I ordered shawarma plate, chicken was cooked perfectly and rice to meat ratio was great. The only thing that I can think of is the portions of baba ghanouj and tabouli was bit small. I ordered late night so maybe they were out of it, also they forgot they put the sauces I requested which is not a big deal. Let me tell you about my dad. He immigrated to the United States in the 80's for college, went back to the Middle East, started his life, married my mom and had my oldest brother and I. We moved to California and we've seen the culinary terrain evolve and the excitement of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors boom. Truly Mediterranean has been around longer than I have, and every time I go I'm met with not only a massive hit of the most amazing smells I've smelt, but one of the kindest staffs ever. You can tell when a staff is happy, if the line goes out the door, they're slammed with orders, and everyone's laughing, having a good time, and is serious about the food, you know you're in a well run establishment. Skip going to western falafel spots and get something true and authentic. The house sauce for the falafel is amazing and rivals a classic tahini! I always go for a chicken or beef wrap and I take some falafel and tabbouleh home! With limited indoor and a small out door seating, I'm always more than happy to eat as I stand. I discovered their Feta Cheese Wrap by accident when Grubhub delivered the wrong order to me. I know it doesn't sound like an exciting wrap, but Wow! It was amazing, and I got it for free. I am truly a fan of Mediterranean food, easily top three cuisines. Now, Mediterranean food is rampant where I used to live in south bay, and there are sporadic pops of Mediterranean restaurants I've visited along the 101 through the peninsula. When I moved north back here, it seemed a little harder to find Mediterranean spots (they're here, but not as abundant or are easily overlooked). With tons of reviews, I was wondering if this was going to be my one true Mediterranean go-to. The Mediterranean combo plate (vegetarian) was my favorite item. The ingredients were fresh and full of lemon zest, and the plate was a nice cold mix of different textures and flavors. It comes with hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouli, Jerusalem salad (all cucumbers), dolma, feta cheese, falafel, chopped raw onions with some sumac sprinkles, pita bread, and the tahini and hot sauce - a great deal for $11.99! The falafel were nicely crisp, the spreads were flavorful with a smooth consistency, the salads were fresh and finely chopped, and the big blocks of feta cheese were milky and great! The pita bread was still hot, and had a nice chew. I wanted to try their meats, so I got the kabob sampler plate for $26.99 which includes kefta, lamb, and chicken on rice along with hummus, tabouli, grilled tomatoes, pickles, and pita bread. This thing was packed with meats, so it was awesome in regards to quantity. I thought the rice was moist and flavored well, too, almost like a yummy Rice-A-Roni pilaf. The meats were unfortunately too overcooked for me, and a little bland. I wish I had a jar of sumac to pour over them for flavor. The kefta was the best kabob, since it had the most flavor inherently packed into it. I wish I liked the meats more, but they really had to be eaten with the sauces. Another meat that people seem to rave about is the lamb shawarma. I got a 1/2 pint of the meat only, which is a good deal at $5.99. Unfortunately, the lamb was also dry. There were little scraps of fat and it did seem to be seasoned well, but it was hard to eat even with the sauce. If you don't mind dry meat, it's a good deal. Keep in mind that lamb shawarma is only served Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sat, and Sun, while chicken shawarma is on Tues and Fri. The pistachio baklava at $3.25 provided a more positive ending. Very flaky, buttery, and perfectly balanced with sweetness and pistachio. I liked how there were lots of chopped up pistachios within, and it's a rather bigger piece for the price. No, I did not find a casual Mediterranean place that I truly love in San Francisco yet. If you go vegetarian, you'll enjoy the fresh veggie dishes here. However, if you want meat, it seems like it'll be dry. Regardless, I was able to get through them with the sauces and still consider it an okay value if you like well-done meat. read more

Ordered two deluxe wraps - one chicken and one lamb. Deluxe means that eggplant and French fries are added to the wrap, but barely! I watched him add the deluxe additions, and it was so little! Literally 2 French fries were added. Feel like I was cut short in that regard. Both were good but the chicken was far more superior. Warning: portion sizes for sides are FALSE AND MISLEADING We ordered an order of falafel, pita bread, 1 pint of rice, and 1 pint of the lamb shawarma and upon getting home and checking the container they were put in, we realized that the containers looked small. This triggered me to pull out a measuring cup and upon dumping the contents of the container into the measuring cup (and filling the container with water and repeating the process,) we realized that the containers only hold 3/4 pint. At best, this is a case of severe negligence in choosing the proper sized container (though I'm fairly certain when you buy these, they tell you the capacity) at worst, the owner is purposely scamming people. Given the containers top out at 12 oz, you can't even use the excuse of "maybe you tamped down the food you got to make it more dense." I was going to leave it at 1 star, but the food was tasty (rice was seasoned well and the falafel was great,) and so I'm going to give them 2 stars, but the scamming on portion sizes is not cool. read more

Oh no! Heed caution. I ordered delivery from Uber Eats. The food arrived quickly and great driver, so no issue with the delivery. The food on the other hand was just got good. I ordered a 1/2 pint of hummus, two pieces of pita, the lamb skewer, and the lamb shawarma. The hummus was topped with oil and about a 1/2" of sumac. The container of hummus wasn't full. The hummus itself was good, but the overdose of sumac was odd. I'm glad I ordered pita as the hummus didn't come with pita. Who sells hummus and no pita? At least note it on the menu. The pita I ordered arrived cold and wrapped in foil. The food was hot to the touch and the pita was ice cold and dry. I've had Mediterranean food delivered from other places (Oren's is the bomb!!) and it arrived soft and warm. Other places it's lightly grilled or tossed in the oven. The lamb skewer and shawarma were different. The skewer came off the skewer. The lamb was chewy but has a good flavor. It had very small pieces of bell pepper and raw onion. Who eats raw onion? Not grilled nor marinated. The shawarma plate had shaved lamb cooked until the moisture was all gone, one raw onion sliced (nope not grilled nor marinated), yellow rice (tasty), hummus, tabouli salad, and lots and lots of sumac. The restaurant must of gotten a pallet of sumac at a killer price. Again no pita with the meal. If you like raw onions, dry lamb, sumac by the spoonful, and cold dry pita bread, then I'd highly recommend Truly Mediterranean. read more

I wished the wrap could be pita bread instead as it didn't hold the ingredients well, so make sure to have napkins at hand.
