Was here one other time and it was for breakfast, which I had recalled was great! But today was another story. My husband I and came in for lunch at approximately 12:10 pm. This restaurant touts breakfast, brunch, lunch. Ok, so this is their specialty. Expected was great, prompt service and "hot" food in a timely manner. We are not greeted immediately as we walk up to get seated. I awkwardly stand there in front of a young lady waiting for her to acknowledge my presence. Eventually she looks directly at me, says nothing so I said, "two". There was zero communication other than that. She takes us to the furthest, most tight two top in the restaurant between a booth and an already seated 3 top. The worse part wasn't that I was butted up to someone's coat/chair but that my husband had to sit in front a booth in which his chair is in front of one of the two entry points to the semi circle booth. But wait, it does get worse, a party of 5 get seated there and are struggling to pass by my husband to get in, knocking into him. They too were ignorant for agreeing not only to be seated there but to not even say excuse me or scootch around the table to fit in. So we moved to an adjacent table that felt like you were in the server station watching everyone go to and from the bathroom. Let's get to food and service. Zoe was nice enough, however the kitchen must have gone down. Although the clam chowder for my husband came out right away, it was barely warm. He ate it anyway, had i known, I would have sent it back. 45 minutes for two sandwiches? Are you kidding me? His "Bubbie" lacked any substantial amount of meat and my Cuban wasn't hot plus they didn't give me coke slaw as noted on the menu! So two coffees, a cup of cold soup, 2 lackluster sandwiches, bad service = $30! And a waste of our time. Take me to a diner for half the price, better and quicker service and we won't have to be seated on top of people! Turning Point is a great concept but not executed well at all. read more

My first visit to Turning Point was outstanding. Fantastic food and even better service. Sad to report that this visit was disappointing. The restaurant was not busy, only 4 tables in use in the room I was sat ( no more than 3 customers at each table), yet it took over 10 minutes for my server to come over. I waited tables in my youth, so I know when a restaurant is slammed. Turning Point was NOT busy. When my breakfast arrived, the pancake was like warm at best. Unfortunately, the server didn't show up to ask how my food was until I was more than half way finished. I was so impressed after my first visit, so hugely disappointed after my second. read more

So thankful for the service here at Turning Point in Princeton! I arrived to the location later than everyone else; however my party was told it would be a 30 minute wait. We did not wait a full 30 minutes. Once seated the waitress stopped by, poured us water and then she took our drink orders. Word on the street is that their iced tea is great, so I tried the white peach pear. They serve their teas unsweetened with a mini carafe of simple syrup to add if you'd like to sweeten it. Cutest thing! I opted for the simple syrup sweetener instead of putting sugar, and it tasted fine. Waitress came back and took food orders, and I had the create your own combo with Santa Fe salad and the turkey chili. Didn't seem like the food took forever as most reviews I read mentioned. Could also be because I was dining with old colleagues and we were yapping since we haven't seen each other in over a year. We sorta lost track of time. Ate, then ordered muffins and coffee and before we knew it, it was 3:50 pm! The muffin btw, blue berry walnut - they slices it in half toasted it, served with butter and the waitress brought extra candied walnuts. It was SO good (walnuts too!) Not once did the team warn us that it close to or well beyond their closing time. They just let us enjoy ourselves and it was much appreciated! We certainly tipped the waitress accordingly. I have to say I was really impressed with Turning Point! I came on a Sunday morning around 11:30 after yoga class with a friend and the wait was about an hour long. Luckily two people were leaving the bar counter so we jumped on that opportunity and were sat immediately. I was surprised at how many healthy and creative options there were. I decided on the pesto egg white skillet with a side of fruit and an English muffin. The fruit was very fresh. There are a ton of options available for anyone's liking ranging from healthy to not healthy. I would recommend this place, just be prepared to wait a little for a table. Plus? You are a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch - and brunch on the weekends. Yet you can't seem to handle doing that on a nice Sunday at noon. At all. As in, you're a bunch of INCOMPETENT people and I would never come back or recommend this to friends. 