I got the Italian Sandwich and made it a combo that came with chips and a drink. Other side item options are available including numerous Soup Selections. As you're standing at the counter do not get distracted by their ginormous cookies staring at you with their sweet voices saying "eat me" because you will need some time scouring their menu and figuring out how not to order it all. Full or not please get a cookie. Like I'm not asking you too I'm TELLING you too. If you get nothing else at this Deli get a Cookie. A great deli on Broadway that serves delicious food with excellent service. Love the location right by Brackenridge Park, so very convenient for grabbing some food for an impromptu picnic. A source for excellent sandwiches, soups, salads, sides and desserts. There are combination specials and daily specials. There are also option for vegetarians. This place is packed during lunch and even though the line looks intimidating the service is quick. My favorite sandwiches are; Wayne's Excellent Hoagie (Ham, Salami, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, Crushed Red Pepper, Italian Dressing, Mayo On A Hoagie Roll), Turkey Avocado Wrap (Turkey, Avocado Swiss Cheese, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Mayo, wrapped In A Big Spinach Flour Tortilla) and Southwest Roast Beef (Sliced Roast beef With Jalapeno Cream Cheese, Purple Onions, Lettuce. The food is phenomenal. No complaint there. I've been going here for years and found myself not going as much anymore. The last 2 times I went, the portions have been significantly cut in half when I choose the pick 3 even though the price has increased. This goes for to go orders and for dine in. I didn't wanna believe it so I went in a second time and it was the same thing. I used to go in a few times a month now it's maybe once every few months. This place is delicious! Situated in a small building off of Broadway just north of the Doseum, W D Deli is a real hidden gem! I've worked on broadway for a little more than 6 months now and today was my first time stopping by this place! If it hadn't been recommended by someone in my office, I'm not sure that I ever would've have seen it much less tried it out! It is really nice on the inside of the building and was very clean! It was lunch time and very busy and I didn't see a single dirty table! As soon as someone left, their staff was quick to clean the table for someone new! They also have seating upstairs and outside if downstairs gets a little packed. The food at this place was absolutely delicious! Since it was my first time I did try a couple of different things so I could sample a little of everything and there wasn't a single item that I didn't finish! My order was their specialty Hoagie and it was amazing! Deciding between a hot or fresh sandwich was probably the hardest part of the experience so I convinced my girl friend to get the hot Italian Panini. (WHICH WAS ALSO AMAZING). My sandwich was VERY fresh and the bread was soft but structured! It held everything together very well and even with the mayo, the tomatoes, the Italian dressing, etc. it never got soggy! For my side, I opted for the Tortilla Soup. Now the soup was a nice and thicker consistency than some tortilla soups and they added some chips into it which gave it a nice crunch! It was hearty with the chicken and cheese but also nice and filled with great flavor! It wasn't really spicy but it was PACKED with flavor! The last thing I tried was the ooey gooey lemon bar and the one of their many cookie options and they were both delicious. While the lemon bar was a little sweet for my taste, you could tell it was a hot selling item! Both the woman in front of me and the man behind me ordered one as well. My entire time at the restaurant was probably 30-40 minutes from walking in to leaving. The food was prepared fast but was nice and fresh! If you have a chance give it a try! I have been to this place twice. The first time I had a horrible experience. Over the weekend I started having a pregnancy craving for a meatball sandwich. I saw this place sold meatball subs on Thursdays, and was willing to wait almost a week to get my craving fulfilled. I was extremely disappointed, and angry when after ordering, and waiting about 10-15 minutes, I was told "the meatballs were not ready yet and it would be a while." I had to get to work, and I could not wait. I decided to cancel the meatball sandwich. For a deli, to not have certain items ready a few hours after opening, especially their sandwich of the day is extremely disappointing, and unprofessional. I had a better experience the second time I went there since it was the weekend, so I had time to wait, which is why I'm giving them higher than 1 star. I ordered an egg salad sandwich with pasta salad and it was delicious. I also did their social media posting and received a free chocolate chip cookie which was also delicious. read more

