I'd say one of the oddest things that's happened to me at this branch was that I was approached by a complete stranger who'd just received a letter, read it, and asked me for legal advice. This has happened to me twice! And I'm almost positive that on one of the occasions, I was wearing a Green Lantern t-shirt. That's not a guy you want to take advice from. Unless it's how to defeat Sinestro. Am I right, nerds? Are there long lines? During certain parts of the day, sure. But it's a post office. I've stood in long lines at this branch, in Solana Beach, Golden Hill, College Area, etc. so it's not an anomaly that warrants any downgrade from me. They lost 4 of my packages and had no intention of trying to find out where they were. Can't say I'm surprised but it's still irritating.

I mean, its a post office, but c'mon. I'm not expecting you to kiss up or anything, I just want to do what I came to do and leave ASAP. The line is long. I had a passport appointment and waited in the line. Each worker looks like they hate life and no one even smiles. Takes forever. Finally hit the front. What should've probably taken max 40 minutes to get my picture taken and turn in the forms which I already had prepared took 2 hours, due to an incompetent woman who retook my picture 3 times as I had to walk to the front and back over and over to wait for her to process for her to bring it out and ask what I thought then go to her coworkers and ask what they thought to have them reject it, asked ME how to change the printer paper, and took her sweet time taking down names and getting it wrong and asking again. I have no qualms with people who speak English as their second language or even if she struggled to write. What I had qualms with was the lack of training that she had to ask me how to do things. Dude, I have no idea how you use your camera or print the picture. And the last thing I need on a lunch break to get my passport done that I had to call and make an appointment and wait for two weeks,is another wait time in front of a crowded post office with you in the back trying to figure it out. I think she was a temp worker but still. Anyways, I don't think they care what the reviews say since they don't seem to care about customer service but just for the sake of any who choose this place, beware. Service is horrible. Counter employee asked me to step aside to fill out the form to mail my package and come back straight to her and she would helped me. It took me 2 minutes to do. I shipped $33 international package usually take 6-10 days, but mine took over 30 days and still do not receive it. I went back to the post office 3 times with no help. They told I should wait should be at least 2 weeks-4weeks. Okie I waited still nothing & my package is missing. I can not even make a claim because mine is international. If I can give them negative 5 star that would be great. The money for shipping is not important, but I do care the most important things inside the package for my family. read more

road entry and mini side lot aren't ideal. the whole location should relocate to a more traffic friendly location. lots of issues/complaints I see in line or at the counter tend to be customers not knowing what to do or not researching enough prior to showing up (i'm guilty of this at times too) but the staff has more than 90% of the time been straight up and as helpful as I could ask for. I've seen the staff multi-task more than one customer and let you jump back to the counter numerous times . kudos for that.! it's really like the DMV experience... come early, prepared and expect to spend more time there than you hoped... read more

Compared to the post offices in neighboring communities, Mira Mesa has the longest lines due to the high volume of international post. I recommend prepaid shipping to skip them. As far as the location of the mailboxes, the parking lot is convenient for getting in & out, unless it is that magic 3-5pm time when d-holes try to use it as a shortcut. read more

This post office sucks, I first didn't receive a simple letter that I was waiting on. It showed up six months after it was mailed to me. I just received 15 letters bundled together from one year ago, and mind you important doc's. I think that they need to start doing drug test on the personnel of this Mira Mesa Post office. read more

I came here 3 times and every time the employees were so helpful, courteous, and smiling. I also enjoyed the interaction among them as they seemed like they enjoyed each other and had a good dynamic. I'd give this location no stars if it were an option. It is the worst! I've been here twice in the past two weeks & they don't have any stamps. How can a post office be out of stamps?!? Worst. Experience. Ever. OMG! Where do I begin? First off, filling out the change of address form I had. I wrote all my information, legibly, to ensure no problems. Fast forward to two weeks later, and I had gotten none of my mail because the clerk said he could not read the name or address on the change of address form. Then he said I wasn't in the system. When I paid with a credit card and had a receipt. I had to start all over again, but hey, at least I didn't have to pay again. And to top it off, I'm pretty sure that him, nor the lady he called over to help spoke fluent English. Then he once again blamed it on me and said he could not read anything I wrote. To top it off, the parking is insane, and the placing of this post office can be a little scary for leaving, as it is difficult at times. Seriously, the most rude, incompetent people I have ever encountered in my life. To be fair no one ever has a fun time at the post office and this place is no exception. This location is the one that serves the Mira Mesa area and it looks to have been doing that for quite some time now. Honestly the place is just kinda run down. In my experience there is hardly ever all five stations open to help the line move faster either. I do like the automated mail machine so you can mail your own packages (up to a certain size of course) but often times the door to the lobby jams so I can't get in after hours. I thought it was always supposed to be open so one could get there po box mail? read more

