Had my first visit to Urban Plates yesterday and they made a great first impression. It's order at the counter, but the customer service is still top notch. Food was very good and serving sizes were ample. I had the chimichurri steak with a side of chili lime corn and sesame broccolini. Steak is cooked to order, which I appreciate. I also took an order of the ahi tuna with beet salad and Brussels sprouts for sides to go. All of the food was very good. The corn & broccolini were my favorite of the four sides. I had the strawberry basil lemonade which was good but didn't come with refills. The basic lemonade does, so it's a better deal. Service was very friendly and good came out quickly.

$20 for the steak frites after tax. Not a ton of steak, but for grass fed (and hopefully grass finished?) it was good. Delicious, tender, perfectly cooked steak. A little too heavy handed on the peppercorn but the sauce was excellent. The fries were good if a little thick for my taste and definitely too salty- I'd want them to lean into the herb next time. It's clean, bright, and stylish inside and the service was very friendly and quick. The mirror walls are a weird and disorienting decor choice but that's a tiny nitpick. The bread was the worst part of the meal. Dry, flavorless, sad. It's really hard to ruin bread but they sure did. I'd definitely come back and try more.

I work down the street and came here for lunch. I've been to Urban plates one other time in Torrance and remembering it as not so good food. After eating the food here it's super good! I ordered the BBQ pork ribs ($25.99) and a cookie ($3.99) and there's a 1.5% surcharge??? And I added tip. My total lunch cost $36.99. The ribs were surprisingly good! The bones even come off the meat cleanly and easily! I would get the ribs again! The cookie was super disappointing. For $4, it tasted like a day old cookie. It was dry and brittle. I came Monday when the restaurant opened. It must of been Sunday's leftovers or something. Interior is nice and modern. Staffs were very friendly. And near the entrance, you can pour your own water and there's to-go containers as well.

2nd & PCH has so many good restaurants to choose from and Urban Plates is definitely one of them! Parking in the structure is free for 90 minutes and you're right next to the restaurant so you don't have to walk through the whole center and be tempted to spend your money at Lululemon or Nike. The food options are endless with such variety, including desserts, and can satisfy any vegan or carnivore tastebuds! All of it was delicious and fresh. Just so you're not blindsided like I was in thinking I was paying less than $20, be warned that there is a 2% surcharge on top of your bill. For what? I have no idea but discovered it after I got home and looked at my receipt. Also, if you're ordering the sides plate like I did, know that it's not $14.99. I didn't notice the up charges for certain sides, which the cashier didn't warn me about. He was a nice guy though. Also the (non alcoholic) drinks are like $5, but free refills (depending on what drink). Next time I'll have water.

My finance and I were at the Sunday fair at 2nd and PCH , decided to grab lunch here. First time at this place and love it. You order at the register/ pay and pick an open seat. Staff finds you and brings your food out when ready. Being our first time here the staff at the register was super helpful and patient while we decided. I ordered the chicken Cobb salad , but I don't like blue cheese and asked to switch to Parmesan cheese. Amazing salad !! Everything was so fresh. chicken was tender and juicy , loved that it came with both white and brown meat of the chicken. The portion size was huge ( picture does not show how big it is). They had a lot of appealing items on the menu and we plan on coming back to try More.

I wanted something healthy but satisfying after my recovery session at sweathouz and urban plates sure delivered! The surf and turf was great; my steak was cooked perfectly. Tried my partners salmon and it was really good as well. Sides were cooked to perfection and overall just very happy with the meal and experience. I'll definitely be back!

Brought the BFF to the Shops on 2nd after wine tasting on a Friday evening since we were close by & had never been. Was getting a little hungry and was trying to decide where to eat with the limited amount of restaurants in this shopping center and came across this place. I am not a big fan of order at the counter types of restaurants but I get the concept is pretty popular with such places as Woodfire Grill, Lemonade, Corner Bakery, to name a few...anyway, I ordered the grilled chicken breast plate with mac n' cheese and brussel sprouts. My BFF ordered the grass fed steak plate with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The portion sizes are perfect (not too small, not too big) but the food was lacking flavor. My mac n' cheese was too watery and the chicken still had the skin on it but not crispy as it was Haisan style, which grossed me out. The chicken was also a bit overcooked as it was rubbery in some pieces. My friend liked his steak but he said overall it was lacking flavor. Their natural soda selection is nice, but also overpriced. Overall, we paid 52 bucks for two entrees and two drinks, which is pricey for an order at the counter type of place. Food quality is better than fast food, of course, but I'd rather frequent Corner Bakery instead. Service was great, though, and one of the managers asked us to rate the place on Google for a free oatmeal cookie. The cookie was good but super crumbly. I doubt I would patronize this location again, but perhaps willing to try another location.

