Met my wife for a late lunch at TreMonte on a Saturday afternoon. The bartender, Rob, was attentive (but not overly so), friendly and professional. He didn't ignore us, but also didn't pressure us to order food as we lingered at the bar sipping our wine as we looked over the menu. For starters, we ordered a couple of appetizers - the arancini and the calamari. The arancini consisted of three deep fried rice balls, stuffed with cheese and served over a red sauce that appeared to have some sausage in it and garnished with a sprinkling of fresh basil. It was delicious! Calamari can be tough if it's overcooked, but this calamari was both perfectly cooked and seasoned - including properly seasoning the batter so the diner wouldn't have to add salt. The calamari had a nice mix of rings and tentacles and was served with sliced hot peppers, mayonnaise and marinara on the side. For entrées, my wife had the eggplant parmesan, while I had the chicken and eggplant parmesan. Both dishes come with a side of pasta. Neither one of us could finish the pasta and my wife could only finish about half of what was a generous and very tasty eggplant parmesan. My chicken and eggplant parmesan was equally tasty although the chicken was a little overcooked, making it a little tough. Lastly, even though we were both pretty full, we split a dessert of three mini cannolis, stuffed to order and drizzled with chocolate sauce. The prices are reasonable, portion sizes are generous and the effort the kitchen puts into its dishes shows. While they don't have a full liquor license, they do have a beer, wine and cordial license. Frankly, I think that's a good thing, because it keeps the focus on the food. We'll be back. read more

I've now visited this location three times. The first was with my spouse, the next time was on my own after work one evening (sat at the bar which still offers full meal service), and the most recent time was last night on a double date with friends from Lowell. Each time I had excellent food that was fresh and so incredibly tasty, service that was quick and professional (thanks Joe, Nicole & Rob!), and wine that is reasonably priced and delicious. I'm so glad they decided to open a place in the North End, because otherwise, I never would have known TreMonte existed! Anytime anyone asks where they should go in the North End for delicious pasta, home made meatballs, arancini, gemeli and sausage, or good red wines, I direct them to TreMonte. Lovely place, lovely people. My boyfriend and I stopped in late on a Tuesday for a glass of wine and appetizers for him. He loved his food (shrimp and meatballs), especially the shrimp. But we didn't realize we walked they were about to close. But they were so gracious about it. We felt so bad but then felt better when we heard their personal plans. What a hidden gem on Salem Street!! We just left and will most definitely be back. We started off with shrimp gran marnier. You get 5 nice size shrimp in a nice sauce, it was sweet so if you don't like sweet don't try it. We also got mussels, very flavorful and delicious. For our dinner we got the pasta carbonara, gnocchi, pork chops and Veal Marsala. Everything we got was a 10. Service was outstanding as Jennifer and Rob were super nice. We decided to try this restaurant based on the good reviews. Unfortunately, we never got the opportunity to try the food. We made a 6:45 reservation through OpenTable and the restaurant was clearly severely understaffed. There was no one to check us in until around 7:00, and it was not until 7:15 that they had a table available for us. Given the slow service the tables around us were receiving, we were concerned that we would not be eating for a while and decided to leave to get food elsewhere. I wanted to leave an OpenTable review. However, even though we checked in at the restaurant, they canceled our reservation later that night so I was not able to leave any feedback. read more

Probably the best restaurant I've been to. The food was delicious. The bread was beautiful, everything was perfectly seasoned, and the dessert was exquisite. My family had the Melanzana, Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Paradiso, and Penne Arrabiatta, and we all agreed the taste was amazing. The food wasn't too heavy or overwhelming; it had the perfect amount of sauce and seasoning. The portion sizes were generous. Even though we were all full, the dessert was worth it. We had cannoli and tiramisu. They were delicate and had just the right amount of sweetness. