Off one of the Peak 8 superchairs, Vista Haus is a cool spot to stop once you get off of the lift for a quick bite to eat, a drink or to use the restroom. First, I appreciate the fact that there is a restaurant operating in the middle of the ski area -- that is pretty cool in itself. But, this place seems a bit dated and overpriced. My little soup combo which included a piece of cornbread and oyster crackers was $15 before tax which is crazy. I would have thought it was expensive at $10. Everyone was super nice, there are plenty of tables in to eat, very small bar which I would expand if I were them. Overall, I'd stop here again when skiing for some heat and a break. read more

Trying to locate a phone we left at the Vista Haus but trying to get a number or a person to talk to about this has been horrible. We took the Ski lift up on Friday, here it is 4 days and the phone has still not made it down to Lost & Found. Nor am I able to contact the restaurant. The number on Yelp is not a working number and Vail Resorts has yet to help me locate a good number. We have been able to track the phone to this location so we know the phone is up there. I have been very frustrated with the Vail customer service. read more

Come here for the views, but definitely don't stay here for the food! Vista Haus is perched up on an amazing mountain in an amazing ski town with amazing ski/aprés ski food options. Having said that, there's really no reason to waste your stomach real estate (and your money) eating here. The lodge restaurant at Peak 9 and T-Bar are both better on-mountain options, or you could just take the good ol' Four O'Clock Run back to the Breck Connect gondola and eat in town when you're done skiing for the day :) read more

We have been visiting Breckenridge for years and this is always one of favorites for lunch when out on the moutain. The views are incredible, there's plenty of space for lunch even during peak times and lots of restrooms on each floor. The food is great! Your typical ski lodge food of soups, stews/chilis, burgers, chicken fingers, salad, sandwiches etc... which is all you really need. Very kid friendly! It is a tad more expensive to eat on the mountain than in the ski village, but think how they have to lug everything up there and Breckenridge is one of the nicest ski towns so you know what you are getting into when you book your stay in the area. If you are able to sit outside, do it! The warm sunshine paired with "stick to your ribs" food after skiing all morning is one of the best feelings. read more

Not cheap but worth not having to go off mountain to get some fuel! Also has alcoholic options whoch is awesome. Food wasn't bad, got a barbecue bowl & chili/cheese fries and was pleasantly surprised. Best part, jumped directly back on the mountain. 100% worth the stop read more

I ordered a bowl of chili ($16) and as the lady was scooping it she noticed a large piece of plastic in the spoon. She pulled the plastic out of the bowl, turned to the other server and said "look I found it" then handed me the bowl she pulled the plastic from. I turned it away and she started trying to tell me I had to take it because she served it. I touched the plate so she couldn't serve it to anyone, then gave it back. I will not be eating here again. And I won't be eating chili at any Vail resort. read more

This lodge is near the top of the mountain, and the views prove it. It's a great place to stop off for a bite, but keep in mind the altitude difference from the bottom of the mountain. Like a noob on my first day out to CO from the east coast, we decided to eat lunch up here, and it didn't go so well. Regardless, others I was with enjoyed the chicken tenders and the Mexican bowl. I was really happy with gatorade myself, but there are beer options as well. I would definitely recommend checking this place out at some point while at Breck, but maybe not the first day if you are adjusting to high altitudes. read more

It's a place to eat in the middle of a mountain... yup - does the job! It is expensive? heck yeah, but how do you think they get the food and the workers up there? But it's relatively easy to get to, make sure you "park" down the slope, since the food etc is down stairs, why work that hard going down to eat and up to get back out to your gear! I got the chili - way late in the day - like 2pm - it was stick to your ribs and kept me full far into the night! Great views, easy seating, easy trash tossing and even hooks on the chair for your helmets or jackets - bonus! read more

