This classic menu and mood lighting really made for a lovely meal. The portions were hefty so come hungry!! But is it my favorite cozy italian spot in nyc? Probably not. We both got items that were specials and were truly amazing but the actual menu was what to be expected from any italian restaurant. What a nice spot to celebrate my friends birthday. They had very nice outdoor seating set up-- and not only was it vwry cute but it is on a low traffic street in the west village. Our service was great and I personally enjoyed my meal. However, multiple people in our party were drawn to the carbonara, but ended up finding it too rich and thick. They also called it "unexpected and non traditional" Either way I'll go back with different friends... the pizza looked to good to not try. read more

Sotto13 is a quaint Italian restaurant in the west village. Our waiter kindly brought us bread to stave off our hunger while we perused the menu. Our table of 4 shared the arugula salad, Caesar salad, and 2 pizzas. The arugula salad was refreshing and well-dressed-- I highly recommend pairing it with pizza for a well-balanced meal. The prosciutto pizza was basically cheese pizza with arugula and sliced prosciutto on top-- they could do more with it. The spicy sausage pizza was savory and definitely one-upped the other in my opinion. Both pies had thin crust, which is always my favorite. I recommend Sotto13 for a weeknight dinner of pizza and wine. The martinis were subpar, so stick to vino! read more

Expect to leave here stuffed with the amount of delicious food that's about to be brought to your table. You might have to waddle out like we did. Their truffle pizza is to dieeee for and the pineapple margarita is strong, yet not overly sweetened. Let's talk about the vibe- a very open layout full of natural lighting. While the food was really good, the service was absolutely horrible. Several tables around us got attended to and served before us despite being seated after us. Note that we were a large group of 7 so it was very evident. We had to ask the manager to even put in our initial order and after the server only started attending to us with a very obvious annoyance. First time here. Was a pleasant experience, upon arrival me and my wife waited for the host to seat us. We did outside dining. The seating was close together but worked out fine. Came here for brunch intrigued to try their pre fixe brunch + drink social brunch menu. They have a few outdoor tables, an intimate front bar room a d a spacious back dining area. Would definitely recommend a reservation on the busy weekend. For $39/person you get 90 minutes to have 3 different brunch plates, a side, and a bottle of brunch cocktail. They also have a build your own prosecco bar for an addition $29/person. We obviously had to try this and it was a really quite setup! In addition to our prosecco there were 4 different mixers (elderflower, Bellini, OJ, aperol) and fresh fruit to try with each glass. Loved this very cute and fun take on a cocktail brunch drink. For the entrees, we ordered the shroom pizza (delicious and cheesy with truffle oil sauce), eggs Benedict, side of bacon, and the black currant French toast. Everything was very good. I especially liked the French toast which was a perfect sweet bite. My only complaint is how quickly they brought out the food which made me think it was likely pre-prepared in batches. Would have been nice to have more spacing between courses. Overall, I had a fabulous experience here! The food was decent, ambiance was nice, but the staff and the way the brunch works were so complicated! I put in a reservation Thursday for 5 people Saturday morning. When we showed up, the host says he doesn't have a table and tried to say it's because I booked last minute. I stared at him for a few seconds because I was trying to remember, and he insisted pretty hard too, ready to defend himself and put the blame on me. Then the host gave me this long winded explanation too of how he puts reservations on one system and has to transfer it over to another system? The whole conversation was silly, but he figured it out and got us a table so we gave it a chance. THEN THE WAITER - So the place opens at 11, we have this reservation for 11am, but couple of people were late (11:15/30) and we are interested in the bottomless drinks menu. The website says we can enjoy it for 1.5 hours. There are multiple drinks on the menu and carafes that can be shared between two people- so naturally, we picked a couple flavors. The waiter says, "No, no only the mimosa is bottomless"; Ok so we ask him to disregard the flavors and get us the bottomless; then he goes "Oh no, the bottomless brunch is only until 12pm.. you guys should have showed up earlier"- so OK FINE WE WILL JUST STICK WITH THE CARAFES WE PICKED IN THE FIRST PLACE Then we are trying to pick the family-style food, but we have a member in our group who is vegetarian. So we were thinking of asking for half meat, half margherita pizza. When we asked, they said "oh no, we can't do that, we can only serve one flavor" and gave us all kinds of excuses. But when they served, they gave us two pizzas (pictured below)!! We confronted them saying, "why didn't you let us know we will get two pizzas in the first place? We couldn't ask for 1 plain, 1 meat?" The server came up with all kinds of stuff "oh that's not what the chef does" "that's not how we do things"; guys, please, not even an option to pay a little extra ? I felt pretty bad leaving this restaurant such a harsh review; but it just seemed like the staff was really going out of their way to make their customers feel stupid. I took my wife to Sotto 13 for her birthday and, unfortunately and disappointingly, had a pretty bad experience. The place is nice looking, and the pizza is good, but the rest of the food was either mediocre or strange tasting (the Tuscan Eggs tasted like licorice??). The bad part was the management. The wait staff was good. They were nice and prompt, but the management was rude and inconsiderate. First of all, I made a reservation a month prior. You'd think making a reservation that early would guarantee you had a table. Wrong! Our reservation was for 1:15pm and we arrive around 1:05. We had to wait for over 40 minutes to be seated because they decided to book a party at our table. So much for a reservation. And then they kept seating people before us, people who arrived after us! We complained about this and received no apology, just a rude reply from the manager of "their table is ready" before walking away without a second thought. The wait would have been more tolerable if they apologized or were sympathetic in the slightest, or if the food was overwhelmingly good. But the rudeness and the strange tasting food was just too much. I can't recommend Sotto 13. They are rude, don't understand how to manage reservations, and have way over priced food considering the quality. Skip this place. read more