4 of us arrived a few minutes after noon - a family reunion and we just wanted a nice meal without too much fuss. The place was packed - which is usually a good sign, right? A dozen people waiting to be seated - and that's where the trouble started. The hostess was completely clueless and overwhelmed or just ignorant of what her function was. She had no idea how to handle seating people. My companion stood in front of the check-in counter area for a full 10 minutes before even being acknowledged. The hostess was trying to take phone orders and had no clue how to do that - at the same time as trying to figure out seating. You have 6 outdoor tables - one of them was seated, two were empty, and 3 tables were clearly not being used, which makes no sense. There was another group that wanted to sit down, and then a third group just walked up and sat down without seeing the hostess. She had to make them give up the table. Meanwhile, as we were watching, the third table was seated - and they sat there. And sat there. It was a full 15 minutes on my watch before a waiter even approached them. Another waiter got involved in seating people and told us we could sit at the 3rd outside table. Which we did. But then realized the sun was burning hot, no umbrella, and of course we overheard the other waiter tell someone "the barista is very backed up". We sat for another few minutes and then decided (still without a waiter ever showing up) that we probably wanted to sit inside. Back to the hostess. Finally got her attention, she tells me they are overwhelmed. I saw many wait-staff running around. Which tells me, you have no idea how to run a business for a Sunday brunch. Anyway, the hostess says we'll have to wait another 20+ minutes for a table inside. Then a waiter tells another person in our party, no, he'll try and get us inside next to "skip the line". Which pisses off the other people, who are standing around frustrated. Finally, after sitting outside for over a half an hour, one of our party checks inside - where the noise and chaos are overwhelming. Combining the disorganization, "backed up" service, and chaos, I know this meal is doomed. At this point, nothing has been ordered, we haven't seen a waiter, and haven't actually been seated. So, after spending 45 absolutely pointless minutes wasting our time, we just said FORGET IT and left. We went over to Cheesecake Factory in mall, where it was calm and tranquil, gorgeous comfortable outdoor tables with shade, prompt service - and had a very enjoyable meal. Came here yesterday for lunch with colleagues. I go to the one in Manalapan a lot so was hoping for the same great service/food. Food was great -ordered the Wilbur skillet sunny side up eggs. Potatoes were crunchy, eggs runny just the way i like it. The food came out quick also. However, my friend asked for a side of balsamic for her sandwich 2x and the waitress forgot it. We also ordered a jersey club to go and they forgot the turkey on it. Not sure if I will come back. To see they barely cleaned the table and seats, during this time in our world with COVID, is extremely concerning. The food quality has also declined. We won't be back. I recently came here with my friend on a Saturday morning. We had just finished working out - so you can imagine how hungry we were. I had previously eaten at their Cherry Hill location (I loved it), so I expected the same experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I ordered the White Peach Iced Tea and was disappointed because it tasted just like regular water. However, I let this slide thinking that it was just a one time occurrence. I then ordered the Pesto Infusion Skillet & my friend ordered the Garden Frittata. When the food came out I was very impressed by the Garden Frittata. It looked appetizing & had a nice big side of fruits. I wish I could say the same about my Pesto Infusion Skillet. Not only was my food poorly plated and lukewarm, but my some of my fruits didn't look fresh. Again, I let this slide. Now here is the part I was most disappointed about. While eating my food, I noticed I had a medium sized portion of food left, but ran out of the English muffin. Therefore I politely asked the waiter if I could have another English muffin. I waited at least 10 minutes before actually receiving my additional English muffin (keep in mind, by the time I received it...I was nearly finished with my meal - had I known it would take that long, I wouldn't have bothered asking). Here is the real kicker, when our bill came I was charged $1.25 for that 1 additional English muffin that I waited 10 minutes for! I could have bought a 6 count of English muffins for $3 at the grocery store nearby. At this point I just wanted to pay & leave. I love the turning point, and despite the fact that they do not take reservation and you may end up waiting up to an hour to be seated, the food and service are incredible. After giving your name and size of party to the staff, there is limited seating space in the front of the restaurant to wait to be given a table, with complimentary coffee (which is excellent by the way). The waiters are very courteous and take the time to give you suggestions about the menu. This time I ordered the OMG French toast, and I think it definitely lives up to the name! The combination of mascarpone cheese and walnuts on the French toast is a perfect balance. The portion is definitely big enough to share, but if you are hungry enough you can finish it by yourself. My staple coffee to order every time I go is the French press Kona coffee! (Which is definitely enough to share among two people). It's incredible - believe me. read more

