This review is mostly on service received at this location. Came here for breakfast with my son and I'm sure where to start. The food I ordered was delicious. Breakfast TBone Steak. No issues there. But as I mentioned earlier the service received left no Desire to ever come back. When I walked into the restaurant I sat myself down which is what you do when you walk in to the Waffle House. Once seated, I looked at the menu for about 5-10 minutes. I then hear 2 waitresses discussing who would be taking which table. Mine vs the one party seated behind me. Once they decided who would take over which table, I had Sonia. Let me just say Sonia has/ or had no waiting manners. She was short and has no ppl skills. She gave me my tab before bringing my sons complete order. My son had ordered a waffle and when I reminded her, she came back with a super toasted waffle and asked my son if a well done waffle was ok. Like really??? I find this to be really rude. You forget to bring my sons complete meal yet remember to give me the tab. And when you bring the waffle you bring it super toasted and almost burned? Never again would I sit at a table where she is the waitress. Oh! & If it were up to me I wouldn't have tipped at all. She gave me my tap before bringing our complete order (meal). To the other reviewer: Oh Jesus, it's a Waffle House. You don't come here expecting fine dining, or even spotlessly-clean dining, or even very clean silverware. It's a dive. It's a chain of dives, marked by pretty-incredible-greasy breakfast food which is best served either a) still drunk or b) with a fantastic hangover. The servers (which are almost always the dishwashers, the cooks and the cashiers as well) are overworked and underpaid. It's not classy and you shouldn't expect classy. Expect greasy food, gloriously trashy food that is served, unabashedly, with a fair amount of grit. Don't knock it. It is what it is and it's great for what it succeeds in. I mean what can I say about waffle house, other then the fact that its, well, Waffle House. You have to come here expecting to get the basic version of what you are ordering, which dont get me wrong will still be tasty. They have the very basic diner food of eggs and bacon, to burgers. The oven kitchen is great yk see the cooks at work. Whenever I go to ANY WH I am not disappointed. The service at this location was lacking, not sure if she was new or what. We asked for salsa for the eggs, which see didnt even know what that was (no joke she didn't know what salsa was!). Then I asked for butter and my friend asked for ketchup, both of which took two times of us asking to get. Then I asked for a water and Pepsi, and the manager came after to apologize that we never got that. She did offer it to-go, but as we are on bikes it would not work. So, I'm not one to go to Waffle House and expect 5 star service but I'd like at least basic human interaction, which we didnt get. The waitress said maybe 5 words to us the entire time. She was on the phone the entire time. Food came out quick and was good. On our way to the cash register we saw the cook handle a raw steak, without gloves and then put toast in the toaster, put his hands in the hashbrowns and then start some eggs. I see this place every time I come to Tucson. Finally I was curious... did they serve anything besides waffles? Did they have fried chicken and waffles? I peered in. Nobody was in there except the waitress, the cook, and another helper. No menu on the door so I had to walk in. This place's menu is like a Denny's. Unfortunately no fried chicken and waffles. I tried the porkchops with mushroom sauce, eggs, toast and hashbrowns. A strange choice for dinner, but it looked the most interesting. It was okay, probably 2 stars for the food... anything more would be generous. When I told my colleagues of my curious choice for dinner they all groaned. I still ended up getting my own straw, and the waitress was very grumpy when we said separate checks, which I never understand, since sep checks always seems to end up meaning more tips for servers! Anyhow, never been to a WaffleHouse before - and it was not for lack of opportunity. Got the BLT. I'm not all that big on breakfast foods. The hash browns tasted good - not many ways you can mess up fried potatoes! The bacon tasted like hamburger. Must have used old grease. 5 stars to the excellent waiter named Wayne. 2 stars for the food. 0 stars for the cook. I had never been to a Waffle House before and I passed by this place thinking that they sold chicken and waffles. