11/15/2020 Quarantine Day 244 All my years living in San Francisco, I have never gotten Trish's Mini Donuts when I've visited Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. I was craving something sweet after our lunch, and my boyfriend suggested we get some mini donuts from Trish's. There was a line but it went by super fast. You can see how the doughnuts are made through the window, which is really cool! The doughnut maker makes a lot of mini doughnuts at a time. We ordered 1 dozen mini doughnuts to share. I think a bucket of these would have been too much unless you're in a group of 3 or 4. They tasted great! They are freshly made, super light and airy. I just wish that the sugar they tossed on top was more evenly distributed. Other than that, no complaints! They're the best thing about the tourist wasteland of Pier 39. With all of that said... The negative reviews here seem to have a shocking degree of misunderstanding of how a mini-donut stand operates. So let me clear it all up. If you ask for two dozen donuts split into two bags, they will charge you the price for two individual dozens. It's more expensive. They won't hide that from you. So decide in advance if it's worth an extra $3 for a second bag or if you can just share. On a related note, if you scream about being overcharged, you might get some money back, but no one else in line will appreciate you. If there is a sign up that notes they are temporarily "Cash Only" because of a cash register problem, and you actually have enough cash, and pay with that cash, they will probably not apologize that you could not see the two signs saying that they are only accepting cash. Because you had the cash and had no problem paying with it. They don't serve maple syrup or sprinkles and never hint that they do. If you show up expecting maple syrup and sprinkles you will definitely be disappointed. Yes, they will probably ignore you if you try to order chicken fingers and fries... because they only sell donuts and coffee. If you take the donuts home, eat them, then call to complain that you didn't like them, they will probably offer to give you fresh donuts if you come back. But they won't refund your money for donuts you already ate. And, most importantly, if you don't like donuts, you probably won't like these donuts. Because you don't like donuts. read more

Decided on getting just a 12 pack, and they were so delicious! As soon as I got my order, the paper packet was hot to touch, but not too hot for me to pop one of those babies in my mouth. It was so fresh, hot and good that it literally melted. I should have gotten the 24 pack as 12 were barely enough for the 3 of us! As you approach the kiosk, there is always a continuous flow of those minis hitting that hot oil and then doused in granulated sugar. I have never gotten a cold one as they are always fresh. They continue to taste the same everytime I come out to visit and that is nice to know as I have that taste etched into my subconscious and expect those minis to match up perfectly once they hit my mouth. Stayed at a hotel nearby here and I remember eating these donuts that are so nice and toasty in the nice cold weather SF has to offer. For me eating something nice and warm in cold weather is a great experience. My friends and I decided to check this place out and saw on Yelp it closes at 9PM. I've been a long time customer of Trish's since I was a kid. I remember back in the day where they'd sell bags and you could refill them for just a few dollars. I used to save them and every time I went back to the pier, I would bring that bag and get it refilled. Unfortunately that deal is long gone. I always get trish's every time I'm at the pier (which isn't very often only if I have friends visiting San Francisco and I'm giving them a tour).
