Last night was my second visit to Via Triozzi. I love this place so much. It is so beautifully designed and dressed...you get the sense that a lot of thought was put into every detail. I really appreciate that the chef/owner really engages with the guests. She stopped by twice during my last meal, happy to chat and answer questions. She told us about the desserts in detail, including that one recipe came from her grandmother. She is a wonderful host and it was a highlight to our meal. I am reviewing all that I've had over two visits: Arancini with saffron rice: I have always been an arancini fan. Via Triozzi's is among the best I've ever had. They come three large rice balls per serving, breaded and fried and filled with melty cheese. The edge of the place has a tomato sauce and a pesto to smudge your arancini through. The sauces were amazing! Romano Beans: This dish is between an appetizer and a salad. Make sure you order bread because it doesn't come with...but it should! Its comprised of Romano beans (thing Italian or flat green beans) and salad greens tossed in a vinaigrette over a cannelini bean puree that comes across almost like a hummus. This was my favorite dish on my first visit, and I would have ordered it as an entree on my second, but we decided to make a dinner of shared appetizers. Focaccia: The bread is good, but as someone who makes homemade focaccia all the time, it wasn't outstanding in any way. Squash Blossoms: We both felt that there should have been some sort of sauce. The blossoms were battered and deep fried with cheese in the middle. The batter was fried hard, so it was quite crunchy and I'm used to more delicate treatment of squash blossoms...Even so, they were very tasty. Eggplant Parmesan: I love eggplant in every way, shape, form. I hate to be critical, but the sauce overpowered the star of the show for me. It just wasn't my favorite. Dishes I only tasted or observed make me want more too: Bolognese - my daughter got this and it really was lovely. Nothing non-traditional, just yum. Swordfish - I'm not the biggest swordfish fan, but this dish was so beautiful, tasted wonderful, and was huge! The fish was grilled and served over a viniagrette/soup/sauce that ensured each bite was appropriately seasoned and sauced. It was amazing! Deconstructed Cannoli - this is a must order dish! I'm not a dessert person, but I shared with a friend and this knocked my socks off. Will I be back? Heck yeah! read more

Truly one of my new favorite restaurants in Dallas. I have visited twice now and both experiences were great- and they even had new additions to the menu! The Arancini is delicious and pretty heavy. I loved the taste of the Saffron and peas. The zucchini w ricotta is lighter and very fresh. Both raviolis were sooo tasty and my favorite dish for sure- the menu changed between my two visits but both renditions of the pasta were wonderful. The eggplant parm was the BEST one I've ever had. Its definitely heavy but so worth trying. Tiramisu was of course a 10/10. I highly recommend for anyone in the Dallas area looking for an elevated Italian meal with a warm ambiance and great service. A much overdue visit to Via Triozzi! Gorgeous restaurant tucked on the lowest end of Greenville. There is valet and there is a rooftop that will be opening in a couple of months. For appetizers, we tried the arancini (saffron rice ball with mozzarella and peas inside - delish) and the ricotta which was served with zucchini which is served cold (comes with a side a bread). The ricotta was really light and bright - the cold zucchini made it unique. For our pasta, my friend and I split the carbonara. This was really good but so so heavy - just a few bites is all you need. Jordan was excellent on service! My only complaint was that there is apparently a strict 2 hour limit per reservation so we were asked to leave so the 9:30 res could sit - it was a little abrupt and it would have been much more appropriate to ask us to move to the bar to finish our cocktails. read more

When I visited, this was almost a brand new restaurant in Greenville. I love trying new restaurants whenever I'm back in Dallas, and it makes me so happy to see such beautiful and elevated restaurants open in my hometown. Via Triozzi has a gorgeous interior, and they make use of the space really nicely. You can even see where and how they handmake their pasta near the front of the restaurant. I had to wait a bit even though I was by myself, but I was eventually able to sit at the bar. That was probably the most annoying part of my visit because I don't think staff did a good job of clearing out the bar seating area, and it was really crowded and rowdy. I ordered a few things to try, all of which were pretty good. I had the prosciutto and melon appetizer, which was so delicious! I almost didn't want to eat the last piece because of how good it was. I also ordered their famous lasagna, which I actually thought was just okay. It was definitely a better lasagna that I've tried, but to say it's what their known for... I don't know about that one. It's a pretty large piece, so I would actually recommend people come and eat family style if they can. Lastly, I