The food here is delicious it's a taco place but more of a modern taco place their chips are definitely homemade or made in house they're very thin but they taste fresh and crisp and their tacos was good their meat is not over seasoned everything is really good maybe not a homemade Mexican place but a very good place if you want the taste of Mexican. read more

We had reservations for a party of 5 and were seated promptly to a high table. We were given chip right away without asking. Service went downhill from there. The only time our server came to the table was when we flagged him down which was difficult because he was rarely out from in back. We waited about 30 minutes after ordering and had to stop a different server for help get it. That server and our original server then brought our food. The food all appear like it had been sitting for awhile but it was hot. The steak and chicken in the fajita was cooked perfectly. The shrimp was burnt and stuck to the hot pan. A taco salad shell was not crisp and bent rather than snapped or cracked. The table prepared guacamole was very good but the preparer looked like he didn't want to be there. I made a reservation a week ago for a party of 5. We arrived on time and waited 20 minutes until we were seated while parties that came in after us without a reservation were seated first. Once seated, we waited 10 to 15 minutes before a server arrived to our table. After that, it took 10 minutes until chips were delivered to our table. Then another 5 to 7 minutes before the salsa came. We placed our order, and some of the food came out timely. However, the drinks we had ordered, still had not arrived and had to be requested. Additionally, the food, my daughter ordered was not brought to the table. We had to request that. Then, Only one part of her meal was brought out, followed by a five or so minute wait until the rest of her food was brought out. Additionally, one of the adult meals was to have come with beans. Black beans were specifically requested. The meal was served with no beans. At this point, we just decided to cut our losses because our server was all over the restaurant at different tables and not readily available. We were just ready to eat and leave. Overall, the food was subpar at best. The rice was not good. We had cilantro, rice, and Mexican rice. In both of these rice; some of the rice was hard, and some was soft. Overall; not appetizing at all. Our drinks were comped. However, we still accumulated a $70 bill for two adults and three children. My three children are still hungry. The likelihood of my returning is slim to none. It's disappointing to spend that much money and have a terrible experience. But it is compounded and even more disappointing because this was a birthday celebration for one of the adults. read more

Ordered 2 meals to go. The good: Guacamole is genuine and seems made on the spot. The bad: Guac was very bland. Needs more lime juice and a little more onion. The carnitas fajitas was - oof - sugary (American BBQ flavor, not Mexican) and was poorly prepped, with chunks of meat and peppers too large to stack well or in some cases even put into in the tortilla. Chicken fajita was similar with three large chicken strips only. Not enough shredded cheese for three tortillas each meal. The margaritas, frankly, were terrible - thick sweet cheap mix and no ice. Chips are very thin, taste almost as bland as rice flour chips and frequently break. Total with 15% tip: $99 !!! Never again. read more

May 5, 2020 --placed a pre-order at 12:20pm for pick up at 6;15pm since that is the only option during these trying times. I have done this twice in the past two weeks with no issue outside of a slight 5-7min wait. Upon arrival at 6:15, there were about 40 people waiting, after waiting in line for 15 minutes we were told by the Assistant General Manger its at least 45 minute wait which I questioned as other people waiting indicated they'd had a 5 pm pick up and have been waiting 1.5 hours. I've driven by this place for years and friends decided that we should try it. Honestly we should have kept driving by. Results: Service wasn't that great. 4 people at the table, 2 menus. Forgot things. Table dirty with plates. Pricey menu for what you get. The menu is basically what you'd find at a mall food court. It was bland and no character. No true authentic Mexican dish beyond Carne Asada. Typically tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc. full bar available. I had the steak bowl. I've had better frozen dinners from Publix. It was dry. Boring, bland, and no flavor. I doctored it with tons of salsa, guacamole, and sauces from other plates (it didn't come with it) and just settled. The best thing on the menu is a chocolate piñata ball filled with fruit and churros. It's 30 bucks but it's good for kids at a party. read more

