What really sets this place apart is the space--it has its own building and parking lot, which already makes it easier than most spots in the area that are tucked into strip malls. The interior feels very modern and thoughtfully designed, almost like an installation-style café. It reminded me a bit of Nudake in Korea, but more playful, with interactive elements like a photo booth. Drinks were solid across the board. The camellia oolong was very fragrant and flavorful, and the matcha latte was as good as what you'd expect from a matcha-focused café. Ordering is easy through their app, and you can earn points while skipping the line. I also liked that they're eco-conscious--there's a sign saying they'll plant one tree for every 1,000 cups sold. Service was excellent. Staff were friendly, constantly cleaning, and they even had someone dedicated just to handing out drinks, which kept things moving smoothly. There was so much hype about this spot that my BFF and I came to check it out. The parking lot was so crowded. It was such a hassle getting in and out. The inside looked interesting. A lot of space and lounge seating against the walls. Almost everything on the menu had dairy in it and the cashier said they don't recommend modifying because "the quality of the drink may be affected". All the ads and hype were around matcha and I'm allergic to dairy. I asked if they can just make me a regular matcha latte with oat milk. Thankfully they don't charge for milk substitutions. The cashier said they don't have matcha latte, and I have to go with the Next Level Matcha Latte without the dairy based foam. She checked in with the other staff and said they use "high quality" matcha powder that doesn't have milk powder in them. I looked at the baristas and it looks like they rely on machines for their drinks instead of having the baristas whisk the matcha . I was not a fan of this drink. My BFF had their Camellia Oolong Milk Tea and thought it was okay. They gave away bags that were not durable but it's an insulated bag with a Velcro seal. I felt the bag was so wasteful . I think they should ask for if customers even want the bag. There was a pile of them just at the trash cans and all over the floor. There's bathrooms in the back. Not a fan of this place. It's criminal how GUIJI has a better ranking than this place. UG has a very strong jasmine milk tea that I always get. It's so good. Usually I dislike milk teas because they are so milky with no Tea flavor but UG is different. The drink has STRONG tea flavors to it. So much better than the watery and expensive GUJI. I highly recommend this place for people that are looking for a strong and fragrant milk tea. My go-to sugar level is always in the low 10%. But the 30% is also good too. I'm here for the TEA not the sugar lmao. However, I do not recommend their matcha drinks. I would suggest going someplace else like Airoma for that. read more

saw this tea shop open on instagram so my friend and i decided to check it out - the parking was already full around 2 PM but luckily we got a spot right when we arrived since someone was leaving - loved the green interior (one of my fav colors!) , it was spacious & there was several photo areas - the next level matcha latte (4.4/5) was rich in the matcha flavor and it wasn't too sweet at 70% sugar. the 15 jasmine matcha creme latte (4.2/5) had a cheese type of aftertaste at the end which we weren't a big fan of but the jasmine was strong on taste - it took around 30 mins to get our drinks. the service could've been better. when we arrived, we waited 5-10 mins to order. when it was our turn, the cashier told us to wait and we were left waiting for another 5 mins. we understand that there is a lot of orders to fulfill but there was a line of people waiting to order behind us. they did give us a sample of one of their drinks to try which was nice. this was a nice to aesthetic place to try out! read more

Soft opening initially started off well, but started to turn disastrous. Kind of feel disappointed. My husband and I came here at 10:30 AM thinking the line would be crazy, but it didn't form until 10:45 AM. The store opened at 11 AM and were the first few in line at the front. We were all welcomed in and ordered several drinks. I got both the next level matcha and the jasmine milk tea. My husband also got the jasmine milk tea and also the camelia oolong milk tea. Got a free large canvas tote for soft opening which was nice. Everything seemed smooth until the tickets were entered in the system. The orders did not get completed in chronological order, they were all over the place. Like I don't know what they did to mix up all the tickets when they entered into the system so even if you were the first few to order your drinks, it would take 25 to 30 min to receive it and some people who ordered after you got their drinks first. Then when we left and were in our cars and tried to look up their lip balm product on the tan yuan delivery app, they knocked on our window to ask us to move our parked vehicle where we parked in that parking spot first. It just felt rude and unwelcoming as customers. I understand they were setting up for their pickup event for people who preordered, but the staff should have gotten this all set up and prepared prior to opening hours. The other aspect is inside as nice as it was decorated and spacious , it had absolutely no tables or places to even sit down, which is rather disappointing as well. Now to the drinks they were good or fine around $7-$8 per drink, but no matter how good the drinks are I cannot support an establishment that acts unprofessional and lacks good customer service or operational efficiency. Seeing all the instagrams post and videos, I was enthusiastic about their soft opening and to try out their drinks, but left more disappointed. Imagine tea shop meets Instagram pop-up art gallery. That's the vibe I got when I first stepped into 626's newest boba shop from Taiwan (remember when they said we've reached saturation 15 years ago?). UG Tea stands for Unique Green Tea. I arrived quarter to 11am for their last day of soft opening where they gave away free tote bags for the first 50 customers, was maybe 15th in line, but was the 38th order already with the mobile app orders (more on that later). I got a large osmanthus oolong milk tea; I loved that there were free fresh milk or oat milk alternative options, although I went with the default "UG special milk" as I always do for my first time anywhere so I can judge the drink for how they intended it to taste. The cashier Kristy was friendly and asked if I wished to sign up for their rewards membership and get 50% off their signature camellia oolong milk tea, which I opted to save for my next visit. After waiting about 30 minutes my drink was finally ready in a nice reusable drink carry bag. The osmanthus oolong milk tea was not as fragrant as I expected and a little watered down even though I ordered it with less ice. While waiting, a worker also handed out samples of the camellia oolong milk tea, which was slightly bolder but also did not wow me. The store was spacious, with a giant silver egg-like sculpture in the middle, designed for social media aesthetics. There were shopping baskets and carts like a grocery store for some reason, likely photo opps. There was even one of the viral Genic photo booths that have been appearing in various viral tea shops in the Los Angeles area. Plenty of faux grass texture-lined seating run along the wall but there are no tables if you choose to hang out in the store. Upon leaving, Fantuan had set up a table outside to handle mobile app order pickups from their platform, which is separate from UG Tea's own app. Fantuan was also giving away UG Tea tote bags and lip balms beyond the soft opening period. I would definitely recommend ordering ahead on either app to avoid the long wait, but I did not compare prices though the store app allows you to accumulate reward points. In the end, the tea drinks here left more to be desired, so I still prefer its closest competitor down the street Molly Tea (they even print on the same drink labels) for stronger, more aromatic tea. UG Tea's location with its own large parking lot makes picking up drinks more convenient. I'm glad UG Tea is open in San Gabriel, because any time we have more options, it is a good thing. read more

I loved UG when we went to Taiwan and this US branch (which is company owned, not franchised), was equally tasty! The staff are super friendly and warm, and the space is HUGE! So much seating space. Also I have to give special acknowledgement that the price is still reasonable !! Some other boba places are $8+ (uhhhh what???) but these drinks are all still under $7 for even the most complex drink! Thank the Lord. We ordered the matcha cookie smoothie which reminded me of the OG Starbucks Java chip Frappuccino (IYKYK) because of the small cookie pieces blended into the smoothie!