ordered their take on a berries & cream dessert, which was so yummy! They make the cream in-house, and the berries were all very sweet. I can't go to an Italian restaurant without ordering an espresso martini, and they did it so well. The balance of the acidity, bitterness, and sweetness of the cream was fantastic. Staff is pretty nice, and I enjoyed conversing with the bartenders. First of all, the attention to detail when curating this space did not go unnoticed! From the copper tile ceiling to the beautiful sage green bar - loved the ambiance. We LOVED the mozzarella appetizer (and ordered the garlic bread to pair it with) both were fantastic. For main courses we got the lasagna and Vongole. The lasagna was a hearty portion and full of flavor with lots of meat. The vongole lacked in my opinion. It didn't have much flavor, but I asked for more chili oil that is served on top of it and it was significantly better. The Tiramisu was delightful and light. Would definitely come back. It's always a pleasure to dine at Via Triozzi. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the wines very good. My favorite dishes are the prosciutto and figs, the lasagne (no ricotta but pure pasta, meat and tomato sauce plus of course parm), and the eggplant Parmesan which I only enjoy here, no breading, just delicious, and much lighter than those others. It's actually vegetarian but one doesn't even notice because there is so much flavor and umami in Chef Leigh Hutchinson's dish. The dishes are lighter and more modern than the usual American Italian fare. The ravioli are not lost in a thick and heavy Gorgonzola sauce, where the "blu"flavor dominates but are bathing in a light broth with just a hint of Gorgonzola, allowing the pears and walnuts to still contribute to the flavors. Again a dish I usually avoid, but at Via Triozzi it's a masterpiece. Service is very knowledgeable, friendly and fast. Ambience is vibrant without the loud music and low lights that other restaurants of this class seem to have bought into... who does not want to see the delicious food they are enjoying?! Trying out this new Italian hotspot! Heard lots about it being the must go-to place for Italian. It started out strong, fizzled in the middle, and ended strong. But I am getting ahead of myself. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and has an Italian old world feel. Definitely relaxed yet elevated. Not stuffy at all. Walking in you are welcomed by the area where fresh pasta or pastries are made. Nice touch. Sitting down, our waiter came up and explained the menu and how it is advised let them know if we plan to order the lasagne right away as it takes additional time. We went ahead and let him know while we looked over the menu. For appetizers, we ordered the Fiori di Zucca and Coccoli, were were told they were seasonal items. Both were absolutely delicious, especially the Fiori di Zucca. That would beat out any item at the Texas State Fair. 5/5 For main course, we ordered two pasta dishes: Lasagne and Cacio e Pepe. Let me preface this portion of the review by saying the pasta is handmade, and the texture of the pasta itself was perfect. The execution within the dishes left much to be desired. Also, at times both dishes had this mysterious "grit/sand" within random bites. It was similar to what you'd get in a shellfish dish when the shells weren't properly cleaned. Not sure why or where this grit came from, but we both experienced it. It was a turnoff. Cacio e Pepe: Arrived pretty much room temp/cold. Sauce was pretty thin and flavorless. The texture of the pasta itself was wonderful. However, I wouldn't recommend. 2/5 Lasagne (their claimed star dish): Came out dry. Each component tasted fine between the pasta and ragu. However, the béchamel was virtually nonexistent. It made for a dry dish that was missing that creamy element. 3/5 Cocktail: Signore Fico (aka Mr Fig/Cool) a bourbon-based cocktail. It was delicious. 5/5 Dessert: Cannolo Sbagliato - "broken" cannoli. Absolutely delicious. Perfection on a plate. Highly recommend. 5/5 Service started out strong but over time it seemed to get slower and slower. The 2nd round of cocktails sat at the bar for a good while, with our waiter nowhere in sight. It wasn't until I waved down someone to ask about it, did anyone go there. I'd give it another shot, but it's not a place that will be high on my return list. We made reservations in advance for a Saturday dinner. Glad we did because it was busy when we arrived. There aren't too many tables so definitely make a reservation if you don't want to wait. There is valet parking in front of restaurant, street parking, or lot parking throughout Greenville. The restaurant is cute inside and perfect for date night or girls night. Rustic Italian charm without pretentious vibes. We ordered the coccoli, meatballs (polpette), cacio e Pepe, and tagliatelle bolognese. Everything was delicious! We wanted to love it but we couldn't. The appetizer was the best part of the meal. Ricotta móntata, too much cheese for veggie ratio though. I ordered rose prossecco and came with NO bubbles. When asked, the bar tender told me the bottle was opened for 2 days. As a main, the