Came to Dallas to celebrate the boo's bday and although we sadly did not have a reservation, we were able to snag a bar side table which eventually lead to one large enough for our party (Thanks Tomiko!) It was very packed and very loud but I was pleased with the tasty margaritas, steak fajitas and bacon wrapped shrimp! The guacamole, salsa and extra thin n crispy tortilla chips were also on point! The night started out great. Our waiter was great, but the food was not cooked as requested. My friend asked for well done on her steak nachos. They came out a bit pink. The waiter asked if that was ok. She said NO, but she'll try to eat it simply bc we were hungry AF and didn't want to wait any longer for food. After trying one she was disgusted by it and stopped eating them. There were only 6 chips to this Nacho to start with. She then offered me one to try, i did. Then the waiter came to check on us. She mentioned she didn't want them and he could send them back. Waiter comes back with our check and her food is still there. She asked if he was making her pay for them and he replied yes. She asked for a manager. Manager (y'all slender blk guy, i didn't get his name. Steve Urkel look alike) comes over and ask her did she tell the waiter about the food not being cooked to her satisfaction. She said yes. He asked if she ate any and she said she ate one & so did I. He said, he could only charge her 1/2 bc of that and walked off. He definitely didn't act like he wanted us to ever return with his approach of acting like it's her fault the food wasn't cooked the way she wanted it. It would be different if she cleared the whole plate. The waiter was really sweet and i felt he's a non confrontational guy as he didn't question the cook in the kitchen and simply asked her if her order ok in hopes she would say yes. Instead, he should have sent the order back when it wasn't cooked well done before even bringing it to our table. It was a learning experience for him and my friend. She will definitely send hers back the minute it's wrong whether starving or not. read more

I was not goint to write a bad review but after I read all the reviews and basically they say the same thing. That indicates that the management - while yes they will write an apology...they will not work to change the situation. We were there early 545pm and did not get our food until 645pm - even at that the whole order was not there. We asked for a side and it came 20 minutes after our main course came. the parking is also as all of the other reviews claims - the whole parking lot is valet. We dined in. There was a 15 min wait at 6pm on a Saturday night. Not sure why there's any demand for this "dining experience". Our order was wrong. The food was warm. Small portions all around. The margaritas tasted like they were made with a mixer from Walmart. The salsa has no taste. The queso was most likely made with velveta. The management allows for tables to go wild - it was so loud. The entire experience reminded me of chili's or even worse, cheddars. Uncle Julios was the spot 15 years ago. It's clear the ownership is banking on their fleeting reputation. My boyfriend and I went to this place just because I wanted the carne asada which is really good. The service was horrible on a Tuesday night which is not too busy. besides that, the server or Bartender was rude. Definitely not coming back! What a joke. I upgraded from the standard Jalisco platter with the filet mignon and was shocked to see when it arrived for $30 three slices of fajita beef, three slices of filet mignon, and three teeny shrimp. I called the manager and explained that I was shocked how small the portion was on this for the price and she was very cavalier and made no attempt to make good or rectify the situation explaining that they weigh the meat and it's ounces that you get for this particular platter. I don't know about you, but there are plenty of Tex-Mex places around this area, and for $30 I would expect a much larger portion, especially when my intention was to share this plate and now it's barely enough for one. Ordered a kid's meal (calorie deficit life) via Grubhub. The fajitas and tortillas were great tasting. The meal arrived with no condiments at all. No sauce, butter, cheese, or anything except sour cream I ordered. It did come with chips and salsa, beans, and rice. All tasted old. The rice was hard and the beans were just a no. This use to be our regular weekly spot however due to unprofessional management by their male manager and poor service by several of their wait staff (David) in particular. You would think in these trying times of Covid that staff would be more attentive to a party that spends a few hundred dollars every week.. Rough experience. We walked in and didn't get greeted for 10 minutes, while the manager was looking at us and went to find someone else to help us. Food=awful, drinks=awful, prices=awful. We didn't receive any of our rice or beans. Drinks took 20+ minutes. The manager on duty seemed like he was lost. Addison Julio's is better, I will not be returning nor do I recommend going here. We arrived here at 4 pm to meet friends for an early dinner. There were very few people in the place but it took quite a while for someone to come take our drink order. When we ordered our food it took a long time to come out which we discussed considering how they were not busy and appeared to have enough staff. When our food finally arrived, my enchiladas were as cold as if they had been put on the plate and not heated up at all. My cheese sauce and the hatch green chili sauce were congealed and very cold. I didn't tell the waiter about it for fear of what might happen to my food when it left my sight. This place is already over rated, then the Hispanic lady at the front door refused to get a manager for me. We went to the bar area to just have queso and drinks and noticed no one ever came to serve us. The guest next to us also had to go to the bar just to get drinks. Our experience was less than enthralling. I can't say there is anything particularly captivating about the atmosphere or ambience. We were seated and the waitress proceeded to drop our menu on the ground and then step on it as she tried to pick it up. When I opened my cloth napkin it was dirty. I grabbed another from a nearby table and in it was dirty silverware. The complimentary chips and salsa: the salsa was smoky but the chips were way too greasy (glistening with grease) so we could not really enjoy the above-average salsa. We started with a small order of guacamole ($5.99) and it tasted like it was out of a box that you buy at the store. Very ordinary. My margarita was ok but at $8.49 it was overpriced. Her glass of zinfandel was $9.99 which is rather ridiculous considering you can get a large bottle for $7.99 at a liquor store. The wife got the roasted vegetable tamales ($9.99) and they were the star of the dinner until she found a bug baked into the masa. I ordered nachos with skirt steak ($13.99) and they were ok but nothing special and at that price way overpriced. I would say that they were at the lower end of nachos I have had. By the end of the meal we could not wait to leave. I have no plans to return. Too bad, Uncle Julio used to be a really good, reliable place. read more