After a morning of exercise, we stopped in for a late lunch. I ordered two chicken strips, macaroni & cheese, and a Caesar salad. My friend had a house salad (hold the jicama) with grilled salmon. We both had the dragonfruit lemonade. Each of our meals were enjoyable and service was excellent. Eddie made sure that we had everything we needed at our table and checked in after we began eating. The restaurant was clean and had several other patrons at different tables without being too busy or crowded.

Wow this place was sooo delicious. Hubby and I wanted to eat something healthy while walking around 2nd and PCH and this joint hit the spot! It was immaculate inside. Lots of space. My girlfriend swears by this place! My friend has a lot of autoimmune diseases and when I eat anything delicious I'm flaring in bed for days. So she recommended it! Coincidentally, it's been on my mom's list of places to try as well. I drive by all the time. I parked in the closest parking garage and it wasn't a far walk at all. This place is located at 2nd and PCH which has a bunch of great stores and atmosphere. Also, a lot of parking. Some close up, some not so close up if you don't mind the walking When I walked in there was a counter you order at and the huge menu. They had great options like turmeric ginger rice and hummus. So I ordered one of their plates. The - Chimichurri Grass Fed Steak and then it comes with two sides. (I ordered The turmeric rice and hummus) I also got the Chimichurri on the side) We also ordered- The braised beef and mushrooms. seasoned natural beef, slow cooked with red wine sauce, whole mushrooms, yellow onions, organic carrots, celery, garlic and fresh parsley They also offer a bunch of organic drinks such as organic lemonade and organic teas and etc Fresh ingredients and none of that added stuff. This place has food for vegans, vegetarians and good food that actually fills me up without flaring me too bad Also, the organic mashed potatoes with no gravy were awesome After we ordered they give you a number for your table and bring it to you. The place was extremely packed on a random day and random hour. But they do have a huge amount of seating It did come out really fast, so I was impressed. We did get back up to look at the desserts in the case. Everything looked amazing but we were so stuffed. (They have hummingbird cake, which where I am from it's sooo popular. I'm coming back for this) Prices were great to be honest They have a pretty large menu for everyone Great outdoor seating that's dog friendly They do catering Side note. They take food allergies serious. So if you have any, don't hold back. There's plenty of options. Whatever diet you are on, here's the place to go. They also have a lot of low calorie options

This is our go to dining place for whenever we eat out with the twins and we're shopping at the 2nd and PCH plaza because it's easy, healthy, and delicious. We have the membership which is only $5 a month and gives 20% off your order which is worth it if you're going to spend over $25. We come here at least once a month so it's worth it for our family. We also added our orders through the app and placed the order when we got a table to save time. Anthony provided great service and checked on us often. The staff helped check for allergens cause our babies have a few of them. A few of our favorites are the sea bass, chicken tenders, beets side, seafood chowder side, and Brussels sprouts side. The steak kids meal is a hit also. Placing the order at the counter is a bit slow because there are a lot of options and usually only one counter is open so placing the order through the app was super convenient for us especially with our babies in tow. read more

I was hungry and decided to give this place a whirl. Chimichurri steak, mac and cheese, Brussel sprouts, and a slice of bread. I finished it all, of course. I did kinda wish there was a slightly larger portion of mac and cheese? And I'm not so sure my steak was medium rare like I was told-- it seemed more medium well or well done to me. Eh???? But, still flavorful but not my preference. Brussel sprouts were a solid-- so I do suggest ordering those. And the piece of bread is a nice addition. Overall, it's fine? I'm fed. Full. What a treat! We were treated like royalty by the manager Eddie for no reason other than we were customers. The food was great; i enjoyed a salad and the tomatoe basil soup. Beet salad with goat cheese yum. We had a fantastic meal on the beautiful wood tables. Very nice atmosphere with friendly people. The gal at the front waited patiently for my man's food decision and said "take your time" to which i said " oh boy you're gonna regret that." Salad was good. Fresh. It was my first time here and I really liked it. Ambiance was nice too. However, I'd asked, when I ordered, if they had Diet Coke to which the gal answered, "yes." Great, Diet Coke it is. Now, I don't always order a drink. I hate paying upwards of $5 for a soda. But when I really want a Diet Coke, I really want a Diet Coke--not Diet Pepsi, not RC, not Shasta, but Coke brand (Coke drinkers, you got me, right?) However, when I tasted the drink, it was NOT Diet Coke! I went up and told the gal nicely, "this is NOT Diet Coke." She responded with, "Oh! No, that's our brand of diet soda." I told her, again, nicely, I wanted Diet Coke (have I said "Diet Coke" enough here?) and that I didn't want it. She told me it was no problem and they'd get me a refund, that the manager would come see me. He never came. So on my way out, I asked about it and she said the manager had already taken care of it and was able to refund my card. Great. Well, I NEVER received a (almost $5) refund on my credit card and I'll never go back to Urban Plates. It's not so much the $5, but the fact that I walked out of there assured they did what they told me they did, but didn't. I spent $50 plus tip for lunch for a friend and myself. I'll go elsewhere next time. read more