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming - there was open air seating or a more secluded section downstairs. Our servers, Alex and Max, were extremely kind. Wow good. Probably the best pork chops with vinegar peppers I've ever had. Literally melt in your mouth. Wife got the carbonara and the waiter (also the bartender) recommended adding chicken to it which was a great idea. Santa Cristina Super Tuscan wine was very good. Table of 6 we split mussels, anitpasto, and shrimp for apps. Shrimp was sweet and great but if you don't like sweet not for you. Mussels were a meal of their own. Delicious. Dessert good not great. Highly recommend this place as I also tried the lobster ravioli and they obviously now how to cook pasta. We tried each other's dishes and the ravioli won although I voted for pork chops. I'd actually give a 4 1/2 star as the wine list was small which since they only have a cordial liquor license was disappointing. But the wines we got (a Malbec as well) were very good. So this is my first review (ever!), which TreMonte has definitely earned. My wife and I have been here three times now, twice over the summer and again just last night, and we've yet to be disappointed! So far we have had the Chicken Parmigiana, Wild Mushroom Ravioli, and Rigatoni Norcina and all have been excellent. We also get the Melazana (breaded eggplant) for a starter every time, which was a recommendation from Jennifer our first time in. We live in southern NH, but our son actually lives in the North End (for over a year and a half). This is also his favorite place to eat right now and gets takeout from here once a week (he loves the Wild Mushroom Ravioli). We have been coming into the North End about once a month or so since he's been living here to have dinner with him, and usually try somewhere different or go back to a places a couple times, but TreMonte is that place that we just want to keep going back to. Other than the food, the atmosphere is perfect for us, just the right amount of really nice inside while still feeling very casual. We actual love the way we feel that we get service like you would in the most expensive restaurant (TreMonte is very reasonably priced) , but the staff are so down to earth and great to talk to. Rob and Jennifer are amazing!!!! Rob was our server last night, which was our first time meeting him, but our son has commented on how awesome he is every time he comes in too. My suggestion would be to listen to Rob and Jennifer's recommendations, they have not steered us wrong yet, from the Tuscan wine, to our favorite Melazana for an app that I mentioned, to other non-food things like front window tables are a great place to sit even in the winter (next to the door) if not during busy times (earlier) when people are always coming in and out. We actually ate at here last night for dinner on our way to a Bruins game. This is great spot to eat before an event at the Garden, park at Cooper st parking lot in the North End ($20 on non-game nights and only $37 for Bruins and Celtics nights, which is cheaper than most places). It's even easier if you get BestParking app on your phone, and pre-pay for parking before yet get there and just barcode in-and-out. Cooper St parking is literally a two minute walk to TreMonte and only a five minute walk to the Garden. Lobster ravioli was great. Yummy sauce perfect to scoop up with remaining bread they serve at the beginning. It comes with about 5 large raviolis and two large, well-prepared shrimp. I don't so much recommend the bruschetta. The tomatoes on it were underripe, not sweet, almost bitter, and the bruschetta lacked much flavor. Right now this restaurant seems to be less busy than most of the packed restaurants in Little Italy because it is newer, so it's a good option if you are facing a long wait at other spots. My husband and I have lived in the North End for 7 years, and TreMonte is our new favorite restaurant. We love it because the food is delicious, it is affordable, and the service is fantastic. We've tried almost all of the pasta dishes, and they are all really good. Most of the pasta is homemade, too. For picky eaters or people with food allergies, they are extremely accommodating and let you take out certain ingredients or add in items, a different kind of pasta, etc... I highly recommend TreMonte. You also will probably not have to wait to be seated, which is an added bonus...the location of TreMonte seems to be cursed (probably because it's at the top of Salem street). There have been multiple good restaurants in this location, and none of them have lasted for more than a year or so. I hope TreMonte lasts because it's one of the best North End restaurants. Came here for a reservation on a Friday night with 5 people. We were seated promptly and bread, appetizers, and entrees came out perfectly timed. Every thing was delicious- we had the eggplant, calamari, a pizza, carbonaras and the pink sauce pasta. Everyone really loved their dishes. Setting was casual and intimate, but tables are far enough away where you're not too on top of eachother. They were clearly understaffed but the service was still great! After a great day of touring Boston, we decided to try some of the North ends famed Italian cuisine. It is a smaller restaurant with about 12 tables upstairs and a full bar. We were seated promptly by the hostess who also served as the bartender and waitress. She was amazing. There was no wait for the appetizers nor the food. The melazana was unbelievably good. Most of the pastas are made in house. The lobster ravioli was some of the best I've ever had. It was a wonderful atmosphere and the food matched it. Highly recommend you give it a try. read more
