I would give this Covid cesspool negative stars if possible. Horrible service from incompetent management running the place. Groups without reservations being sat over folks with reservations because they they know the staff. No social distancing protocols or requirements. Bathrooms and surrounding areas are filthy. Food was under cooked and served on dirty plates. The entire place should be condemned and taken off the map. Hopefully the health department will intervene and save future visitors from going. My husband and I decided to give this place a try and it didn't meet our expectations. Our chef did a good job with his performance but the seasonings wasn't it. I ordered the lobster, steak and shrimp combo and my food was overly salted and lacked flavors. We thought the garlic fried rice was going to have actual fresh garlic on it but it seems like they just use butter with garlic in it. It also seems like they season all their food with salt, pepper and soy sauce and that's too much sodium for me especially when I ate my vegetables. I definitely got hit with the saltiness lol. I got the bacon fried rice and the bacon was already cooked. A little bit of the bacon oil is what makes the fried rice so good, imo. For $8.xx it could've been better. We also ordered a sushi roll and the cream cheese was way too thick and the roll was too big. Didn't even finish it nor packed it home. Came in on a Tuesday afternoon, it wasn't busy at all so we were seated promptly at an empty table, but we were seated at the very corner. It didn't bother me at first bc I figured there was a larger party coming in to fill the seats. As the table began to fill, another party of 3 came in and they were seated on the other corner of the table so the middle section of our table was completely empty and our chef was already coming to prep our meal. So I took the initiative to move in to the vacant seats for a better view. We were only given a mini menu. So I assumed we were only allowed to order from that since they didn't offer us the full size one. We obviously came for the teppenyaki dinner. The prices were very reasonable bc we came during their happy hour time. Can't complain about the price bc it's a lot cheaper than other teppenyaki places I've been to, but it wasn't the best. Although our server was very nice, he wasn't very interactive with our table. We ordered our steaks rare and medium but the rare steak came out medium, and the medium steak came out well. The shrimp on the other hand was cooked great. It wasn't over cooked and the dipping sauce made it even more enjoyable. the veggies and the fried rice were overly sauced with the teriyaki. So it ended up being a little to salty/sweet for my taste. I can see where this place has potential to be better. Or maybe I just came on an off day. I had an amazing time celebrating my new job with my family. Sun-Tea was our chef. He was funny and personable. Although we have seen the routine numerous times, he was still entertaining. Aaron, our server, was great as well. Constantly coming to check on our table to see if we needed anything. Refilling our waters before we could even ask. Mind you I went on a Tuesday night so I was surprised to receive such great service. My favorite part is doing sake bombs with Sun-Tea and Aaron. The food was excellent. Wasabi is like a neighborhood Benihana's for a more reasonable price, better service, and a lot more food. Been coming here for years and it's always been a solid experience......until this last time. We came with a HUGE group. Like 20+ people and took up four tables. Maybe it was because half the people at my table got sushi but it was the most rushed hibachi experience of my life. There were no tricks, no cute fancy hearts or volcano, NOTHING. The chef literally prepared our meal in around 10 minutes and that was that. Luckily our other tables had good service, just was disappointed since we had people from out of town and who had never experienced hibachi before...and honestly I feel like they still haven't. And to top it off, I was the honoree. They did bring me a dessert at the end of it, but I just don't get why the hibachi part was so lackluster. BUT ITS MAGIC! Anyways. Now I live in the Bay Area and NO ONE has this sauce. Also all the food quality is mediocre which is sad. I LOVE HIBACHI and it is one of the things I miss on the east coast. So finally I was yelping the area and found this place. I saw a photo that might possibly be white sauce? I had to take the chance. today i came in and everytime i have kenny its honestly so underwhelming and the service is rather upsetting; for the price were paying for these meals especially with the prices being inflated recently id rather have a different chef