinks because it was about 20 mins since we ordered them. While we were still eating our appetizers, our meals came out. Pretty disappointing, we wanted a nice long dinner so we could enjoy the night but we were out of there by 9:30pm on the dot (sitting less than an hour) It was insane.. got the impression they were slammed then they tossed all our food and drinks at the same time. Also, definitely not hand made pasta. Food was fine, nothing special. A fairish price point for below average Italian food compared to other prices at better restaurants. This restaurant is a gem, and needs way more hype. It's relatively new, and quaint, but it's already become a favorite of mine. I've already visited twice in a week. I enjoy the mix of more modern twists on what's so traditional in the north end. My waiter, forgot his name, was professional, pleasant, and not overbearing. He checked in about twice while dining, and I never felt ignored. You can definitely tell he cared about our dining experience. Water was always topped off, and bread basket always filled. Their complementary bread basket is a huge reason I go as well. Wonderfully baked bread and warm, and their olive oil dip is full of spices - the oil is probably the best flavor-wise I've had so far in the north end, its gold - tons of spices! That's unique considering most places just give plain old olive oil, which is so ho hum. I enjoyed my meals every time I go, the pacing of food and appetizers was always perfect. I do think they could expand their menu a bit more for more choices, but the menu is serviceable and food was excellent. Definitely worth a visit if you want a great meal. read more