lasagna was dry and had no bechamel, the pour a bunch of tomato sauce on it but the inside was dry. This is a BEAUTIFUL restaurant, that really takes an awkwardly shaped shotgun space and makes the most of it. The staff was also phenomenal! I sat at the bar and felt very welcomed and attended to. As far as food, I didn't love everything I ordered but I would be willing to come back and try more dishes. I tried the coccoli appetizer, whipped ricotta and zucchini appetizer, cacio e pepe spaghetti, lasagna and the tiramisu for dessert. The coccoli was interesting and something new for me. The fried dough was a bit dense and I didn't love the stracchino cheese that it was paired with but I've never had that type of cheese before so wasn't sure what to expect. They top the dish with large flaky sea salt which I loved. I likely won't order it again but it was an interesting adventure. The whipped ricotta was something I wouldn't normally order but this menu is very inventive. It does come with bread in addition to the zucchini and ricotta. I think it needed just a touch more salt, but it was fresh. I'm used to Italian being a little more indulgent and this was definitely on the lighter side. The cacio e Pepe was a bit disappointing. I was expecting a more traditional flavor of pecorino cheese and this didn't taste anything like the cacio e Pepe's I've had in the past. That said, it's not a bad tasting pasta dish. I did think the pasta could've been cooked a little longer but I know a lot of Italian spots shoot for true Al dente. The lasagna was okay in my opinion. It was very crispy and textured which I enjoyed but didn't have as much sauce or filling as I was expecting. I was told it's their best seller and it's not bad but I don't need to order it again. It was also a little spicy which I wasn't expecting. Surprisingly my favorite thing was the dessert. The tiramisu was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Via Triozzi still belongs and serves up some classics as well as some dishes you've never heard of! We came on grand opening night and we had no opening night disappointments. Service, ambiance, cocktails, and food were all on point. We started with a few various cocktails for our party of four. The barrel aged manhattan was quite tasty and it was nice that you could choose how you got it served -- including bar ware and ice! They have big ice if you are an ice snob like me! We ordered plenty of items for the four of us to share. We got the coccoli, polpetti, lasagna, and the chicken cacciatore. All the dishes were super good. The coccoli was something I've never had but the best way I can describe it is a do it yourself sandwich with amazing prosciutto and special cheese. Meatballs were juicy and tasty. The chicken was very tender and better than I expected. It came with some fast home made crispy potatoes. The lasagna was well executed as well. All portions were plenty big to share. We also opted for a tiramisu which was huge as well! Same size as the lasagna portion. I loved that the portion sizes were reasonable enough to share for a party of 4. Some of the other spots on lower Greenville serve non Texas sized portions but not via triozzi! Texas sized was on the menu! I've been hearing about Via Triozzi for months, so I'm really glad I was able to nab an elusive Saturday dinner reservation this past weekend for a group of 5 adults + 1 child! We arrived a little after 6 PM - it was super rainy but the valet stand at the front helped us quickly get out of the vehicle and hustle into the restaurant. The interior is really beautiful and helped set the tone for the whole night. All the staff we encountered were super helpful and great, from making sure the baby in our party was having a good time to explaining the menu and recommending wines. We ended up splitting a bunch of apps and starters and ordering every single pasta to share family style. I enjoyed all the apps we had in some shape or form, but the standouts were definitely the ricotta montata and the coccoli. The ricotta montata was so bright and flavorful and paired great with the pane bianco that came with it. I'm usually a summer squash hater so I was prepared to be ambivalent about the zucchini inclusion but I actually loved the dish so much. Definitely would return just for that. And the coccoli's crispy dough paired super well with the San Daniele prosciutto and the stracchino cheese. I believe this was my first time having stracchino and it was super creamy with a mildly tart bite; I'll definitely be seeking it out on my own for cheese boards and such in the future. The arancini was also great; I have to say it's the moistest and smoothest arancini I've had. I always love an arugula salad and the arugula and bresaola had the perfect balance of pepper from the arugula, tart brightness from the squeeze of lemon, and savory chew from the bresaola. The meatballs were denser than I usually like them, but they paired well with the pomodoro sauce they came swimming in. The noodles came out plated beautifully and I also really enjoyed those dishes. Some of the noodles were not quite as al dente as I enjoy them most, but the linguine al vongole