It's a bummer to have to leave this review. The reality is that upside is great pizza. Fantastic even. But I guess they have a policy that is unworkable for certain customers. My girlfriend is allergic to tomatoes. I ordered a pie off Grubhub and in the box to add optional directions I put "half without tomato sauce please." To make sure this was done I had my gf call after we placed the order to confirm the directions. This is when things went sideways. The guy starts arguing with her about, saying they can't do it, won't do it, etc etc. "we have already placed the order can you please just make it with half this time?" Some rambling and a hang up, go to pick it up 20 minutes later and of course the entire pie is sauced. It's not a big request. Tomato sauce is spread, it can be less spread, now I need to go get food for her so she can actually have dinner as this is no longer edible for her. Pizza was just okay. The crust was weak and wasn't cheesy enough for me. The sausage pepper one was too sweet and I wasn't a fan of it. But the soft serves they serve right next door though?? Holy. Moly. Bomb dot com. Super soft and better than your nostalgic mister softee. I tried the vanilla and the pistachio flavor and both were soo good. Definitely will keep coming back for that ice cream. After a stellar first experience at their 8th Avenue location during their infancy, I finally paid this location a visit. Same friendly staff and same no-frills delicious pizza. I had a pepperoni slice and a tomato square. The total came out to $9 exactly. Gone are the days of thinly-sliced pepperonis. It's all about the slightly smaller charred, thicker, grease-filled pepperoni cups now. I especially enjoyed their tomato square since the sauce was tangy and herbaceous. The dough was soft and airy, while the sides were charred and gave a nice slightly bitter aftertaste. There was plenty of seating inside and out. 2-3 round tables on the Mulberry Street side of the store and 3-4 large picnic tables on Spring. I enjoyed my first visit to this location and I'll definitely be back to try out their other offerings. A must-stop-by whenever in Nolita. read more

The crust is perfectly foldable and solid but the sauce is a bit watery and very salty, which is the primary flavor component. Your mileage may vary but I prefer more of a balanced flavor profile and denser texture. It will satisfy a craving in a pinch but I would rather trek to Ben's or Joe's or wait a bit at Prince Street. PIZZA, the UPSIDE to the night *ba dum Tishhh* tough crowd tough crowd Decided on plain slices straight outta the oven , the timing couldn't have been better. On a side note the line was about 10-15 inebriated people long at 230am. The staff were really pushing the pies, they were going as quickly as they came out of the oven. Staff had a sense of humor, joking and serving, the ideal pizza spot you wanna be at late night. The Dave Portnoy eval: the pizza holds up well, firm and crunchy, no Chicago flop, cheese to crust ratio wasn't bad although I had more crust left over after the best parts were devoured. As you can see in exhibit B (the pic) the crust did take up a substantial amount of realestate on the slice, definitely more backyard than was needed (or front yard, whichever side you eat first). Dave would have given it a good 7.5 but it got 4 stars from me. We started with ice cream and ended up with Pizza. It's a fair switch. Go here for the pizza, take home the ice cream. read more

The workers are very friendly and make sure your pizza is warmed up before receiving it. Stopped by here while waiting for a brunch reservation in SOHO (we were really hungry don't judge!) and it definitely hit the spot. We got the spicy vodka and it was really good! Busy shop and you get served at the counter pretty quickly, but aside from that, the service is not good. They don't have napkins anywhere. Someone asked for napkins and the guy shrugged. The bathroom is absolutely gross and apparently not cleaned or maintained. Paper towels were out and soap was low. This is unacceptable for a bathroom which is used only by customers. I came here as I was in the area and had heard good things about it. It's on a very lively block in Soho, so be prepared to wait. I got a regular slice and it was pretty good. It came out piping hot which was nice but it was lacking full flavor. There are seats both inside and outside, though I imagine when it's slammed, you'll be hard pressed to find a seat.