It's a busy Sunday lunch hour for visiting Uncle Julio. He's in Brentwood's locally tolerated retail traffic center where reservations are always recommended. A last-minute reservation for two left only a few minutes waiting for a table. Not bad. Staff head count is low, but not too low. Parking can be challenging some days, but it's usually better than most of Nash Angeles. The pandemic has left unwelcome marks on restaurateurs, many to the point of lowering quality and and dropping signature dishes. Julio's downsized its original menu before it ever opened here. That seems little changed and has also managed to preserve original flavors (all without losing any of the trendy pricing enjoyed by the neighborhood!) The bar was overloaded (as usual) so cocktails took a bit longer than expected. The charred salsa is always good and the tortilla chips were paper thin goodness fresh from the deep fryer. My Tex-Mex standard cheese and onion enchiladas arrived as ordered then... just... disappeared. Huh. I'll have to chew on that mystery a little longer. The tacos were good. I'd also forgotten how much I enjoy the rice and Julio's charro beans.  Of course, your mileage may vary depending upon which style of Mexican cuisine you grew up with, staffing levels, traffic, or parking. (I don't even order or eat charro beans at other restaurants. Church.) read more

The food was very good. I had the fajita steak bowl and it was delicious. The restaurant wasn't too loud, which I appreciated. The only negative comment I have is that the waitresses did not wait until everyone was done eating to remove the plates. I find it rude and disruptive when waitresses decide to take plates away when some of the party members are still eating their meals. This is a common issue I see in restaurants in the USA. Have been to two Uncle Julio's locations in the Chicago area, and now the one in Nashville, which puts the others to shame. Clean. Clean!!!! Personable servers and staff. Good food, good drinks, bar is great; they have full bar and craft beers. Good bartenders *. No problem with special orders; change the sauce, lose the spice. Chunks of pork, chicken, and beef in the entrees. Great salsa, fresh chips, margaritas are excellent. Great location near Fresh Market, REI, The Rack and much more shopping. Today our server was Chloe, and she was stellar. We usually eat in the bar here bc the first visit here our server was meh, and the bar turned out to be full of friendly and very talented servers so we stuck with it. This time I was on crutches so we went back to the dining room (lots of different areas so you always feel like you're in the middle of things, but still have privacy). Chloe was friendly, full of good info and recommendations, and also pretty sharp with the witty repartee. I can't have spice or salt, my mom is 89 and deaf, and my sister practically whispers, so not the easiest table. Lots of questions. Somehow, Chloe made an impression on all of us! She carries some serious good feels around with her. Really liked her, and will be asking for her on the next visit. *4 stars only bc the bartender today put a salt rim and then wiped the salt off my no-salt margarita instead of making a new one. Usually most ppl (including yours truly ) let it go if it's not extremely noticeable (we can tell, people!!) but 1) I have high blood pressure, and 2) it was an upgraded margarita bc it was my first time out after surgery and I wanted a really nice margarita. A 16$ margarita and they wipe the salt off? That doesn't work and you know it!!!! Come on, man. Fix your mistake the right way. That said, they remade the marg with np and it was great. I couldn't even taste the spit! Jk!!!! I joke. I drank the whole thing bc it was perfect. All in all, I know it's a chain, but good Mexican is not so easy to find in Nashville if you want more than great tacos, and Uncle Julio's is really worth checking out. Go there. Go!!! read more

This used to be a great place to eat but it's really gone downhill. The tables weren't bussed, the ceviche came out with completely raw fish, the bathroom was gross, the margarita and Paloma had no flavor to them, they had no soda available...disappointing all around. I had a horrible experience at this place last night. We were sitting at the bar & asked for a menu after being there for about 10 minutes with no one to great us. There was a black guy at the bar who was rude to us and started to take another customers order while also completely ignoring the fact that I had asked for a menu politely. He told me that " the other people were here before us so we have to wait" mind you the menus were right next to him and we were in arms reach of him to get a menu. About 7 more minutes go by and he tells his co worker to take care of use mind you we STILL never received menus almost 20 minutes later. The black guy was very rude us before we even interacted with him. I would never eat here again because of the horrible service. read more

