This food trucks is located in a nice spot close to South Lamar with several benches and open seating area. Food is served in to-go containers. Both falafel plate and chicken shawarma plates were served with side salad and flavorful saffron rice. The mains were freshly made and served warm.

I stopped by TX Shawarma while in Austin and tried the chicken shawarma plate. It was pretty good, but I didn't think it was super flavorful. Pretty decent portion size. Nice staff!

I tried this truck once and it was phenomenal. The mix shawarma plate was really good. The gyro meat was succulent and seasoned to middle eastern perfection while the chicken shawarma was also juicy and slightly charred which enhanced the experience. The rice was perfect and if you don't like the salad well my friend you need your head checked! Most have tried a Gyro before and this ranks up there with the best. The lamb was perfectly seasoned, the pita soft and pillowy while the cold crispy lettuce, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce hit all the required notes. As for traditional sides the hummus was tasty and not dry as chic peas can be if not careful. I opted to try the Dolma stuffed grape leaves (stuffed with rice) and reminds me of some of the best Greek Dolmas I've ever had. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you want to be adventurous and experience Greek/middle eastern food. If you are experienced look no further to curb your fix! Bravo!

We were passing through Austin and decided to stop and try TX Shawarma and it did not disappoint. We tried the gyro wrap, gyro salad and the chicken shawarma plate and all of them were amazing! The service was friendly and fast and the portions were generous! My kids loved their meals too and asked to come back again. We'll be sure to come back next time we're in the area.

I'm in Austin for business from So-Cal. Came across this food truck heading into the city. I enjoy Mediterranean food so I decided to give it a GO! I decided on the Gyro Plate and oh Boy, this was a great choice. It had everything from meat, rice and salad. The meat was perfectly seasoned, sauce and rice were perfect in balanced flavor... not too salty. And the salad was fresh, crispy and light. Perfect balance in my opinion. Real happy I stopped in. It was awesome!

I had been meaning to check out this food cart area since I moved here and finally did. I was a bit surprised to only see three carts so that was disappointing but we knew what we were coming for so it didn't make much of a difference. Anyway, we were also surprised to see that this place's dishes were all under $8! What a deal! I got the shawarma salad, and we also got the dolma and hummus on the side, which each came with some pita. The salad was more meat than salad, and a movie of it, and while tasty wasn't really what I was hoping for or expecting. The meat was a bit salty and I really was hoping it would be more salad. In any case it's a great deal and very tasty just be aware that if you're trying to be healthy and eat something light even the salad isn't really the way to go

Lunch is SO affordable. Like $8 per person for their plates. I love their falafels. They're delicious, perfectly moist in the middle, tasty and flavorful, and surrounded with a crispy outer shell of goodness. Veggie eaters rejoice! I ordered the falafel plate and it was so yummy. The saffron rice is DELISH and I love that my plate also came with lettuce, tomato and cucumbers. The weird part for me was the pickles. I'm not opposed to pickles, but the pickled flavor was a bit off for my plate. The portion size is great for lunch. I saved mine and I basically had a late night snack later that day. It's a solid spot where you can expect to be full and flavored up. However, it doesn't beat some other falafel I've had from spots like TKS up north and Bay Area falafel in CA. They're located in the same location as other food trucks like Manoli's ice cream (YUM. They have soursop here...I mean c'mon!!) and another truck. It's basically outside picnic table seating, so it's great for groups, date night, dogs and kids! Come one come all, basically.

