My husband, a former sous chef who used to make Clam Chowder for Lady Bird Johnson in the 1970s at the Saint Anthony's in Texas, said it was great. We were looking for a place to eat nearby our house and we were at this restaurant. On this rainy day all I want is a bowl of hot soup and they have Minestrone soup served hot, it was tasty but a little bit too salty. My husband ordered spaghetti with meatballs, he really likes it and I try a bite was not bad at all, the meatballs is really soft and tasty good. We also ordered garlic bread, the bread tasted good as well. We also order a small Hawaiian pizza to go (see the photo insert). The pizza ok tast, need a little more favor, the pizza dough is good enough for me. Monday night my usual go to pizza joint was closed so I decided to try Venice Pizza. I figured they were close and seemed like that had a pretty good selection and prices. Food took about an hour for delivery, nothing good nor bad with that and the driver was friendly. The pizza itself tasted fine, if not a little bland and dry. The primary issue here is the food poisoning. I enjoy the runs from time to time (sarcasm) but on a Monday of a work week the timing couldn't be worse; sleeping was a struggle the night of and the next morning wasn't much better. The night after I gave the leftovers a chance at redemption, maybe we ate too much or it was something else. Two slices that night and same result. Dominoes has been the only pizza place I've ever had dietary problems with which made me avoid chain / fast food pizza places altogether. Disclaimer- I've never had their pizza. This is based on nacho and burger deliveries only. I've ordered maybe 5-10 times for delivery in the Amazon-Crocker area and don't recall any introvert delivery times. I have had a few surprisingly short delivery times. You should order the fries crispy or they'll come soft. The burger is really big. Fresh bread, veggies, seemingly a frozen patty. Not bad. Not great..... Until you compare it to other delivery burgers in the area. It's by far the best there. Easily. All in all, best delivery for these items in the area. Not only that, but they sell slices for cheap and their personal pizza (4 slices) is a straight steal for only $5. It can't get any better than that. As a loyal customer for years, this is going to be the last time I order from Venice Pizza. As the prices have gone up over the years, the servings have gotten smaller. Now, they have a delivery charge on top of their already pricey food. My food was lukewarm and yet, the driver tonight refused to leave without a cash tip. 2 major issues! 1) Called in an order and they would not honor the stated online coupon price. This was also the coupon price on the flyer they dropped off at the house. 2) When ordered they gave us a 40 minute delivery time. An hour and 40 minutes later we still did not have the medium pizza we ordered. When I would call to follow-up they would not pick-up the line. Somehow that's all changed, and after today, they've officially been blacklisted from my house. I ordered a small Mexican weekend pizza from Venice pizza and it took nearly 2 hours for it to arrive to my house when I live 2 miles away. The estimated time of delivery was 820pm. When the pizza still wasn't at my house by 840pm I gave the restaurant a call and they said my pie would be at my house in 5 minutes. The pizza still hadn't arrived at my house by almost 9 so we called again and they said the pizza would be delivered in 12 minutes ago even though they said it'd be delivered in 5 minutes 15 minutes prior. It wasn't until 910pm that the pizza got to my house. To top it off the pizza wasn't even hot when it arrived. I ended up being an hour late to my own birthday party. Venice pizza will not be getting my order ever again. read more

Serviceable pizza when you're really in a bind, but it's expensive, and the crust tastes like cardboard. 2 large pizzas and a side of chicken wings for over $50 with tax. That's a little too much. The meat combo and veggie combo pizzas were decent? Meat combo was pretty stacked (even though ham was the main ingredient), but veggie combo was basically just a bunch of olives and a smattering of bell peppers and onions. Neither one was anything to write home about. Pizzas don't fall apart when you separate the slices, and owners are pretty nice people, but I would probably go elsewhere next time. OK Venice Pizza. I've given you two chances, and you just didn't make the cut. I've had multiple mediocre experiences at Venice Pizza. The first time I checked it out I was coming home from work (slightly foggy-minded) and I stopped in to grab a slice. The pizza took like 20 minutes (for a slice??!) and they gave me the wrong change. I had to argue with the counter dude to get the $$ straight. I went back last night with friends to grab a quick bite and was even more disappointed. The staff were confused and disorganized. They seated us in the dining area and acted like a halfway for-serious restaurant, even though we just wanted to grab our slices, sit down and eat, you know, like you do at pizza places? Again the wait was ridiculous, but this time we were awkwardly seated in a cold back room. We had to ask to place our order. We had to ask to pay for our meal. The pizza is OK though and you can tell they're trying to do things right, but they can't seem to come down from the clouds. Get it to go and place the order over the phone. read more

The only words I can say are . BEST Pizza I have ever had, (a delicious cheese piz, and American Style peppeoroni piz) the view of the San Fran skyline is delightful, and the waitstaff were very nice and attentive. Walking out of this place I felt the must fulfilled I have ever felt in my entire life, a full belly, a cool breeze, and an incredible view was enough to make a grown (15 yrs) man cry. For 12.99 the portion size for what is essentially cheese filled pasta was incredibly small. There four gum-ball sized meatballs (albeit served with a sizable portion of pretty good meat sauce) overly filled with breadcrumbs (and sliced garlic to cover up the cardboard taste of the breadcrumb additives. Given the $12.99 cost and their meatball's hefty breadcrumb percentage, the added garlic bread--while tasty--could have been at least as large (and thick) as the 6" Subway meatball sub (which at Subway offers 9 - 10 real meat equally sized all meat meatballs) --for HALF of Venice's cost (albeit without the not-too-filling, but relatively tasty--six or seven cheese filled raviolis.) $6.99 plus $1.50 - $2.00 delivery tip about equals a small 5"-6" roll, jar of marina/meat sauce and small microwavable package of cheese ravioli at TraderJoes. Delivery was polite and timely. In four years this is my first poor review--anywhere. Money is so much more hard earned and/or received these days than in my several decades memory. read more

The ingredients were fresh and tasty. I always order my calzones light bake because I have a VERY particular temp that I cook them too, everyone else ALWAYS overcooks their light back...Venice doesn't.