I had been to the Hoboken location and was somewhat unimpressed, so I figured I'd give the Princeton location a try. I came during lunch and it was crowded but we were seated and served right when we walked in. If I had to describe the decor of the place its homey and country-ish. Overall, very nice setting. One of my co workers ordered a salad and wanted grilled chicken added. For some reason they came out with a plate of cut grilled chicken, before they brought out any of the food. Had to clarify that the grilled chicken should be in the salad. I ordered a sandwich that came with chips and salsa. The sandwich wasn't bad, but was highly overpriced. Standard French toast, pancakes and eggs benedict type fare. I did like the choice of breakfast skillets and ordered an egg white eggs ranchero type skillet. However, the avocado listed was missing from my skillet. I told the waitress and she then brought me a small side plate of cold avocado. There seems to be a disconnect between the young servers and the customers. I do like their large selection of coffees and teas, including different French presses. I ordered a mocha, which came in a teapot with multiple servings and tasted more like a hot chocolate. I put my name on the list and since the wait was very long, I had to end up changing my party reservation from 2 to 4 people with the extra addition of the 2 being toddlers and was told I was unable to be accommodated. I ended up waiting an extra 30 minutes after I checked in. The sever and service was mediocre, and management was not accommodating and very passive aggressive. I work in a restaurant and I know management is supposed to accommodate guest by any means if possible. I will not return to this location. read more

Then we had the appetizer: Bacon Lollipops! Bacon, apple, and goodness!!! I had the chicken and waffles and she had some sort of zucchini pasta dish! A really good brunch option in the Princeton area. I really really want to love this place because the food and atmosphere are awesome. The menu is expensive yet every item feels like it was carefully prepared. I've visited three times and every item is delicious, the fruit is fresh, the coffee is flavorful. So why 3 stars? For one, every visit there is always a huge complication. We sat down two visits only to not be helped by a sever. The second visit took 28 minutes for someone to bring us water(yes... I timed it jokingly after our first experience..turns out, it wasn't an anomaly). After finally ordering, the food took forever to arrive. The waiter both time gave us chips and fruit to help ease the frustrations of waiting, but it really wasn't enough for waiting over an hour... Both times. This wasn't just the case for us, all three visits, we looked around and saw patrons unhappily waiting for their server or their food. They really don't accommodate the large seating area they provide which is a shame. The bathrooms are weird too. One is labeled M&W and the other is L. Assuming one is for men and women and the other just ladies? Kinda strange and always creates annoying bathroom banter. Overall, great food, the service is just questionable. read more

Wait times were upwards towards 45mins but my family and I were patient, since we heard such good reviews of this place. I got the cornbread french toast with pumpkin mascarpone and it was delicious. I came here a second time with my friend yesterday for brunch. We waited 30mins for a table, which was fine. Our server was super friendly and took our orders right away. Unfortunately, it took about another 30-40mins for our food to come out and we were getting a little irritable. Our waiter served us a complimentary fruit bowl for our wait being so long, which was a nice gesture. Our food was alright, definitely not as good as I remembered eating it the first time. We got the big easy benedict, and the pesto infused egg white dish. Once the food came, we noticed 1. our hollandaise sauce wasn't emulsified at all, which I found weird because I've never seen it come like that and 2. that it wasn't the chipotle hollandaise sauce that the menu said the dish came with. We asked if we could get another batch and the 2nd batch looked exactly the same as well. Our waiter apologized profusely and said that's the way the sauce was coming from the chefs. After whisking it aggressively, i was able to emulsify it so it was fine. The wait staff here definitely gets 5 stars, but i'm inclined to give 3 stars based on my last experience. My husband and I have eaten frequently at Turning Point in Princeton over the years . We had always enjoyed the