Really EXCELLENT Mediterranean food. The Lamb Gyros were sweet, moist and substantial in weight. The falafel was freshly fried (crunchy) and not reheated presentments as I generally have seen. I only have a few days in Austin and I am having to squyin another meal!!!! read more

The gyro shawarma wrap was DEFINITELY the best I've had in Austin, hands down. Since I tried this heavenly gyro, I am (ridiculously) craving it daily. It is seasoned perfectly; and all of the meat is perfectly crispy on the outside. I rarely review anything, but I am shocked that they don't have more reviews on Yelp. The ratio of meat to veggies is just right, and they don't scrimp on the meat as some places do... I hate a kebab or gyro that is basically pita drenched in sauce, but this is not the case at TX Shawarma- they do it right! They are priced right, so you should have plenty of $ to tip and help to keep the Austin food service industry alive and thriving! read more

We order from TX Shawarma at least twice a week. We love love love the mixed plate shawarma and fries. I have recommended this place to at least 50 people by now lol. I also like their Falafel. One constructive criticism for them would be that sometimes the quantity of food can vary. This can be fixed. When you get this food pretty regularly, it can throw you off a bit. Rest, everything is great. Get your food from here and you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is just the best! We fell upon it through yelp and it's hands down the best middle eastern food I have ever had. The fries with the sauce are just heaven and every type of meat is flavoured well. We had the chicken, beef and gyro. The falafels are also perfectly crisp and seasoned and great pita and hummus and dolmas. Honestly what's not to like? This is my second time visiting in the past month and I'll continue to recommend it to everyone I know. I love their garlic and hot sauce so make sure to order extra. Worth every penny read more

This place is great for a cheap and quick lunch that's delicious yet not horribly greasy that will leave you feeling better than if you had gone with something like McDonald's. I love this Mediterranean food. When I'm having a hankering, I always want this. I get the chicken shawarma plate and and a salad and share with someone because mixing the lettuce, rice, chicken and veggies is just soooo good. Please try this if you like Mediterranean food. read more

This place without a doubt makes the best gyro's out there. I stopped by after the gym and (due to my hangryness) started eating my gyro and I couldn't stop because of how delicious it was. I sadly ate the entire gyro before getting home. I don't even like Mediterranean/Greek food that much; but I 100% will be back within the week. For that matter - I will probably start coming to TX Shawarma religiously from here on out. #NoShameInMyShawarmaGame read more

This place was so good! Even though my GrubHub driver was 45 minutes late, it was still delish! I would say that the gyro combo felt complete and like an okay deal for $11 but I paid $6 for pita and hummus...there was one pita and a thing of hummus. I think some more pita would be awesome and have made this place worth all 5 stars! read more

Honestly this place is FIRE. Things I love about TX shawarma: 1) they're fast! Food is always ready in about 5-10 minutes 2) they're good about answering the phone for pick up orders 3) food tastes amazing. I especially like how the chicken is tasty and it's not super greasy like other places. The rice is delicious, and the salad is always fresh. This is my favorite place to pick up food from on my way home or when I don't feel like cooking. Super quick, and way way better than getting any fast food! 10/10. read more

I only tried their shawarma, and can't speak for the rest of their offerings, but since the friendly guy who mans this operation recommended the Lamb & Chicken shawarma as their best, or one of their best, dishes, I can base my review on this serving alone. The bottom line is this: it's ok, but nothing special at all. Coming from Brooklyn, this level of shawarma can be found in any pedestrian shawarma stand, and that ~obviously~ pales in comparison to any street shawarma stand in the Middle East. TX Shawarma is nothing special, and nothing memorable. As a consumer, I doubt I would return. There are a scant few shawarmas that I've had over the years that really stand out, and Tx Shawarma isn't one of them, by a long shot. I can't say it's bad, but it's certainly not great in any way. In short, if you've never had the real deal, you might think that Tx Shawarma is good ~ as an "exotic" food you haven't tried before. But if you know shawarma, especially if you had really good shawarma in the Middle East, you know that this is establishment is pretty mediocre. The food isn't horrible, it's just ok. read more

