Ambiance (3/5): A lovely space but tight table setting (so tight that the back of my seat was against someone else's, in order to get out, I had to have my seated companion leave their seat to leave mine...). Seating available at the bar as well. A cockroach was spotted outside the bathroom area!! Service (3/5): The owner was very friendly but not helpful when asked what the different red wines were and instead insisted on the most expensive one. I would suggest other patrons do a little research beforehand if you are unfamiliar with Italian wines. Wait staff did not speak English so we had to wait for the owner to get off his phone call, as he was the only one getting orders and closing bills. Expect the experience to take at least an hour 30 min if you are going before the show. Food (2/5): We came out with an expensive bill (1 $17 bottle of wine, 2 apps, 3 entrees for 4 pp @ $270) for the portion and taste. Warm table bread with olive oil - this was great Caesar Salad (5/5): The salad was fresh and tasted great. It was large enough to share with 4 of us. Special menu - Octopus (3/5) $27ish: One singular tiny octopus leg for almost $30. Parts of the octopus was overcooked, but it did have a lovely taste to it. Served with a butter knife which made it difficult to cut. Special menu - 47oz Steak (2/5) $45ish: Well seasoned. The meat was incredibly tough. Surprised to see how small the dish turned out to be. It was nice that it came pre-sliced. Branzino (3/5) $44: A lackluster filet fish with little flavor on an even smaller portioned dish. This was the biggest disappoint of the entrees Stracotto alla Toscana (5/5) ($45): This was by far the best dish of the night. 10000/10 experience!! It is very authentic and it was such an amazing experience! All the staff was so amazing and made our experience exceptional!! The drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic Shirley temple had these fun lights in them! The starters were all fantastic! The calamari was so thinly battered it had such a great flavor and wasn't all breading like some calamari's. The tuna tartar was so fresh I could not believe i got such fresh tuna in New York! The vodka pasta was incredible. We added some Parmesan cheese to it and it was so delicious! The tirimisu was amazing!!! Definitely a fine "grab dinner before a show" type place, but not somewhere I'd frequent - especially for Italian (pasta, pizza, etc). The pizza was ok but definitely expensive for what it was. It gave vibes that it was cooked in like a toaster oven. The pasta was ok, but said it came with "baby shrimp" and then had three medium to large size shrimp on it? The martinis also weren't great. My friend and I came here for dinner last night. We arrived for an early dinner and we were seated right away. The interior is quite dark, but had decent lighting. The service was good and attentive during our meal. We each ordered the fiore blanco which was pretty good, but they had these odd lights at the bottom of the drinks and we weren't quite sure of the purpose or if it was just for presentation. For food, we ordered the watermelon salad to share and then I got the fettuccine Alfredo and my friend ordered the hanger steak. We also ordered the chocolate mousse to share, which was probably my favorite dish of the night. The salad and entrees were perfectly fine, but nothing to write home about. My group and I went here in Nov 2023 and looked forward to coming again. The food was divine and the service was great. This time around, not so much. To begin with, compared to the last time we were here, the place was dead. We all wondered what we were missing. After the food came we knew why it was dead on a Saturday at 6pm. The portions shrunk by half but the prices stayed the same! We were all in shock when we got our food. The portion was borderline ridiculous for a dinner portion and price. The service was half as good. The waitress simply didn't take half of the drink orders and we kept having to call her back over for everyone to order their cocktails. The drinks were fine. I'm so upset, as this was our groups favorite restaurant. Pictures show a comparison of the Nov 2023 portion to the Now. I understand inflation, but I would almost prefer paying more and the portions staying the same. Not shrinking! What a lucky find. A great place for pre or post theater. Or dinner. Or late night cocktails. Perfectly situated close to the theater district but on fifty second street so it's not overrun and you kind of have to know it's there. A gorgeous restaurant/ wine bar owned by the most lovely gentleman from Italy who oversees the delicious menu and beautiful and inventive bar. So many interesting wines and liquers. Everything we had, from drinks to dinner to dessert, was excellent. It's such a great place to hang out.