Absolutely Delicious - is all I can say! The Spicy Chicken Ranch Quesadilla w/Spicy Grilled Chicken, Jalapeño Ranch, Black Beans, Roasted Corn, Pico de Gallo, Jack Cheese in a Jalapeño Tortilla. I was gonna take a picture of the whole quesadilla but my brother couldn't wait...lol he enjoyed it. The O.G. Quesadilla (Carne Asada Steak), Flour Tortilla, Chipotle Crema, Jack Cheese, Black Beans, Roasted Corn, Sautéed Peppers and Onions. I couldn't eat the whole thing in one sitting; I look forward to eating the other half for lunch. The Cholula Hot Sauce, Pico de Gallo and Jalapeño Ranch are all awesome dipping sauces, flavorful. Cant say I was very impressed; first of all, as a party of 7, we walked in to put our name on the list. There were plenty of tables when we arrived but were told it would be a 45 mi wait because all the tables were spoken for with reservations. We decided to wait by the bar and asked if we could just sit at a high top if there were tall enough high chairs for the baby. We were told those tables were reserved as well. We waited at that table until we were called anyways. We were able to sit outside and our server was quite aloof and unprepared for his shift. He had no idea what was going on and it took forever to get anything or even place an order. I decided on the vegetarian fajitas, which I could have sworn said something like $14 on the menu but the bill ended up charging $18. My husband got the beef Enchaladas and didn't even want to eat them. He said they were cold, soggy and flavorless. My fajitas were actually pretty small when they came out and everything was so full of oil, even the chips. The rice was drenched in oil and crispy like it had been sitting out for a really long time. The vegetables were also drenched in oil. Uncle Julio's is my Mexican food go-to! Quality ingredients, an open kitchen and endless margaritas to choose from make it a staple in this area. Okay well that sounds nice Sally but doesn't every Mexican restaur- INTERRUPTING CHOCOLATE PIÑATA. Now that I have your attention. Uncle Julio's is home to this whimsical, almighty chocolate bubble enclosed around baby churros, berries and cream. This is the result of a happy marriage between science and chocolate and I'm here for it all day. I also love their appetizer deal for queso and fresh guac. Both are melt in your mouth consistency and you get a generous helping of both at a delightful price. As far as entrees go I live and die by their beef and chicken enchiladas. Scene Uncle Julio's is pretty casual with its cool southwestern vibe and a mix of table and booth seating. Most of the patrons on the day we dined in were older and It appeared to be a very popular lunch spot. The bar is located in the front of the restaurant and offers a great place to grab a cocktail if you're table isn't ready. There really isn't much space to stand near the door so check in at the hostess stand and head over to the bar. I dined in around noon and this place is obviously a popular lunch spot. I would suggest making reservations for parties of 5 or more. Service Service although the young lady tried her best was less than stellar. She was good at refilling drinks but not as good with anticipating the needs of our party of nine. A number of my dining companions mentioned how long It was taking to get there food Food The food was good but not great. I ordered the grilled chicken, steak and enchiladas combo and It was pretty filling. The menu is your standard variety of Tex Mex. The highlight of the dinner was table side guacamole and the dessert piñata. Both were pleasant surprise and equally delicious. We went to Uncle Julio's for my birthday dinner and it was easily one of the best restaurant experiences we have had since moving to middle Tennessee. I made a reservation so we were seated immediately, our server was very attentive and our food came out quickly. We ordered the made to order guacamole and it was SO good. We ordered a skirt steak quesadilla and it was also really good. My fiancé ordered the carne asada and enchilada plate - both were really good. I was on business in Nashville, staying in the area, and decided to give Uncle Julio's a try. The restaurant was mostly occupied and the bar seemed bustling, so I took it as a good sign. I took a seat at the bar, was greeted fairly promptly, and ordered the mezcal margarita. I am not impressed with this rendition. It is fairly tasteless, honestly, with just barely a hint of the smokiness you expect from mezcal. For dinner, I had the house made guacamole and the premium quesadillas with chicken. The guacamole was pretty good, and worth having. The quesadillas were average, at best, small portioned, with tasteless chicken, and had me wishing I'd have gone elsewhere for dinner. I travel quite a bit, and have the opportunity to eat out a good bit. I give Uncle Julio a B on service, and overall, a D+ on food. read more

I've driven past this place a 100 times and never been to it. Finally got a chance to go and it was amazing! The chips were great! The food was amazing. I got the honey glazed chicken fajitas. Daughter had ground beef tacos but they were dripping with fat and oil. She barely ate half of one before giving up. Disgusting. Disappointing overall and definitely will not be back. read more