whom actually seems to enjoy the work they are doing. he doesnt speak at all, just cooks, and during the actual service he only really does two tricks ever which.. is fine i guess but at least chat with us if ur gonna do less work than the other chefs do...... he didnt even ask us if the foods okay or if we need anything before just walking off after he finished.. the steak, rice, soup n salad taste good as always tho just so u lot know at least, the chicken was not very good though and i didnt get compensated for that in any way so that kinda stinks., their sauces are amazing and the servers were really kind. its just unfortunately kennys service the past 6 times ive gotten him has been SO underwhelming and disappointing, and this being my anniversary night i was just REALLY not happy. read more

Had dinner here last night with my family of 6, I checked yelp and their website and didn't see any reservation options so we had to wait an hour to be sat. The restaurant was packed, most of the tables were full. Service was good, we got our drinks, appetizers, soup and salad fairly quickly. The entrees took quite a while though. They only had 2 cooks on the grills but we were all happy with our food and friendly service. When our server came to ask if we wanted the check split or all on one we had a misunderstanding and he ended up splitting the check for each individual person(there was 6 of us) so it took him a while to do and we fully understand what a pain that is and wanted to just pay the entire bill with 2 credit cards, but he didn't seem too bothered by it. My wife and I wanted to take her parents to teppanyaki because they had never been before and thought they would enjoy some fancy knife work. A Yelp search brought us to Wasabi for our enjoyable and fun dinner. The restaurant was easy to find with no worries for parking. We had a 6 PM Saturday night reservation and were seated immediately at 5:45 with a grill all to ourselves in the clean and open restaurant. They have six or seven grills with three chefs rotating between them. As long as all three don't go to a grill all at once, no table should have to wait too long. Service was as sufficient as expected with the server occasionally gone for a few minutes working through the dinner rush. Joe was our chef and he cooked everything very well while performing the usual routine. The in laws and my wife ordered chicken while I had the steak, shrimp, and lobster combo with some cold sake. Entrees are served with salad, soup, vegetables, and your choice of rice. We missed out on some of the rice tricks because we all ordered the steamed rice. I was getting anxious as my steak was cooking fearing that it might be overcooked, but Joe pulled it off at a perfect medium rare. The shrimp and lobster were also cooked well with squeezes of lemon to brighten everything up. Green tea and mango ice cream was for dessert. My meal was plenty for me and I would not have had room for sushi, but maybe for next visit. If you're not into the teppanyaki song and dance, then this place isn't for you. But we're just fine with it and I always prefer watching my food being prepared in front of me. read more

I think there was another chef who had more experience then he did at the other table. He was super friendly and sweet (most important). I've had a bad experience with teppanyaki before: the food wasn't great and it was more for show which I don't care about. (I'm only a diner because someone else wanted to go in all situations). However the food here was actually good. The calamari was on point: not overdone and cooked thoroughly. The shrimp was really good and I was expecting it to be so-so. I got the combo and it was great and I got the garlic fried rice which was pretty good too. I got the rice first and it took awhile to get the meats done, but it was still hot even then. The soup in the combo was alright. And the salad was not bad, but not great. Altogether it was good. read more

I used to go to Benihana once a week for happy hour...now that I'm out in EG, I think I've found my new spot. Between 4:30 and 6:30, they offer a happy hour menu comprised of teppan yaki, sushi, and alcohol. I ordered the scallops teppan yaki. Wifey ordered the steak. Granted you don't get to choose the type of steak you want, regardless, it was still tasty and cooked perfectly. When our chef came out with at least 8 huge scallops, I thought they were going to be shared amongst the table. To my surprise, they all landed on my plate. Wowza. They were pretty good quality scallops and the veggies it came with were plentiful. We also each upgraded to the garlic fried rice. I appreciated how they took my sesame allergy seriously and catered to my needs. Ok, Benihana has