I enjoy coming here at least once when I am in town for solid Tex-Mex, great drinks, and attractive fun people. The Chambourge Margaritas and Queso are fantastic. This seems to be a very popular place with fun attractive local people. The Hot factor is high. The Margaritas are awesome. The Tex-Mex is solid. Great service! Reliable Free Valet Parking. I was here Tuesday night and had my favorite Pechuga de Pollo al jardine. My friend had some tribute to beef and pork platter (that is all he eats). I had one rib of his. It was fantastic, as was mine and the queso I ordered. I must add that the service was excellent as well. Real Real Good... This is The Original, First Uncle Julio's! I Finally Conquered it! After having dined at Uncle Julio's restaurants in Virginia, Maryland and Georgia for so many years for numerous times, and twice at Grapevine, TX location, I finally could come here yesterday (Mar 15) to their Lemmon Ave. location where it all started. As soon as I got inside, the friendly lady at the front welcomed me and I could not help asking her "This is the original and first Uncle Julio's isn't it?". The lady said "Yes" with a big smile. She took us to the very end of the room with the red wall and nice large framed pictures on the wall. Nice young man who looked like he was still in high school (but later found out that he had graduated from college already) was our server and he did a wonderful job. Thank you for listening to my story about how crazy I am about Uncle Julio's. Speaking of the food, I decided to have Grilled Fish Tacos and Combination Fajita from the lunch menu. Yah, that was two entrees but I had to try as much as possible at this original location. The chips and salsa were better than excellent. The Fish Tacos with grilled tilapia was very good but the fish needed a bit more seasoning I thought. The rice with cilantro and corn accompanied the fish tacos was perfect. My most favorite dish - Fajita al Carbon combination of chicken and beef - was cooked to perfection. Both chicken and beef were so tender and flavorful! The flan was wonderful as usual. What I really admire about Uncle Julio's is the consistent deliciousness at almost any location. They must have very good quality chef trainers. Oh how the mighty have fallen. This was at one time one of the best places hands down. Being once a regular here made this review much harder to post. First. The service. A huge change for the worse. Little things. I don't want to nitpick but this is the biggest change, our waitress was nice but she seemed focused on something else. Second. The food is still good but the details are what make a place shine. For example. A staple entree done correctly, the pechuga de pollo is normal served nicely scored with grill marks giving the chicken a grilled flavor, my chicken looked microwaved. Last. The overall ambiance. Come one Julio's update your rickety tables. Our table rocked back and forth. The adjoining table rocked so bad that it spilled the customers drinks. Yesterday I was just in the mood some Fajitas so my wife and I decided to head to Uncle Julio's. So we started with Chile con queso and we added beef. Wow! I honestly think Julio's had the best queso to go along with those great chips. Yum! We proceeded to order our entrée for the night so we decided to get the Chicken & Steak Fajita for 2. With refried bean and rice. We get our food and right out the bat you get that smell of onions and bell peppers with some juicy looking meats accompanied with some hand make tortillas can't get better than that. Food quality and cooked temperature on the steak was on point. Our server forgot to give us our guacamole and cheese side plate that come with our food. She was nowhere to be found, so we asked another server that was around there. I also do think they are a bit overpriced for there portions. I've had fajitas elsewhere but Julio's is one of my Favorites. Our server decided to come back at around 9:40pm and we placed an order for some Sopapillas for Dessert. Unfortunately she came back and said the kitchen was close for the night. I mean there was 20min left to close and maybe if she would have came to check on us earlier we could have gotten our dessert. Just when we thought everything was going well. We don't have an Uncle Julio's where I live so I didn't realize it was a chain restaurant. I don't remember which queso dip we ordered but it was scrap-the-bowl worthy and the chips were crisp and kept coming! For my main meal, I had the Shrimp Al Pastor which was good. I don't remember it because at that point, we had found out about the chocolate piñatas they have and we were looking forward to that! If you come here, you NEED to get the chocolate piñata! It's not only fun to break open, it's a delicious dessert! I usually don't like getting desserts at restaurants because they're too sweet. But this one was just right! Yummy fresh fruit that you could dip in different sauces. And the churros were delicious! I wish we had an Uncle Julio's near us just so that I could go there for the chocolate piñatas! read more

Then walk to the opposite end of building (hmm - that's odd), to enter TexMex heaven. Good fajitas, quesadilla's, and Carne Asada! (Sit at the bar if the wait for a table is too long.) Drinks are good; try the Swirl Margarita and a Mexican Mojito! I love Mojito's, but hate rum. Normally order a mojito with vodka, but the Mex has tequila - great for TexMex meal! read more

I came to visit Uncle Julio's on a recent business trip and enjoyed my meal quite a bit. I am on a quest to find the very best veggie fajitas I can, and Uncle Julio's in absolutly in the top 5. The veggie mix included squash, tomatoes, onions, and an entire grilled portabella mushroom cap. YUM! Standard (and delicious) sides of rice, beans, pico, torillas, and guacamole came on the side. Our waiter was fast and attentive, their chips and salsa was great, and their margaritas pack quite a punch! Uncle Julio's was a great end to my work week in Dallas with its quaint relaxed (tho busy) atmosphere. My only shock was the bill when it came, apparently adding the word "Fine" before Mexican Food adds a couple of bucks per item. But hey, why am I complaining? Work paid for everything.
