I came here on a Saturday around 2pm for lunch and my bf and doggy and we all had a wonderful experience! They had valet parking, there was no wait, and they had outdoor seating. Everyone had excellent customer service skills and we will be back because of that!! For food we had the wild mushroom truffle flat bread, burratta salad, and french fries!!! The flatbread was out of this world. It had the perfect crunch!! For drinks we had skinny margaritas and they were super fresh and great!! This is a place I never miss when I'm in the Malibu area. I get out here on business a couple times per year and if I'm within 45 miles of the place I go. The owner is great and the wait staff too. The food is phenomenal. I always start with the ahi tuna Tartare. It's always fresh and delicious. We need up getting the butter lettuce salad crisp and tasty. Calamari was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of breading. Ordered pizza and topped off with triple berry crumble for dessert. Saw this place on Yelp and stopped in on our way to the airport in LA. Loved the family vibe. The server, the support, and the manager all worked so well together. Then there was the pepperoni pizza - I told my wife it might have been the perfect pizza. Light and crispy on the outside, but soft and a bit of chew to the inside. Perfectly cooked. We had a wonderful dinner for 15 old friends on a Friday night, and everything was wonderful. We had pre-ordered an assortment of appetizers which were all delicious - shishito peppers (always good), calamari (crispy and tender), octopus (excellent), meatballs, a mushroom flatbread (really popular). My husband and I shared the seafood linguine w/ assorted seafood in a light pink sauce w/ fresh tomatoes, basil and arugula, and it was amazing. My friend always gets the Spaghetti Bolognese, and it looked great. A couple people got pizza, and had the chance to try some leftovers the next day, and it was really good too. There are very few restaurants where I consider myself a "regular" (meaning, that I frequent). The number of restaurants grows smaller still when you remove chains and fast food joints. And that number becomes only one when you consider restaurants over 75 miles from my house. That one restaurant is V's*. V's champions rustic, simple dishes done perfectly. Most of V's menu is straightforward: pizzas, flatbreads, steaks, and pastas. Even the list of ingredients for each dish is rather simple (mushrooms, sauces, types of pasta. etc.). However, each dish is truly transformative and more then the sum of its parts. For example, the mushroom flatbread with truffle oil is probably under ten ingredients in total, but the way they execute it--spreading the mushroom and cheese evenly, putting just a slight char on a few of the pieces of flatbread, and kissing the top with truffle oil--makes a simple dish into an unforgettable dish. What's more surprising than V's food quality are its prices. Despite being in one of the smallest and wealthiest cities in Southern California, the prices range from about $25-55, with most of the popular items being in the $30-40 range. Compared to other restaurants on PCH in Malibu, these price are reasonable, if not cheap! In addition to the food, the drinks and wine selection are both stellar. The spicy margarita is my favorite, and has been the favorite of many who I have taken to V's (likely over 30 people now). Unsurprisingly, the service is just as good as the food and drinks. The waitstaff has largely remained consistent over the years and I see many of the same faces when I return. Likewise, their parking has improved over time with an on-site valet in the evening (that takes cards)! Put simply: V's has everything that a small, coastal restaurant should strive to have: amazing cooking, great drinks, and friendly staff. If only they could move 70 miles closer to my house! *This paragraph is purely informational and personal and holds no real place in the review: I originally went to V's years ago for a work event, returned the day my wife and I found our wedding venue, again when we paid our deposit on the venue, again for our rehearsal dinner, and now again for our six month anniversary. I just want to say this is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. My husband and I love coming here after hiking topanga canyon. The food is delicious! Me and my husband came to celebrate our anniversary here on New Year's Eve. Made a reservation a couple days prior and there was no issue like other near by places. We arrived a little before our reserved time and was pleasantly greeted and seated right away. The place has a romantic, cozy vibe and was the perfect place for us to celebrate. I keep asking myself why we haven't tried this place sooner. It has a super cool look from the curb. I've driven by 1000 times. I've dined across the street and next-door repeatedly. But for some reason V's just escaped me and I am very regretful about that because it's truly a gem. I love the interior the bar is long and narrow. We didn't end up eating at the bar because we were a party of three and we had a lovely seat and table that had extremely comfortable chairs. That seems like an odd Observation but I find comfortable chairs at restaurants are not a given. It kind of has a country club feel or perhaps a golf course restaurant feel to it. Our server was super bubbly and very attentive. She gave wonderful descriptions of the specials which was helpful. We ordered a ton of food and frankly I can't even recall at all because we were also engrossed in a really great conversation with a friend we hadn't seen for a while due to Covid. But this much I know - we will certainly be back. The food really surprised me and it was really delicious. The men Subsequently ordered two desserts and raved about both of them. Hands down amazing! This is my first time dining in Malibu and it will not be my last. Service was amazing. The owner was even there to greet us upon arrival. The tables were spread out more than 6ft. We felt very comfortable while dining. It was a little windy and they had two heaters over us to keep us nice and toasty. We had the butternut squash soup and the Steak Special with a vegetable risotto. The food was delicious. We will definitely be back. My husband and I ate at V's last night for the first time. We were actually on our way to a different restaurant, but V's caught our attention, so we pulled over to look them up and their menu sounded delicious, so we couldn't help ourselves. We also appreciated that their website had COVID info that automatically pops up at the bottom of each page, which made us feel more comfortable. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. They were very polite and accommodating when we called to see if they had a table available, since we had decided to go at the last minute. We were seated right away when we arrived and the staff were wearing both masks and face shields. We also had our dog with us, and the staff brought her some water within minutes of us being seated. Our waitress, Kaitlin, was very kind and helpful throughout the meal and her top notch service made our dinner that much more enjoyable. Last but certainly not least, the food was absolutely phenomenal. There was not one thing that we ate that was even just "good." Our favorite was the truffle mac and cheese. I think it was the best mac and cheese I've ever had! We also ordered squash and carrot soup, eggplant parmesan, portobello fries, margherita pizza, lamb chops, and chocolate espresso creme brûlée. We recommend all of it! V's truly has it all- safety measures in place, friendly service (for people and four-legged-friends alike), and VERY tasty food. We will definitely be back for more. Like most restaurants in Malibu, you are definitely paying a premium. I'd say V's is on the more reasonable side for the area, but it is still expensive. The ambiance is nice and interior has a dark, upscale, relaxed feel. Gustavo did a great job taking care of us. For appetizers we had the chopped salad, the calamari, and the truffle mac n cheese. I thought the chopped salad was the best thing we had all night. The other two were fine, but pretty standard takes on each dish. For entree I had the spaghetti bolognese which I thought was solid. It had a nice flavor but was pretty simple as it was meat, pasta, and some vegetable garnish. My GF got the stuffed shells, which I thought were kind of overpriced. I also tried the skirt steak and I thought it was alright. For dessert we got the berry crumble, which was really delicious. All in all a solid experience in an upscale area. read more
