service was great food was just okay, the starter bread was good and the moscato. we got the rice balls as an appetizer but they were overcooked (waiter took it off the bill without us asking! so that was great) - The ravioli was really good but i wish it came with more than 2 for the price. the rigatoni with meat sauce was good but bland, not too many complaints.

Definitely a fine "grab dinner before a show" type place, but not somewhere I'd frequent - especially for Italian (pasta, pizza, etc). The pizza was ok but definitely expensive for what it was. It gave vibes that it was cooked in like a toaster oven. The pasta was ok, but said it came with "baby shrimp" and then had three medium to large size shrimp on it? The martinis also weren't great. The inside does have a really cool vibe though. Service was also fine - we went early so it wasn't busy.

Brand new happy hour menu and arancini wow. This is a must wow and their seevice and staff amazing.

There are so many words that might capture the essence but all I can say is it is in the secret sauces! No matter where I go in the world, it's only old school New York Italian that's pounded out to the thinnest most delicious and lovely dish. Don't miss this small intimate traditional place - you might even hear chef's soprano if you're lucky

My friend and I came here for dinner last night. We arrived for an early dinner and we were seated right away. The interior is quite dark, but had decent lighting. The service was good and attentive during our meal. We each ordered the fiore blanco which was pretty good, but they had these odd lights at the bottom of the drinks and we weren't quite sure of the purpose or if it was just for presentation. For food, we ordered the watermelon salad to share and then I got the fettuccine Alfredo and my friend ordered the hanger steak. We also ordered the chocolate mousse to share, which was probably my favorite dish of the night. The salad and entrees were perfectly fine, but nothing to write home about. I don't think I'd come here again, unfortunately.

My group and I went here in Nov 2023 and looked forward to coming again. The food was divine and the service was great. This time around, not so much. To begin with, compared to the last time we were here, the place was dead. We all wondered what we were missing. After the food came we knew why it was dead on a Saturday at 6pm. The portions shrunk by half but the prices stayed the same! We were all in shock when we got our food. The portion was borderline ridiculous for a dinner portion and price. The service was half as good. The waitress simply didn't take half of the drink orders and we kept having to call her back over for everyone to order their cocktails. The drinks were fine. I'm so upset, as this was our groups favorite restaurant. Pictures show a comparison of the Nov 2023 portion to the Now. I understand inflation, but I would almost prefer paying more and the portions staying the same. Not shrinking! Overall, the food is great but the disappointment in difference of price and service is too much to ignore.

Food, service, and ambiance at 10pm on a Sunday was unquestionably the best experience ever. Our waiter was on it! He was very attentive, had great mannerism, and provided us great service. The food in itself was the most authentic and fresh Italian food I have ever had. The calamari was fresh, light, and the sauce was powerful and delicious. The bread served had a perfect light and airy crunch that was to die for! My pasta... SPEECHLESS!

The ambience, food quality and presentation, wine choices, and attentive staff were exceptional! We were not rushed and thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

    Happy hour wine

I just moved to 52nd and this is going to be my new local Italian place! The decor is interesting, but the food here is truly authentic. It's the best I've had in the city since spending a month in Italy. Try their amatriciana with homemade pasta, great happy hour specials, and fire cheese plates. Will be back!

There were a couple specials when we came on a different menu. We ordered a bottle of wine, antinori, ravioli ricotta e spinaci, maccheroni sull'anatra and tagliatelle al tartufo (twice). Everything was delicious but definitely the tagliatelle al tartufo was the star. I'm basic and I love a truffle gnocchi or pasta but this one far exceeded my expectations- from the fresh truffle shavings being included, to the homemade pasta texture (perfectly thin) and lastly but not least the sauce! The sauce wasn't a standard heavy cream tasting base, it was light while still being rich and strong in tartufo flavor. We ordered a second one because we all liked it that much. A close second was the maccheroni sul'antra, aka a duck ragu. I've never had a duck pasta and the fact it tasted like duck but had the same texture as a traditional ragu with pork was delicious. Service was great as well! The whole staff is very welcoming and very friendly while I was waiting for my friends to arrive. Thank you for being such a good memory for my friends trip, I'll definitely be back.

The dining room strikes that rare balance between refined and comfortable. It feels like a place where people actually enjoy lingering. The wait staff were attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being performative, and genuinely friendly. Service felt easy and unforced -- the kind that elevates a meal without calling attention to itself. We ordered from the lunch menu and were impressed across the board. The pear and endive salad was beautifully balanced -- crisp, slightly bitter, subtly sweet, and thoughtfully dressed. The steamed mussels were fresh and fragrant, served in a broth we happily sopped up to the last spoonful. The fettuccine was perfectly cooked and deeply satisfying. The braised rabbit was tender and nuanced, and the veal and ricotta meatballs were light yet rich, clearly made with care. Even the house wine deserves mention -- excellent, well-paired, and generous enough to make a midday meal feel celebratory without excess. Overall, it felt like grown-up Italian dining done right: elegant but unpretentious, thoughtful but never fussy. We'll absolutely be back -- perhaps next time for a long dinner when we can stay even later.

I made a reservation for two of us on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 4:45pm, but we arrived around 2:50pm and they were able to seat us without an issue. There was only 1 other table occupied at the time. We were first brought complimentary focaccia bread basket with an incredible tomato basil spread. The Restaurant Week Prix-Fixed Lunch Menu had good options for the antipasti and entree. I chose the Indivia & Pere (Endive Salad with Pears, Walnuts & Pecorino Cheese in a Lemon Dressing) for antipasti and the Branzino al Forno (Roasted Branzino filet with rosemary served with island vegetables style) for entree. I am still dreaming about the branzino. Everything was delicious. There was also a beer and wine special. I got the Villa Antinori Toscana Riesling. My friend had the Carpaccio di Manzo, Fettuccine al Coniglio (Fettuccine with braised rabbit and slow oven roasted tomato) and a glass of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. She enjoyed her meal very much. For dessert, my friend and I shared a Panna cotta Toscana con Salsa di Fragole (Tuscan Panna cotta with Fresh Strawberry Sauce) and this was so scrumptious that I wish I had the whole thing to myself or ordered another one. haha. Sorry not sorry. The atmosphere at Pepolino Restaurant is really cozy and I felt like I was transported to Tuscany from Tribeca. The first floor seats 28 people and the second floor seats 60 people. I read the reviews mostly good so I was hoping for the best. My friends and I were not disappointed. The first thing I noticed was there were 7 people in my party and 4 arrived early and did not have to wait for my arrival to be seated. Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage. I am not really a pasta eater but baby that dish could change that; it was DELICIOUS. I even liked the anchovy dressing on my Caesar Salad and I dislike anchovies. All the dishes ordered (chicken parm, mussels chicken paillard etc.) everyone enjoyed them immensely. The only negative was when the Chicken Paiikard arrived it was supposed to a shared dish by the elderly couple and they asked for regular dinner plates from one of the servers. It took the gentleman who took our order to step in and said sure, lucky their food was still hot. Common Sense is not so common for all. But this will not lower my rating as it was taken care of swiftly. The portions were the perfect size and I was not stuffed but pleasantly satified.