A great place for healthy meals, the food feels like it's home cooked and there is a huge menu to work with. The staff is helpful, courteous and they seem like they really like to be there. I've lived by this place for 4 years and never been. Walking in I told the waitress/cashier Jess that it was my first time. She was very nice and gave great recommendations on what to order. The place itself is nice and the portion sizes are good, but the overall experience was disappointing. We were served cold food, and no one asked if we needed anything else like sauce, drinks, or additional items. On top of that, the food wasn't even good. The staff barely checked on us, which made the experience feel rushed and inattentive. It almost felt like once the order was taken and the tip situation was settled, there was no real interest in the customer experience anymore. Good service and good food are both important, and unfortunately neither met expectations during our visit. read more

Each time I've visited, we've found ourselves waiting close to 30 minutes for our server to come by for refills, a to-go box, or even the check. I completely understand that mistakes happen and that things can get busy. I've worked in the restaurant industry before, so I really do try my best to be understanding. However, during one of my recent visits, my order came out incorrectly. There was an item on my plate that I had specifically requested not to have. Of course, mistakes happen, and I had no issue communicating the mistake to my server. What bothered me was that instead of apologizing for the error, she looked at me and simply walked away with the plate. I assumed it was a minor mistake and that she would have the order corrected. I could have just removed the item myself, but at the same time, I shouldn't have to pick through my food after receiving an incorrect order when I'm paying for it. When she brought the plate back, she simply left it on the table without saying anything or acknowledging the mistake. I actually found myself apologizing to her for making her do the extra work, and she just walked away. Overall, I really do think Luna is a great restaurant with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. I'm sharing this feedback because I think with some improvement in customer service, communication, and wait times, Luna has the potential to be even better. I would definitely come back, and I hope this feedback is taken as constructive criticism rather than anything negative.