We came for the weekend social brunch prix fixe and the food was great. Also good value for what you get and we left not only super full, but also took some pizza home as leftovers. Definitely one of the more reasonably priced spots I've been to in New York. Service - Nice and friendly service. We had a reservation outside but then realized it was too chilly. They accommodated us moving indoors instead. Atmosphere - Small interior with a bar and a few tables. Had a nice, dimly lit ambiance but tables were super close together and we could hear everyone else's conversations. We were sitting beside a really obnoxious pair of guests who were making homophobic comments and that really killed the mood for us. This is why I can't give the restaurant 5 stars (I know they can't control who their patrons are or what they say - but I wish we didn't have to sit through hearing multiple other conversations) Food - The shroom pizza was the best I've ever had - I would go back just for this. The mix of mozzarella and ricotta was DELICIOUS. I normally don't like to eat pizza crust but this one was soft and chewy. - I had the quinoa bowl and it was a generous portion of roasted vegetables. Tasty and healthy, but flavors didn't blow my mind - The French toast was not my favorite, but my partner liked it. Less generous on the portions for this one - just two pieces of toast - Crispy potatoes - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, well seasoned. Was going for brunch at Flex Mussels, but they were closed so we decided to try out Sotto 13. They have a 'weekend social brunch', which is basically family style. You get to choose 1 pizza, 2 brunch entrees, 1 side, and 1 drink - which comes in a carafe or bottle depending on your party size. Food portion is determined by the party size, so there should be enough to eat for everyone. Priced at $37 pp, it's a pretty good deal. You can also order a la carte if preferred. Sat in the bar area which started out quiet and we were able to sit right away, but it did quickly fill up. Looks like the kind of place you will have to either go early for or make a reservation. A little mixed on the food. The mushroom pizza was very good and had a lot of flavor. The tuscan eggs were fairly bland - the chickpea had no flavor. Sounded like it would be great, but it just didn't meet expectations at all. The focaccia french toast was ok - average, the creme fraiche it came with was good and made the dish. Ordered the bellini but barely drank it. It was more peach than bubbles. Next time I would just get bubbles with no mixer, if anything. Overall not my favorite spot for brunch, although we did like the pizza and would consider coming back for that. I was a little underwhelmed overall. Service and atmosphere were good, I just wasn't in love with the food. I may give dinner a shot to see if that's any better. Tips: Mushroom pizza read more