experience. It had been some time since our last visit and although there was a 35 minute wait, we really looked forward to the Popeye skillet. You no longer offer it on the menu. I ordered poach eggs, hash browns, toast and coffee. The eggs were uncooked and cold and in fact I was quite disgusted by the presentation. The hash browns and the one piece of toast were also cold. The coffee we requested was not available. They ran out of it. Obviously no quality control at Turning Point any longer. The waiter barely stopped to take our order. He just ran around looking very busy. We were never asked if we needed anything. At the time we were called to our table, it was not busy. I have never had a more terrible meal and eating experience anywhere. I asked that the eggs be taken off the bill which led us to the manager who was extremely condescending and totally disinterested. We would have much rather pay the bill and enjoyed the meal. The coffee bar here has a wide variety and always come out delicious. For the record, they have the best chi tea I've ever had! Order the iced chai cafe and you'll thank me! The ingredients for the food are consistently fresh and food is always amazing. It's busy here all the time and all the staff are always hustling. You can have the prettiest and/ or tastiest food in the world, but what really brings people back to the restaurant is the people working there and man did the service suck. We called ahead to check if the place was busy and put our name down. When we got there the place wasn't packed because it was a weekday. At the front, we were asked multiple times if we'd been helped, which sure seems nice but really just represented the lack of communication that was going on between the workers. We were seated in the back corner which may have been why we seemed to be repeatedly forgotten about. We wanted to split the check between four people, which I completely understand isn't the most ideal situation (I work in food services too). We tried to to talk to our waitress to do whatever was easier for her. But when we eventually tracked her down (yes, got up to look for her) she rudely told us we'd made a mistake and had to fix it.... we did then tracked her down again... It took us over 30 minutes to pay. Not only did we have extreme difficulty paying the bill, but we asked for a to go box three times (to different people) and still didn't get one. I transferred my friends food to a smaller plate and was ready to walk out with it. Since we were still waiting for our cards back, I made one last attempt. One of the workers (who'd I previously asked for a box from) was behind he bar and looking at me warily as I intensely got out of my seat to get a woman's attention. Even though I was extremely friendly to her and she was oblivious to the situation, the guy watching me knew I was pissed off. Interesting enough, after that the staff was so very kind and courteous to us, but quality service should be provided at the beginning, middle and end of a guest's experience. But you have to go early, or else they sell out, which is fine because that means you know it is fresh! You can have your own french press coffee. Good and strong espresso lattes. But above all, you should try one of their smoothies. If you are a fan of mocha lattes, try the Chocolate Chip Shake-a-chino. I was a fan. There are always available parking since it is in a shopping plaza. Plus side, outdoor seating is available. You don't have the greatest view, but I am always a fan of eating outside. After a monthly Costco run, my husband and I finally got around to trying the Turning Point, and we were beyond impressed. We didn't know about the waitlist, so we gave a name and number and after my hubby grabbed a free cup of hazelnut coffee, we went for a walk around Mercer Mall. Once our table was available, we were seated and started looking over the menu. Our server was awesome, attentive (though he looked pretty busy), and even gave us some helpful info about the menu. I got the avocado toast and a side of chicken sausage, and my husband went for the low country shrimp hash bowl and a cup of turkey chili. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I went for the frozen hot chocolate and found it perfect for a warm summer day. My husband got his own French press of Jamaican blue, and loved everything from the coffee to the timer attached to the press. Our waiter brought out the turkey chili and a complimentary fruit cup for me, and shortly thereafter our main dishes arrived. The chili was thick, and tasty (served with tortilla chips, which added a nice touch of salt), and my fresh cut fruit was a sweet and delicious surprise. I cut up my chicken sausage, added it to my avocado toast, and loved every bite. Our waiter had said he would bring out extra gravy for the shrimp bowl, which he did, and my husband may have fallen in love with that gravy. There've been some hits, and a few misses, but overall it's a solid brunch spot in the Princeton area with a selection wide enough to please most palates.