The stuff is pretty darned good food for a cafeteria in the middle of a mountain. As with anything EPIC, make sure you've first consulted with your financial advisor before you enter. This place is pricey, but can you really put a price and the best chili cheese dog you will ever have in your entire life? I dont think so. Order the chili cheese dog and then watch as they artisinally construct a perfectly cooked beef hotdog in a delicious soft bun and then try not to drool as they gracefully ladle their beef chilli and lather it with white hot cheese. The cheese will melt and then create a perfect gooey sticky package to shove in your face. Use the fries for any chili cheese cleanup and thank me later! read more

Two stops this week. Tuesday was chicken strips basket and a bowl of chili with 2 Gatorades. $38+ food was okay. Stop two was Thursday for lunch. Chicken strip basket with waffle fries and a classic cheeseburger with two Gatorades. $40+. The waffle fries were very good, the chicken average, the burger bun fell apart before the first bite. $13.50 for a cheeseburger and a dried out bun. This place used to have very good food. Now that Vail runs it, they have ruined it just like Ten Mile Station. Crappy expensive food. I'm going to the store for my PB&J. read more

The views are the main (and only) reason for coming here. The food is standard ski-cafeteria fare but double and triple the prices you'd expect to pay. 2 people having a small lunch with 2 beers... $50-60. If you eat here, I'd recommend getting the meatball sub. It's the only item that really looked good and is made to order. read more

Expensive, yes, but gorgeous view. If you are able to fit food in your pockets, i would recommend packing a sandwich and some trail mix and only stopping here for drinks (liquids weigh you down a lot more when skiing or boarding and can also spill in your pocket which will make you cold.) The starbucks is not actually a full service starbucks, so don't order anything more complex then a latte because they will have no idea how to make it. Unlike 10 mile station, the bathrooms here are clean and there is ample space to store skis and boards outside, even at peak lunch hours. Also close to several major chairlifts so Vista Haus serves as a good meeting spot on the mountain. Keep in mind with the food, folks, you are paying for convenience. Yes, I would rather not spend 4$ on a cup of black coffee, but I am also not going to carry one in my pocket, after all. read more

This is what a true ski lodge should be. Cafeteria style and laid back. No food on the mountain is cheap but we love this atmosphere over the "new" places at the base of Peak 7 and 8. So many choices but we opted for the Veggie chili (EXCELLENT) and a chicken burrito (huge). Between the 2 of us, we could hardly finish. You can't beat the view either! read more

Convenient when you need a break from the slopes but try to avoid the boring and expensive cafeteria style food.

We had the buffalo chicken tenders and Parmesan fries. YUM! The chicken was so tender and perfectly cooked, and the Parmesan cheese fries were bursting with flavor. My boyfriend claims the chicken tenders are the best he's ever had. Very good cafeteria food, we were pleasantly surprised. read more

Vista Haus is resort owned and charges nearly double compared to the privately ownered restaurant at Peak 9. Today at Vista Haus I ordered soup in a bread bowl and a beer for $26. Vista Haus has decent food. Fairly good for a ski lodge. I enjoyed both my Mac and Cheese, Rosemary sea salt French fries, and chicken tenders with waffles fries. Much to my dismay however there were no chicken pot pies. Tragically, the customer service was sub par. The first day the employees seemed unable to provide trays to carry food. The second day I dined here, there were, much to my surprise, trays available for everyone!!!!! Unfortunately it came to my attention on this day that the only fountain drink size is jumbo. They also do not have the minimal decency to provide tops or straws for these drinks and if I am mistaken about this then they must put their stock off to the side to prevent people from wasting their precious plastic straws and soda tops. If it were not for the scenic mountains and sheer convince of the Vista Haus I am not sure I would have returned. read more

Beautiful views mid way on Peak 8. Ample outdoor and indoor seating, clean restrooms, good food and beer selection. Crazy crazy crazy expensive. We spent $25 on a couple of waters, chips, and a protein bar. read more

For a ski lodge in the middle of the mountain the food is pretty good and prepared while you wait. This place is better than modis in town!