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted by the waiter. I'm not really a fan of breakfast food, but this was my best option after looking at the menu. I ordered the first meal on the menu which came with a waffle (of course), 2 eggs any style, toast, and grits for $7.05 + $1.40 if you want coffee added. There's a wide variety of waffles you can choose from (chocolate chip, apple cinnamon, pecan, etc...) so I went for the pecan. Now for the best part... In this restaurant you can see the cooks making the food. I witnessed the cook prepare the entire meal WITH NO GLOVES ON! How stupid can someone be to prepare a meal with no gloves on, but especially while the customer is watching! When the food was brought to me, I told them to remake it with gloves on. The waiter, Wayne, happily replaced the meal for me. The grits were atrocious, the eggs were... eggs, and the waffle was delicious. Yes, their waffles are like eggo waffles, but the other items on the menu are pretty good. On weekends they have Freddy the Greeter and the service is so friendly and good. The waffles by themselves are dry, but if you add syrup or strawberry / blueberry filling (apparently they're discontinuing the fillings) it tastes delicious. Their sausage patties are cooked perfectly. I was also shocked that the patty wasn't dry, because normally sausage patties are dry & hard. This may be odd that I noticed, but their greeter (Freddy) was very well mannered. Yes, greeters have to be polite, but he seemed more genuine with his gestures. Had a great experience on an early Saturday morning after dropping a friend off at the airport. My service was very friendly, although a trifle slow even though the restaurant was nearly empty. I went with a pretty standard breakfast - waffle, eggs, hash browns, toast - and it was just a tasty, solid, American breakfast. Very satisfying and all for under $8. All I can say is I was amazed at the service at this location. Freddy was beyond amazing. He took the time with each and everyone of us waiting for a table. Then after people left he got right on helping the wait staff get the tablets ready for those of waiting. I don't know why anyone would go here for anything other than breakfast......and then complain about it. This is a kitchy greasy spoon restaurant that serves classic straight-up breakfasts. Their waffles are fantastic, but the only thing I usually get is the hash browns: scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, topped, diced, and peppered with two eggs over easy on top. We ordered 5 meals, to go, from this location. Our bill was over $50! We did not receive several of the items we ordered. Missing 2 waffles, 2 orders hash browns and an order of grits. We called the restaurant to let them know and request they prepare our missing items and we will come back to get it. The employees on the phone argued with us as to what we actually ordered, after several minutes of back and forth they finally agreed to make our missing food. Upon arrival to the store we were told the manager had gone on break?! And that we needed to pay another $9 for the missing items. Of course the "manager" was in hiding on a break and the employee at the store level had zero power to make it right. They just lost not only the $9 bucks but 5 customers and each of their entire families and many friends. We will NEVER go to this location again. Nothing stood out from this place except the excessively damp bathroom. I needed a drink refill and the server sat in the corner with her phone; we couldn't get her attention. My sister's chicken sandwich was raw and when we brought it to the server's attention she tried telling my sister it was cooked thoroughly...yeah seriously stop you're not the one eating it. The cook then cooked it for longer, but get this he didn't remove the chicken from the sandwich. He laid the whole sandwich on it's side on the grill. They give you no other choices of flavored syrups for being called a Waffle House. The tables are small and they give you way too many plates to even set down! We went in, loving Waffle House from growing up in Michigan. We took our kids on a Friday morning for brunch; my husband was craving French toast, and although it wasn't on the menu, the cook was more than happy to throw it together for him! That made his day, and mine. She was gracious and lovely about it, and everyone went out of their way, something we didn't expect or require. I just had the potentially worst customer experience here I've ever had in my life. I've been here before and the food has been good and the prices very reasonable. Today I came in for breakfast and ordered breakfast with ham. I was told they were out (it's all frozen right now) and asked if I would like to substitute bacon or sausage. Since I'm on a restricted diet I was a bit frustrated with this but decided to just go without. When my meal came out, I could clearly see ham cooking on the grill. I then inquired as to why I couldn't have any ham yet I saw it right there. The server proceeded to get into an argument with me in front of the kitchen staff and customers. We love the Waffle house we go a few times a week. We have gone day and night and have gotten fast, friendly service. But tonight we went and it was the worst. We pull in and park and the cook is outside talking with another person on the side of the building. No biggie, we go in and sit down and nobody greets us or anything. Then about five minutes go buy and some women comes from the other side of the place she doesnt even come all the way to us and yells rhat they will be with us in a minute. Mind you there are two other customers in the place. The women gets coffee for the guy at the counter and stands there bs-ing with him. Then the cook comes in with the women he was talking to outside and she looks like she just rolled out of a dumpster. Still nobody has come over to us. We sit for another minute or two then webget up to leave and the cook yells across to us that he was just on his way to help us. Since when does the cook take the orders?