Visited Bahrain over 10 hrs ago and since have craved a shawarma as close to this. Found the food truck unexpectedly as I was wandering aimlessly looking for dinner. There is a proliferation of Mediterranean food trucks in this area, within a few blocks of each other. We've tried them all and this one's our favorite. We have only gotten the Shawarma wraps/gyros - chicken and lamb - and for the $6 trailer price (more expensive if you call your order in ahead of time) they are delicious. The falafel order is pricey, since they're tiny and only 6 of them for $5 (I think - typing from memory here) and we know how cheap they are to make. Don't hesitate to just go and order in person, saving a couple of bucks on each wrap. They're fast and the food comes out piping hot. We live nearby so we just take our food home, even though the picnic tables are nice and there are dessert trucks there also. read more

Five stars! My mom and I shared the chicken plate and it didn't disappoint. We couldn't even finish the plate. The guy gave us a generous amount of rice and chicken, which is surprising because most food trucks I know fuck you over with the sides..... anyways- The chicken was juicy and seasoned well, the rice was perfectly cooked. Overall it was a great meal for a great price. Will come back here cause apparently the gyro is bomb. read more

Next note- I feel like this is a low key meet up spot. Like the way they tried to make the first train cars on the MTA the singles car? This is one of my go to when it comes to food trucks in Austin. I love that They have ample free…read moreparking. Right now they have seven trucks which are usually open at the same time. It's pretty well lit and they play good music (old school). The only thing I would say is they need to work on updating the heaters and bathrooms. Although they're locked, I feel like they need more care and the hot water doesn't work. I tried 4 (Habibi, Tacos, Pete's Cajun Seafood, and Coat & Thai) out of the 7 trucks and all of the food was delicious!

Compared to the weekends, their schedule was a lot more open. On the weekends it can be nearly impossible to get a spot unless it's a few weeks in advance. We had a reservation at 8 am right when they opened, and when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The place looks like a modern twist on the old-school diners your grandparents love. There's also an upstairs and downstairs patio. Plenty of space! We were sat at one of the two-person tables. To start, I ordered their house drip coffee while my girlfriend got their "Lil Remi," an iced cappuccino with salted caramel. The black coffee was excellent and flavorful, while my girlfriend thought her Lil Remi was like a milkier shaken espresso that she really liked. From their starters, we ordered their Blueberry Lemon Pop Tart to share. I am a sucker for a homemade Pop Tart, and the jam on the inside was extremely fresh, and the icing and crust of the Pop Tart itself was sturdy and full of flavor. For our entrees, I ordered their Texas Hash with added avocado while my girlfriend ordered their famous Paperboy Pancake with chocolate chips as a full breakfast with bacon and two over-hard eggs. It wasn't a long wait at all to get our food. The Texas hash looked great and was presented quite nicely, which is a shame because I immediately proceeded to mash it all together to make sure every bite had a perfect balance of the roasted pork, sweet potatoes, egg, and avocado. It was very filling and substantial, which is great because I needed it to last me up to dinner. The pancake is the star of the show and is worth the order alone. The flying saucer they serve rises like a cake in the oven and is extremely fluffy. She was surprised with how it was a traditional pancake but loved how moist it was for its size. A perfect pancake to her. A perfect pancake to me because she couldn't finish it, so I took it to go and ate the last few bites immediately after dropping her off at the airport. For being an upscale diner in the prime area of Austin, I knew Paperboy was going to be pricey, but I honestly thought that it would crack $100 before tip between the two of us. I was very happy to see it was not even close to that and cost us about $80 with tip. To me, that felt fair for Austin, and I would pay that price any day of the week for a breakfast like we had. I've had a few of the locally owned brunch and breakfast spots in Austin and concur with the masses that this sits strongly at the top of the list. Best pancakes, best atmosphere, and the best times. I ordered takeout from TX Shawarma Food Truck and overall had a really good experience. I got the shawarma and fries, with the sauce on the side. The shawarma was flavorful, fresh, and still hot by the time I got home. The order was ready in less than 15 minutes, which was great. The fries were the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. They were a bit overcooked, but the chili sauce they included was really good and helped balance everything out. They also provided ketchup for the fries, which I appreciated. Absolutely game changing food. The service was fast, the owner Mohamed made sure me and my gf's orders were perfectly customized and he made us feel great about everything we ordered.