THIS PLACE SUCKS! They lost my package and even with proof of delivery in my hands they argued with me that they don't have it. I followed up with UPS and Amazon and was provided with proof of delivery and the two dumb ladies working the desk were both snarky and extremely rude. I arrived 3 minutes before closing on a Saturday but was denied entrance, and screamed at by a Filipino female employee who shouted at other employees in the lobby to not service me. She even had the nerve to tell me to wait as long as I wanted inside but no one would service me. I asked her to see the manager, to which she responded "Go ahead!," yet no manager showed up. I have never received such poor service and attitude from anyone and the service I received from the Mira Mesa post office branch is a pure embarrassment to the United States Post Office. I know, no one likes to go to the post office. However, this branch is one of the best. The customer service is exceptional. I usually just drop off prepaid packages. However, I need a receipt. The agents are very personable, efficient, and extremely help. When there is a line, it moves quickly, as a supervisor will assist with drop-offs and any questions. This post office is horrible. Honestly, the community has outgrown the size of this post office. The lines are usually long and the customer service is usually slow and horrible. Fortunately, I only needed to mail an envelop today so I used the drive thru mail boxes that are lined up on the exit. However, when mailing something I try to use the self-service postal machine which is usually a lot quicker than standing in a 20 minute line. Stay away from this post office if possible. The Carmel Mountain Post Office is just a short drive and so much more worth it. read more

I ONLY come here because of convenience and NOT because of their great service. I arrive at 7:00 because of the self service kiosk. I use the machine, receive my postage, but, can NOT place package inside of the box next to it, because it is JAMMED! So, I walk around back to ask anyone if there would be another option for leaving my package and a few postal carriers tell me to drop it off on the dock. I walk over to the dock and a white woman with short hair, tells me I can not be there. I explain to her why I am there, and she tells me to go back inside and she will get the drop box cleared out. I do as I am told, but her lazy self NEVER showed up! It is now 7:15, and another person just left a box of envelopes, next to the box. Well, I wasn't about to do that. I am reading on the box that first pickup was supposed to be at 7:00 am. Then another, employer walked in and I spoke with him about the box. He took my package. NOW here is what I do NOT understand, the box says, first pick up will be at 7:00 am, he takes my package at about 7:20 am and this Priority Package did NOT get into the system until 2:26 pm. NOTE to Post Master. NOW is the time to hire some NON unionized workers that will actually work and FIRE all of the lazy ones! read more

The Mira Mesa Post Office repeatedly did not answer my numerous calls to their phone number today trying to seek help for a lost piece of mail. I also experienced them failing to answer phone calls about 7 months ago when they misplaced and delayed an important international delivery with tracking number. When I went in person, the staff didn't seem concerned about losing mail or wasting about 30 minutes of my time in the branch. THE WORST! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Every time I go there it's always the same. 1 cashier (2 if you're lucky) is open and the line is out the door! Then on top of that the moron customers wait until they get to the counter to ask questions and fill out all the passport paperwork! When they mail packages they fill out the shipping labels and forms all at the counter! I'll never set foot in there again. your tax dollars at work. Also NEVER DEPOSIT MAIL IN THEIR BOXES AT NIGHT. If negative stars were available this place would definitely qualify for one. They have lost 2 packages in the last 6 months that were both worth over $100 a piece. They "confirmed" a delivery that never made it to the destination!! Unreal. Just pay Fedex or UPS the extra money because they at least they care if the package makes it to the desired destination. I went in to pick it up manually, worker then proceeds to tell me that they don't have my package. She then had the audacity to tell me I didn't put an address on my package which then made it undeliverable and lost. An online order from Amazon WITHOUT an address? This isn't even possible. First of all, they NEVER answer their phone. Why have a phone number listed at all? Secondly, I have the LAZIEST carrier known to man. My house is three doors up from the mailbox and instead of leaving oversized packages on my doorstep or in the larger mailboxes, he crams them into my mailbox, whether they fit or not. He left me a notice last Wednesday they he needed a signature for two deliveries. I signed the notice and requested re-delivery that night and put it back in the mailbox hoping (assuming) that I would see them on Friday. Friday came and went, Saturday came and went, Monday came and went, and still NO packages. Really? Either do your job or get the hell out of the way and let some unemployed person take your spot. read more