Quinoa is great, but doesn't work for everyone. Even just one or two added entree salads would make it much more enticing to return, especially for mixed gender groups. Ideally, the chef could rotate this salad through new concepts seasonally. No need for new menus, just do a specials card. If that's not possible, then one or two permanent salad items to cater to the health foodies would be AMAZING. The main issue is that the Nick's menu lacks innovation, which makes it hard to bring business partners or friends there on repeat visits. I wouldn't be so bothered except that the last time I went to Nick's I added chicken to a salad and they gave me a very poorly prepared piece of low quality chicken with three mouthfuls of bone and gristle. This place food has not changed a bit the serving portion is still the same ! I go to the Torrance urban plates once in a while since it's a little closer but I honestly prefer this place better ! They have great service and food is always good. Their steak is amazing I love the chimi sauce it's so delicious I always ask for ex sauce. Friday was movie night so I decided to stop by before it gets busy with some friends but it's always pretty busy, I was greeted at the front with some great customer service. I always receive my food as I order it never had an issue the mash potatoes are delicious. My to go plate would be the chimi steak or salmon plate both of those plates are amazing! I use to live so close to this location I would come in and dine with friends and family. I saw some familiar faces and some new people. This is my 3rd time coming back ever since I moved out I remember getting greeted by Marianna and Leslie when I would come in, But seem like Marianna doesn't work here anymore haven't seen her , she was amazing always would check up on our table and get us refills! The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet modern feel that made it the perfect spot for a meal. The menu had such a fantastic variety, offering something for everyone. I opted for the chicken plate with brussel sprouts and quinoa with chimichurri sauce on the side. It was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Every bite was a treat! What really stood out, though, was the service. Emily, the cashier, truly made my visit special. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made me feel welcome the moment I walked in. Was just stopping by to meet up with some friends, and we were trying to figure out what to have for dinner before we went to enjoy the nightlife at the Bungalow. They kept mentioning Urban Plates, I've never had it myself, but based on the recommendation I decided to give it a shot, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the chimichurri steak, and paired this off with mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts, this was the recommendation given to me by Eddie who took my order. I'm not what so ever a fan of brussels sprouts but he sold me on them, and he was absolutely right. They were soooo GOOOODD! Thank you Eddie! I got myself a beer to go along with it as well. Chef Felipe delivered my food and we decided to ask him about the sauce (chimichurri) and he walked us through their preparation process with no issue. I love the ambience here. You can either sit inside, or outside. It's great that the staff is so attentive to lighting the restaurant heat lamps as soon as they see customers dining outside. And, the food! We really enjoy the Cobb salad, the Asian salad, the braises (chicken, or beef), their mashed potatoes (yum!), their chicken sandwich...need I go on? The drinks are also varied and great tasting too. And, the food is all health-conscious! Such a great deal as far as price is concerned too! The best part is that the staff here is so nice and attentive. Alejandro is super-nice and very attentive. He has a nice way of making you feel like you are dining in your own home! What can I say about this place? Let me start off by saying that when you step food in this restaurant you instantly greeted with a warm smile from their cashiers. They made ordering as simple as can be, and don't try to rush you. This day I was assisted by Emily, she answered all the questions we had regarding diet and allergies, she was very accommodating. This was followed by the manager Eddie delivering our food and bring condiments to the table. He then came back around to check in on us. This was then followed by the Chef ( I believe his name was Felipe) coming to ask if we were interested in Refills. I mean how does this get better? Well it did, on our way out we seen Felipe was near the pastries and we proceeded to ask, and he sold us on trying the Mango Tart! They definitely make you feel like your the only guests in the building and paying undivided attention just to us, even though I seen them assisting other guests. The service was fine. My only problem really is how the plate I ordered is described with "medium rare steak." When I received my plate, it was more well done. My friend ordered the same thing and their plate was perfect. I asked the lady if mine was medium rare and she asked if I would like it "a little bit more rare" from it being medium well/well done. I kindly agreed and said please, but when I receive my plate again it was literal rare. I told myself whatever because I did not want to complain again and ate what I could. The rest of my food was cold as well by the time she got back. My two other friends ordered the same burger and one of theirs was really pink in the inside when the other one was well cooked. My friend with the pink burger was complaining and kind of scared but she never spoke up. We also got bribed with a cookie to review 5 stars, and we noticed no other table was asked the same. I live far away with little choice for anything remotely similar (Azusa). Anyways, we actually drove around the PCH and wanted to go get some sea food, because of Super-Bowl Sunday the place my fiancé and me initially wanted was close. It wasn't until my fiancé said "you know what trust me" and so I drove to this little plaza. We walked it and the smell hits you right from the get go. I looked up the menu and I was delighted, I picked the beef stew with mushrooms and smashed potatoes. My fiancé got the tuna ahi with quinoa and beet salad with goat cheese. I cannot stress this enough, all the food was amazing! The goat cheese with beets was mind blowing, the beef stew was tasty, tender and juice. I had one of the worst customer service experiences at this location. When I walked up to the counter, the cashier was taking a phone order. That's understandable, but what bothered me was the complete lack of acknowledgment. Even when another register opened, I was ignored. A simple "thank you for your patience" or "sorry for the wait" would have gone a long way. Instead, once the call ended, the cashier just said, "I can take your order when you're ready." It felt cold and dismissive. I placed my order and waited, hoping the experience would improve. Unfortunately, when my food was ready, the cashier simply handed me the bag without saying my name, thanking me, or even offering a smile. I wasn't rude -- just disappointed. Having worked in customer service myself, I know how important it is to make guests feel seen and appreciated. Sadly, this experience left me feeling the opposite. Urban Plates needs to seriously retrain their staff on basic customer service. read more

