We came early for dinner and were immediately seated with smiles and a warm welcome. The ambiance was lovely and dimly lit perfect for a nice romantic dinner. Miriam was our server and did a lovely job of checking in on us regularly and explaining their menu so thoughtfully. We were provided with a nice recommendation for a medium bodied red and we also enjoyed a bottle of a nice Sauvignon Blanc. We opted for one of the chef's tasting menu options and were so glad we did. It allowed us to try some of their best dishes without getting wheeled out afterwards. Our tasting started with their cheese and truffle pasta that was absolutely divine and delicate. The fresh noodles are made in Italy and expedited to the restaurant, which was exceptional. Saved us a flight out. Their Cacio e Pepe was perfect and we shared how the last restaurant we ordered it from in San Diego had oversalted the noodles and blamed the pecorino. The noodles were great. Their pomodoro pasta was next and another slam dunk. A perfectly seasoned and balanced red sauce with chewy and delicious pasta. Reminiscent of our time in Florence we opted to order an additional pasta, their arrabbiata, which packed just enough heat to round out our meal. The tasting ends with their take on a tiramisu that was delicate and delicious. We would certainly return if we lived in the area. A must visit for anyone in Nomad. They have a no tipping policy which made us uncomfortable since every team member provided us with excellent service. I almost don't want to write this review because I'd love to keep this place a secret but it's too good not to share. Uovo has only been open in NYC for 2.5 weeks and somehow it's still flying under the radar. We literally stumbled upon it while walking home. It's easy to miss because the exterior is pretty dark tucked right next to KazuNori but don't let that fool you. The concept sounded almost too good to be true. Every morning the pasta is handmade in Bologna Italy and then flown overnight to New York. It sounds crazy but after tasting it I completely get the hype. The texture the bite and the flavor were unlike any pasta I've had. One of the best deals on the menu is the $50 tasting menu which includes an appetizer three different pasta tastings and dessert. Every single course was outstanding. We ended up trying even more dishes because we couldn't resist and everything from the Battuta and Tagliatelle al Ragù to the Cheese and Truffle pasta and panna cotta was phenomenal. What impressed me just as much as the food was the service. James the manager was incredibly welcoming and the regional manager happened to be there since they're newly open. Both took the time to chat with us and made us feel genuinely appreciated. The attention to detail was obvious. They even brought us fresh forks with every pasta course which was a small touch that made the experience feel even more polished. I was so caught up enjoying the meal that I barely took any food photos. Another pleasant surprise was that they're a no tipping restaurant so the hospitality you receive is simply part of the experience. This place isn't going to stay a hidden gem for long. Once word gets out I wouldn't be surprised if getting a reservation becomes as difficult as some of the city's most sought after pasta spots. If you've been thinking about trying it go now while it's still relatively easy to get in. So glad we got to check out this new pasta place! Was craving good quality pasta and this did not disappoint! The vibes are moody and sultry, with dimmed, dark lighting, chick music, and a long bar where you can watch chefs prepare pastas. Not best for groups larger than 4. Not a lot of seating, so make reservations for peak dinning times. We came right at the opening at 5:30pm on a Thursday and got seated without issues. Staff try exceptionally hard with that boisterous Italian charm. A little too much for me, as I prefer to be left alone, but for most people this is expected and considered top notch service. Everything we ate was delicious and I'd gladly return again to sample more menu offerings. $22 Battuta di Carne appetizer was top quality meat. Amazing flavor. Would return for this! $26 ragu was simple. Not the best pasta dish ever (as many reviews claim), but then again, I have very high standards for pastas. Very light dish. There is no sauce--the natural fattiness of the bolognese mince meat coats the noddles, giving it a light, oily coating. This isn't a dish for you if you like saucy dishes. This is very simple and understated in its simplicity of flavor. $26 Vongole was the simplest dish we tried and I'd skip this next time. Very light. Very mild flavor. I prefer my dishes to be more bold and stand out at least in some ways. The pasta was nicely al dente, so the chew to this was good. Wish there was more sauce and tiny clams with this. $27 Crema di Parmigiano was my favorite of the night. So decadent, creamy, and gravy--this is perfect for all cheese and sauce lovers out there. I'd eat this every day and not get tired. The tiny (meat containing) tortellini were so tender and delicate. Super fun to eat! Pop them like candy and dip into that rich, cheesy goodness and you're in heaven! Great portion size that will leave you full. Or if you want to split it along with another pasta dish between two people. This is a no tipping restaurant--hospitality is included in the prices, which is really nice. $100 for four dishes for two people was a good price tag for the quality. read more

The pasta here is absolutely delicious, particularly the fazzoletti picante. The artichoke tagliatelle was also very nice, and really enjoyed the veggie sides. You definitely need to try the tasting menu. e had the cheese and truffle. Immediately my favorite. Pomodoro, Tagliatelle in truffle sauce, and Cacio e Pepe (the best I have ever had and I have had it in Rome) words can't describe the experience. Cliche 10 out of 10 would recommend. I've been a UOVO regular since my time living in LA, and I've genuinely missed it ever since moving to New York. Even with all the incredible Italian food options in NYC, nothing has ever quite compared to UOVO for me. There's just something about the simplicity, quality, and consistency that makes it stand out. I was so excited when I heard they were finally opening a location here, so of course I had to go on opening night. The space had such a fun energy, and the staff did an amazing job keeping everything running smoothly despite how packed it was. Honestly, everything was even better than I remembered. I had the carbonara, the ragu, and the tartufo, and every single dish was incredible. We tried a tasting menu and it was perfectly put together! The tiramisu was a real highlight, as was the truffle pasta. The yellowtail was the perfect way to start the meal. The staff was all kind, knowledgeable, and attentive (special shout-out to Daiyo)! You could see the chefs working from our table, which was very cool. Went to the Uovo in Santa Monica in December 2021. Food was amazing. Last night my husband and I went to the new location in Manhattan with my brother, sister-in-law and niece. Food was outstanding! My husband had the Cacio e Pepe; I had the Crema di Parmigiano: my brother had the Carbonara; my sister-in-law had the tonnarelli Pomodoro; and my niece had the lasagna. We met the owner, Christian! He was delightful! He even brought the table a sample of the Tagliatelle ai Carciofi to try. Like everything else on the menu, it was delicious. We were fortunate enough to attend the soft opening of Uovo and were so blown away by the wonderful staff and lovely meal we had. The Tasting Menu is absolutely worth the value, and I especially want to highlight the ambiance and staff: While it was bustling, there is a sense of calm curated in the space with the design, and we were thrilled to be tucked into a corner and get to witness the chefs working. We had wonderful and thoughtful service from both Jamel and Jace who went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. We already adore the co-owners of the restaurant for their other locations and menus, but we're really thrilled to see them lay the groundwork in such a thoughtful way (already!) now with Uovo. We went on the opening day. Everything was great. Appetizer, pasta and desert. Pasta seemed to be a little bit more expensive but they import pasta all the way from Italy and taste is the same as pasta we had in Rome and Florence. We are glad that we don't have to fly to Italy to truly enjoy authentic Italian pasta. We will be enjoying authentic Italian pasta every week. read more
