I really wanted to like the pizza here, since I'd seen some TikToks/Instagram reels about it and had put it on my Google Maps of places to try. I was in the area, and Unregular Pizza was just a few blocks away. The decor definitely gave it an old-school retro vibe, and there were also fake cherry blossoms (probably just for cherry blossom season). There was a good variety of pizzas to choose from, and it looked like plenty of hot pizzas were coming fresh out of the oven. I like how they also reheat the pizzas for you. There's standing room to dine in for about 6 people maximum, but it's a tight squeeze the line right behind you. I'd take the pizza to-go. The Burrapizza with pepperonis has a good flavor with the slightest heat to it (reminding me of the Hot Honey Pizza from Pizza Hut). However, the cold burrata didn't pair with the warm pizza as much as I hoped it would. Overall, it wasn't bad because the flavor was great, but it left me unsatisfied when I had entered with a pizza craving. It also left me feeling greasy/heavy, likely because there was a lot of dough but the dough wasn't the fluffy kind. The Chicken Out pizza tasted like a chicken pesto sandwich in pizza form. It had gotten a little cold by the time I got to it, and it didn't hit in the way cold pizzas typically do. The pizza was a little dry, since it didn't have a lot of sauce on it and barely had any mozzarella. I have been in love with this place since they first opened in union square. I mean, burrata on your pizza? It is amazing! The place is a little on the small side but they do have a table to eat. When you walk in you order your slice, into the oven it goes, walk down and pay, then your slice comes out. The burra pizza with pepperoni and that sweet hot honey sauce is my favorite. I swear I ate my pizza 5 minutes after I collected my take-out, but both the pizza and the garlic squares were lukewarm, or even cold... My experience didn't quite match up to the good reviews I heard/read about, but maybe I just got a bad slice? I got the unmushroom slice with a burrata. My slice was the last corner slice and it was already a little more charred on the edges but I didn't think too much about it at first. They were well seasoned in a nice herbaceous oil olive background. The burrata, on the other hand, was kinda hard. Because the pizza slice was not warm, the cold burrata didn't provide any contrast and if anything, made each bite more cold :(. As I was about to leave, I saw a new batch of unmushroom pizza with less charred and seemingly fluffier crust, so maybe my experience was just an outlier?? Staff were nice and prompt. As with other pizza places, they reheat your slice before serving and there are other self-serviced seasonings. I like how they have a wide range of pizza types, as well as vegan and gluten-free options! I appreciate how ingredients are listed in case of any allergies. Unregular Pizza is a really cool, retro pizza place! I visited this restaurant after seeing posts on Tik Tok. When you walk in, all of their items are on display on the counter and ready to be heated, packaged and sent with you, to go! I knew that I had to try the Fried Cacio e Pepe. It was creamy Cacio e Pepe, breaded and deep fried. It was surprisingly light and delicious and this was probably my favorite thing that I ordered! I also tried the Burrata Pizza. It was flavorful and refreshing with the burrata which is on each piece. Sadly, mine was missing the hot honey, but regardless it was amazing. Lastly I ordered the Chicken Out which had chicken, pesto, cherry tomatoes and mozzarella. I really enjoyed this fun, different pizza. The entire place has a retro, 80's theme. Seem'd to be doing pretty good till mid-afternoon, same day, when it took a turn for the worse. Though I had many slices to eat, I chewed and swallowed all. It was one of those picturesque slices you could see yourself eating in Rome, or any part of Italy for that matter. There are two mischievous pigeons, one on each side of me, waiting for crumbs or anything to fall. "This is not yours" - I told the birds as I slammed my lunch shut. The pigeons gradually dissipate as I continue eating. One of the slices is painfully messy. I go through napkin after napkin to ensure a more cleaner lunch. I go for another napkin repeatedly, half-strenuous all this time. Life ebbs, runs now with the speed of a mill race; my splendid slices are all open, working slightly; my eyes turn back to the food. A tourist coming in offers some help, in subdued tones, bent at the foot of a park bench, and in the space of the sidewalk, a crowd, including two or three residents, several students, and many others has silently gather'd. The slices are very still and warm, as my struggle with these slices goes on, and dwindles, a little more, and a little more - and then welcome conclusion, nothingness, mere crumbs. Stumbled in somewhat by accident (literally just looked up 'Pizza in the area' on maps), and I am SO glad I did. This slice, especially if you eat it right after they give it to you, felt like the perfect crunchy bite. It was hot, savory, and did I mention that it was crispy. I need you to know that it was crispy. The garlic squares were equally as crispy-- they were more bite sized, which made them different from the garlic knots that you might be used to getting. Super good, but definitely less doughy and more chip-like. Note that the squares come with marinara sauce, but the sauce comes COLD, which is insane to me. I don't know about you all, but I need that sauce to be warm to enjoy with my warm garlic squares. I don't like the thought of getting served refrigerated marinara sauce from the day before. Another downside is that the place itself is so skinny. there's barely enough room to have two people side by side because while there's pizza/ordering happening on one side, there's a small standing room only counter that's on the other side. And then people are cramming through the middle to try to exit. It was chaotic when I went in to get a lunch slice on a Saturday, and I decided to buckle down and eat at the counter, which made me subject to a ton of shoving.