was a perfect dish; would also come back just for it. Flavors were on point, rich without being overpowering, tart without being too sour, strong clam flavor without being too fishy, and the linguine was perfectly cooked. The ravioli was my second favorite; love a winter squash pasta, and the brown butter sage sauce complemented the ravioli super well. My husband and I aren't huge red sauce fans so the lasagne and the tagliatelle were mostly lost on us, but the tagliatelle was cooked very well! And the carbonara was solid; the sauce was slightly gritty, and more than a couple of bites would've been too rich for me, but the flavors were excellent. Sadly the fruit tart that many rave about was not on the dessert menu the night that we went; the tiramisu was an excellent consolation prize, but I guess we'll just have to come back to try the tart next time :) Looking forward to seeing how the menu changes with the seasons, and can't wait to potentially experience the rooftop area in the future! read more

My boyfriend and I came here for date night, and the first thing we noticed was the immaculate interior design! Great color choices, great ambiance. David, our server, was incredibly knowledgable on our menu choices, and was extremely helpful all evening long. Thanks for the great service! Our food was good! There is a lot of care and love that goes into the food, but it wasn't MIND-BLOWING. I had the spaghetti cacio e pepe (I'm not really into seafood, and I didn't want anything super heavy that night either). The flavors were rich, but perhaps maybe too rich for me? As for my boyfriend, he had the off-menu spaghetti carbonara, and he enjoyed it very much. It was savory and not too eggy as we have found in other pasta-centric places. Really disappointing experience. I made a reservation for 6:45pm & my friend was running late. At 7pm the server told me they needed our table at 8pm... I've never been at a restaurant where the reservation is only 1hr & 15mins. If it's going to be rushed, then don't let us book a 6:45 reservation. Later they came back and said they'd move us to the bar at 8pm. There we ordered a salad & 2 pastas. After the salad, the pasta took over 30mins to arrive and only after I asked if our food was coming. This was interesting since they were rushing us at the table and made it feel like they just wanted us to order more drinks. The pasta itself was good, but the sauce was too salty and we heard the couple next to us saying the same thing. We basically didn't eat the ragu & only the noodles. Just not a good experience overall, which is so sad since I've heard good things. Probably won't be back unless it's to get drinks at their rooftop. read more

I've been trying to visit since it opened and after finally snagging a reservation for last week, I understand why. - Atmosphere: When I stepped into Via Triozzi, I was blown away by the beauty of the restaurant. The ceilings go up to the second floor and the decor is simple, yet classy. The restaurant has a large bar in the front and then a smaller seating area in the back. The limited number of tables made sense with how hard it is to get a reservation! If you can't get in, try coming early to snag a seat at the bar. There is available parking in the lot next to Voodoo Donuts and valet out front. - Service: Our servers were very attentive and provided us with great recommendations. One even gave us the tip to eat our cacio e pepe first, as it's best fresh from the kitchen. - Food / drink: Via Triozzi has an eclectic, seasonal cocktail menu and a large selection of Italian wines by the glass and bottle. I had the bella citta cocktail, which was a great winter cocktail and fun mix of flavors. For our meal, the 4 of us decided to order family style so we could try more things. We started with the arancini, which was by far the best arancini I've had outside of Italy. We also had the ricotta montata, which was a group favorite. For our mains, we shared the lasagne, ravioli, and cacio e pepe. They were all delicious, but the lassagne was our favorite. This was all more than enough food for the 4 of us and we probably could've done with one less dish, but we were happy to get to try so much of the menu. Via Triozzi was fantastic. Patrick was our server and did a phenomenal job recommending wines and dishes throughout the night. Bravo! The Ricotta Montata was perfect. When I think of grilled zucchini, I often think of the sad vegetarian option presented to my vegetarian wife in many many restaurants, but the use of it here (and the execution) to compliment the whipped ricotta was perfect. Wife had the Butternut & Delicata Squash Ravioli with a brown butter parmesan broth, and even though it was unseasonably warm for a November day, it tasted like fall. The Tagliatelle with Bolognese was great, but my god the fucking Eggplant Parmigiana. The Eggplant Parmigiana is perfect. The Eggplant Parmigiana was an eye opening surprise. The Eggplant Parmigiana was buttery soft. The Eggplant Parmigiana was a perfect balance of richness, umami, sweetness and acidity due to the paper thin layers of Japanese eggplants (with an eggplant puree between each layer, so i'm told).