a one up when it comes to the fried rice. Nevertheless, still good! Haha. This place was great. They have a good parking space with large windows to check on your car. The interior of the restaurant seemed clean with the hoods free of grease. The staff were friendly and attentive with entertaining cooks. In my opinion the food tasted good with the right level of seasoning on their chicken, beef and vegetable teppanyaki. Their garlic fried rice tasted really good as well. Their sauces for the teppanyaki tasted okay but were a little simple in my opinion. One of the sauces may be just mayonnaise with sriracha. I only had one roll, The flaming dragon roll which had a nice fire display but the roll broke apart easily and the taste was just okay. Additionally their tempera didn't have tempera flakes which is different then most places I've been to but it tasted good nevertheless. Soup and salad- dressing was not the usual Japanese ranch one which I actually like but a MISO and it was ok. Most others liked it. Grilled fried rice on the grill in front of you. Its a show of its own. As a courtesey you would tip him. It was entertaining. The veggies look so good. I could eat a whole batch of it! Then he would grill the chicken and other meats and serve individually. Your meal was the meat, veggies, rice either fried or steamed. It was flavorful and entertaining in all. Similiar to Benihana's. Meal was $16,95 for chicken and I think $20.95 for 2 items. Fried rice is $1.95 extra. Not sure why. Overall for 6 ppl it was $200.00. A bit pricey but overall I guess it was fine for a special time. Cocktails were very tasty and plenty of alcohol. Good for the price. Desserts were good. I ordered cream puffs wihch seemed like the ones from Costco which would not have been bad but they were frozen. Ugghhh. The dessert presentation were very nice though. Dinners include rice, salad (iceberg with ginger/onion dressing) and soup (beef broth with mushroom and green onion). Substitute fried or garlic rice for $1.95 so that you can see all the great egg tossing tricks. Both the soy ginger and sesame sauce are good accompaniments. Menu also features sushi: nigiri, hand rolls, and specialty rolls. Our affable chef showed off his impressive knife skills and his gamut of tricks: flaming volcano, catching eggs and shrimp tails in his toque and pocket, cracking an egg on a spatula edge, etc. Our server was attentive and great with suggestions. Now you can skip Benihana and support a local joint. The grills are set up to fit at least 8-10 people at the table. it's a fun place to come in groups to celebrate birthdays or get together. I ordered the Lobster and shrimp and my husband got the beef, chicken and scallops. We paid extra for the garlic fried rice which was awesome. It was hot inside the restaurant. It was just opening when we arrived so it was pretty empty for the most part. Great at atmosphere, great service and the food....so good! This is my first time trying Hibachi grill, and I was pleasantly surprised. Once you walk in, you get seated at a table with the giant cooking thing. Once everyone at the table orders, the chef will come out and introduce himself. And there goes the demonstration and cooking. I ordered the shrimp and chicken combo with garlic fried rice. I have had the garlic fried rice is delicious here, so I had to try it. They have some garlic butter that they put in everything so if you're on a diet, don't come here. If you're on low sodium diet, don't come here either. So it looks like they add teriyaki or soy sauce or some sort of sauce to a lot of their dishes, the food is decent. A little bit on the saltier end for me, but the garlic fried rice is good. I didn't like the soup or salad that comes with the combination. As for my first time here, the sauce bottle slipped out of his hand and it fell over and knock over my food over all me. I thought they handle the situation very professionally. They cleaned it up and made it up to me. I thought the show with the chef was fun since I haven't been to it. Service - Aaron was a cool server. Kenny was a chill chef but hearing the other chefs be more lively felt as if we were missing out. Ambience - the restaurant didn't have any music or anything playing so it felt like everyone could hear each other's conversations. I did like the decorations and how the restaurant was set up. Food - the soup that comes is literally just beef broth and mushrooms lol . The salad dressing given on the salad was delicious but the actual salad was just a iceberg lettuce mix. The entree was delicious , flavorful, and filling. They were very accommodating to my keto needs where all my family got everything regular I just asked for more butter and veggies instead.