GOSH why must this be my hometown post office. So let me tell you about my only 2 experiences with the post office. Both horrible might I say. First off, I went in to cancel a change of address since we weren't expected to move in quite yet. Filled out a form and they put it on file. 2 weeks later had a package come in that according to tracking is just bouncing around everywhere and then states delivered when that obviously wasn't the case. Went back into office and the took note and couldn't find package, said they would speak to postman who routes my area. No call back. Literally 2 months later got my package and had to pay the extra postage of it being bounced back and forth...RIDICULOUS. Second visit, I go in 830am on a Wednesday. Long line already whatevs I'm just trying to figure out how much postage will be for my Christmas cards. Get to counter and gave associate heaviest envelope along with the address of one going the furthest so I know whatever postage I get will cover everything. She tells me $1.76. I go to self service to purchase stamps since they only had Batman and other ridiculous designs available. I click option for oversized package since I had candy canes and first class mail. I'm weighing each one individually and putting in zip code of each destination one by one. I notice okay it's all $1.15 no matter if its here in mira mesa or in northern Michigan, at this point I have done 5 envelopes. I stand in line and get a different associate whom I ask if I just get postage for my envelopes for $1.15 will it still be first class and be enough for my envelopes. She takes a look and says yes. So I go back and purchase 5 more stamps. I notice bin for outgoing mail is fill and wont open so I go and ask this guy who is in casual clothes..maybe the manager?..I ask him where do I put my envelopes in to make sure they go out with the envelopes that are already in bin..he's like let me take a look and tells me I have wrong postage...I CANNOT BELIEVE HIM...I tell him well 2 of your associates told me I was doing the right thing. No apologies from him. I go what do I do to fix it, he's like see an associate and stand in line like everyone else. WTF really?! So I stand back in line to have yet another associate help me and he's like okay it will be $3 something...no no no I just paid $1.15 for all of this each...he then deducts the difference and has to do everything one by one. Recently needed to go inside because stamp would B out of country...both postmaster and counter guy said I needed zip code for Wisconson. Well, dude, this letter was addressed to an individual in St. Georges, Grenada, W.I. That's West Indies dude. I told them zip codes are not used 'there' and both said, "Wisconsin?" U get it...this isn't the 1st time I've been 'helped' by totally ignorant employees...buy stamps, when I need, after hours and use the intelligent machine in the lobby and when I ship, I USE UPS,,the brown delivery vehicles, ALWAYS have smart ppl working there. read more

not only is the office in a very inconvenient location but the actually mail delivery in the mira mesa area is HORRIBLE. when I order packages the tracking info will say it was dispatched for deliver at 8am but I wont get it til 8 PM. I use to get my mail delivered before noon but now im lucky to get it before dark!!! the mailmen don't give a c**p about your mail either and try to shove boxes in to the mail box that will never FIT!! instead of walking a few feet and putting it on my front step!! and what's worse is I cant find any customer services place to complain to!!! read more

The USPS should be privately run. My package sat on their shelf for over a week until I had time to go over, stand in line, and request my package. No one monitors delivery times/tracking, and if you have a problem there is no other way to solve it than to go to the post office. Poor customer service. At least I get all of my junk mail on time. Let me start off to say that I'm glad I don't plan on living in this zip code forever. I've been tracking my package and the tracking told me they left a notice yesterday since no one was home to receive it. The tracking also said that I needed to arrange for re-deliver or go to the USPS station to pick up or it would be sent back on June 1st. That left me 2 business day to do something about it due to the Memorial day weekend. Well, there was no notice at the door or in the mail box. I had to call USPS to find out which station it was staying at. Then I went on line to see if I could pick up the package without the notice since the general USPS phone number would not tell me and advised me to call the station with no answers. I went to this USPS station at 8:45AM. The clerk took 15 minutes then came back and told me the carrier had gone out on his delivery with it. Well at this point I didn't know if I would believe him. I asked him if there was any way he could contact the carrier to make sure that the package was out with him. The clerk told me he would get me the supervisor. Another 15 minutes went by. A supervisor showed up and told me the carrier was at my house and already left the package there. I called home and not to my surprise, no package. So I found myself standing there, looking around in desperation. The clerk who helped me earlier had disappeared, so did the supervisor. I stood around for another 10 minutes or so. I've been there for 40 minutes and all I got was a lie and no one to talk to. I waited and waited. On the verge of tears, I started saying in a loud voice: Would someone please help me here? This was when a woman, who was standing around, totally ignored me the whole time, stepped up and told me to leave "HER" station and that she would not allowed me to give her "an attitude" in "HER" station. I asked her if she could help me. She said she was helping me and again asked me to leave. Please note all she did was giving me a lecture about talking loudly and asked me to leave "HER" station. If this sounds pretty absurd to you, it is to me too. I still couldn't believe I was ever treated that way. I asked for her name and to speak the supervisor, she said "no one was required to give out names" and "everyone was a supervisor here". In the middle of the conversation, I saw the supervisor whom I talked to earlier in the back so I looked back when the woman said "AND DON'T LOOK AROUND HERE". I couldn't believe she was saying those very words to me. At this point, I had enough with those people so I decided to leave. I told her I'd write to the Congressman. She immediately told me not to threaten her and that she was calling the police. The carrier eventually dropped off the package at the door. My family was home and no one heard the door bell ring. Besides writing to the Congressman and Consumer Affairs, I don't know what else to do. I can do my mailing with UPS and FedEx ; however, others still send me mails via USPS. A clerk told me this woman's name was June and the only June there. They wouldn't give out her last name. Many people told me their packages got lost and there was nothing they could do about it. I do believe them. From this woman's attitude and the way she runs "HER" station, I believe there's probably nothing I can do about the way she treated me either. read more