Seen this restaurant pop up on my search of where to go eat in Long Beach and Urban Plates came up. I was amazed with how many great things a lot of people had to say. Well it lived up to the hype! I was very impressed with the aromas, the fresh ingredients, speedy service and attentiveness they give. I was able to get a seat right in front of the kitchen and watch the magic unfold. Being able to see the cooks whip up their magic was incredible. Then the star of the show, Emily brought our food with a smile. I seen her name on a lot of reviews and so to be served by her and feel her positive energy and that be the server that delivers your food, just solidified our visit. I don't usually do reviews but from what happened, I just wanted to shout you guys out. My brother was feeling really down yesterday and I heard great things about this place so I decided to come here. I had to convince my brother to come with me and once we got inside, a lady, I believe her name was Daniela, and she greeted us. She had a great smile and she was very friendly. We ordered our food, and while I was paying, my brother was talking with her, and afterwards we sat down, he had a huge smile in his face, telling me how he feels better, how she made his day way better. We got our food, and it was delicious, even my brother was telling me how the food was so good. We didn't get a chance to thank her but I just wanted to give her a shout out. Had a wonderful experience visiting for the first time. There was an issue at first with my food as there was a delay in it coming out. However, when I brought it to the attention to the front server She promptly addressed the issue. shortly after Emily, the supervisor approached our table apologizing about the situation. My husband's plate was taken back and was made freshly to join my plate when it arrived. Shortly after our food arrived, the head chef Felipe approached our table to apologize again and ask how everything was.. I give uban plates 5 stars for customer service and the quality and taste of the food. We all have been through mishaps at restaurants. Typically, it's a" Oh, i'm sorry." I have to admit I was reluctant to eat here. It seemed kind of like vegan-meets-GenZ-meets-the avocado toast people-meets-the Tik Tok generation. But it turned out they do have some chicken and beef options for protein. I tried the sliced steak with chimichuri and it was fantastic. And the vibe (while I was not exactly incorrect in my impressions) was a bit more comfortable than I originally thought. They don't have any drinks with artificial sweeteners here. Ok, fine. I'll still come back for the steak! There isn't much service beyond someone behind a cash register taking your order. And if you want a drink refill, you need to be really aggressive in your pursuit, but you'll get it. I ended up drinking the fresh pressed lemonade, which was delicious. Give it a try! read more

My family and I love Urban Plates they have such a big menu for everyone. Where its located is also amazing my mom and I go for a little shopping and after go eat. Parking is free at the Marina but they do have garage parking located right next to them. Service it top notch from the moment you walk in you get greeted and if you have any concerns regarding allergies or your watching your calories they have all that cover for you. Todays service was excellent Mariana was so attentive and welcoming she assured my mom was getting taken care of especially since it was her birthday. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to give this restaurant and its staff a review! I came in last night and it was absolutely flooded with people, so that's how you know it's good. Leila was so kind and helpful in the front and made sure she gave me her full attention while taking my order. When the food came out it was absolutely amazing and gone in 15 minutes! I ordered the tender sandwich with fries and my friend got the chicken plate with roasted potatoes and Mac n cheese. Needless to say, it was served hot and to perfection! To top it off, Sam came by and gave us these giant free chocolate chip cookies! We took one bite and fell in love! We will definitely be coming back! I took my mom out for lunch and we were both greeted by Mariana, at first I thought we were going to be in a line for a while because she was by herself but no I was wrong she was multitasking she was taking there order she was also grabbing their drinks . You order at the kiosk which is just a high table with the host. You pay and you find your table. Then they bring your food out. I ordered the Thai noodle salad with chicken and my parents ordered a bowl of the chicken noodle soup to share, as it is large enough for 2 to 3 people. Our waitress who was very kind and courteous brought us our food with an extra bowl for dividing the soup. However the bowl of soup is around 40oz and the only utensil we had to split the soup with, was a plastic tea spoon. So, i asked if she had anything else like a ladle or if she could have the kitchen do it. She hesitated a little as if she wasn't sure and then decided to take it to the kitchen. When she brought it back, it was obvious that they had just dumped half of the content of the one bowl into the other very unthought fully as if they really didn't want to do it. The bowl had drippings all around it. One bowl had mostly all the chicken and the noodles in it and the other just the broth. So, i fixed it up for my parents. My mother, whose appetite tends to spike with a good dish presentation, hardly ate anything. My father on the other hand does not care. So, he had most of the soup. My Thai noodle salad was good but nothing special. And to make things worse. We were constantly having to chase flies off of our food. I guess this latter one comes with dining outdoors. But i am pretty sure that restaurants must have a way to keep the flies away. In the end. It was not the best experience. I have no complaints about the food, but mainly about the kitchen Service and the annoying fly situation. I really don't know if I'll be back anytime soon.
