Extremely disappointing experience. We had a large group, but made a reservation in advance to ensure we would have room. Despite having the entire family present and on time to the reservation, it took us nearly 20 minutes to get seated at a table that was outdoors and extremely cramped. Throughout our dinner, I repeatedly had to move my chair around to let customers and servers through. The table side guacamole we ordered was unseasoned, so I had to ask the server for limes and salt to do it myself. The chips that came with it were stale. For some reason, our drinks came with straws that weren't tall enough for the cup, which rendered them useless. The worst part about the food was the entrées. The fish tacos had a strange off flavor, as if they were cooked in a melting plastic bag. The steak street tacos tasted okay, but arrived at room temperature. Good evening, it's is not often that I take the time To write reviews but I am very disappointed in the way I was treated at Uncle Julio's tonight. I went in to get a Steak fajita and that's what I ordered (steak only). The chicken always has a burned taste to It in my opinion. When I noticed my fajita was chicken (as opposed to the steak), I asked if I could get a discount on the order and it became a big issue. After thirty min of waiting, Evan (the general manager) gave me a percentage off the ticket but he Had a terrible attitude about it and just stormed away. No one was polite to me. I felt like they didn't value me as a customer. I will not return. The food was disappointing but more importantly, the customer service was very poor! And sadly, I hope It wasn't a racial situation. Haven't been to UJ in at least 5 years because I didn't think it was great the last time I went. It hasn't gotten any better. Food wasn't very good and service not great either. Waitress was nice, but when she brought my husband a warm beer and he told her it was warm, she offered to bring a cold glass instead of an actual cold beer. Uncle Julio's has traditionally been very good. However, it's different now. When we were seated, the floor was dirty with chip crumbs, and the booth showed wear. Our tableside guac was very good, but other than that we were disappointed. We asked for chip refills that didn't come, salsa refills that didn't come, rice that didn't come, and a diet coke that took a long time due to "we ran out of clean glasses". The food was subpar at best; to make matters worse, I got food poisoning from something I ate there. That truly is the worst. Friday night 9/26/25 @7:50pm. I sat at the corner of the bar with 2 other people. We each ordered a drink, a caso for app, and we each ordered fajitas. Drinks came, caso came. We sat there for 1 hr (not even joking, 1 hr.) Kid at the bar with short darkish black/brown hair, forearm tattoos, and baggy jeans takes our order. We each ordered fajitas. Time goes by. We get another drink. (There were only 2 other people at the bar). He tried to bring us our check. We said he hadn't got our food yet. He said okay. He came by 10 mins later and asked if we wanted any food. We said we ordered already and he said okay. About 5 mins later i called him over and say "hey, did you put our order in?" He said what did you guys order, i dont remember taking your order. Lol. Paid for our drinks/caso and wrote "PAY ATTENTION" on the check and he had the audacity to say "hey i dont appreciate you writing on the check" and the proceeded to try and tell me he forgot because "it was busy." But the restaurant wasn't even half full! We went back and forth a little more and kid kept giving us lip. Crazy. Terrible customer service. Terrible experience. I'd stay away from this place until they make some changes. First time here. Beautiful interior in a nice shopping center. First impression with service was not good. Walked in at 3:30pm and there were a ton of tables and booths open. Nevertheless we were told it's a 15 minute wait because of a transition in servers. Got to our table and the waiter was nice. Ordered the queso dip appetizer - It was not good. I would say that they have one of the best margaritas in Nashville, all the ingredients are fresh- try the grapefruit margarita. Another favorite is their piñata dessert, if you have never done it then you must go ASAP. It is truly an experience with great food and drinks. The down fall is that they do no do "call aheads" or have any type of app that gets your name on the list. Here you have to physically come in and put your name down, and the wait can be from 30 minutes to hours, especially on the weekends. Great food and drinks! This was my second time going to this Brentwood location and it did not disappoint. Atmosphere: Loud & pretty casual. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor as well as a full bar. Side note - they do have heaters outside if it's chilly out. Drinks: Their margaritas and mojitos are made frozen and taste so fresh! I had the strawberry margarita, my friend and uncle had the el jefe and my aunt has some sort of margarita/sangria swirl. If you like something sweet I would definitely recommend the margarita or the sangria, but if you want something with a kick I would suggest the el jefe. They also leave you the shaker after they pour you your first glass so you're basically getting a two for one. Food: Believe it or not there are some great Vegan dishes! The staff is very accommodating if you have requests or questions. I didn't have anything vegan, but I honestly though their chicken quesadilla was one of the best I've ever had. Extremely flavorful. Also be ready to eat basket after basket of chips and salsa. Their salsa almost has a smoked flavor and their chips are light as air. Oh and if you love guacamole - get their table side guac. I am giving this two stars because our server was extremely nice but the overall experience MINUS the server was ridiculous. We came in at 12:15 for a party of 3. We made a reservation earlier and we're sat immediately. We noticed that a margarita was priced differently on separate menus, no big deal but once ordered took almost 30 minutes to receive. Once it came out we noticed the pineapple used as the garnish looked like it had been sitting in a cambro for days and one side was completely soft while the other side was hard as a rock. Also..The timely manner on this would be understandable if they were even semi busy. I remember before Covid this place was always packed. Especially on Sundays. We ordered 2 appetizers. One as a meal and the yellow Queso for the table. I ordered the fish tacos and chicken tenders for my daughter. Once food arrived I bit into a taco and it tasted completely off. I had my husband try it as well. The fish was completely soured. Even the smell was rancid. I let our server know and she overly apologized. At the end of the day expired food is NOT the servers fault but IS the chefs entirely. We did have a manager come by our table and apologized. I did ask for the tacos to be taken off the tab which he did oblige. We went to Uncle Julio's to celebrate a birthday. We went on a rainy Monday night, so lucky for us, the restaurant was fairly empty and we were able to be seated without a reservation. In case you have never been, Uncle Julio's is a chain Mexican restaurant. You can tell that the recipes have been created by a corporate chef. Everything seems pretty cookie cutter. Our server was good. She was great in keeping our never-ending chips and salsa refreshed. We ordered the table-side guacamole which was fresh (obviously) and good. I ordered the Spicy Seared Ahi Tuna fajitas. Others at the table ordered fajitas, grilled fish tacos and nachos. For the price, you would think that the entrees would be a little larger. My entree was basically a salad with some tortillas on the side. The tuna was not spicy at all. The crema on the side was rather bland as well. Two entrees and two drinks was $70 after tax and tip. If the food was great, it would have been worth the price. But the food was just blah. One note - the restaurant needs to be cleaned. I sat underneath a wall sconce that had so much dust on it. I went in around 2 pm on a Saturday, and there were multiple people waiting in line to put their names on the list for a table, but there was no one at the host stand. We continued to stand in line for over 10 minutes. Multiple servers walked past, saw the growing line of people waiting to put their names down, and did nothing. After about 15 mins of waiting, I abandoned the line to go seek out a host myself. I found two hosts standing near the back of the restaurant and asked for their help. Similar to other reviews, the food was decent. I had the salmon and my husband had the carnitas tacos. We both thought they had a gamey taste. They had other things on the menu that I think would be better though such as the fajitas, so we'll definitely try again. The black beans were probably the best I've ever had though!! The first reason we'll try again is because of the great service and atmosphere. Our server was very kind, checked on us appropriately, great attitude, and we never felt forgotten about.
