DO NOT GO HERE! I never write a review but feel I must warn others. Victorian Nails is under new management as of March 2015. The salon is run by one individual by the name of Peter Nguyen. I made an appointment in the morning over the phone and when I arrived after work he had no idea what I was talking about. There were no other people in the shop and he was rushing like he needed to be somewhere. I asked him if he was in a hurry to leave because I could go somewhere else and he slapped me. I was getting acrylic French tip nails done for a wedding this weekend. This is the worst nail job I have ever received. I had opi nail polish on before and he didn't even remove it all before starting. He did not clip my nails, did not cut my cuticles, and was extremely rough managing to make me bleed multiple times. The prices are not posted anywhere. I was only there for 30 min but it was the biggest waste of time and money I have ever experienced. Word to the wise. Do not go here. read more

Great place that does just about anything for a very affordable price! Unless you go right when they open or late at night, I'd advise making an appointment. The place is very small with limited technicians so you could be waiting awhile. The quality of service is very impressive for what they charge, and every time I go I'm highly satisfied with my nails. I'd recommend!! Ok so this was my spot for 6 years!!!! 6 years!!! Mindy was fantastical! She was super sweet and prices are great!!! Recently Mindy left to "Vietnam" for 2 weeks then was extended for another 2-3 weeks. The first time I went and wasn't serviced by Mindy was when she was leaving so she had her replacement do my nails....ugh, they lifted within a week and were super thick. I ended up going to Kimi Nail a week later to get repaired. Two weeks go by and it's time for a fill....I call and Mindy is not there still on her "trip". I wanted to give them benefit of the doubt so I went it for a fill and I always get glitter acrylic on tips. The lady tells me to sit and starts to file off the glitter only. 2 girls walk in for an eyebrow wax and the lady stops my service and proceeds to wax these two girls. She then comes back to me and proceeds to do black glitter acrylic on my tips...another eyebrow wax comes in and she asks if it's ok if she stops to help her...I told her I needed to leave in 20minutes to pick my son up from kinder. She said she would be a few min. She comes back to me and finishes the black tips on one hand. It was time for me to pick up my son so she told me to pick him up but to leave my daughter and she'd watch her (what is this child trade? Hell to the no). I get my son and come back. She does the tips of my other hand then adds more acrylic to my nail bed and transfers me to another lady for filing. I had to ask her to go over my nails 2 times because they were thick. I finish after 2 hours not including the other hour I was there before my son. I get home and do a full nail inspection. They look like crap. Thicker than thick. The lines for my glitter tips looked like my son had done it. I called and asked for a refund or a fix. They told me to come back to fix. I did...after my husband came home to keep my kids. I go there and tell her they need to be thinner and the black tips need to be redone. She tells me they can't redo tips or they would charge for a full set but they said they would file. I ended up having them paint them. She caked so much nail polish on it bubbled. I left still unhappy. Two days later I went to my back up place and they removed them and gave me a beautiful brand new set for a great price. I was talking to them about Mindy and they are actually friends with her and told me she wasn't in Vietnam. She was actually at another shop!!! My gf said the same about her pedicure lady. She was told she went to Vietnam and found out she switched! Anyway...this place was 10 stars with Mindy and now is down to a 0 in my book. Sad. read more

Just went in today for the first time. I saw that their basic manicure was only 10 bucks. So I went in thinking I was going to grab a quick basic Mani pedi. I ended up getting basic gel mani, a spa Pedi w/callus remover, a 15 min neck & shoulder massage & a brow/lip wax. I seriously spent less on all that, than I have spent at some other more expensive places on just a mani & pedi alone. Absolutely nothing negative to say about this place, except maybe a little too much noise during my 15 min neck & shoulder massage. Oh, their brow wax was only $7 and I usually pay 10 to get them threaded, but I think from now on I'm going to come here and get them waxed. It was faster, less painful, and less expensive. The overall environment of the place isn't exactly like an upscale relaxing spa environment (it could look much nicer with some easy little decor updates, but they have excellent customer service, they'll give you a great deal & Sue or Susie was her name... She's the one who did all of my services & she didn't amazing job! My gel mani looks absolutely perfect. I'm going to make an appointment to come back to her for my next mani pedi. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5, is because it would be nicer if they had a separate room for the massage & waxing table instead of just a privacy curtain, but I'm still going back. read more

DO NOT COME HERE. I used to come here all the time my freshman year the ownership has changed and the guy who did my nails was in a rush and did a terrible job. Half of my nails are crooked and I had to ask repeatedly to keep getting them fixed. He then proceeded to cut my fingers in two different places and when I told him he said there was nothing he could do about it because it happens sometimes and still tried to charge me full price. Then he stopped halfway through when I complained and had me pay before he finished painting my nails. My nails still looked terrible and I had to go get them fixed somewhere else. They raised their prices as well. I do not recommend anyone come here, it's a complete rip off and they do a crap job. read more

Went in for a pedicure and was very unhappy with the results. Had to ask to have my nails cut twice, the worker lady seemed unfamiliar with how to perform a pedicure and I left with my nails/feet looking as if I never got a pedicure! Not sure how they are in business with the shoddy work, the employment law posters from a time when minimum wage was $5.15/hour, and the multiple flys buzzing around. Came in for a Spa pedicure, there were no available pedicurists to do it for me so the guy helped out. He barely did any scrub and the nail coat is absolutely TERRIBLE and messy. I am extremely disappointed and won't be coming back again. My toes look terrible. read more