W D Deli is a great lunch spot if you're looking to avoid the downtown crowd. It's conveniently located behind Brackenridge Park, next to Half Priced Books. It's easy to miss if you're just driving by but once you find it, you'll quickly realize what a hidden gem it is. The inside is quaint and homelike with a hodgepodge of pictures and decorative plates on the walls. The tables are scattered throughout the first and second floors and there is a nice outdoor patio that looks on to Broadway. Ordering at the counter towards that back is quick and easy and your food is brought out to you in a decent amount of time. There are little packs of trivia cards on each table which make great conversation starters. Outside of the atmosphere, the food at W D Deli is amazing. I have yet to find a soup, sandwich, or wrap that I don't like. The broccoli cheddar soup is a bit thicker of a consistency than I'm used to but it's still really yummy. This time around, I got the club sandwich and it did not disappoint. My coworker got a wrap with chips and she loved them both. If you still have room left, be sure to grab one of their hommade cookies. They're to die for! read more

This is a cute, local deli with wonderfully fresh food! We stopped in for lunch to enjoy some Italian paninis and soups. The panini was perfectly crunchy on the outside and the meats were amazingly tender on the inside. I enjoyed a cup of broccoli/cheese soup as my side. I liked how they provided nice, chunky pieces of broccoli in the soup. It was really tasty and fresh! My husband enjoyed the chicken tortilla soup as his side. He described it at warm and hardy. We will definitely be back to enjoy another lunch date at WD Deli! read more

Found this place after visiting the Doseum and I am glad I did! I love a good deli! I ordered the turkey club which was amazing. I did nix the mustard though. For a side I got the pasta salad. I just want to caution people to watch employees when they make your sandwich. A few years ago I ordered a Reuben and watched the person as he brought my sandwich together. So far so good. But it turned out that this same person was the cashier. He was handling money: dollar bills that other people have handled before turning them over in payment. I made a comment, mentioning that I thought what he was doing was unhygienic. At this he started yelling, arguing that there was nothing wrong with alternately touching bread for a sandwich and touching money. Absolutely love this place! I was gluten free the first time I came here and felt comfortable ordering from their menu since they have multiple GF options and their GF bread is so tasty. I've since learned gluten isn't my problem, but still go here when I can because their cookies and vegetarian sandwich are to die for. Most vegetarian sandwiches are really just lettuce and a slice of cheese, but these guys load up the veggie sandwich and it has a good variety as well. We ate here around 1pm on a Saturday and there was a small crowd. Shortly after our food came, a large group came in and sat upstairs. The cashier was very short and seemed quite bothered that we were existing in her space, let alone attempting to place an order. Every other employee was pleasant! There was a large selection of BIG cookies and some cakes with gluten free options. There seems to be options for vegetarians and the cashier didn't seem phased by customization requests. We ordered at the counter and took a number on a wooden spoon to a table of our choice. We got our food in less than 10 minutes. I ordered a coffee and the turkey club with a side of chips. I subbed out the mayo and cheese for avocado. I was pleasantly surprised that the bread was not heavily buttered or oiled, rather just toasted plain. There was a good amount of avocado mashed in place of the mayo and cheese. It came with a not-so-impressive pickle spear. We arrived just as they were brewing a fresh pot of coffee- it was extremely bitter and deemed undrinkable by a self proclaimed coffee lover. The atmosphere is casual and cozy. There are games available and trivia cards on every table which were impossibly difficult. Outdoor seating with umbrellas are out front. Note that the front patio is right on Broadway, an iron fence covered in heavy vines and plants separates guests from the sidewalk and traffic noises. read more

We have shopped at half price book store for years so it surprised me when this placed popped up. I thought it was an art workshop, but I am glad we found it. Best homemade macadamia nut cookies!! I had their Cobb salad and it hit the spot, plus I stole a turkey sandwich from my husband, delicious!!! I am not a fan of swiss due to the smell and strong taste but it was muted next to their juicy turkey.