Great place to hold a party! Room is spacious, skylight and chandelier add charm, acoustics are good and, most importantly, Rich is a joy to work with! So happy we found this place. This past weekend, I had a larger group for my birthday party, and it was so great. I communicated with Rich, the events manager, the week before through their own reservation portal (for group events), and they also had a pre-selected menu you can choose from that made the event so smooth. It was a bottomless brunch with two choices of drinks, and the food was served family style from the pre-selected menu. There was more than enough food for the entire group, and the waiters made sure our glasses were never empty (haha). With a 10 person group, ordering individual dishes and such can get hectic, so I really liked that that was already taken care of beforehand. (The pre selected menu has options too, so you can choose which dishes your group wants!) My favorite dish from the day was their shroom pizza, but everything else was delicious as well. My entire group loved the experience, and we all had an amazing time. I highly recommend Sotto 13 for brunch with larger groups (or small ones too!) and I can't emphasize how impressed I was with how coordinated the whole day was. Probably one of the best brunch spots I have ever been too. Great for a large brunch for an event or just a regular gathering. Waiters are attentive and constantly start refilling bottles as soon as they need to be. The sangaria and mimosas were great quality and super smooth. They were easy to drink with the right amount of alcohol. The 90 minute bottomless lunch plus food was an amazing deal for the prize. The worst dish of it all was the Nutella donuts which tasted like an old dry kitchen sink sponge. We were so exited to try it and everyone took a bite and spat it back out. We sent it back to our waiter that said okay I'll let the manger know and he left . This used to be a bottomless spot which is why we went but now it's a very limited menu with only a carafe of drinks for 2 people. The food honestly was mediocre. It wasn't filling and again there weren't many options to choose from. We had the salmon, the crispy potatoes and the french toast. None of which were very good. The service was also really bad. Our waiter seemed like he had gotten up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. He wasn't helpful in explaining anything and just acted annoyed at us asking questions. It added to the bad experience. The only good thing about this place is that the atmosphere is nice... won't be coming back here though and wouldn't recommend for the price point. There are plenty of other places in NYC so I'd suggest y'all to try one of those instead. read more

Had such a lovely meal at Sotto 13! I met a girl friend here around 7pm on a Thursday night for indoor dining. The staff at Sotto 13 really put our minds at ease with all of the precautions they took. First, upon entering, our temperatures were taken. At the same time I noticed a server wiping down our table before we were seated. The staff wore masks during the duration of our meal, and other customers were seated at tables more than 6 feet away. Cutlery was wrapped in our napkins. Overall 10/10 for safety, but the food was amazing as well. A win-win situation. Pre-pandemic they had a larger menu, but they are still offering a pretty good selection of apps, pizzas, pastas, and entrees. We decided to order 2 apps - the Arancini with Smoked Mozz (divine), and the Arugula Salad with a delicious creamy dressing. I went with the Prosciutto di Parma pizza for my main and my friend ordered the Carbonara. The portion sizes were HUGE. We stuffed ourselves since the food was delicious, but we also had plenty to take home. The cocktails were refreshing and creative. So yummy! The ambiance was warm and cozy, with the perfect fall decorations to match. It was a really nice escape from the cold night we were having in NYC. We didn't get to see the back patio area but I would definitely be interested in dining there when the weather warms up. Would give 10 stars to this spot if I could! My friends and I ate here last month bc we were looking for some good Italian food in NYC. Luckily they had availability to seat 8 of us for dinner and we got some really nice seats right in the middle of the restaurant. Not only that, we were given fantastic service. I myself ordered the mushroom pasta and yo I've never had pasta that had such a strong mushroom taste from the sauce to the actual bite of the pasta itself. Not complaining though, it was really good and I finished it to the final bite. The table also ordered some other pastas and pizzas and they were all really good. Especially the prosciutto pizza with arugula!! I'd love to try this place again. read more
