Cute coffee pop-up inside Cheerio Collective. Small, simple menu with high quality coffee (brewing Tomodachi). I got a Sakura Matcha - one of the few local places that offers sakura drinks, and the only one I've seen with their own homemade sakura syrup. The matcha was perfectly made and the sakura taste was delicate but flavorful. Service was super friendly too. I'd highly recommend this place.

I love their Miel Cream Top and Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I recently got to try their breakfast burrito and it was good! The ingredients were standard breakfast burrito ingredients but it tasted more elevated and put together. I do wish it was a little bigger for the price but still good regardless! Service is always good. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Drinks come out in a timely manner and food comes out relatively fast as well. The ambiance is AMAZING. The whole spot feels like you walked into an exclusive bar. I love how dimly lit it is inside; it really adds to the ambiance of this "dark and mysterious" coffee spot. There is a lot of seating inside but it is always packed every time I go , so try to be there early to catch a seat! Overall , I love this spot. Will come back again.

Very cute flower logo, and the space is rather large with a store for plant-related goods, a great assortment of plants, outdoor and indoor seating, ordering area, pick up area, etc. Friendly people that work here as well! We tried some espresso tonics, cappuccino, non-caffeinated drinks, and matcha. No complaints from us with what we ordered. They also do some seasonal drinks. One that stood out was an iced matcha with strawberry rhubarb. I'd try that one if I were in a matcha mood, but I needed those espresso shots in the morning. Great environment to hang out, get some plants, enjoy some drinks, and even to study!

I found parking on the street, it wasn't too bad at all. It looks like they have a couple of spots behind the café, if you're lucky. It's like everywhere you turn, there is more seating and more plants. Inside the café, you can find merch and a small menu. The barista and cashier were really friendly and helpful. I went with the wildflower iced latte. The cashier said it was a good choice and I also asked someone in line. I thought it was delicious. It could have had more flavoring, but I definitely can tell that the ingredients were of quality. I also walked around and looked at the plants. Pricing was a bit high, but they were very gorgeous and the employee in that shop was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend you stop by!

The café itself is super cute, very clean, and has such a welcoming atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive. There were so many menu options that I honestly wish I had more time and more of an appetite to fully indulge and try more dishes. We were in a bit of a hurry. I tried the chilaquiles, which were quit filling. They were a different style than the traditional version. They used crispy tortilla chips similar to the kind you get in tortilla soup, which actually gave the dish a really good twist. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The food overall was really good, and I especially enjoyed the latte because it wasn't overly sweet like a lot of places tend to make them. Overall, such a great little breakfast and coffee spot in Eagle Rock. I'll definitely be back when I have more time to explore more of the menu.

Kumquat lives off of York Blvd - a street with many families, creatives, and small businesses live. The environment is always wholesome. Their staff are always friendly, and as an experienced barista myself, I can see that their team are also very talented, well trained and very good at quality control. Their espresso is so balanced and sits perfectly center on your palette. Their matcha and hojicha is rich and velvety and seemingly a higher grade product. They work with many roasters, and sell a lot of their beans on their shelves. They also sell a lot of coffee and tea tools. I love everything about coming to Kumquat. Stopped by after lunch in Glendale after eagerly anticipating the chance to finally try their Halo…read moreHalo. Unfortunately, it ended up being a huge disappointment. We ordered both the regular Halo Halo and the "Upside Down" Halo Halo. The regular version tasted like it had coffee ice cream, which completely threw me off. I kept wondering if I had been given the wrong order because it definitely wasn't the classic flavor I expected. The "Upside Down" Halo Halo was even more confusing, it looked exactly like a regular Halo Halo. For those unfamiliar with this Filipino dessert, the traditional Halo Halo has all the mix-ins at the bottom. So if you're going to call something "upside down," wouldn't it make sense for those ingredients to be on top? Just saying. There were other issues as well. Instead of traditional pinipig (toasted/puffed rice flakes), they used Frosted Flakes (the cereal!). The boba were scarce and hard, there were only a few strands of jackfruit, a sliver of flan, and coconut jellies. Most notably, it lacked classic ingredients like sweetened beans and macapuno that give authentic Halo Halo its signature flavor and texture. If you're looking for a traditional Halo Halo, this isn't it. I have to disagree with the claims that Cafe 86 serves the best Halo Halo, in my opinion, it's one of the worst I've had (with Manila Inasal's coconut milk version still being my least favorite). At $11.50 each, the portion size and quality simply don't justify the price. The Frosted Flakes didn't work for me, and what tasted like coffee ice cream completely changed the dessert's flavor profile. The problem with many modern dessert shops is that they try to reinvent traditional favorites for the mainstream but end up losing the essence of what made them special in the first place. Authentic Halo Halo is all about the balance of classic ingredients and textures, and this version missed the mark. Would I come back? Never. Would I recommend it? Absolutely not. If you're craving a more traditional Halo Halo, I'd recommend heading to Max's in Glendale instead.