My friends warned me about eventually getting an infection at this place and I never did. UNTIL NOW. I got the WORST infection on my thumb and it had to be cut open to remove the puss and infection that was soooo painful I couldnt use my hand. If you think this will never happen to you... Me and two friends went there for full sets and pedicures. The service was slow and once we finally were settled and being assisted, more customers started to come in and they began to rush. The finished product was definitely a rushed job.My nails were shaped poorly, my friends nails started to chip and come off the very next day. Great pricing but not worth it. I had acrylic nails and just after a few days two broke just by opening a small package. After a week they kept popping off. Also I made an appt but still was rushed?? Not sure what type of acrylic is used but for nails to be breaking just by doing simple tasks, not the best. Quality over quantity, and in this case sadly it did not meet my expectations. read more

I cant deny, the prices are rediculously good. But you certainly do get what you pay for. The wait for me has been from 5 minutes to over an hour. Its right by the college so the line could get a bit long. Its a cheap job for sure, but if your low on money and NEED some nail attention, Victorian Nails is your place. read more

This place is pretty good and very cheap. Im a college student and at home the nails come out the same and its $25 versus the $11 it was here. Tina talked to me for a little and remembered my friend from the one time she had been there before. I have been going to Victorian Nails every two weeks for the last six years to get my acrylics, and like many have mentioned, I ALWAYS made appointments with Mindy (who was amazing). Unfortunately, MINDY NO LONGER WORKS FOR THE NAIL SALON and my experiences there since she left have been HORRIBLE! I've had appointments with two different women and both did an extremely terrible job. (Not just complaining here- the appointment took over an hour, the nails felt lumpy, the shape was awkward, and nails were popping off within a week!) Trust me girls, walk down the block to Nail Expressions or try any other place! The poor job they did on my nails wasn't even half as bad as the way they treated me. (For example, when I asked how Mindy was doing, the woman doing my nails responded by aggressively telling me that Mindy didn't work there anymore and I needed to stop asking about her, and she said this in at least ten different ways before I finally had to raise my voice and say "I get it, I will never ask about Mindy again".) Saving $2-4 is NOT worth it for the amount of attitude you are going to get. Unfortunately, now you get what you pay for at Victorian Nails. I miss Mindy! read more

This has to be BY FAR the WORST GEL MANICURE I've ever had. There was so much wrong I don't know how to start. First there was a super aggressive man in there who I'm pretty sure is on drugs that I had no idea whatsoever what he was saying also he had no idea what the hell he was doing. Charged 5 dollars to cut my "cuticles" all he did was get the skin around my nail and not my actual cuticle(I can tell this by the absurd amount of nail polish he left on them as well) , also didn't use clean utensils and He didn't offer to clip my nails and i had to ask him to file my nails(which he failed at , they are extremely jagged and sharp and cotton was getting stuck in them and when I told him there were cotton strands he said it was only the gel and that its ok) he was super rough and rushing the entire time when there was no one else in there and the outcome is a complete joke! It looks like I painted my nails myself they don't look good at all. I have been here before and service was ok but after this experience NEVER AGAIN he needs to be fired I am almost positive he doesn't have his beauty license. WORST manicure ever!! I just moved to San Diego and wanted to try a new nail salon, and let me tell you this is not the place to go! The man who works there was yelling at me the whole time and slapping my hand away if I moved in it a position he did not like. The WORST part was half way through my acrylics he washes another persons feet, then immediately touches my hands after. I can not express how horrible my experience was because I was rushed and he helped someone else half way through my manicure. Just paid $25 for the worst pedicure of my LIFE! My nails were cut too short and very unevenly. The color looked like it was painted by a 1st grader. On top of that the tools were not sanitized, which is disgusting considering we're dealing with toe nails here. My friend who got a manicure said there was even left over skin on the cuticle cutters from someone else. Not only was the service terrible but the workers were loud, obnoxious, and straight up RUDE! Terrible atmosphere. And to think the man was upset I wouldn't tip him! I should've just walked out and refused to pay honestly. I use to come here A lot before new management. I came in for a pedi/mani with shellac and I will never go back. The guy who was working on my nails was so rough. He ended up cutting my finger. He didnt apologize, try to clean it or anything. He simply just kept working and charged me the full price. At first I didn't think the cut was that bad but It's still oozing after 3 days and it just looks gross. He didnt bother to shape my nails until I asked. He didn't make them even either. I have never been so aggravated with a nail salon. The massage chair wasn't working so I had to pay for a "spa" pedicure when i didn't even use the massage chair and then the ladies (plural because 2 people couldn't do a decent design). If you are a licenced cosmetologist you should have some go to designs and it was ghetto unfinished and messed up. I told her to just take it off and she didn't even fully take it off and painted over the design and you could see it underneath. Once again I had her take it off and repaint the damn nail polish color and it took another 20min to dry because the nailpoilish would not dry because of how many times they had to take off the polish and do it again. Beyond frustrating. total time spent in the nail salon = 2 hours and 45 minutes. unacceptable, at the very least they should have offered a discount or anything, but they didn't nor did they apologize for the time spent in the nail salon. I've been coming here for YEARS before new management came in because the old manager was my moms friend. If I had known this place was under new management I wouldn't have came here because I'm very picky about how my eyebrows are done. This place is now owned by a guy & I was really skeptical and hesitated when he told me to go back into the waxing bed, but I pushed my doubts aside and just went in cause I really needed to get them done for Coachella that weekend. My experience was similar as Lyna N's review; I am Vietnamese myself and I always tell whoever is doing my brows how I want them done IN Vietnamese so there wouldn't be any miscommunication. That's exactly what I did and the guy SEEMED like he understood. After an unnecessary amount of pressure he put on my face and carelessness when plucking my brows (he plucked my skin a few times), I literally almost lost it when I saw the result. My then thick eyebrows were now pencil thin and sparse. I paid and left angrily, sat in my car and screamed and cried because I WAS SO PISSED. It's been three months since and I'm still in the process of growing them back out. Long story short, DO NOT go here for your brows. He will ruin them. read more
